Hello VMum, we are one day apart as my lmp was the 4th & due on 11th Oct. When is your scan? Mine is next Tues & despite already having had three scans, I'm crapping myself.

VMumToBe · 23/03/2010 16:37

Thank you for the welcome NW - and odd to think that pip is now bigger than a mini egg

Hi ILGH - scan on 31 March! Will be nice to go to the normal bit of the maternity wing at the hospital this time...I have been feeling what I can only describe as "seasick" in that when I am sitting all seems fine, but movement brings a distinct wave of nausea! My only (temporary) solution is mints / brushing teeth, but there's only so many times you can do that in a day...

shieldbug M&S have some good trakky bottoms if you're not near a sweaty betty!

VMumToBe · 23/03/2010 16:39

ps Hi MLSadie too - think you were posting at the same time as me! Everything crossed for your scan - I'm one day after you again! Let's keep one day apart till Oct!

Elsa123 · 23/03/2010 16:44

Ilovegregoryhouse- you know you said you went to the FMC in London? Reading the info they said there was no need for a full bladder for the scans. Was this the case for you? They don?t use dildo-cams instead do they???? So pleased I've booked it as I still don't have the paperwrok from my hospt.

Hermya- my God, what a prick he is- Is he dead fit, or a bit of a bloater? Perhaps you could ask him what his excuse is??

Welcome vmumtobe- it is a nice bunch isn't it?!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 23/03/2010 16:51

Yes, I remember being asked to empty my bladder for the scan. BUT not sure if that was the case for the viability scan at 6 weeks. But you're past that anyway. No dildocams. They have these super duper whizzy enormous machines. They also have a very nice selection of magazines in the waiting room.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 23/03/2010 17:06

Sorry to post and run, but has anyone had any really sharp pains when lifting etc? I'm in agony at the moment - my shoulder/neck and arm are all really sore, not sure why but paracetamol is placebo, but more worryingly, I just lifted my ds up to change his nappy (all 17mths fatty goodness of him) and flet a sudden really intense pain low in my right pelvis and now just a dull ache.

scan tomorrow and I'm petrified (esp with Louey's exoerience and my own mc on 12wk mark) It was just a lig pull wasn't it? all these mild tweeks and aches down there are normal huh?

12 wks and the scan can not pass quickly enough. I hate wishing away time pregnant but this trimester is NOT a "special and magical" exoerience I just worry. I need not to.

Nymphadora · 23/03/2010 18:40

seashells don't suppose you had a section last time? I get them but they are supposedly my scar

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 23/03/2010 18:46

No scar, but I think it must be ligs and things growing - my tum bulge has changed from bloat to firm, so hopefully its just that things are progressing quicker. Gah, such a worrier at the moment!

On the brighter side my ILs are staying and its going well. I am v lucky with my MIL and they are helping out (as I spasm in pain every now and then!!) StepFIL has just hoovered flat - result!! I didn't even ask. I like it!

AbFabT · 23/03/2010 21:48

louey, if you are still checking in, I hope your twins had a lovely birthday and you and OH are doing as ok as can be.

Welcome VMum. Hope things run smoothly for you. This is indeed a lovely group.

SeaShells, hope your scan tomorrow goes well. I know exactly how you feel - mine is Thursday and I am so apprehensive. This should be a happy time, but I am anxious.
Hope your sharp pains have subsided too.

Hermya, I've long-since learned that some people just say stupid insensitive things. I tend to just ignore them. Hope the soup was nice!

No news from me, just checking in really! Hope you all have lovely evenings.

tiredfeet · 23/03/2010 22:04

seashells good luck for tomorrow. Not suprised you are feeling apprehensive but I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you that it is all good and you can start to relax. I hope the pains have gone now. got mine tomorrow too and I'm a bag of nerves!

hermya - yes well done for not chucking the soup over him. What a ridiculous thing to say

welcome Vmum sorry you've had such a worrying time so far

Hermya321 · 23/03/2010 22:29

Seashells If it helps any I've been getting achey pains low down in my tummy muscles near my pelvis. I figured it was just my uterus pushing against my tummy muscles. Good luck tomorrow!!! I know, I think next time I might just look him up and down, smile sweetly and say 'at least mines all baby'.

tiredfeet I know, to make it worse. He'd just finished scoffing down a plate full of chips. Silly person!!

Elsa He's a bit of a tubster and has a pervy uncle vibe going on about him.

Vmum Welcome to the thread!!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 24/03/2010 06:31

Thanks everyone - feeling slightly better this am and v cute cuddle from ds (it was 4.30, apparently wake up time!)

tiredfeet good luck today too - fingers crossed we can report back some happiness to thread after a couple of tough weeks for everyone

Vmum welcome, I hope things settle for you and you can start enjoying things more. Nausea etc is awful when it feels there is no end in sight!

Hermya mmmmm nice, pervy uncle is just what you need right now!

KSal · 24/03/2010 08:00

Sorry i'm not keeoping up very well at all!

Seashells - i have had almost a constant dull ache very low, kind of just above my pubic bone. Then every so often i will get a sharp pain if i have bent down and return to standing. I am hoping (and if i put my rational head on) its normal.

i am also having some lower back / hip pain. no idea if its linked to pregnancy at all but its unusual for me... may ask at next MW appt (but that's not for 6 weeks!)

Had an appointment with the consultant yesterday because i had high BP towards the end of my last pregnancy it was all fine, just odd to be having that kind of appointment when i still haven't heard a heart beat!

Elsa123 · 24/03/2010 09:26

Morning all. Good luck today seashells.

