Hey flybynight you might be in a position to advise (having had 3 children already). Everyone has assured me that subsequent labours are always shorter than the first one. Has that been the case with you?
Also, do labours get 'easier' or were each of yours completely different?

Is there a prise for the biggest baby? (am feeling quite confident )

stinkypinky · 27/04/2010 09:10

Prize even [oops]

Sorry to hear about the Mastitis Dwayne - I thought I had it coming on yesterday, but feeling better today.

flybynight · 27/04/2010 09:19

I think you have every reason to be confident in the big baby stakes, stinkypinky. Is it true that big babies feed and sleep better?

I'm determined to have this baby this week. Preferably today. I'm rocking backwards and forwards on a birthing ball as I type. Unfortunately, sitting up in bed is the only place I seem able to sustain contractions. As soon as I move they stop.

Re subsequent labours, baby2, speaking personally I would say they get shorter, but far more intense. You might panic and think you can't cope with the intensity, but what you don't realise is you are almost there. That said, I've been very lucky with births thus far. All very fast, trauma-free deliveries. Other ladiies obviously have different views! Best of luck.

Zeeky · 27/04/2010 11:35

Still nothing to report from me. Was really hoping something was going to happen in the night last night, as was feeling really uncomfortable by the time I went to bed, then had to get up for a horrible evacuation of my bowels (TMI!) and was then starving hungry, so thought it was all pointing to something about to start. But woke up this morning feeling fine again

Good luck to you others still waiting. Any news from you Mistymoo and Adelaidejo?

flybynight · 27/04/2010 12:31

My sister has just had her first baby, a little boy, by ELCS. I'm both delighted and in tears with frustration!

Boodstress · 27/04/2010 13:58

Stinkypinky I am hoping you win the big baby prize but my history and scan tells me we are hot on your heels. Flybynight in my experience a big baby eats and sleeps better, my DS was through the night from 8 weeks and on a 3 hourly breast feeding routine taking 15 mins for a full feed from just a few days old. I hope the trend continues.
Growth scan tomorrow and meeting the obs, they will prob book me in for a section for 10 days over but I continue to hope that I get my VBAC. MistyMoo/Adelaidejo* any news???

AdelaideJo · 27/04/2010 14:18

I had a baby girl at 7.18pm yesterday - we have called her Erin - 7 lb oz.

Can't believe I had a girl, was positive it was another cheeky boy. Will do a potted birth tale later. Congrats Wizbit!!!

Bood and Zeeky I am waiting for your news now .

OMG AdelaideJo So happy for you, that's brilliant! What a lovely name too. So excited to hear your story. Have done a quick rescan of your latest posts to see if there were any similiarities with how I am feeling right now - how desperate am I. I'm like 'I can only nap for 20 minutes at a time toooooooo' wow I must be near . Going to eat some chocolate now...

ray81 · 27/04/2010 16:47

Boodstress - any signs ? Hope you enjoyed the choc.

Saw consultant and will see MW at 40+5 for sweep and then induced at 10 days over if nothing happens. I wanted to scream at her ' NO NO NO i want to be induced NOW' Of course i didnt. (Crazy pregnant woman emotion)
Dont want to jinx things but have been having contractions every 30 mins for 2 hrs now so MAYB although they will probably come to anything.

stinkypinky · 27/04/2010 17:04

Well done AdelaideJo - love the name - was on my list.
FlyByNight - only 6 days old, and so far NO! (Cluster feeding for 12 hours at a time is not fun, I can tell you!) She is working so hard on building the supply as needs more than the average baby.
DD1 always took some time to feed, but slept through from 6 weeks. She was 8lb 13oz.
Boodstress my scan said she was average size at 36 weeks, and she was born at 39 plus 5.

Billie had lost 10oz at day 5 which id 6% - apparently they are concerned if loss is over 8% or more.

Boodstress · 27/04/2010 17:48

Ray so the race is on but sounds like you are more progressed than me, I would say they would section me at 10 days if all is normal at appointment tomorrow. Every evening I seem to have BH that are getting progressively worse and then nothing.

