New ante-natal thread... the post-natal thread is here

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Arcadie · 11/03/2010 11:15

And Pacific Hope it's all going ok. Thinking of you old girl!

Shroomer · 11/03/2010 11:48

Blueydragon - (if you're reading this in between the breast feeding) - Well done! Love the thought of a baby dragon.

Anna you managed to jog somewhere?!

Arcadie The new thread title gets my vote.

Elk No pains here when need no2 - perhaps you've got wind in there too. Maybe too much prune? I just have niggling period type pain most of the time now.

Annamamma We could maybe make a ... I've completely forgotten the word .. it begins with M, not menage ... where you paste photos together.

angfirsttimer · 11/03/2010 11:54

thanks Arcadie - I have been told that long latent phase = (hopefully) shorter active phase

MandaHugNKiss · 11/03/2010 11:57

Collage, shroom?

MandaHugNKiss · 11/03/2010 12:13

Yay, bluey! Does a baby draon have hard scales or are hey as soft and snugly as the human kind? . Many conrats

ang Hang in there! Yes, it's rubbish, but the latent phase of labour can go on and on for, sometimes, weeks (although obviously not in your case! ). As RKD says though it can mean a swift active phase as the long slow build up has done much of the groundwork without you really noticing being in too much discomfort pain. As I'm currently rocking super-strong BH's every ten mins or so I'm clinging to this thought. Grab on with me!

anna we are heavily pregnant arses, not lazy arses. Geddit right, woman! I took a picture of my bump in my undies last week so if that collage ever comes to fruition...

RKD, genius thread title. We must have it.

blonde You probably won't see this until after the fact now so lemme say I hope it all went swimmingly and that you and baby are doing fantastically. I was induced (overdue) twice and twice it was a great experience so I hope the same for you!

heckle Likin the 'freebies for life' plan you're brewing.. of course, it will be just sod's law that you run into a pound shop to buy some dishwashing cloths or something and... well the rest of this sentence writes itself, right? Hey, how's your face coming along? (such an odd sounding question, as if you're a wizened old millionaire lady currently in the middle of cosmetic surgery! )

Sure wish pacific would check in. You too siamese smac I think, unless we allow the twofer one pixie suggests, you're pretty much safe putting that award in your trophy cabinet. Can't see anyone beating 11lb 1oz... Hear me, baby? NOBODY. Is she packing on weight? I was astounded when DD tripled her weight in the time they expect them to double. Not only had my body managed to make this amazing being, but now it was so fantastic at nourishing her she was turning into a gorgeous michellin bubba

Shroomer · 11/03/2010 12:53

Ang and anyone else who has had backache or cramps for days I've found this useful document on an NHS website.

angfirsttimer · 11/03/2010 13:27

thanks Shroomer thats really useful.

Rindercella · 11/03/2010 13:31

Arcadie am loving the new thread title - can't believe you still have the mental capacity to have such a good imagination. My brain is frazzled

Sincerely hope I don't nick Smac's trophy off her. DD1 was 9lb9oz and I found that shocking enough! 11lb+ would just be oooouuucccchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

All's well in my World today. Off for some pampering from friend in a little while

Have a good day everyone.

designerbaby · 11/03/2010 13:33

Hi all, so many posts I've missed again - but Mum is here and we're frantically sorting things like curtains with blackout for our bedroom (there's a streetlight outside which I've decided not only doesn't help my rubbish sleeping now, but won't be good with a newborn either, if the last one is anything to go by) so don't feel I can leave her to get on with everything while I MN...

Well done blueydragon - sure I've missed some others, but that's as far down the thread as I've got so far... Can someone (head girls, you still here?) post an updated list? Pretty pretty please???

Not much to report ? had acupuncture yesterday as a pre-emptive "not going overdue this time" strike - baby went crazy doing the Samba and seemed to drop a bit - going back again next week when he'll ramp up the intensity... we'll see, eh?

Nothing else to report, just feeling huge and uncomfortable, like pretty much everyone on here, it seems... Right hip giving me no end of gip - if I sit down for more than ten minutes I literally cannot walk when I stand up... gah! Like I'm not huge immobile enough...

And a bit out of sorts generally today, would like to have a bit of a cry for no apparent reason... .

MW appointment on Monday - am going to stage a sit in until they get someone to write in my notes that I am cleared to use the MW-led unit...

39 weeks tomorrow. Bloody hell...

Oh, Schroomer/Manda/whoever it was...

Montage??

db
xx

Shroomer · 11/03/2010 14:44

Montage or collage - that must be the word. We could just do our bumps and then play 'guess the owner'.

hecklephone · 11/03/2010 14:57

Well, I'm back from town, waters and all still intact so no freebies for me yet. Did lots of walking about though (might as well be shopping at the same time, eh? ) so hopefully that'll encourage baby in the right direction...

