DrSkidaddle · 10/03/2010 17:32

hello from the other side!

Sounds like things are really starting now - good luck ang pacific and siamese walnut OBEM is definitely less scary (but also less exciting) to watc once you've had your baby. I managed to watch it last night and cry only once [proud emotion]

Can't wait to hear more birth announcements. Come on babies!!!!

AfriBaby · 10/03/2010 18:18

Chicken sucking! A whole new sport I would think.
Glad to hear you're feeling better rinders and thanks for your feedback on names heckle (totally made sense) and arcadie.

New babies, babies on their way - so exciting. Sitting here saying ouch as baby attempts to bend my ribs outwards.

MummyElk · 10/03/2010 19:09

Evening all
Ooh exciting day for us then, congrats to new babies, and ang pacific and siamese been thinking of you all...

Anyone else willing to suck a chicken to bring on labour?! Praps not (thinks of Grandma's smelly chickens, not so sure it would be enjoyable)
swings LOL at your DH "as long as he doesn't have to eat the pineapple" ha ha

nothing much here. due date is still a week off! DD still very clingy. decided to go for it on the double buggy today after chasing her around the park several times, she would NOT walk in the same direction as me

rinders glad you feeling a bit better, please don't hold back from having a good old rant on here, i don't think ANY of us would mind, it's what we are here for, surely! my view is if someone doesn't want to read something here, they don't have to, equally comment, so surely you'll only get the interested parties anyway. hope you have a good rest tonight and what a kind offer from your friend tomorrow, sounds perfect.

right. off to negotiate a price on this buggy. i hate bargaining!

JasHook · 10/03/2010 19:32

MummyElk That entirely depends on which part of the chicken we're talking about here and whether it's had a nice wash first...blecchhh...however after it took me three times the usual time to waddle/limp/shuffle to the supermarket this afternoon I might just be persuaded! And good luck with the buggy!

Pixie thankyou for the encouragement! My feet are presumably getting on with the business of being feet without my being able to see them (I hope...unless it's that philosophical "If your ankles swell up under your bump and you can't see them, are they actually swelling?" thing)

blonde36er · 10/03/2010 20:22

Glad you're feeling much better Rindercella - it's amazing how much better a good cry can make you feel Have a lovely day with your friend tomorrow.

Right now I would gladly suck a chicken to start labour, might send DH to Tesco on his way home from football...

Am going to try not to spend too much time on here tonight as I have lots of housework that I want to get finished in preparation for tomorrow, nothing like coming back to a clean house after a holiday so imagine it must be equally as nice to not have to face the washing up when I get back from hospital with fat baby

MIL still thinks I'll have it tonight (bless her optimism) at home, but I'm no longer hopeful.

I assume this is my last post pre-induction then, look forward to posting an announcement over the next few days..have set myself the target of being 1405 in the Birth Announcements thread, and will be joining the March PN thread soon - yay!

Best of luck ladies - speak to you soon!

KimiGaveUpStarbucks4Lent · 10/03/2010 20:32

Go pacific go.
All thinking of you and sending pushing vibes

Henrietta · 10/03/2010 20:36

feeling grumpy tonight as dh's job seems up the creek so not going to do personalised post but just to say
sweeps as far as I can find - sweeps only seem to hasten the onset of natural labour, (unlike pessuries(?) etc.)
hairappointments go for it - take a cushion if you're worried about hairdressers floor, or any other floor you might visit, now going to try and get comfortable snuggling next to DH and watch TV if anything on...

congrats to any births Ive missed & cheeering on those with labour symptoms

Pingpong · 10/03/2010 21:02

blonde36 good luck with induction tomorrow and I can't wait to hear just how fat your fat baby really is!!!! P&P awarded me the 'biggest baby' award so far on the postnatal thread but it's still early days in March!
Looking forward to hearing from pacific siamese and ang rinders big un-MN like ((Hugs)) - get it off your chest here or with RL friends but let it out. Glad you feel a bit better though.
Congrats to all the new mums and see you on the other thread when you get 5 minutes!

smac, can't believe you had an 11 lb baby. My first was 10lb 8oz and I hardly ever come across anyone who has had a bigger baby. My 2nd was 9lb 7oz so am hoping that I am going down the scale but if my growth scan is anything to go by, this little madam is going to be a whopper too. She definitely feels like it. 'Ouch' is the word I use most in the day.

Arcadie · 10/03/2010 22:03

want to know how everyone in labour's getting on.

And after seeing last night's OBEM.... want to be in labour......

blonde36er · 11/03/2010 07:14

Smac I bet my fat baby will be a skinny little chicken legged thing now I've spent so long calling it fat. DH says it's not coming because I've given it a complex

Anyways, no miracle happened here in the night and I'm still very pregnant, so will be off to the hospital in a couple of hours, and with a bit of prostin and a lot of luck, hopefully this time tomorrow I'll be someone's mummy, or at least I'll be on my way there

Ladies, enjoy your Thursday, hope that some of you will be joining in the fun and pains with me later

See you on the other side!

BlueyDragon · 11/03/2010 08:09

Morning all!

