hello everyone, well still here, football didn't budge him, the stewards were all hovering near me and looking quite worried.......but despite me jumping around when we scored 2 goals mini-hoops stayed put.....

yes am starting to climb the walls, don't know what else I can do to bring it on, I am getting induced on wednesday so whatever happens, this time next week he should be here.......can't stand all this waiting about just want a little baby to put in the gorgeous pram I have

Hope everyone is feeling fab and not getting too fed up, princess sounds like your having fun and I'm quite

thedollshouse · 28/03/2010 16:27

How swollen can I get before I explode?

I can only manage to get flip flops on which is great if we get the snow that they keep talking about. My face is huge and my eyes which normally look quite large look like tiny piggy eyes. My bump is gigantic, I was nowhere near this big with ds. Dh even admitted that he doesn't think he has ever seen a pregnant woman as large as me before.

I'm going to start on the raspberry leaf tea today I think.

I hope everyone is well. Who will be next? I'm thinking mini Hoops might be here before the weekend is out.

tostaky · 28/03/2010 17:34

DS is away at my parents so we are making the most of our free time!! A lie-in this morning, breakfast in bed, then a swim and lunch outside and tonight a movie with friends!

but what i really want is my baby now though!!!

Im a bit as i have a stretchmark now. it is a small one at the top of my belly button... when i told my mum about it she said i will get more during labour as she did... Not really happy about it bc i avoided them with DS and though i wouldnt get some either this time around... or maybe it is bc i put too much on weight??

snowtiger you should check about the paternity leave, i dont think this is how it works but maybe im wrong!

hoops how do you get induced? just a sweep? or the gel/the drip?
Ive got until the 9th to ask for a sweep before they book me in for a c-section (cant be induced as i had a c-section with DS)

Bettymum · 28/03/2010 17:44

Hello ladies,
I'm having a quiet afternoon as DH has taken DD out, feeling pooped again today. Good to catch up on everyone's news, I wonder if we will get a sudden rush of babies on the full moon? One of DH's friends came round on Friday night, he saw me and his first comment was "bl**dy hell you're massive!" which made me feel a bit . I mean I know I'm pregnant, but my bump doesn't look that huge when I'm looking down on it! It obviously looks bigger from the side.

HoopsAndBelly · 28/03/2010 17:59

tostaky have already had a sweep last wednesday but didn't work, so am having the pessary/gel this wednesday, am being induced because of my crippling SPD, can hardly walk and am all alone, DP flew to Afganistan today, everyone was really hoping mini-hoops would meet his daddy but it wasn't to be

bettymum I was born on a full moon, really hoping mini-hoops will be too.....

Am feeling really weird today, not myself at all, I keep being sick, is this a sign? I bloody hope so, just want to meet my son now

Bettymum · 28/03/2010 18:15

Hoops, I am keeping you in my thoughts all the time if that helps?! I thought your DP had already flown out and I was thinking how hard it would be for him too, with you going through all this and him miles away. That's a real shame he's not going to see his wee boy till he gets back again. Sending you nice labour vibes now x

HoopsAndBelly · 28/03/2010 18:20

no he left mine on the 6th of march to go back to his base but wasn't flying until today, the army said if mini-hoops came before today they would let him visit (i live in bournemouth and he is based in north yorkshire)

I feel a bit sad but know that he's got a job to do....just hope and pray he comes back in 1 piece

stinkypinky · 28/03/2010 18:21

Oh poor hoops - so sorry DH has gone. My DH is a PITA, but I still want him near..

Thedollshouse - has a midwife seen your swelling? It sounds pretty bad, and when it is facial it can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. Was it you that had it a while back??? Just me being concerned - do not want to alarm you, but would never forgive myself I did not say anything and you were poorley.

Have just cooked a lovely roast pork dinner - had my parents around. It was very very lovely, but am a tad pooped.

Nesting plus plus - all ready for baby except that cannot find the fixings to put the cot together (DH put them somewhere safe)

Have ELCS booked for 21st but think baby will be early.

Snowtiger · 28/03/2010 19:43

Hoops I can't imagine what it must be like to be feeling like this and not have your DH nearby, I really hope you've got lots of RL support - and we're always here to listen if you need a shoulder.

With DS1 I felt really weird and sick on the day that I went into labour - which is why I was convinced things were going to happen yesterday as I felt that way then too, but nothing so far. Here's hoping that mini-Hoops comes along soon, being induced doesn't sound like much fun.

