thedollshouse · 18/04/2010 10:23

Excellent news Dwayne! I had a feeling you might go into labour in advance of the induction.

I am going to cancel my sweep for tomorrow. I am feeling very achy and sore from the thrush and not sure I can face it at the moment. I'm thinking I might be better off to let nature take its course.

Toady · 18/04/2010 14:24

Hello everyone, congratulations to all new arrivals and good luck to everyone who is going into labour, have not read much lately.

Well due date according to scan was yesterday although I think my due date is nearer the 27th.

Have been struggling the last couple of days though, no contractions but can barely walk and the only way I can describe it is like one big cramp everywhere and sort of a massive pressure bearing down, this is my fouth pregnancy and have had lots of braxton hicks this time strong enough to take my breath away but have not had this before. Anyone understand whats going on, have I got to go on like this for another week? Aaargh have taken a couple of paracetamol which have helped a bit, but finding it all a bit much.

Toady

thedollshouse · 18/04/2010 16:52

Toady I feel your pain I have been feeling pretty much the same for the last 10 days or so. I'm dreading the schools returning tomorrow because I don't think I can manage taking ds and picking him up but I am reluctant to ask other mums for help because everyone else manages and I don't want people to think I am being lazy.

I mentioned it to midwife and she said the problem with walking and pressure bearing down is due to the baby putting pressure on the pelvis. She also said it was normal for braxton hicks to hurt, I don't remember them hurting with ds but they definitely do this time!

Lets hope the babies arrive soon!

pillia78 · 18/04/2010 19:25

Toady am feeling exactly the same! 3rd baby and have had loads of BH this time which I have never had before, it feels as if the baby is right, right down in my groin and is going to propel itself out any second!
Dollshouse Also dreading having to do the school run as there is no parking by DS1 school and it all just feels like such a hassle! We have just bought a Ford Galaxy which is fab but is so huge that I am worried about parking it!!

Jennysbean · 18/04/2010 20:16

Yup, with you on the not being able to walk toady!!
I spent most of the morning in tears today, cant sleep at night so exhausted and just really wanted to have this baby this weekend...I have slept this afternoon and am now a bit more rational...a bit! will be 40+9 tomorrow or 41+2 whichever sounds better!
I had a show today but no contractions at all......please hurry up as am turning into a sleep deprived immobile monster ( at least I will be mobile when the bub comes!)
Off to bed now with boring book....
x

Thanks for your replies ladies, the braxton hicks I can cope with, its the feeling of iniment explosion that is so awful, a 50 yard walk to the shops and back was horiffic and I came back in tears.

Things seem to have calmed down now but the pressure is unbearable.

DH back to work tomorrow and need to keep the kids entertained until Wednesday, at least the weather is beautiful. I will sit in mums garden and do as little as possible but my two little ones 4 years and 6 years are being very clingy at the moment and keep climbing all over me which is not helping, having to stop myself flinging them off me.

Seeing the midwife tomorrow who is offering me a sweep but although tempted dont want one until my due date 27th as I am having a home birth, the problem is my scan date is the 17th so will be 2 days over according to them.

Anyway hopefully I will get a good nights sleep tonight!!!

thighsmadeofcheddar · 18/04/2010 20:56

Congratulations weetiger. What a lovely big boy.

Zeeky · 19/04/2010 08:26

Due date today/tomorrow & really hoping something will happen soon. Still feeling really well & mobile which I should be grateful for after hearing about the pain/discomfort some of you are in, but it makes me think I probably have a while to go yet

We're planning to get a takeaway curry tonight & I'm going to crack open the clary sage oil later too, so maybe that will kick start something. I've been eating fresh pineapple until it's coming out of ears even though I know you'd have to eat 6 whole ones one after another in order for it to have any effect!! I love pineapple though & had been avoiding it all pregnancy just in case!

Good luck to all those overdue or due now. Hope we all get our little ones in the next few days.

Zeeky · 19/04/2010 08:35

As we've already done the list of what we're looking forward to after our births, how about a list of what we will miss most about being pregnant?

Here's my list (in no particular order):

  1. Great skin & hair
  2. Being able to give into cravings for chocolate/crisps etc
  3. Having DH help out around the house & with DS (but hopefully this will continue at least until the end of his paternity leave!)
  4. That feeling of never being alone when the baby is moving/kicking
  5. The attention I'm currently getting from family & friends - they've never been so attentive in phoning to see how I am LOL!
AdelaideJo · 19/04/2010 08:42

Spent last night getting up every 30 minutes to have MONUMENTAL wee's - I swear it was pints every time!! Also woke up with night sweats over and over again and horrid vivid dreams.

Really hoping today is the day but I think not. My lady area is really heavy but I think thats because of the vigorous exercise DP and I took last night.

Dolls are you going for the sweep today?

thedollshouse · 19/04/2010 08:55

Congratulations Weetiger! I love the name Toby. Well done on the successful vbac sounds like you did really well.

Jennysbean I cancelled the sweep, I am very sore and achy due to the thrush and I just don't think I can handle it at the moment, I screamed when I inserted the pessary so I don't think I can handle a midwife rummaging around at the moment.

