Not been on for ages and ages - congrats to everyone with new arrivals!

I'm a day past my due date now and quite fed up. Was scheduled for c section last Wednesday after baby having been breech for virtually entire pregnancy - only to be told on being admitted to hospital that the little monkey had turned itself round at the last minute! Sent home very emotional and more than a bit frustrated. I know it's for the best and can laugh about it now but it wasn't a good day. Convinced I'll go two weeks over and have to be induced now, although it's dh's birthday on Sunday and he's always been adamant baby will arrive then- really wouldn't mind being proved wrong on this occasion !

Hope everyone is hanging in ok and not being driven too mental by the constant 'so, you're still in one piece then?' . Good luck all.

Am just back from acupuncture session and boy did it work even better than last time!
Had 3 massive contractions while on table and have been cramping up nicely since I came out of there. I'm hoping it won't be long now..

Clary sage is doing precisely nothing for me so I might abandon it.

Zeeky · 22/04/2010 11:58

Wow Adelaidejo, that acupuncture sounds brilliant. Maybe I will have to investigate that. Never had any done before though so was considering reflexology instead.

Been baking fairy cakes & flapjacks all morning with DS. Trying to keep busy & on my feet to help things along.

Boodstress · 22/04/2010 12:37

I'm not surprised about the acupuncture AdelaideJo I had contractions (she's a midwife and could see and time them) every seven minutes lasting 1 minute during my reflexology last night, she is convinced I am almost there. They were quiet uncomfortable. After dinner I had a bath and all went quiet. I have been having tightenings today but nothing major. Not due til Tues so I have no right but I would be so thrilled if something happened...

BTW my mid wife freaked out this morning when I asked what was the problem was with my baby sitting on my right hip. I said I heard about people doing exercises to shift it over, she was like, 'no one knows what your insides are like, there could be a good reason why your baby can't decend on that side - baby knows best and a posterier baby comes down just fine.' She also said its a bit of myth that even some midwives are prepetuating. I was just thankful I didn't have to worry about something else. My mum who had 9 natural births said they came down every which way so heres hoping.

Zeeky · 22/04/2010 13:17

After my walk yesterday & again today after standing up all morning I've had a load of cervical mucus. It's creamy in colour, odourless (sorry if TMI!), but no blood or anything so don't think it is a show/mucus plug thingy. Anyone else had this?

DS is still struggling with starting nursery. DH got him ready & took him yesterday while I had a lie-in (which was bliss!) & he was better at being left by daddy than by me, but still had tears. When DH collected him, he was standing all by himself in the playground, and said the other children were mean to him & had pushed him. DH said it was heartbreaking to see him by himself. I know it's early days yet, but finding it really hard at the mo - makes me cry just thinking about it

Bah, have slowed right down now (like you Bood) but had midwife appt. and she reckons I won't go past thr weekend but hey, who knows eh!?!?!?

Also the baby is facing the wrong way (back to back) which my DS was also so I've been given instructions to do EVEN MORE bloody bouncing on the ball, which I hate because when I stand up my ladyparts fill up with pressure and its agonizing.

I have an empty house; DS is at the park with DP so I prepared for a mega nap but only got 20 minutes for some reason.

Come on babies this is ridiculous we are all so ready now!!!!

AdelaideJo · 22/04/2010 16:22

Zeeky I've never seen a show or anything - I keep checking but nothing BUT I did read that some discharge is common just before labour!!!!

flybynight · 22/04/2010 16:31

Saw my MW today - blood pressure has come down. So the theory that it swings up before labour doesn't help me. Curses.

Zeeky I'm in the same boat with the mucus, but I've never had a show in three previous labours so I'm no help really.

Mistymoo · 22/04/2010 17:12

Flybynight I've never heard that about the blood pressure, which is interesting as I had my MW appt this afternoon and mine blood pressure has swung up. I've always been on the low end and MW noted today that it was back to what it was at my booking appt.

Does this mean it's near?

Boodstress · 22/04/2010 18:02

My blood pressure was normal this morning..boooo. My sis in law did star jumps with number 3 and her waters broke..I AM NOT RECOMMENDING THIS, however, I have just done the mickey mouse dance with my DS and threw in a couple for good measure. Nothing yet on a plus note - SPD isn't half as bad as it has been, im sure I won't be able to walk tomorrow.

