Morning all!

Congrats lemonade - well done on the quick labour!

And go go go!! to the three of you currently contracting! Hope it all goes well - keep us posted.

I wondered if anything was happening with me during the night, as I had some low down pain, but it wasn't so much coming and going as, well, constant, so I suspect it had more to do with my bladder or just trapped wind . In any case, it's made me slightly wary of straying too far, so I don't think I'm going to go into town this morning as I'd planned. I'm sure I'll get to go tomorrow instead when I'm back to feeling absolutely no little niggles at all!

My dilemma is - should I book a hairdressing appointment or not?? I'm pretty much due for a cut (timed it badly, eh?) but worry that a) my waters could break in the poor hairdressers chair! or b) late pregnancy hormones and shorter haircut = bad mix, no? Hmm, maybe I'll make the appointment anyway -it'll probably encourage baby to show up in a 'sod's law' kind of way.

Anyway, one Twirl has been duly dispatched, time for me to finally get dressed I think. By the way, if you're on FB check out IWCAS's pics of her new boy - so cute!

Keep contracting ladies!! xx

swingsofglory · 10/03/2010 10:47

Wow - so many more babies coming already... it's only the 10th, March has got days to go yet!

Congrats Lemonadegirl, and I hope all is going well for Pacific, Ang and Siamese.

Wish my baby would hurry up. I am no longer zen about the arrival date and am fed up and want her out - NOW. I agree Dalyrmps, I feel spurred on by OBEM too. If they can do it, so can I (despite being geriatric in comparison).

I will be going for a long walk later, eating pineapple, curry and the rest. Didn't work last time, but I don't want to be the last one left on the March thread.

swingsofglory · 10/03/2010 10:49

Crossposted heckle. Definitely book the appointment - it will make you feel better. They might even give you a free haircut if you go into labour there! Isn't it one of those urban myths that you get free shopping for life if you give birth in M&S?

blonde36er · 10/03/2010 10:50

Congratulations Lemonadegirl - 4hrs 45 mins...now THAT'S what I'm talking about!

Hope you're listening in there fat baby, get started now and we can be done in time for Deal or No Deal!

hecklephone · 10/03/2010 10:53

PS siamese LOL at you going from enjoying the calming hypnobirthing CD to "cursing the woman's silly voice"! Stick with it though - I'm sure it'll help in the long run (probably swearing a bit will too though! )

And afribaby re names, I agree you tend to grow into names a good deal. Everything is so new when baby arrives, and it's hard to match up name with new person, but whatever you end up calling your LO will just fit after a short while and you probably won't be able to imagine calling them anything else. Having said that, I still have a teeny tiny reservation about the name DH wants for DD2, but I'm hoping when she arrives it'll just feel right.

JasHook · 10/03/2010 10:56

Happy due date to me, happy due date to MEEE..

...ooh, but I am anything but happy today. Anyone else starting to think that human pregnancy is an extremely poorly designed process? The stretchmarks have just landed in a horrendous itchy mass (why? WHYY?? I almost made it to the end with not a one!!) and I currently feel as if it's far more likely that my DH will go into labour before I do!

Anyway. Quite enough of my ranting for this morning.

I am hugely of all you ladies with babies or with births imminent, but cheering you on from the sidelines! (I'd be using my cheerleader pompoms but the sight of me jumping up and down in a miniskirt right now would make any sane person flee in terror)

Plus, OBEM last night made me go completely white and repeat hysterically "I can't do that. There's just no way. I can't."

I have moved away from the chocolate button experiment as it clearly isn't working. Jam doughnuts it is, then...

Walnut8 · 10/03/2010 11:03

Congratulations lemonade, sariska, lisbapalea and the other new mums if I've missed any. Good luck to those in labour!

Rinders I hope the trip to the GP goes well and it's "just" a hormonal thing which starts to ease up. If you need to vent though, feel free to do it - you're not going to bore us!!

