Hello,

My thumb isn't too bad. Thanks for asking. I did manage to get tomato juice in the cut when I was chopping them this morning. It bloody hurt.

Nat, I feel so excited for you. It must be catching!!!

LaTour, Diege and Cant have given you great advice. Sorry things aren't rosy with you and DH. Things aren't great here either but I think it's better than it was a few weeks ago.

NatalieJane · 23/02/2010 12:51

Ooooh Diege, their fabrics are stunningly gorgeous, and it is pricey but no more so than some of the 'high end' high street shops, and much better quality. I think when you are spending that sort of money the key is to make sure that the theme is transferable, i.e. what suits now will still suit in 5 years, either just as it is or with some jiggery-pokery. They do really nice boys things as well which is a lot harder to find than girls things I think, same old story! Was looking on here yesterday, think that is the best boy's thing I've ever found, but a bit ouchy on the price! (And still nothing compared to the £10,000 girl's princess carriage bed thing!)

Tink, have fun after school Glad you decided on the coats, sound's like a good plan

Kay, ouch for the tomato sauce in cut, bet that stung a bit. Glad things seem to be on the up with DH

Diege · 23/02/2010 13:04

OMG NAT that boat is amazing (as is the price . You could get a real one for that And put it outside your house in the style of Corrie's 'Gail force'
Agree, DG is brill...For dd3's room I'm having Primose Hill wallpaper in peony, with Primrose lane fabric for the curtains in sherbert (style wise I'd say she'll grow out of it early teens maybe). For older dds are going for a more retro 70s theme in lime greens, pinks and browns (Brewer's wallpaper) and for ds back to DG with Chalk Farm paper and curtains.
God I'm hyperventilating about this bloody smear [sad

NatalieJane · 23/02/2010 13:12

Diege, I know it will fall on deaf ears, but try not to worry too much, that last nurse was just an arse, I can't believe for one moment that your cervix has just decided to up and leave, where would it go?! So, it must still be there, she was just not up to the job, and she shouldn't have tried in the first place. I am sure this afternoon's will go more to plan. What time is your appointment? Could you get someone to go with you?

Diege · 23/02/2010 13:20

Thanks NAT . Appointment is at 2 so leaving in about 10 mins. No, noone to take (billy no-mates in my village ) Have had some reassurance from thread I started in Health from mnetters who've had similar (though their stories of tipped uteruses and extra-long speculums have had me gripping my knees together just reading..). Will update asap!

NatalieJane · 23/02/2010 13:23

Good luck, will be thinking of you (if that's alright?! ) Am sure they will be more reaasuring this time.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/02/2010 13:30

Diege- good luck!! sure you'll be fine!!

Nat- that boat is bloody amazing!! DS wants the JCB bed!! but he isn't getting it unless we win the lottery!!- he'd need a bedroom the size of our whole upstairs to fit it in!!

NatalieJane · 23/02/2010 14:03

DS1 had the Thomas bed, in an attempt to actually get him to sleep in a bed other than ours, didn't work, sold it for half of what we paid for it a year later after it'd been slept in for about 6 hours all in all

DS2, unsuprisingly, wants the racing car one, might actually get him one when he's out of his cotbed, can't see him getting bored of anything with wheels on it for a long old time yet!

maxxymoosmummy · 23/02/2010 14:27

im really lost for inspiration on what to make for tea i want a chicken curry, but only have rice in so will need to go buy chicken, and everything else.
also quite fancy a spaghetti bolognese,
or a pasta bake really done know what to do.
DIEGE hope the smear goes well ( im sure it will )

NatalieJane · 23/02/2010 15:15

We're having DH's left over 'shove everything in a cassarole dish and call it a cassarole even though it's not really a cassarole' thing tonight! We had it on Sunday with roast potatoes and veggies, but as usual he made enough to feed us for 6 weeks, so I've pulled some of it out of the freezer, think I might make a suet pastry type pie thingy with it. Calerific, but scrumptious!

Bit of a development, speaking to people on here and lots of them are saying they'd be happy to let me in their houses now even before the diploma, so thinking I will do the diploma, then end of summer when I will hopefully start the degree, I will start looking for my guinea pigs! That will give me 2/3 years to build up a portfolio, if I got 1 job every 6 months, that's 4-6 jobs in the portfolio, which would be excellent! It might well be that if I am doing other jobs that the degree will take a bit longer, but I have 5 years to complete it, obviously sooner the better, but I think in this business the portfolio is as important as the qualifications.

Sorry, you guys must be so fed up with me now, but I can't help it, feel free to just completely ignore my ramblings, it's more that when I write things down I can make more sense of it, y'know tally timings up etc. Still can't believe that I am actually going to do this

Diege · 23/02/2010 15:31

I'm back, and success!! Cervix was tucked away and tilted to the back but after I sat on my hands she found it fine . Was very anxious waiting, esp as running very late, but all done now and just the wait for the results...
NAT, putting together a portfolio as you're going along makes perfect sense - I really wish you were closer; you'd have quite a project with this place!
Curry sounds good MMM, as does Nat's casserole. I am strictly back on slimming world as of today as weighed myself this morning and to my horror an 2 stone over my ideal weight. So it's a baked potato for me tonight!