Stinkypinky my scan said he/she was on the 97% percentile - I hope they haven't underestimated

Just feel depressed after eating chocolate, my appetite is off the scale right now, I have got to have this baby soon.

Await the last few babies (obviously my own is off specific interest )

Zeeky · 27/04/2010 20:16

Great news Adelaidejo - I knew you couldn't be far off, despite your stomach bug etc . Looking forward to hearing your birth story.

Still nothing happening with me. Supposed to see the midwife today as 41 weeks, but she is not at the surgery all week. Not sure if I should call her direct to arrange to see someone to get bloodpressure etc checked. I don't really want to see anyone though, as don't want to have a sweep or to be booked in for induction. Should I just wait a bit longer and see someone when I am 2 weeks overdue, hoping that in the meantime I have the baby, or arrange to see someone tomorrow to get checked over and run the risk of them coercing me into booking an induction? Not sure what to do - so hoped the baby would have made an appearance by now

thedollshouse · 27/04/2010 20:45

Congratulations AdelaideJo!

Bettymum · 28/04/2010 08:41

Congratulations Adelaiejo and little Erin!

stinkypinky · 28/04/2010 09:22

Zeeky, please get seen... but perhaps take someone with you to make sure you do not get forced/heavily encouraged into something you do not want. Now you are overdue it is even more important to get checked out IMO. Can you call triage, or your GP?

Good luck, and when things happen, I hope it is all you dreamed it would be.

Toady · 28/04/2010 10:24

Hello all, cannot believe it is nearly a week since ...

George was born last Thursday (22nd April)weighing in at 9lb 3oz, he has taken to breast feeding brilliantly which is fantastic because I found it very difficult with my previous three, think his size helps, was a bit of a shock as my previous biggest was only 7ib 11oz.

Anyway will update soon am typing one handed at moment, feeding with the other.

ilovesprouts · 28/04/2010 10:25

my dds due date is fri and shes getting really fed up ,her brothers gf had my grandson 17 days early last thurs lucas matthew 7lb 2 oz !

Bettymum · 28/04/2010 10:27

Congratulations Toady! and well done to George on the breastfeeding .

Boodstress · 28/04/2010 10:36

Congratulations on baby George Toady and great that the BF is going so well.

Off for a growth scan and app with the obs now, assuming they will let me go off and keep cooking for another 9 days.
Zeeky I totally hear you about not wanting to let them coerce you into an induction, I know of people that are pushing for 14 and 15 days over because they believe that is how long their body takes to cook a baby from previous births. I am adament I won't be talked into a section too early. I think if you are planning to leave it as long as poss (IMO) it is even more important for them to monitor you carefully. One thing I have learnt from this time round is no one can make you do something with your body that you don't want. You're the boss of you - actually my son is the boss of me. Good luck. Bet you have your little munchkin sooner than you think.

Zeeky · 28/04/2010 14:51

I hear what you are saying ladies and have been trying to get hold of my midwife all day to get checked over. Her phone keeps ringing out or is switched off, so she must be out on call. Will keep trying though. The community midwife team insisted that I see my own midwife as she is working this week.

Booked some reflexology for Friday morning if nothing has happened in the meantime. My hypnobirthing teacher phoned me this morning to check if I had had the baby yet, and recommended a reflexologist who has a very good track record for bringing on labour. The acupuncture last Friday didn't work, but hopefully this will

Getting more uncomfortable by the day. My parents are coming to stay from Friday as my mum can wait no longer! It will be a relief to have them here, as then there is always someone on hand to look after DS, and he will LOVE having the attention.

Mistymoo - you've been very quiet, so maybe you have popped already?

Who else is overdue? - I'm losing track...How are you feeling (apart from fed-up)?

Thanks dwayne. Had a scan about 3 weeks ago and baby was in right position then. I'm going to hold out for as long as possible before induction, passed 14 days if need be if medically everything is still ok otherwise won't be able to go to midwife centre for hypno-water birth. Still can't get hold of midwife.