Sending you labour vibes Dalrymps and heckle ... although not too many labour vibes heckle, you need to make it through that appointment. I'm in the same dilemma, badly need a haircut and considering booking in tomorrow .. I'm still not due for a few more days & no real twinges so I figure I'll be safe. But a tiny part of me is worried about the whole waters going thing. Or starting to have some fierce contractions half-way through the haircut and then being left for weeks and weeks (or however long until I can make it back) with half a head of short hair!

For some reason I'm a little scared of watching OBEM this week. Seems a bit too close to home ...

Walnut8 · 10/03/2010 11:08

X-posted with you Jas ... and that's exactly why I feel like it would be a BAD idea for me to watch OBEM (I'm suck a chicken). Oh, and happy due date . Since 37 weeks when they first appeared, my stretch-marks seem to be steadily growing, very unevenly though, all seem to be centred around where the baby's bum is pushing out on the left side.

Walnut8 · 10/03/2010 11:09

I'm suck a chicken? Really should read before posting!!

annamama · 10/03/2010 11:50

Just been to MW, she says the baby is still "slightly back to back", however I don't believe her! Because there's something very big and hard sticking out all the way down the right hand side of my belly, which I was sure was the baby's back and bum. What else could it be? Wish I had an ultrasound machine at home...

OP posts:
MandaHugNKiss · 10/03/2010 11:54

Ah, walnut you suck a chicken has given me my first chuckle in days!

To wit, rinders I hear you - so loud and clear. I have cried far too much over the last few days; anything and everything seems to set me off and when DP asks what's wrong all I seem to be able to splutter is 'I don't knowwwww!'. I mean, I don't exactly - I just feel so... bad.

However, was asleep by midnight last night and slept through until 10am (ok, awoken at 5.15 with DP getting up for work, and aware of the kids getting off to school about 8am) and I feel SO much better today. Cannot stress how exhaustion just wears you the heck down. In that sense, you've been offered some good advice here to rope in friends or whomever necessary to help with DD so that you CAN rest up.

Gooooooood luck to our labouring ladies! I almost thought I was joining you last night - from late afternoon I was having very strong bh every five minutes (had a weird pulsing sensation to them - boardered on 'pain' but ultimately just uncomfortable) for a good four hours or so. Then they stopped. Ho-hum. I understand 'false' labour can be common in subsequent pregnancies but might be a ood sign that when it starts, it'll really start!

I was wondering about IWCAS yesterday, too. Last thing I remember her saying was she felt insular - and now she snuggling a gorgeous boy - congrats, lady! Can't wait to hear the details

Darn it! Didn't see OBEM last night as I intended to watch it on catch up as I usually do the next day but for some odd reason it's not there.

(uh, that's the cable company I get my tv package from, I'm not randomly glaring at people whom haven't had sex yet...)

HeartOfCrystal · 10/03/2010 12:03

Hey ladies, just a quick message.

Had my gorgeous little boy on the 7th 11:45am, very quick delivery (once i finally got to established labour at 6 am), perfect vbac, midwives were amazing.

Goodluck to all on their up and coming births.

xxx

Arcadie · 10/03/2010 12:08

Congrats to lemonade and HeartofCrystal

I am mighty of the labours - don't forget to post more fully on the PN board so we can live vicariously share the joy of your birth experiences!

So so sorry to Blonde36ers that you've got this far and still no baby. Induction was a lovely experience both times for me, but I do remember being very annoyed at the fat lumps that were my babies and wanting them the hell out.

blonde36er · 10/03/2010 12:12

More babies!

{grin] Seems this is a good week for being born

LouBudd · 10/03/2010 14:06

Yay, more babies and more in labour.
Am very at all the first time mums who can chill out and relax on their mat leave. I am seriously struggling with a 5 and 2 year old. Am happy now that all birthdays and partys are out the way. Even tried the okey cokey at ds party on Saturday, but it did nothing. Has everyone else reached a whole new level of pain and irritability now? I can hardly move anymore without feeling incredible pain and very dizzy. Who else feels as if their baby is going to fall out at any minute due to serious pressure? I suppose it is my fault for cooking such massive babies.

Shroomer · 10/03/2010 14:12

Did a long walk today. And then bought some chips. Naughty!