I hardly slept last night felt crampy and thought it might be the start of something but this morning the cramps have gone! The walking is getting worse I have to have something to hold onto otherwise I seem incapable of even putting one foot in front of the other.

I'm off to the hospital this morning to have bloods taken for the c-section on Friday. I'm hoping I might go into labour as I'm really nervous about dh driving back to work afterwards, I feel a bit scared of being on my own at the moment.

thedollshouse · 19/04/2010 08:59

I meant AdelaideJo not Jennysbean. I'm still half asleep!

Zeeky I agree with number 4 on the list but other than that I can't think of anything! I'm sure once the baby is here I will miss loads about being pregnant.

Snowtiger · 19/04/2010 09:20

Congratulations Thighs and Weetiger, great news and great names!

Dollshouse hope that things start happening for you soon, you sound so fed up . I'm not surprised, you've had a lot to contend with.

FWIW I don't miss a single thing about being pregnant!! I'm getting more sleep than when I was pregnant, even with a 2 week old fully breastfed baby!! DS1 is being a bit of a tinker at times but that's all part and parcel of being a 2.8 year old I think and nothing to do with Wilf's arrival really - in fact he's been lovely to his little baby brother (although he can't pronounce his name and calls him 'Woof'!)

Dwayne looking forward to hearing your news when you get back online, hoping you've had your little one by now.

AdelaideJo, Zeeky, Toady, and all you other ladies I hope things happen soon and that you're all cuddling your little April bunnies very soon.

Just as a reminder of how life goes on after you've had your baby and DH returns to work, I've just dropped DS1 off at nursery, am about to feed DS2 (who's asleep in the carseat but am going to wake him up soon - waking him to feed is the only way to ensure he gets enough in the day to make him sleep at night!) and then we're off to... Sainsbury's! Oh the glamour....

Good luck all, looking forward to hearing more news soon x

Jennysbean · 19/04/2010 09:43

Apart from nice skin I won't miss a thing....! and thats only nice skin on my face, the rest is a mess, my stomach looks like an ariel view of routes into Birmingham....sigh....
I can't wait to wear nice jeans and tops again and be able to properly play with my DD.
Good luck today Dollshouse
I watched 4 episodes of 30 rock last night which made me laught so much I started haveing contractions, so now DD is happily at nursery guess what I am up to today!
come on the bunnies!
x

Congratulations to all the new mummies.

I thought I was starting last night as I was having very strong contractions and was mentally making plans for my other two dcs. However it all went away when I went to bed, but on the positive side I had a very good sleep.

DH is busy at work on Tues and Wed and so has asked if I'll wait until Thurs . Hopefully that means it will happen in the next two days!!!!

Hope everyone else is doing OK.

Boodstress · 19/04/2010 11:33

Big congrats Thighs and Weetiger, Weetiger, I'm hoping for a VBAC this time, DC1 was 9lb 6 and the reason for the emergency section was failure to progress. I am nervous that because I have been told this is another big'un that I won't be able to deliver it. I have nothing to base this on except my own growing despondency as due date approaches. I was induced day 11 last time. Did you go into labour naturally this time and not the last time? When you say 18 hours was that beginning to end? Did you think it was alot harder to deliver a big baby from what the midwives were saying etc. Obviously you are very busy with Toby (love the name, it was on our boy list) but if you get the chance I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Elsewhere - lots of BH and none the last time, some of them very uncoomfortable - damn that mid wife that said they can also be painful, I thought that was a good sign. I have a strange thing at night that after a wee and walk back to the bedroom I get a really sharp pain down below, I wondered if anyone else had this. I am feeling really fedup, massive and SPD making walking difficult but I am really trying to keep looking on the bright side and loving the trickle of new baby news. Read the postings by some of you other fed up new mums to be, to my DH to show him that I am not the only one, so thanks a mil for that

TBH I can't think of anything I will miss about the pregnancy this time, last time I would have said my bump as I got quite attached to it, this time I cannot WAIT to not be preggars

lineky · 19/04/2010 11:52

Congrats to the new Mums
Heartfelt sympathies to those of you suffering - going over sounds quite horrendous however you will be joining us all on the post natal thread soon - Hooray!

babymonster · 19/04/2010 13:24

Another to add to the list. baby Sophie was born at 08:04 sunday morning weighing in at 6lbs 11oz. Was a bit of a shock as was due an elective c-section on the 28th because of previous section, but she decided to make an early appearance. Started with a show and a few aches so decided to let hospital know as didn't want to go into full term labour with wanting c-section, by the time I arrived at the hospital I was already 8cm dilated and ended up having a very quick and easy natural birth! I still can't believe I did it!

Well done, thighs, Weetiger and bloody hell, well done babymonster! What a star!

Love Alexander, Bettymum - its my DS1's name. A very noble name!

This baby shows no sign of shifting. Very few niggles and contractions. I know I haven't reached my due date yet, but with all of you ladies having your lovely babies, I feel as if I should have had mine ages ago. Moan, moan, grumble, grumble.

Thanks Weetiger I am taking bucketloads of inspiration from that. You did amazingly well. My experience from DS1 is that big babies feed and sleep really well so hopefully Toby follows suit