Haven't checked the 10 or so pages that have come up since I was last on here late last week but the good news is that BabyDragon, Alexander James, was born on Monday 8 March at 05:42. I'll post the labour story on the post natal thread, but it might be a while as we're all a bit tired and working on this breast feeding thing!

MummyElk · 11/03/2010 08:14

good luck blonde!!! will be thinking of you!!

no other babies here yet? what are these mums playing at?!!
I thought there would be at least one birth announcement here this morning....
pixie i dreamt about you last night...not sure how or why, but the last time i dreamt about someone on here it was iwcas and she gave birth that night... not that i'd make a good psychic, i also dreamt about being a lesbian (not in a graphic way, i just was) which is either a reaction to being so pg or the fact that DH told me last night that the last time we had sex was....BIG christmas eve
I Am A Terrible Wife

MummyElk · 11/03/2010 08:30
pureeandpearls · 11/03/2010 08:49

mummyelk- I'm with you there. Think Xmas was the last time. Given that DH will sleep in a different room until I finish feeding, there's a very real chance that the next time will be this Christmas.

Hope all the talk of sex brings on a few nmore babies xx

Arcadie · 11/03/2010 09:08

Blueydragon Well done baby dragon!

Mummyelk only you could get lesbianism and big sex into one post.

annamama · 11/03/2010 09:11

Bluey - congrats on your little baby dragon!

Good luck Blonde!

Any news from anyone who has gone missing? When I'm in labour I will continously post on here, anything else would be just plain rude.

I really admire those of you who are on your own all day either PG with a toddler or with a baby + older kids! It must be really hard. Me I'm so lucky, DD goes to nursery 3 mornings a week AND I have DH home all day too as he "works from home" but is not working much at the moment. I still find it hard to cope sometimes because I'm so big and tired! Nursery is just the best, if you can afford it, DD loves it and we love getting a break.

Rindercella - glad you're feeling better and that your DH is giving you some TLC!

Re old wives tales to bring on labour... When we were at the MW's, DH was asking if they work, MW said there's no harm in trying them all, DH said ok we might go for a curry then and then maybe something else afterwards... (hint hint) MW totally humourless said yes you can walk home briskly afterwards! Ok whatever... haha. I think exercise is probably the best. I was jogging to nursery yesterday and thought I was going into labour then for a minute. Really want this baby to be born soon, anyone join me for a long brisk walk later?

OP posts:
Arcadie · 11/03/2010 09:25

Ok anna I'm off for a walk with DD.
Oh and as one "headgirl" to the other. What's our new thread title going to be? Seems like we'll be needing it in the next 3 days. How about "Due March 2010: One Born Every Five Posts"

MummyElk · 11/03/2010 09:44

i so thought this would be our last ante natal thread when we started it!! nice title Arcadie, nice to see you're on the ball still what would we do without you head girls!!!
Right i really should do something.

TMI alert but....anyone else get really awful pains when, er, needing a no2?? i got them last time too but these are HORRID, i can't actually move whilst they are happening...i don't think i'm constipated or anything...is it just body being odd do you think?

hecklephone · 11/03/2010 09:48

Well done Bluey! Congratulations and good luck with the breastfeeding thing.

LOL mummyelk at your x-rated post!!

And Arcadie - LOVE the new thread title suggestion, that's got to be the one!

Am nesting, nesting, nesting but still no sign of baby. Have been cleaning bathroom, bedroom floor, am about to mop most of the floors then planning a trip into town. Who was it (elk perhaps?) who suggested if your waters break in M&S you get free stuff? Sounds cool - I'm planning to hang out in Gap, Next and Costa coffee and think lots of labour thoughts! Mmmm, free coffee - think it might come in useful in the next few weeks!!

hecklephone · 11/03/2010 09:52

And PS yes Elk on the, erm, No2 thing - I get a really excruciating shooting pain up and down my left leg these days, right up to my spine I don't know if there's a trapped nerve or something but I'm a bit worried my DH will hear me writing in agony in the bathroom some day and think I'm giving birth in there! I reckon it's just the usual organs being squished out of the way by the baby, but Ouch, it hurts.

annamama · 11/03/2010 10:13

Brilliant thread title Arcadie!

What am I doing still sat on my lazy arse, I said I was going for a walk didnI?

Wouldn't it be funny if we had all got together and done a group photo, all heavily PG fed up women... Would have looked quite scary. Of course we should have done it before people started dropping babies every five posts!

OP posts:
angfirsttimer · 11/03/2010 11:02

still not in established labour!!!!

cx's every ten mins all night only to tail off again this morning.

just waiting for midwife to come and do second sweep.

This is rubbish and shaping up to be the longest labour in history!!

Arcadie · 11/03/2010 11:13

Oh ang that's pretty rubbish - very sorry. Similar happened to a friend and it turned out to be a back to back labour which was really sore when she lay down and tailed off when she stood up. Flopping forwards seemed to help and relaxing every muscle in her body - think eyebrows down, shoulders down, fingers spread (and FWIW she had a 2 hour active phase - ie 4-10cm and baby out in about 1hr 45!)