That woman's voice on the hypno CD - what about the bit where she says 'Down to where you baby lies'?

I've been offered a sweep for when I'm 40+1 (Tues) - do you think I should? Or might it induce a weak labour?

swingsofglory · 10/03/2010 14:27

shroomer, I'd even take a sweep Annamamma style at this point if it might help get the baby out! Although don't know in all seriousness whether it's a good idea or not.

and Loubudd, I also feel like the baby is about to fall out she's so low down. Sadly, she seems to have other ideas and is sticking fast despite my long walk this morning to and from DDs nursery this morning.

I have informed DH we are eating curry and pineapple this evening and then having an early night to try and get this baby out. He's happy as long as he doesn't have to eat the pineapple. Fortunately i don't think that will have any bearing on the matter at all...

Arcadie · 10/03/2010 14:50

Shroomer Go for the sweep - if nothing else she'll be able to tell you what your cervix is up to and it will speed up labour when labour happens.

LouBudd I'm with you - can't believe how wriggly, kicky, stretchy this baby can be without actually bursting through my amniotic fluid and making a break for it. must have tough membranes in there.

PacificD Ang and Siamese Hope no posting means nice quick easy labours. But do come back and post for those of us who are bored interested.

and Walnut How's the chicken sucking going?

Shroomer · 10/03/2010 15:22

Arcadie - good point. I hadn't thought of that. Worth doing for that then.

Walnut - which bit of the chicken do you like to suck on? feet?

angfirsttimer · 10/03/2010 15:35

no posting means that I am too grumpy to post not that I have had my baby!!!!

So - contractions all night therefore no sleep. cx get to 4mins apart this morning then stop!
reflexologist came and got them started again but now they are strong but sporadic.

I am beginning to think that this child is playing some cruel joke on us!

Shroomer - I am with you on that down to where your baby lies bit - makes me giggle everytime!

annamama · 10/03/2010 15:52

Shroomer - I've been promised sweep next Wed at 40+2, I'll go for it.

Best wear your evening gown and good underwear Pixie, that'd definitely increase the chances!

Rindercella · 10/03/2010 17:06

Thank you, thank you, thank you all for your kind words. You have no idea how seeing your messages made me feel so much better this morning! Hopefully it was just hormones making me cry (I'm usually pretty calm & laid back, so bursting into tears like that is a bit of an oddity for me).

Saw the GP who gave me ABs for my chest infection and confirmed that I should be getting as much rest as possible. All seems well with the baby. DH has been much more helpful today and now knows that more than anything I just need some TLC at the moment (which he can be pretty good at!). I then had a lovely email from a friend telling me to get myself round to hers tomorrow afternoon when she will pamper me and look after DD (well our DDs are the same age, so I guess they'll keep each other entertained) and then had my parents and brother up to visit for a few hours, where they treated me to a pub lunch & kept DD occupied! So...all much happier now

Right, enough about me! There's more March babies - how fantastic to hear lemonade and HeartofCrystal's news

Mmm, Walnut/Shroomer, sucking chickens' feet - lovely!

Heckle get yourself an appointment at your hairdresser's now! I had mine done yesterday. And much to my (and my hairdresser's) relief, all was fine and he didn't have to lay on towels & hot water for a sudden delivery!! But with DD1 I actually had an appointment booked for the day she was born. It took me probably around 3 months after that to get my hair done again. Now I feel all prepared - with hair cut, hightlights done plus I also had a manicure when I was there so even my nails are looking good!

All quiet from Pacific and Siamese then...looks like today's the day for her. My fingers are crossed all goes well.

I would just like little 'Baby J' to stay until my MIL gets here sometime next week and then she can come just as soon as she likes! I am having mild panics at the moment about having to call someone at 3am to come and look after DD. I am obviously far too polite as the thought of that really does make me Still, according to the GP the baby is still only 4/5 engaged, so I think we have a little way to go before she's born. I'm predicting 19th March

Once again, thank you so much for your kkind words of this morning - they made me feel 100 times better.