Zeeky · 22/04/2010 18:13

Booked myself some acupuncture for tomorrow morning so fingers crossed that will help.

Got a bit of discomfort in one side of my groin this afternoon, but that could be due to the long walk I did yesterday, the standing up this morning baking and the crawling around on the floor earlier getting DS' toys out from under the sofa !

catmat2002 · 22/04/2010 19:01

Hope its not too late to join, I'm 40weeks + 5 and getting more and more impatient as the seconds pass. Had a sweep at the midwife today and she said cervix was soft but posterior so doesnt know how effective it will be.

Feeling a bit down in the dumps so I've just polished off a family size bar of choc!! Just want her here now!!

Anyone else in the same boat? What are you doing to pass the time?

Zeeky · 22/04/2010 19:39

Hi Catmat2002 - never too late to join this thread!

The waiting is so frustrating isn't it? Is this your first baby?

I've been trying to keep busy, and also do the sort of things that I know I might not be able to for a while - hair cut, hi-lights, pedicure, shopping, watching TV.

I also keep stuffing myself with choc and crisps. Trying to make the most of these last few days of being pregnant!

catmat2002 · 22/04/2010 19:42

yep 1st baby, a girl we're so excited!

I think the worst thing is not knowing what its really gonna be like. For the last hour or so I've been having tightenings/twinges in my tummy and feels like the baby is having a party in there so I dont know if that is an effect of having the sweep?!

Boodstress · 22/04/2010 19:47

Hi Catamat, I am on Mumsnet when my DS allows it, or out in the garden on the Swiss ball with a lump of cake in one hand and a full strength coffee in the other (given up giving up coffee, its meant to increase the risk of premature baby -NOT APPLICABLE and a small birth weight baby - NOT APPLICABLE). I am also crawling around on all fours twice a day picking up all the Duplo lego and if I go early or on time this time round I will know why. Good luck, hope the sweep proves effective.

AdelaideJo · 22/04/2010 20:12

My contractions have come back, have written down the times of the last 2 but when they get more painful i'm going to take some paracetamol and go to bed!

Zeeky good luck for the acupuncture tomorrow I doubt you'll be waiting too long afterwards.

Zeeky · 22/04/2010 21:15

Great Adelaidejo! Got my contraction-timing app loaded on my new iPhone ready to go!

thedollshouse · 22/04/2010 22:23

Boodstress · 23/04/2010 08:33

Great news DollsHouse, hope it alll went ok in the end, congrats. Adelaide sounds like you may have started over night...goood luuuck!

Zeeky whats the name of the contractions app? Have you got the baby timer one for feeding etc..looks great.

Hope I am not the last one left turning off the lights in here while you're all off having a party in the post natel thread...

Zeeky · 23/04/2010 08:44

boodstress - contraction app is called Labour Mate which I think was free. The breastfeeding one I have is cAlled Nursing Master, which I paid for but not sure if it's the best one as there were loads to choose from.

Congrats Dollshouse - glad your baby is finally here.

Off for a hot bath with clary sage in before going for acupuncture. Wish me luck!

Well done Dolls!!!!! Good for you!

Have had an unbelievable bit of bad luck last night. Went to bed at 10.30 with paracetamol and a couple of nice painful contractions/hour. Woke up at 1am and bolted for the toilet. Can't bloody believe that I have had D&V (and I mean severe, wall spraying D&V sorry if TMI) for the entire night. The baby was going mental, it must have been horrible for it as it was just clawing around the front of my belly for hours.
I've now totally lost any cramping or contractions or even the heavy low feeling that I had, and am a bit cross.
Mainly because the only places i've been in 48 hours are the acupuncturist and the GP surgery to see the midwife, so i've picked it up there off some selfish sod that just had to go out of their house when they have such an infectious bug.
Rang the delivery suite this morning and they said they were glad I wasn't going to go into labour as they just wouldn't be able to manage such an infectious virus where others would be at risk.
I feel okay now, very weak, am starving hungry but petrified to eat anything
Anyway, just really wanted to vent a bit and update. Wiz and zeeky am thinking of you.
