congratulations bettymum the bunnies are hopping out fast, love the birth stories.....

lineky · 13/04/2010 19:14

Great minds Neeko - I did the same today with the Floradix. I like the taste though

rumpleteaser · 13/04/2010 20:28

Loving the birth stories, I feel proud of everyone! Is that strange?!

I only just realised that the tightnings I was having were Braxton Hicks and now I suspect I might be having contractions but I'm still unsure of wether it's wind or something stomachy.
Currently researching contractions online.

After sex last night, I had very crampy periody pains and they kept me awake in waves all night and had a few today as well. But both times I had to do a poo as well.. sorry TMI.. but... is that normal? Is this contractions?

Zeeky · 13/04/2010 20:43

Sounds a lot like early labour rumpleteaster. Last time mine felt like trapped wind or period pain but were coming and going, so eventually realised it must be contractions.

Often, your body has a clear-out in preparation for labour, so that maybe what all the poos are about .

Good luck!

mears · 13/04/2010 21:15

neeko try [http://www.nelsonsnaturalworld.com/en-gb/uk/our-brands/spatone/ spatone]

Much easier on the tummy and better absorbed than iron tablets. I am sure you can get it in Boots.

Glad Hannah is doing well.Promise I won't stalk you. Thanks for nice comments. You were a star

well done betty lovely news.
holding on here, had really painful contractions last night after a really active day where I felt I had more energy than in last 4 months! Was convinced things were kicking off but alas, here I am this morning still intact, no contractions but stabbing pains in my nethers and I cant walk very easily.
4 days over now but seeing midwife later today so hopefully she can assess me and assure me......
hope all well
xx

pillia78 · 14/04/2010 09:53

Rumplteaser sounds promising! Contractions are like very severe period pain but the pain can start in your back. It is a bit like the grumbly ache you get a couple of days before your period, however Braxton Hicks are the same pain.
Having said that when I had DS2 I had regular tightenings of my bump which I didn't really notice but were apparently contractions!!

thedollshouse · 14/04/2010 09:53

Jennysbean - I'm having problems with walking too, I was wondering if it was the onset of spd, feels like someone is trying to pull my thigh out of its socket. Took ds to the park yesterday evening as I was feeling really guilty that he had been cooped up all day but what should have been a 5 minute walk ended up taking 25 minutes! Ended up staying there until dh arrived home from work as I couldn't walk home again.

I really want this baby to come now but I don't have any pre-symptom labour pains at all. The phonecalls have started now and are starting to irritate me, our phone is on a really short ring before it switches to voicemail and we can't change it so the phone rings off before I actually get to answer it. I don't want to ring people back to say "no I still haven't gone into labour" we have told everyone that we will ring them when we have news so why do they keep ringing? Dh received a text message from friends on Sunday asking if the baby had arrived and he said no, then received another one on Monday to which he replied and said we will let you know as soon as we have any news, he then received one from them yesterday morning and yesterday afternoon, and then he has just texted me to say that he received another one from them this morning! I wouldn't mind but until Sunday we hadn't heard from them in months. I really regret telling people the due date, I should have added another few weeks on!

Neeko · 14/04/2010 09:54

Thanks mears, I'll try that. Now if you could just sort out Hannah's wind and lack of poos...
P.S. Stalk me all you like - you're still up there in my list of 5 favourite people!

Won't be long now Jennysbean and Rumpleteaser

rumpleteaser · 14/04/2010 10:13

Thanks zeeky, now looking forward to them starting again!

Hi
Dwayne and Dollshouse, with you on the texts and phonecalls!! Standard reply is " you'll be the first to know"!! it is all well meant but can be a tad annoying! if i ever do this again and thats a big if I will be telling people a different due date!
My parents have just taken DD away to play in their garden - packed emergency pair of pyjamas in case something happens....
anyone else eating for 6 at the moment, I ate 4 bowls of chilli last night......just craving food all the time! dread to think how I am going to shift the bambino weight....

ray81 · 14/04/2010 12:40

Jennysbean and Thedollhouse - i am having problems walking too, whenever i do DD pushes down realy hard and the pain is awful. went for a nice long SLOW walk yesterday to try and get things moving and nothing happened at all. She seems to be getting too big now every movement is realy prononced and some of them hurt but hopefully not long now.

