Oh no AdelaideJo that's horrible. Make sure you get lots of fluids and you could try some dried toast - you may need energy very soon. Better the baby didn't make an appearence although I picked up an infection like that after my emc last time and they put me straight into a room on my own which I had for 4 nights..nice, I might pretend this time to get the same treatment. Thinking of all the Due daters. I am very crampy and low but zip all else happening and now we are roped into weekend BBQs etc when all I want to do is curl up and wait..obviously I know its best to keep busy but don't have the temperment to deal with inlaws at the mo.

AdelaideJo · 23/04/2010 14:21

Wow Bood you're doing family this weekend? I'm not even answering my phone anymore hahahahah! Am drinking really weak squash and going to have some dry toast in a bit, agree with you thats good advice. Have been bouncing on the ball but still feel incredibly pregnant and not-one-bit like I did yesterday or even the day before...damn damn damn!

Oh congrats sprouts how nice to have 2 come along almost at the same time...

Am desperate for news of others....

Boodstress · 23/04/2010 14:42

I was totally railroaded into it, I lied and said DH was playing golf (like I would let him at the mo) so I wasn't sure and my FIL, who came on the phone at the same time as MIL (Grrhhh) said, don't worry, we'll come over and get you and DS. AHHHHHH!

I would so love to go before then if only to scupper that plan but I don't feel anything much besides occasional cramps and I have just read thats normal at this stage with a second pregnancy. Damn and blast...

AdelaideJo · 23/04/2010 14:51

I feel your pain.....

I can't even settle in front of a box-set today, am too wired to sleep and might have to hobble to the shops soon.

Mistymoo · 23/04/2010 14:59

Congratulations to all the new mummies.

I have been having some strong contractions today, was woken up with them last night. Hoping that this is going like dd which would mean that tomorrow is the day!!!

Zeeky · 23/04/2010 15:22

Sounds very promising mistymoo, fingers crossed.

Feeling really bad for you Adelaidejo - hope you feel better soon.

Had the acupuncture earlier. My left side was much more sensitive/responsive than the right - not sure if that is good or bad. Nothing happened so far. She said if nothing happens over the weekend to come back on tues for another session. I'm beginning to think that this baby is just going to come when it wants to regardless of what I do to try to get it to come any sooner!!

Boodstress · 23/04/2010 15:26

OMG Mistymoo, thats v exciting. are they v uncomfortable or just like strong BH? For instance would you call your DP/DH home at this stage? I was induced last time so not sure when I can safely say 'we're on the way'.

Adelaide I went to the shops with DS earlier and half the people said, 'still not here yet' and the other half couldn't speak for staring at my enormous bump so I won't be doing that again, too embarressing.

thedollshouse · 23/04/2010 16:06

Congratulations ilovesprouts!

My birth story is a little hazy and it seems a million years ago since I was pregnant which I never thought I would hear myself say!

I think I posted on Monday evening that I had an achey period like feeling and my bh's were becoming more regular. I put ds to bed and when it got to about 8 o clock I said to dh that I was going to start trying to time them. I was very surprised to discover that they were becoming very regular - every 5 minutes and lasting for 30 seconds. Phoned the labour ward and was told to come in. On the car journey they increased to one every 4 minutes and I could tell that they were proper contractions rather than braxton hicks. Got to the hospital at 10, had to be scanned as the midwives couldn't find the head, turns out the baby did have a head but it was so low down in my pelvis that it was hard to feel it. They also discovered that the baby was back to back which freaked me out a bit as most people I know with back to back presentations ended up with difficult births. The midwife did an internal examination which I found very painful and announced that I wasn't even dilating! I couldn't believe it as by now the contractions were quite intense although not too painful. The midwife said normally they would send patients home at this stage but in my case I would be admitted to the antenatal ward as I had had a previous section. Dh said I expect I will be back tomorrow to bring you home and I replied you will be back in 2 hours because I know that I am definitely in labour.

Was admitted to the ante-natal ward around half past 12, took a couple of paracetemol and got under the covers when I felt an almighty contraction like nothing I had experienced before! Called the midwife and as she tried to help me off the bed my waters broke and the contractions went crazy, I was having 1 a minute with just 30 seconds inbetween each one. The midwife examined me and I was 3cm dilated. I said to the midwife that there was no way I was going to be able to experience that level of pain for a prolonged period and said that I had changed my mind and wanted to have a c-section after all. The midwife suggested a short trial of labour with an epidural. I had always been totally against having an epidural but all of a sudden it seemed to make total sense to go down that route. I had to stay on the antenatal ward until they made room for me on the delivery suite and it felt like an absolute eternity as the contractions were so painful, I had always imagined a slow build up of pain and was completely unprepared for this.