Otherwise starting to ponder whether I should consider some reflexology, or acupuncture like db. At least it would be more relaxing than a sweep!

Manda I'm glad to report my face is almost 100% back to normal, thank goodness, which is a much quicker recovery time than I was expecting, according to what the doctors had said. I'm just so thankful I'll get to smile properly at my new baby - a silly worry I had had, perhaps, because of course she wouldn't have known any different, but it's great to be back to normal in good time for her arrival.

Liking the idea of a photo montage/collage/menage...! But, unlike manda I'm afraid I would be keeping my clothing firmly in place - no-one deserves to be exposed to my undie-clad bump!

MandaHugNKiss · 11/03/2010 15:12

Ah, that's great news about your droopy face heckle! I'm really pleased for you. And, totally understand the fear you had about baby not seeing your 'proper' smile. Pregnant women irrational? Never! As for your undie clad bump, I'll bet it's beautiful. I hate the way we can be made to feel about our pregnant/changing bodies. Viva la bump! Well, until 40 weeks, anyway...

Well, ladies, I think, I think I might be in early labour. It's difficult to know as I've never started naturally before so I'm feeling a bit angsty/first-timer about what's happening. But those strong 10 min apart bh's? Well, they are painful, every five minute...bh's? Official Contractions? Every five minutes now. And my tummy is upset. And my discharge has a pinky hue to it. I'm pretty sure that means diliation, right? I;ve called DP, and he's on his way but working at least an hour away.

Oh, that last pain came whilst I was typing and closer to four minutes than five. Maybe I'm just in the erratic 'prelabour' part? But it actually hurts. And they last a good 40/50 seconds (although not painful that whole time)

I think I should phone delivery suite, not least because of my GBS status I should have ab's if This Is It but I can't go in until DP is here. I don't know what to do! Back is quite ouchy so perhaps he's OP and so labour will be longer than my pervious two affairs?

(if I have an unassisted homebirth it'll be inneresting though )

Yup, another at the four minute mark. Ow.

annamama · 11/03/2010 15:30

Go Manda go! That's gotta be labour. Latent phase shouldn't last for days since you're not a first time mother. But I'm sure your DP will have time to get there! Call delivery suite and see what they say... Good luck!

OP posts:
Arcadie · 11/03/2010 15:32

Manda my love. You're in labour.

Enjoy!

annamama · 11/03/2010 15:36

I'm so jealous, want things to happen too!

Yes I jogged for about 1 minute yesterday as I was late for nursery pickup. Today I went for a long walk. But no sign of anything happening, just the odd BH here and there.

Ang - how are you getting on?

And Manda - we fully expect you to give us an update at least every hour until you deliver!

He is small but perfectly formed and v v cute

Will catch up with all of you later - I take it there are more congratulations in order .

annamama · 11/03/2010 15:49

hecklephone · 11/03/2010 15:59

And yaaaaayyy pacific! congratulations Lovely names too. (and yes, of course we missed you! )

MandaHugNKiss · 11/03/2010 16:02

Whoohoo for pacific's DS4! Ah, yes, I remember you mentioning the name Joe... I actually got an email this morning from my friend Joe with some snaps of his year old DS attached (and when I say 'snaps', well Joe's a director (film) so they always have a professional look). COnratulations! I'll be joining you soon (I hope!). Well, not in a DS4... but a baby.

Yup, these suckers are at four minutes now and hurt quite a lot more. Hoping DP hurries.

I'd love to update until popping anna but my phone doesn't have internet thingy. That is to say, I don't know how to do it.

TMI ALERT! Darn it, at the end of every contraction I have to sit on the toilet and 'eliminate' a little more... oh well, better now than on the delivery table!

hecklephone · 11/03/2010 16:04

X posted with you too iwcas. So glad things are going well-especially in the babydaddy department. I love a happy ending! Will be crossing fingers that things keep going in the right direction. Look after yourself, good luck with the bf-ing, looking forward to reading your birth story soon.

PacificDogwood · 11/03/2010 16:09

Right, I read back a bit, but apologies if I run off abruptly :

Rinders, hope you feel more positive today. Hormones are just horrible things sometimes. And if you have a chestinfection on top of being in the last bit of pregnancy - poor woman! Your friend sounds fab

Blonde, by the time you read this you may have your LO already - good luck!

Arcadie, great new thread title, go for it.

And 'chicken sucking'?? I mean seriously: chicken sucking ?!>

Congratulations, Blueydragon, lemondade and HeartofCrystal.

Hope Manda and ang are progressing...

And IWCAS: so glad things are going well for you - in every respect by the sounds of it .

I am off to the postnatal thread as long as the going in good here .

PacificDogwood · 11/03/2010 16:10

Oh, Manda, I forgot you: sounds like you are next - v v best of luck!!