I havent had to field the calls as yet, not due for 13 days though so am sure it will start soon!!!

I have heard that Black Cohash is meant to be good for getting things going, i cant take it as am on blood thinners but for those that can maybe its work a try.

Jennysbean i am eating for 6 aswell, i dont feel hungry until i start eating and then i cant seem to be able to stop have only put on 13lbs up til now but if a carry on like this and she is late im sure i will be as big as a house. On that note am off to have some lunch.

Bettymum · 14/04/2010 13:02

Sending lots of encouragement to those who sound like they're in early labour! Dwayne sounds like things might be on the move for you.
Sorry for making some of you cry at my story, the pushing thing was just so so weird as I had an epidural and a whole load of drugs with DD, and therefore had no idea what it felt like to actually have a baby. I don't think I'll ever forget that moment - I hope I don't anyway, it was very special in a strange way.
BFing is going really well this time, which is great as I really struggled last time, we haven't got a name for DS yet but DH has been calling him a fat little Buddha as he's got such chubby chops and at least two chins .

Mistymoo · 14/04/2010 14:16

I hope everyone is doing OK.

I had my scan yesterday to confirm that the baby was still head down which it is so am delighted. The lady doing the scan said it was in a perfect position for delivery and she couldn't measure it's head because it was so far down.

I haven't had too many calls but I do remember that when my SIL was due I sent her a text to ask her how she was, not "are you still here then" or "are you in labour". I was genuinely asking about her and I got a text back to say "I will tell you if anything happens". I was quite hurt because I knew she would let me know I just wanted her to know that I was thinking of her. I knew what it was like already having had 2 dc and both were late I knew what not to say. I'm very conscious of others feelings now.

thedollshouse · 14/04/2010 15:44

Its difficult isn't it Mistymoo, I don't mind receiving calls when I think people are genuinely concerned about how you are feeling, its the constant ones asking for updates that bother me. I have had some texts from friends asking if I have had the baby who rarely bother to contact me otherwise. I had one today which just said "update?" I just ignored it as I thought if they couldn't even be bothered to say hi then I can't be bothered to provide updates particularly as I had already replied to a text message from them on Monday.

I think my pregnancy hormones are making me extra sensitive at the moment. One of my sisters phoned the other day and her first question was "How fat have you got?" She then asked me to go upstairs and weigh myself on the bathroom scales and ring her back and let her know how much weight I had put on! I'm feeling sensitive enough about my weight as it is and I certainly don't want my weight to be the talk of her household!

I have also got myself into a bit of a tricky situation. I haven't told my mum that I have been in contact with my father for a couple of years, it was one of those situations where the longer you leave it the harder it becomes. I assumed she knew because they have some mutual friends and also before I contacted him he would ring my mum for updates on me and send cards for ds via my mum which he no longer does as he has my address. Anyway he tried to phone me today but because he couldn't get hold of me at first he then decided to phone my mum and ask her if I had had the baby, he has just phoned me and apparantly she had no idea that I had been in contact with him. I now have a missed call on my phone from my mum, I don't know what to say it feels like I have been deceitful for the last couple of years, I don't want to deal with this now. Communication skills are somewhat lacking in my family!

ray81 · 14/04/2010 15:55

Thedollshouse- what a tricky situation, i would call your mum back and act like nothing has happened and if she says anything just plead ignorant and say you thought she knew and its not a big deal etc etc hopefully then it wont be an issue. I can understand how you feel i hate confrontation and would not want to speak to her for fear of it getting into an argument.
Goodluck let us know how it goes.

eastendmummy · 14/04/2010 16:29

Now Isaac is a week old, I thought I would jot down my birth story. It's long!

The birth of DS1 was a very long and drawn out affair and ended up in an em-cs which I found it easy to recover from physically but not emotionally. With this pregnancy I had a lot of issues around the birth and was really lucky that the hospital (a different one to where I had DS1) we very supportive and organised for me to have all my care with the same midwife at home. That helped hugely and enabled me to contemplate a VBAC. Anyway, that's the background ...