I eventually made it back to the delivery suite at around 1.30 am and found dh in disagreement with one of the midwives. I had written in my birth plan that I was not to be given an epidural under any circumstances and had given dh strict instructions not to allow me to have an epidural no matter how much I begged for it. Dh then saw me being pushed towards him in a wheelchair whilst vomiting into a bedpan and wearing a bloodstained nightie and said okay just do whatever she says. He couldn't believe the change in me since he waved me off less than 2 hours ago. By now my birth plan had gone totally out of the window and I was delighed to see a perfect vision in blue as the anaethetist was already waiting for me with the epidural needle when I got to my room.

I had my epidural and the next 15 hours were quite relaxed, there were a couple of worrying moments when the monitor showed that ds2's heartrate wasn't picking up as it should be but they carried out a blood test from his head and it showed that everything was normal. It was a longer trial of labour than had been expected but I was making progress albeit slow progress so we all agreed that it made sense to continue. Got to 5pm and the midwife said I was fully dilated, because I had had a previous section I had to wait for an hour until I could start the pushing stage. Got to 7pm and I hadn't made much progress on the pushing front, mainly because the contractions had slowly been decreasing all day and I was now only having 3 every 10 minutes. The registrar examined me and announced that I wasn't 10cms dilated after all and was only 9cm. People then started talking about hormone drips and forceps and by now I had had enough and said I just wanted a c-section, they tried to talk me out of this and said that I would meet one of their top consultants in theatre and I should take her advice. Got to theatre and I was very nervous by now as I was convinced they were going to carry out a forceps delivery on me which I really wasn't prepared for. The consultant examined me and confirmed that I was only 9cms dilated, she said normally she would advise having a hormone drip to speed up the contractions but in view of my previous section and slow progress she wanted me to have an emergency c-section, I was very relived to hear this as I didn't have the energy for anymore interventions.

The c-section was fine although totally different from my first section. In my first section they used a spinal whereas I had an epidural for this one and had a lot more sensation than the first time. I got quite agitated with people as I convinced myself that the surgeons were resting their elbows on my insides . I eventually had some gas and had the wierdest dreams, dh said I relayed my dreams to everyone in theatre and asked them if they fancied going for a drink after they had finished my op.

Anyway to cut a long story short. Our lovely son, Rory was born at 8.31 p.m weighing 8lb 7oz. He is absolutely gorgeous and ds1 is besotted with him!

Despite receiving fantastic support at the hospital bfing is not going well so we are using formula and topping up with expressed milk. Hopefully it will get better when my milk comes in.

Mistymoo · 23/04/2010 16:08

Boodstress I wouldn't call dh home just now. With my dd I had a day like this and then had her the next day in the afternoon. They are like strong BH with period pains that can catch your breath slightly.

I know what you mean about not knowing even if it's your second. I was induced with my ds and so my dd felt like my first and I think I did go to the hospital too early last time. I don't want to do that this time.

Boodstress · 23/04/2010 16:13

I don't want to go to early to hospital either, dreading them trying to section me again (mad crazy dreams of them with a scalpal - actuallt maybe section is the word for it )if I am hanging around long enough. Oh goodie, a birth story...off for a read..

Boodstress · 23/04/2010 16:30

Wow Dollshouse you did amazingly well. I want the option of a section, but on my terms so its good to hear they were less pushy about it. You knew your body though and that you were going into established labour even when they didn't. Enjoy little Rory and good luck with the coming days.

ilovesprouts · 23/04/2010 17:51

stinkypinky · 24/04/2010 09:18

Happy to report another pink bunny!

Popped out of her burrow at 12.21 hrs on Wed 21st weighing a whopping 10lb 3oz!!! Spitting image of her big sis, only with even more jet black curly hair.

I am doing ok - came home yesterday lunchtime, so 48 hours post section. Sore as only on paracetamol and brufen, but coping with pain.

BF going well, milk came in last evening, so very relieved - nips were being battered constantly, and would have fallen off if not for lansinoh.

Wilhelmina, known as Billie.

Feel free to hate her Sunday name - most people do, and quite openly, but frankly my dears, I don't care!

