my dd has been having bad pains today every 6 mins been for a check up had a few tightnings ,but has an infection babys head is 3/5 engaged shes 35wks

rlp · 27/03/2010 00:11

Rumpleteaser - I am able to get a couple of drops of colostrum (I twiddle in the bath out of curiosity) but I am by no means leaking milk - and that is after successfully feeding DD for 3 years (she stopped voluntarily as I got to 13 weeks in this pregnancy) so I don't think leaking is necessary for reasonable supply when needed.

stinkypinky · 27/03/2010 08:57

Rumpleteaser - my nips are crusty (nice) by the evening, and I can express colostrum easily, but not leaking to the point of pads needed. I had nothing like this for DD pre birth, but fed for 1 year. If there is any leakage, it is good (apparently) to massage it into nip and leave to dry - helps toughen 'em up for when the little hoover gets to them.

Nearly 37 weeks, and FED UP!

Neeko · 27/03/2010 10:03

It is getting exciting on here. Hope there's a few more babies this weekend (and mine is one - but doesn't seem likely) Take care all and have a good weekend!

stinkypinky · 27/03/2010 10:37

Fingers crossed for you Neeko - I remember well how frustrating it is being overdue.

rumpleteaser · 27/03/2010 11:07

Ahh thanks for all your nipple advice. I'm finding all sorts of other things in my bra as stomach gets in the way when I eat, but no milk! DP keeps squeezing them. Will just have to see what happens.

I have actually been nesting! I cleaned the bathroom - myself - and bought loads of bedding and curtains and stuff!
Am very very uncomfortable now, gonna have a hot curry tonight, I want my body back now!

Good luck to everyone!

HoopsAndBelly · 27/03/2010 13:01

hello everyone, another false alarm last night, woke up with v painful contractions at about midnight, they were coming every 6 minutes, thought 'this is it' so got my mother and sister up and went in, attached to monitor and was contracting nicely but waters haven't gone and STILL sitting at 2 cms dilated so they sent me home........

This is getting really frusrating now, I just want my little boy in my arms but he's having none of it

Mum made me walk around the 24 hour ASDA and made me buy a gym ball, so will be bouncing on it later today

HoopsAndBelly · 27/03/2010 13:16

also going to watch my local footie team play in the hope that this will move me on a bit......

hope that we get some more birth announcements over the weekend.....come on ladies....we need more babies

tostaky · 27/03/2010 13:56

well Tuesday the 30th is the full moon... so our babies may well wait until then.

then again I checked for DS and although he was born on the full moon i was being induced with the drip that day so it doesnt count!!!

Sending plenty of strong contractions towards Hoops and Neeko

rlp · 27/03/2010 14:11

Quoting from chegirlWILLbeserene "although MW keeps saying 'it could be any time' in a panicky way"

Why on earth would a MW panic about an imminent birth? What do they gain by encouraging a mum to panic?
I am also planning a homebirth and am glad to have a good attitude from my MW although she is part time so there is a fair chance I will have to make do with a substitute in the end.

P.S. How do you quote messages on here?

chegirlWILLbeserene · 27/03/2010 15:58

rip who knows? Its not panicking me anyway . I think she is doing it because my iron is a bit low and she wanted to make me worry about that.

ilovesprouts how is your DD doing today? Anything happening?

I was woken by some pains in my pelvic area again last night. They are not BH because they are in the wrong place and I have been getting them since about 17 weeks anyway!

Apparently women who have had several children (that mw has now made me feel like a brood mare) can have a reallllllly long first stage of labour (was long with DS3) which is very mild.

So you never know......

Hope everyone is well. I cant believe we are all on the verge. It doesnt seem long ago that I was umming and ahhhing about joining the April thread in case it was too soon

ilovesprouts · 27/03/2010 16:27

she was on the moniter for a while babys hb was racing they said he was excited ,had a few tightnings but shes ok just resting dont think she will go 5 wk tho!!ive two gc on the way april 30th may 9th both boys

chegirlWILLbeserene · 27/03/2010 16:35

How lovely and exciting for you Ilove.

I wish you and your family all the best and hope everything goes beautifully

Neeko · 27/03/2010 17:55

Oh Hoops you are going through the wars. Hope all your efforts pay off today.

Thanks for the positive thoughts Stinkypinky and Totsaky Having regular braxtons this afternoon so maybe they'll become proper contractions.

Can't wait until we have a lovely long list of graduates on here. Have a good Saturday night everyone.