Thanks everyone who's said about paternity leave - I'll get DH to check with his work / HR. He's in the middle of delivering a huge project at the moment though so I'm not expecting him to be at home and devoted to me for the entire fortnight anyway - think he's going to be keeping one eye on DS1 and the other on his laptop / blackberry for most of it! Then again as long as he doesn't spend the entire fortnight reshaping the lawn and cutting the hedge like he did last time I don't mind. He's under strict instructions that paternity leave is NOT the same as gardening leave!!

Speaking of which, I spent this afternoon moving pots of tulips and crocuses around the patio and then weeded the entire vegetable bed on my hands and knees, in the hope that it would get something happening... but no. Instead I just ache like hell and my hips are killing me but at least I've had some fresh air and exercise, and can think about buying some veg seeds / plug plants. Might as well do something useful while I wait for DS2. It's either that or scrub the skirting boards with a toothbrush / alphabetise my bookshelves.

Hey ho, won't be long now one way or another for all of us. Let's enjoy it while we can. Fingers crossed for that full moon eh?

chegirlWILLbeserene · 28/03/2010 20:33

Hoops sorry about your DP not being around.

When I had my DD 18 years ago my OH was waiting for demob. He got out just before she was born. I didnt know till he turned up on my doorstep

For ladies who are worried about lack of leaking. Dont fret. I dont get that at all now. I only ever got it with DD (DC1) and havnt had it with any of my subsequent pgs.

You will be full of milk before you know it!

Stinkypinky yeah I have had this swelling for a while now, midwife not concerned because my blood pressure is only 102/62 and urine is clear. I didn't have it during the pregnancy with ds but I did have it afterwards although I'm sure it wasn't quite this bad.

Also seem to have developed tinnitus again. I had it for most of the pregnancy with ds1 but it was bearable it was like a kind of whoosing sound. This time I thought I had escaped it but it came back a few days ago this time everything echoes and it sounds like I have trains in my ear. Might see if the GP can syringe my ears to see if it makes any difference.

My thoughts are with you Hoops. Hope mini Hoops arrives soon.

HoopsAndBelly · 28/03/2010 21:30

thanks for your thoughts ladies, I have loads of support in RL and am quite a positive person anyway so I should be ok

just really looking forward to meeting my little boy and keep talking to my bump asking when he thinks he's going to make an appearance, have found myself doing it in the street [cue people crossing the street to get away from crazy lady], anyone else found themselves doing this???

chegirl you make us sound like a herd of cows

chegirlWILLbeserene · 28/03/2010 22:14

LOL hoops

Thats better than feeling like a knackered old brood mare which is how my MW made me feel last week!

What with the millions of kids that have dropped out of my raddled old womb

Hoops I do that too Here's hoping your boy decides to put in an appearance at the 11th hour.

Is anyone else being inundated with calls/texts from well-meaning friends and relatives asking for news? Think everyone I know believes I'd have the baby and not tell them!

Ok. What are you all looking forward to after the birth? (other than having a baby to cuddle) It can be as random as you like and will help to distract me!

Here's a few of mine:

  1. Toast and pate.
  2. Being able to wash my feet/ defuzz my legs without feeling like a trainee contortionist.
  3. Choice of footwear and possibly even heels
4 A glass of Baileys with tonnes of ice (even though I know I'll no longer want it after the birth)
  1. Eventually being able to throw my maternity clothes out or give them away.
  2. Lingerie

I could go on but 6 is enough for starters.

Neeko · 29/03/2010 09:51

Hi Dwayne x-post. Mine don't come hand in hand but do find it very difficult to go if I'm having a braxton.

thedollshouse · 29/03/2010 09:53
  1. A glass of wine
  2. Going for a nice long walk
  3. Losing weight
  4. Getting fit
  5. Being able to sleep on my back
  6. Lingerie
  7. Going out for a really nice meal
  8. Getting my career back on track
Neeko · 29/03/2010 10:00

Oops I'd forgotten about the losing weight and getting fit -that would help with the lingerie!

Hi all, I am looking forward to sushi, lots of smelly unpasturised cheeses and a very large glass of red.... Sleeping on my back, buttoning jeans...reaching to the window sill behind the sink...the list goes on and on.
Update on the reflexology, I think (think) the baby has moved around over the weekend following the reflexology, I can't tell if it is head down but my SPD is much worse so that may account for that. Find out on Wednesday. Cleaner/ironer starts tomorrow...I won't know myself, very excited. I can then concentrate on some serious nesting. Loved the reflexology all round, it was amazing, it was like the baby was on a string at times and so relaxing. I am going to have her from next week assuming the baby has moved to get me ready for labour. Really recommend it.
Good luck to those on the brink and to those gone over, I went 11 days over with DS1 and feel your pain.

