rlp · 30/03/2010 12:26

My midwife was due to visit me at home this morning for 36 week check and to deliver homebirth kit - but she seems to have vanished off the face of the earth! I have left 2 answerphone messages. I hope it is easier than this to get attention when I go into labour! I suspect that she has been called out to a birth or emergency but I would have liked a phone call from someone to rearrange the appointment.

rlp · 30/03/2010 12:42

Someone from the office finally called to rearrange and apologise - but it was all due to a homebirth so I understand.

thedollshouse · 30/03/2010 13:26

tostaky Renerusso is still around, she started a baby name thread yesterday.

Big congratulations Neeko - great news and a little girl - lovely! Nicnacinoonoo I am sure they were right about it being a girl but if its any consolation I am hoping for a girl but can't tell many people for fear its a boy and people will think I don't want him if its a him.

BTW Ray81 we got our second cotbed from Mamas & Papas sale last week, it comes with a changing thing on top and a drawer on wheels undeneath, its white and really lovely. We actually got the display one and went along with our alan key to avoid the 25 quid delivery charge..very thrifty of us (V unusual) but the regular one is £250 plus delivery I think.

ray81 · 30/03/2010 14:52

Nicnac - people do look at you funny dont they when you say you cant sleep, i realy do feel awful after asleep in the day unless of course i am ill. Glad i am not the only one who cant.

Stinky- so pleased you have gone on to have children, they were practically telling us we wouldnt have any more children when i fell this time and luckily had just found out why i kept losing so i started the injections immediatley which have done the trick. I think because it has taken us so long and the mc i just keep expecting something awful to happen, i am probably being irrational but realy cant help it.

Boodstress My MIL is buying us the cot so we dont need one of those however i didnt want the furniture to go with it as it cost a firtune and was a little wardrobe and changing cabnet where as i want a big wardrobe and chest of draws, the cot is white so just need white furniture. Seriously you wouldnt think it would be so hard to get the one that you want. it is so annoying

Right off for school pick, about to get wet. wish the rain would go away

Boodstress · 30/03/2010 15:00

OMG my 2 yr old (just) DS who I tucked up in his cot at 1.30 has just arrived in the sitting room saying Hi Hi Hi and waving. The new cleaner left the gates opened but how the HELL did he get out of his cot ...just what I need before the baby comes..ahhhh stress

PrincessTweetz · 30/03/2010 15:38

Congrats to Neeko
Nicnac..my dd is really good with Jude at the moment..she really likes to help out whenever I'm doing anything, she empties the little pot of water into the bath for me when I've changed his nappy, she insists on putting the nappies in the bin, and anything she can't do, she copies onto her dolls....she's started putting breast pads down her top though, and tried rubbing cream into her 'mipples', and I've even been asked to feed her doll!!! Although today she showed her first sign of annoyance at him, when she was watching Show Me Show Me on CBeebies, and I was changing Jude, he was crying, and she looked at him and said shush Jude, I'm trying to watch T.V!!!!!!! Made me laugh sooooo much....I do have to watch her though when she's trying to love him, she can sometimes be a bit hands on...I just try and let her hold him at certain times in the day, so she knows she can 'play' with him, but that when he's in his basket she has to only look and not touch. So far, so good...I expressed for the first time last night, and after his 2hour feeding stint, i gave him an additional ounce and half, and managed to get a full 5 hours sleep from 9.30pm...woke up feeling very good this morning!!!!
Hope everyone's feeling ok...I'll be watching the last One Born Every Minute tonight with my lil man, overwhelmed that this time last week I never had him to cuddle! xx

thedollshouse · 30/03/2010 17:42

PrincessTweetz you sound like you are doing fantastically well with the breast feeding, might be after your advice shortly.

Last day at school for ds tomorrow, hooray! It hasn't been fun doing the school run only wearing one shoe! Hopefully after the easter holidays I will be pushing a pram in the playground rather than carrying this massive bump!

Zeeky · 30/03/2010 19:09

Congratulations to Neeko - looking forward to hearing your birth story soon. I'm hoping for a water birth too.

Had an ante-natal appointment at the hospital today. We have decided to change to a midwife-led unit at the last minute, so they needed to see me just to check that I was low risk. When the doctor measured me, she thought my bump was a little small for my dates, so wanted me to have another scan. Luckily they were able to do it straight away. Instead of being small, the baby was measuring above average in all areas, and already weighs 7lb 12oz ! The doc also said that as I was 9 days late with DS it was likely that I would go a week over this time too. So that means I still have 4 weeks to go, by which time the baby would be nearly 10lb . Not sure if I'll be able to squeeze that out with just hypnobirthing and no pain relief

Better go and pack some larger size vests and sleepsuits in my hospital bag just in case!!!

I've also started having to get up every 2 hours in the night to wee. Was only getting up once which wasn't too bad, but now with the weeing and aching/restless legs, I'm finding it really tiring. If I have a nap in the daytime it just means that I have trouble getting to sleep at night, so it doesn't really help.

ReneRusso · 30/03/2010 20:48

Had my planned csection today and have a very beautiful baby girl weighing 8lbs. I was terrified after haemorrage last time but everything was ok. She is feeding well already. I will be in for a few more days, thank god for the iPhone. Still haven't settled on a name, please post on my baby name thread if you get the chance! Best wishes to all x

HoopsAndBelly · 30/03/2010 21:24

still cant sleep so Im going to watch one born every minute now....

Mistymoo · 31/03/2010 07:34

Congratulations rene. Glad all went well.

I'm sure baby was trying to turn last night but I don't think it's suceeded. I'm in the situation now that I don't want to start labour yet until they try to turn baby but at the same time I'm ready as I'm so uncomfortable.

nicnacinoonoo · 31/03/2010 08:06

congratulations rene glad everything went well, hopefully i will be in the same boat tomorrow. dont have a fancy phone or anything though so wont be able to post on here until i am out of hospital which will most likely be saturday or sunday.

tostaky my due date was the 9th but changed the list when i got my section date which is tomorrow. getting nervous now but cant wait at the same time.

princess wow sounds brilliant i hope i do as well as you. ds seems happy about it so far and keeps telling me about all the things he's going to teach the baby. he is 4 so he has a fairly good understanding of everthing.

good luck tonight hoops hope things happen fast for you.

Oh lord, pregnancy hormones. I just heard "Slipping Through My Fingers" by Abba on the radio, and now I can't stop crying. Really crying! Nose running, shoulders shaking, whole lot. Oaf!