Jennysbean · 27/03/2010 19:10

Congratulations to the new mums!! Brilliant news and will be thinking of the imminent ones too!
I have been really struggling with lower back ache and braxton hicks, waddled into town this morning and really felt like I could go any time! felt a bit vulnerable actually......
38 weeks today and could have another 3 weeks of feeling like this which is a thought!! Och well, just going to get on with things and make nice plans like cinema and nice lunches, totally living outside my means now - what can you do!?
Have a good Saturday night, DH is making me a lovely curry while I watch garbage on TV ......magic!

nicnacinoonoo · 28/03/2010 08:45

im with you on the lunches jennysbean i think most of my money has gone on meals out these past few months. going for lunch with my mum and dad today though so they will be paying

4 days left for me. going to make sure all the washing is done and put away and all my floors are clean today and tomorrow. and so help me god if dh treads his muddy work boots on my floors.
getting a carpet cleaner in for the hallway so dont have to worry about that, as long as he can come in time.

they have now said my mattress will be in on tuesday. if it is not there they are going to have to deal with a hormonal pregnant woman having a complete meltdown on them!

rumple mine leaked a few tiny drops out a few weeks ago when i squeezed, but now they arent doing anymore and its been worrying me too. last time at this point if i went without a bra i had wet patches on my top and my nipples were crusty by the evening too like stinkypinky. but this time nothing. ditto on the bra crumb catching though

Hello everyone...bfeeding at mo so forgive me if any mistakes hehe my nipples are soooo sore ...love th line about th little hoover stinkypinky I CERTtainly have a lil hoover in Jude!!
Just for any second time mums, my afterpains were awful for first 2 days, but they have settled down LOADS!! i am mch more comfortble now....they're more like a belly ache and much less often than I was getting them...just make sure you do as LITTLE as you possibly can, sometimes I thought I'd be ok to do a couple of jobs, but before I even knew it, the pains were there and made me feel bad....I wish I hadn't been so stubborn!
For second time mums already,I was told as I'd breastfed my dd for 5 months, my milk would be in quicker than before...I think it may be starting to come in as my boobs are startinfg to feel fuul and lumpy when Jude hasn't been fed for a while...can they feel like this when you've only got collustrum??? I was going to ask midwife yesterday but she didn't turn up!
All in all, I'm feeling ok....my tear has got sore now, but think it's cuz it's healing..still trying to urge myself to use the toilet..... I'm scared haha!!!
Hope everyone's ok....I'm feeling very lucky now cuz it was my due date today, and I've already had 3 days with my lil man...and the fact I'M STARTING TO FEEL MORE LIKE NORMAL NOW AS WELL MAKES IT EVEN MORE BETTER...yAY!!! Sorry...didn't mean to shout that bit haha! Fotos will be up at the next possible op..someone's calling me hehe!! I do keep reading all the posts tho, and am wishing everyone the best of luck for any activity over the next few days!! xxx

PrincessTweetz · 28/03/2010 09:53

Oooh....my boobs never leaked through the pregnancy, only had a few drops if I squeezed the nipples lol, but I've had no trouble at all breast feeeding, so don't let it worry you too much....also, I'm still waiting on my car seat!!!!
They said 8 weeks max, and it will be 8 weeks tomorrow,, so hopefully I'll be sending dp out to pick it up at some point during the day!!!!

nicnacinoonoo · 28/03/2010 12:08

oooooo you are so lucky to be starting to feel normal princess and having your beautiful boy for cuddles of course. really nice to here you are doing so well
how has your dc been about the new arrival?

rumpleteaser · 28/03/2010 12:32

hoops I'm impressed you still sound so cheerful, it must be so frustrating and I don't think I'd be so calm!

Someone suggested to me being pushed on a swing will get things going - I'd be a lil' worried about breaking the swing or DP not being able to push me though.

My dad reckons I'm gonna pop on the 30th which is my scan date and DPs birthday - and a full moon. Hope he's right!

Snowtiger · 28/03/2010 13:00

Hi all, exciting to hear everyone's news although Hoops and Neeko I bet you're climbing the walls, hope things get moving soon.

I put my parents on amber alert last night as I was having lots of braxton hicks, strong period-type grumbly pains (which I've had since Friday) and feeling sick and odd, but nothing's happened so we're carrying on as normal. DH had a little treat yesterday morning so perhaps it was just me thinking that had set me off, but DS2 clearly isn't in a hurry to come along any time soon. Still I'm only 38 weeks today so like you Jennysbean it could be another 3 weeks. Bloody hope it isn't. I really want little one to arrive before Easter so we get the extra two bank holidays as part of DH's paternity leave!!

Curry again tonight...!!!

Zeeky · 28/03/2010 14:43

Just been to an NCT nearly new sale and picked up loads of bargains - the last few bits of equipment that we need for baby (Mamas & Papas moses basket rocking stand for £2 & a M&P bouncy chair for £5, both like new !!!!!!)

Feeling pooped now though. Baby has been moving around wildly the last day or two, like it's trying to fight it's way out. It moved so violently last night that I nearly fell off the sofa as it made me jump so much!
Not quite 37 weeks yet though, so think I've got a while longer until it pops out.

rlp · 28/03/2010 15:34

Are you sure you would benefit from the Bank Holidays? there are some strange rules and a teacher friend I have spoken to was told that half term would still count as one of his 2 weeks of paternity leave unless he took annual leave for the couple of days before it and then started paternity leave officially as the school went back. I think you might be best to go into labour Thursday night! As for me - I'm not 37 weeks until Sat and as I want a homebirth that matters - but I don't want to wait until 42 weeks as DD1 did!