Neeko · 29/03/2010 10:13

Good lists, ladies. it's working - I didn't think about not being in labour for the whole time I was reading

Glad the reflexolgy helped Boodstress I've only had one session but loved it. i intend to go back after the birth as no one round here will do it while you're pregnant.

Boodstress · 29/03/2010 10:23

Shame you can't find someone Neeko - I have two friends who SWEAR it was what brought on their labour..There is a particuliar point that primes you for labour apparently. My reflexologist is a midwife also which helps

Bettymum · 29/03/2010 11:15

Neeko I received the first one today - a message on my Facebook asking if a new nephew was on his way yet. He's not even due till the 7th!! Hoping he doesn't come today as I was up half the night with a coughing DD, who came into our bed at about 4am and then coughed in my face for the rest of the night and wriggled about flailing her arms. So feeling a bit sleepy (not much change there though!), I have just made a date and walnut cake which is v nice. Having a slice of that before I go and tackle the supermarket.
Things that I'm looking forward to after the birth:
Cuddling my TWO babies!
Getting fit again, at least going for a run but maybe even riding my bike(s)!
Being able to try on the clothes I ordered last week online (I had a discount code to use up), they are all sitting in the box looking very pretty but mocking me with their waistbands and their buttons.
Being able to walk upstairs with a pile of laundry without needing a sit-down by the time I get to the bedroom.
Gin and tonic and some nice mouldy or goats cheeses. Mmmmm.

Snowtiger · 29/03/2010 11:15

Love the list ladies!
The things I'm really looking forward to are:

1 - No more heartburn! Am sick of the taste of Gaviscon.

2 - No more restless legs, hip pains, shooting foof pains, etc etc.

3 - Being able to turn over in bed

4 - Being able to sleep on my FRONT!! Woo hoo!! (Although the enormous knockers might stop that for a while when milk comes in!)

5 - Being able to put my own socks & shoes on and paint my toenails again

6 - Being able to push my toddler on his bike / play with him a bit more.

7 - Being able to do exercise / get my body back into some semblance of a normal shape and size

8 - Large gin and tonic, lots of ice and a slice of lime. Mmmmmm....

9 - Rancidly ripe stilton, roquefort, pont l'eveque, brie, camembert....

10 - Echoing DwayneDibbley, knowing I never ever have to to it again. Get me to the family planning clinic ASAP!!

Ladies with regards to Reflexology I can share some secrets if you like as I'm a qualified reflexologist myself. Neeko have a google and see if you can find a reflexologist who specialises in fertility / maternity treatments, there are quite a few about. It's strange that no-one will treat you as I was taught only to avoid treating pregnant ladies in the first trimester - doing it in the last few weeks is a great way to get things going (it definitely started my labour with DS1). Having said that they'll still only come when they're ready - I've been working on my reflexology pressure points for a good week or so now and still nothing!

But anyway, the points to work on are:

  1. Uterus point: sit with your feet together and your knees splayed out so you can easily reach the inside of your ankle. The point is just below and behind the ankle bone (on the inside of your leg, ie the left side of your right ankle and the right side of your left ankle) so imagine a straight, diagonal line running fromm your inside ankle bone to the back of your heel, and measure two fingers' width down it, to a point about an inch behind and below your ankle bone. Now massage it with your finger or thumb in a circular motion. If it feels tender, so much the better - that means you've hit the right spot!

  2. Acupressure 'elimination' point: sitting in the same position, and again working on the inside edge of each ankle / leg. Imagine a straight line going up from your ankle bone to your knee, along the inside of your calf. Measure 4 fingers' widths up from your ankle bone, towards your knee, and press that point - again it should be tender. Massage it in a circular motion, on both legs at the same time if you can.

Repeat until small baby emerges...!

Like I say, it won't start you off if you're not ready so don't worry, it can't do you any harm, but if baby is cooked and ready to arrive then it can help get things going. Hope those descriptions make sense, if not do shout.

My cleaner starts tomorrow too, Boodstress, I keep thinking "I ought to vacuum upstairs" and then remember and get all excited that someone else is going to come along and do it for me! Hurrah!