My neck and shoulder started to hurt last night. Its now so bad I cannot move my head from left to right and doing my hair this morning was agony. I've managed to get a doc appointment at 1115, what I really want is an instant referral to a physio as I cannot exactly take the normal GP prescription of giant ibuprofen. I have bitten the bullet and taken some paracetamol, but its doing nothing and the pain is creeping over the top of my head. I was meant to be going to Bristol today, but I think driving would be silly and have cancelled- hopefully without annoying the very senior person I was meant to be seeing. Pain level 6/10, peaking at 9 if I do something silly like nod. ARGHHH!

So, how's everyone else? Lots of lower tummy niggles and shooting pains?! I can recommend a frozen shoulder. It takes your mind off the abdominal pain in a jiffy.

dontstopmenow · 24/03/2010 10:15

Good morning everyone.

When, oh when will the sickness end??!!
I have a couple of days of feeling better and then it all kicks off again. Humph.

I also have lower abdominal pain but am putting it down to my cs scar. You would have thought all that would have healed after 3 years but apparently not.

Sorry for being gloomy but I am trying to write my dissertation and it is not compatible with feeling ick (although perhaps I should stop coming on to mumsnet)!

Have a good day everyone.

Nymphadora · 24/03/2010 10:20

Ksal I have achy hips & back too. Think its things relaxing

Nymphadora · 24/03/2010 10:24

Just had a fab trip to Asda (what a strange life where ASDA is fab )
Went for another pair of the only jeans that fit me (one pair left , my size, half price ), pizza for tea (reduced), conditioner (on special offer), bread for the freezer (reduced), socks for the kids and bras for me (all the right sizes in stock)

Lulabell · 24/03/2010 10:27

Hello everyone, well I've been rubbish and havent been on here for ages, I freaked out a bit and ran away.
I'm so far behind that I'm just going to pretend that I'm starting from scratch... now.

I'm really sorry that people have been having a tough time, I hope things start looking up, and all my best wishes and thought are with those who are having to go through the difficult times.

MummyLS, you have exactly the same dates as me, how are you getting along?

tiredfeet and seashells, good luck today

Elsa, that sounds awful, I really hope you can get some help with that! Not exactly what you need right now!

DontStop, everytime I think the sickness it over it creeps up and socks me from behind it's getting annoying more than anything! Sorry to hear your scar is playing up on top of the ickiness.

Hope everyone else is having a good day

Hermya321 · 24/03/2010 11:02

don'tstop It's the same with me. I'll have a few days of feeling like a functioning member of society and others where all I want to do is hide in a corner until everyone goes away.

nymph I'm shocked that asda actually managed to fill your needs without the need for a stern word with a manager. Most of the time I struggle with the powers that be at asda. I miss my tesco superstore of my uni days, I could find everything in that store.

Nymphadora · 24/03/2010 11:06

Hermya I have been going almost weekly for ages for bras and they never have my size (ever changing) so it was very exciting! [saddo]

NinthWave · 24/03/2010 12:18

Louey I am so so sorry to hear your news. I've been there and I know how devastating it is - please take care of yourself X

We have gradually started telling people I'm pregnant, after my scan last week. DH told his mum last night, which is making it all seem a bit more real!

DS is insisting it is a boy, who we are going to call Thomas. However he was watching 'THomas The Tank Engine' when he made this declaration so I'm not putting any money on it

I got my first pair of maternity trousers yesterday - ohhhh, the relief when I put them on! I've got a proper bump now, hooray!

SeaShells I am getting those pains too, especially if I stand up too quickly/try to hoist DS about without tensing my tummy muscles first. I remember having such severe pains with DS that I went to EPU for a scan, but all was fine.

Vmumtobe Welcome!

Good luck to all being scanned today/this week...be sure to report back v soon

Elsa123 · 24/03/2010 14:09

Gosh, all those bumps. I still think mine's mostly gas. I wear a uniform to work and its easy to hide a bump if you have a jumper on, but as the weather's getting warmer, its going to be less easy to do and more obvious. I so DON'T want to succumb to the maternity uniform. Its a choice of a nylon dress that must spark with static- a scratchy cardigan or trousers with a massive jersey panel and a horrid shirt that goes over the top. All designed to be unflattering in the extreme.

I managed to get a physio appointment for tomorrow morning for my neck just after my first midwife appointment (11 weeks ). I am soo hoping for a decent massage and not just stretching exercises...

jennimoo · 24/03/2010 15:23

So sorry louey, thinking of you today.

I don't have a bump, just a larger belly, but as my washing machine isn't spinning stuff properly had to wear maternity trousers yesterday as the last of my trousers that fit weren't dry in time. Was sooooo comfortable though!

I am moving tomorrow, and was pleasantly surprised to only be woken by standard insomnia rather than sickness last night! Have such a headache today, but next to no sickness. I expect it will be back tomorrow in time for moving day.

I'm getting anxious about scan on Friday too, and beginning to persuade myself things might not be ok, so if I see a healthy baby I'm going to be very pleased!

Good luck to those having their scans today, letbus know how they go.

Elsa123 · 24/03/2010 15:33

I spoke to my mw today- even though she told me she had to send me paperwork through to fill out for the scan with weight etc- it turns out she sent it all off to the hospt herself and I just need to wait for a date. We'll see.

KSal · 24/03/2010 15:45

no bump for me yet... i am pleasantly surprised as i figured second time around i would pop out quickly... still nicely tucked away (although this is probably cos i'm tall and there is more room in general)