Last Tuesday (6th), I was 39 + 5 and mw came to see me at home. I was feeling good and sleeping well, not suffering too much with end of pregnancy niggles, but thought I'd ask her to do a sweep, just so I could either prepare myself for a wait, or gear myself up for an imminent arrival. Anyway, she agreed, and I was already 4 cms dilated! I'd been having lots of BH but absolutely no pain and with DS1 it took a lot of pain to get to 4 cms so I was in shock. I felt fine all day, picked up DS1 from nursery, and let MIL know that things may be starting sooner rather than later.

At 7pm I had dinner, thought I'd have a bath although at this point had no pain whatsoever. Had a soak, then when I got out saw that I'd lost the mucas plug in the bath. It was almost 8pm and as soon as I got out of the bath, I started to have strong contractions 3 mins apart. I was home alone with DS1 in bed coughing and really unsettled so texted DH to come home and let MIL know to come when they good. Was coping OK with the pain for the first hour, then all of a sudden the contractions became overwhelming strong. I called MW who said she was on her way.

DH came home about 9 ish after cycling 14 miles across London! Bless him, he came into a pitch black house, with me groaning away on the bathroom floor. Our neighbour had heard the noises, so she came over to see if I was OK and stayed with me while DH showered and got things ready to go into hospital.

MW arrived about 945 and checked me and I was fully dilated! I was pushing on the bed and she prepared everything for a home birth as she could see the head and said that as soon as waters went then he'd be born!! i think I was in shock as I'd been preparing myself for a controlled VBAC! Anyway, waters went, but it then became apparant that Isaac wasn't facing down so despite pushing my heart out, he wasn't moving.

The mw called an ambulance and 20 mins later I was on the delivery ward - getting into the ambulance when pushing is not fun! I pushed for almost 3 hours, but in the end went into theatre and had an epidural so that they could use a kiwi on Isaac's head to turn him and then forceps to lift him out. Had an episiotomy but the surgeon was lovely, explained everything and did a brilliant job so discomfort has been minimal.

The whole thing was over in 5 hours with 3 of those pushing. I felt amazing though and delighted to avoid a c-section. I'm still shocked at how fast he was born and can't believe I almost had him at home!

Isaac's fab, feeding brilliantly and hasn't lost any of his birth weight - has actually gained which after a difficult time bf DS1 is amazing!

We're getting used to being a family of 4 and DS1 is being great with the baby.

Sorry that this ended up being so long! Well done to everyone who's had their baby recently and good luck for all the imminent arrivals.

Snowtiger · 14/04/2010 17:31

Congrats bettymum and well done eastendmummy so good you managed to avoid a c-section.

typing one fingered here while BFing Wilf forgive appalling lack of punctuation! Good luck to you overdue ladies, hope things happen soon and go well x

thedollshouse · 14/04/2010 17:42

ray81. I phoned my mum and she said that she had a phonecall from my father and that he knew all about the baby and everything, she was worried that I thought she had given him my telephone number and wanted to reassure me that she hadn't. So all is well, I was worried that she might be upset but I think she was more confused than anything!

Great birth story eastendmummy, really hope I can avoid a c-section too! To think 5 weeks ago I was really upset when I discovered that the baby had turned and I wouldn't be having a c-section but now I have had time to get my head around it I desperately don't want a second c-section and am really hoping that this baby arrives before my elective on 23rd April!

I can't believe I am overdue its a bit of a novelty in our family as most babies seem to arrive around the 37/38 week mark.

AdelaideJo · 14/04/2010 19:31

I'm not due for another 8 days but I need to hear poo tales (sorry if TMI!).

I've been suffering from an upset tummy for 2 days now - no sickness just the other end

It starts off with a horrendous period type pain (exactly like my previous experience of contractions) which ends with me rushing to the loo! Has anybody experienced this as part of early labour? Sorry if this is distasteful but I really need to know as I'm kind of afraid to eat much at the moment despite being starving hungry!