She has a click in her hip, and bowed legs, but doctors not concerned - for tests in a few weeks.

Had my 41st birthday in hospital.

Beyond happy!

Neeko · 24/04/2010 09:43

Congrats to all the new mummies (and gran). stinkypinky your post made me well up.You sound so proud

Good luck to those still waiting - the end is in sight.

catmat2002 · 24/04/2010 09:48

Congrats to all of you who've had your little ones!

thedollshouse well done you, sounds traumatic, but you stuck your ground and thats great!

stinkypinky who cares if ppl hate her name. I think its great, at least she won't share her name with 4 others in her class, and Billie is really cute! (Hope you enjoyed your birthday in hosp!)

I'm still waiting for my little girl, I'm 41 weeks today, had a sweep Thursday which hasnt worked, have another booked for Monday and an appointment at the hospital on Tuesday to book in for the induction - I'm taking my DH and by hospital bag, laying on the tears and insist they do it then and there....we'll see if it works. Fingers crossed she comes before then.

Getting sick of pineapple now! I fear I'm gonna be one of the last to deliver!!!

stinkypinky · 24/04/2010 14:40

Neeko I am proud

I am so glad to have had a positive birth experience after my last hideous ordeal - so much mental, emotional and psychological healing has taken place... I am feeling 'whole' again, and we have even talked about having a third possibly (never ever ever thought that would happen I can tell you!)

Catmat2002 - welcome! glad you like the name, and the birthday was wonderful - what better birthday present is there?

Dollhouse - well done! Had to smile at thinking of your husband defending your birth plan

flybynight · 24/04/2010 14:57

Fabulous news stinkypinky. I love her name (why would anyone not?) and I love the fierce pride you radiate.

Catmat2002 - fear not. I've only reached my due date today and there is no sign of a baby. I reckon I'll be last out.

Boodstress · 24/04/2010 15:18

Sorry flybynight I think I will be last out..in fact I couldn't feel less ready to go into labour than if I was 5 months gone..ok slight exaggeration...

Congrats StinkyPinky..love the name and the shortented version. I also love that you have done all that healing AND a big baby too..I so hope whatever happens that I can walk away feeeling healed after my first birth experience (despite obviously loving my gorgeous DS).

pillia78 · 24/04/2010 19:52

Hello all, My bunny has leaped rather than popped out! I was convinced I was going to be induced as was last time so was quite relaxed on Thursday lunchtime dozing on the sofa when my waters went with a gush!! Rang DH and said 'Waters gone' he was home within 5 minutes (DS2 was born in one hour after waters going so speed was essential!)grabbed bags and DS2 who was asleep and sped to the hospital. Got to the hospital and they monitored me, said I was contracting but that they would send me home, I refused and asked for an examination and was 3cm dilated so they packed me off to the labour ward! Contractions started coming and met my lovely midwife, luckily the birth pool was available so got into that which was AMAZING and after an agonising but not scary 45 minutes Elliot Alexander was born weighing 7lbs 14oz. I would really recommend the water, I have recovered so well this time and the whole thing was as lovely as giving birth can be!!!

flybynight · 25/04/2010 08:51

Ooh well done pillia78 - that sounds about perfect. Lovely name as well.

So you were a day after your due date then? Well, that's today for me, so fingers crossed...

Neeko · 25/04/2010 09:16

well done Pillia and yay or another water birth! [SMILE]

Jennysbean · 25/04/2010 10:20

Congratulations Pillia, cant believe how quick he was!
Wow they are coming thick and fast now!
Day 5 for us and I feel like we are getting into more of a swing of things now, now quite so overwhelmed and I am showered with both daughters asleep.....magic....
xx

AdelaideJo · 25/04/2010 12:52

Really fed up. Reckon I will be the very last of us to go.

Well done Stinky, good for you. Pilia water birth sounds fab I am also booked for one. No sign of Wiz, maybe she's gone into labour.

lineky · 25/04/2010 13:29

Congrats Pilla and a big hug to AdelaideJo remember it will happen - that is certain

Zeeky · 25/04/2010 19:29

Don't worry Adelaidejo, I'm still here too. Almost a week overdue now and starting to get mightily fed-up. Feeling massive today and starting to get uncomfortable (have been lucky enough to feel really well up until now), so am hoping this is a sign that things are close to starting.

Also hoping for a waterbirth.

Getting terrified of having to be induced as won't be able to go to midwife unit for waterbirth and hypnobirthing will go a bit haywire too.
