Thanks Hoops, I must admit DH wasn't keen on the name Wilf so I had to conduct a fairly shameful 9 month campaign of wearing him down and emotional blackmail . I also had to consent to his middle name being Rocky!!! Seriously!!! (Nothing to do with the films though). I actually really like it now but all the grandparents think we're insane and that it's tantamount to child abuse!!

Adelaide I had a runny tum too, both times, so yes I'd say very likely a sign of early labour. Good luck!!

thighsmadeofcheddar · 15/04/2010 14:33

Such lovely birth stories, congratulations to all the new mummies.

I'm now 10 days ish overdue. Getting induced on Sunday which I'm not thrilled about but have run out of options. Have The Huntress or DwayneDibbley had babies yet? We're all due the same day.....

My tummy has settled down, alas.

Had the usual mammoth cramp on waking which sent me to the loo, a small clear-out and since then, nothing .

although today I feel so exhausted I can barely walk up the stairs, and DS is having to spend most of the day stuck indoors glued to the TV (hate hate hate doing that).

Wiz i never had any kind of show with DS and my waters only broke when I stepped out of the lovely relaxing birthing pool so I'm not expecting to see anything this time around either, i'll just wait for the regular period pains. Braxtons are quite hardcore at the moment but theres no mistaking the real thing .

Really counting down now - my 2 year old is taking no prisoners.

thighsmadeofcheddar · 15/04/2010 15:18

Hi Dwayne,

Oh wow, 3 sweeps. Hopefully it gets moving for you tonight. I had one on Monday. A rather vigorous one, to be honest. But nothing came of it. I'm just too knackered to bother asking for more of them. I'm feeling so enormous, my pelvis is about to give out. Well that's how it feel anywho.

How you handling the 500 messages a day from people? I swear I could murder my mother.

AdelaideJo · 15/04/2010 15:19

Dwayne did they give you Entonox when you had your sweep(s)? I really hated getting one last time (despite sucking up the gas n air) so am kind of dreading it this time if its going to be at a midwifery appointment. Wimp.

AdelaideJo · 15/04/2010 15:21

I'm shaking at Thighs description of 'vigorous'...bloody hell!

thighsmadeofcheddar · 15/04/2010 15:23

AdelaideJo - if I could of had a vodka tonic I would of necked it. I've had sweeps before with DD1 and this was nothing like it!!

Are you living here in the UK? I'm an Aussie too.

AdelaideJo · 15/04/2010 15:28

Ooo i'm not - I have the most uninspired posting name in the world - based on the name of the apartment block I used to live in .

The first sweep I had was from a junior doctor with really stumpy fingers - she gave up as she couldn't find anything. The second one was my midwife when I was about 3/4cm dilated. It was a total "oh" moment - DP said I looked so shocked (because I thought her sausage-sized fingers were going to come out of my mouth!).

From what I've heard, sweeps are fine, I just was a bit pathetic over it at the time!

AdelaideJo my DP was laughing at me as when I thought I was having contractions the other night and the day after, I also had to go poo! This doesn't seem to be all that unusual then!
Whether I was having contractions or not (I'm pretty sure it was) they've stopped now
Midwife said today the baby's head is 1/5 engaged now and if he's not on time I get a sweep on 25th April.
I'm having more sex this week than in the whole of the 9-10 months so far and have just bought another pineapple..

AdelaideJo · 15/04/2010 21:21

rumple your very last sentence is really funny when you read it in a kind of isolated way - its a great quote!

My hips seem to be moving out for the first time today. I've had huge intake of breath at the pain a couple of times when i've turned around suddenly and my hip socket has SCREAMED at me. No more poo-ing but the baby is trying to claw its way out this evening which it hasn't done the last couple of days.

I'm waiting for DH to return with a box of FAB ice lollies for me...

(he has chilli beef and rice take away which I want but am scared to eat).

Jennysbean · 15/04/2010 21:45

Its comforting knowing people are in the same boat!
I have a sweep tomorrow so (ahem) fingers crossed.....
I had one last time and it was fine, more uncomfortable with the fact that there was a student there with the consultant! Bless him though, I had DD on my birthday and he came to find me in the ward to say happy birthday and congratulations!
Lets see what the weekend brings.......
xx

BedtimeBear · 15/04/2010 22:46

Big congratulations to everyone who's LO's have arrived . I'm not a regular poster on this thread but have been following others and just wanted to take myself off the list.. Jennysbean good luck...

Boodstress · 16/04/2010 13:11

Yay, Congrats helenwombat, great you avoided induction, love the name Noah! Happy to hear about the 'gruellingness' of the labour, most of the labours reported have been very positive but maybe we should address the balance a bit?? (whilst hoping they don't get progressively worse as the month goes on since I am at the end of it ) Congrats also to BedtimeBear, love the image of the little muchkin asleep on your lap, I can't wait to cuddle my little one

flybynight · 16/04/2010 13:59

I haven't been on for ages - all these babies! Congrats Bettymum, helenwombat, BedtimeBear. Can't wait until the school holidays have ended, then I can relax and have my baby!

Congratulations new mummies!!! Noah's such a lovely name...feel like that's all I say these days hehe...have you chose your little one's name yet bettymum, or have I mised it? I love hearing all things 'name'..my sister's due in july and think she's fed up of me asking if she's thought any more on names yet

thedollshouse · 16/04/2010 17:12

Congratulations BedtimeBear and HelenWombat!

Jennysbean I hope the sweep proves successful. I have mine booked for Monday, bit nervous but has to be done I suppose.