NatalieJane · 23/02/2010 15:46

Diege, thats great stuff, so glad it went better this time. Did they say anything about how that other nurse treated you?

I think you'll manage your house just fine, you have great taste. But, if you're offering yourself up to be my guinea pig... you're not that far away...

I can't wait to get stuck into something, I think it will be my do or die, if I do it well then I'm set for life, if I do it badly, what am I meant to do with a diploma in ID?!!

I am fed up with trying to loose weight, I was going great guns, but then it really slowed down and now only loosing a lb a week, though probably have put that on in the last week, not stopped eating, but I have actually been hungry. I have done fairly well I think, 2 and a half st since we moved, and that was despite xmas, so figured a little break won't hurt!

maxxymoosmummy · 23/02/2010 16:04

well just back from the shop, and all 3 shops close to me never had chicken, so im on a spaghetti bolognese.
sooooo hungry so starting it soon, and DS is very tired, keeps falling asleep on the floor, so will have tea, quick bath for him then bed i think.
DIEGE glad it all went ok
NAT casserole thing sounds nice

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/02/2010 16:34

well DD2 isn't happy at all this afternoon!!

She just wont stop crying have tried everything... i honestly think she's tired, but she wont go to sleep, even with feeding her... oh... have just asked DS to tidy up and she's now quiet watching him wander round...

it's so bloody cold- and to top it all off DD has been messing about and lost our gloves so we had to walk and get DS from school with cold hands- the tips of my fingers are still cold!! and been home an hour!!

Diege · 23/02/2010 16:34

Yes NAT, not too far away I may well have a room or two that may need help with in a year or two (when funds allow!) My problem is that I know the sort of thing I'm looking for but in an old house like this I'm struggling. That is, I'm going for a sort of contemporary vintage theme, combining brights with oldie worldy duck egg blues etc etc, so that things look 'current' but not out of keeping with the original features of the property. I have found mags like Elle Decoration quite inspiring, though very aspirational!
MMM that's what ds was like yesterday - had to bring tea forward just so he was awake. Bless him, I think the sw vaccine knocked him a bit (as it did for dd3 - high temps night and day - fine now). Spag bol sounds great, a fave here. I'm having veggie breakfast - veggie bacon, eggs, beans and toast, all 'free' on sw green days!
Oh and a quick question. Ds is officially on milk strike. Not one suck of a teat will pass his lips Am doing the usual milk pudds, yogs, cheese sause etc etc but nowhere near the 20 ounces. Any suggestions or shall I just resign myself to a baby that has gone off milk?

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/02/2010 16:35

oh- Diege- forgot to say- 'i told you so'... glad it all went fine.

maxxymoosmummy · 23/02/2010 16:41

well tea is cooking, but now DS is determined to scream down the house. as he thinks he can eat it right now. not understanding it has to cook. still got 5 mins bfore putting the spaghetti on.
so it deffinately will be early bed for him as he is nakered.

essenceofSES · 23/02/2010 17:02

Diege - glad it went well. Your plans for the new house sound good. We're in a 1920s house and so know what you mean about modern decor that fits. I've always moved into houses before that have been

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/02/2010 17:13

oh poo- it's snowing again!! I had said to myself earlier that it was as cold today as the days when it's always snowed....

NatalieJane · 23/02/2010 17:18

Can't, type more, will get circulation going (any excuse to MN!)

MMM, DS2 is the worst of mine for the waiting for it too cook thing, and waiting for it to cool down. If he is especially hungry, and he sees me put the oven on the child will paddy like a good'en.

Diege, how old is the house? I am already liking the sound of your scheme though. Ses has given great advice about the milk strike, would be the route I'd go down (though no fear of milk strike in this house, M's still on 3 x 9oz a day, and won't touch water or even very dilute juice, though very much enjoys pouring it over his head)

Ses, Soft play sounds like fun We went for a meal on Saturday, took the boys to soft play after, first time I'd just let DS2 get on with it, he loved it, though it helped that it was the evening and the barn was almost empty, no big horrible nasty kids ready to push him down the slide backwards, well except DS1 but DS2 is used to him

NatalieJane · 23/02/2010 17:19

Can't, we've had snow on and off all day, only in tiny bits though and nothing has settled. At one point it was snowing out the back, but nothing out the front, bit strange!

maxxymoosmummy · 23/02/2010 17:21

well DS enjoyed his tea, but think theres more on the floor than in his tummy.
he refuses to let me feed him tea and things now other than yoghurts. so tea time is very messy especially with stuff like tonight. but he enjoys it so thats the main thing.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/02/2010 17:22

for the last 5mins it's been like a blizzard outside... but nothings stuck... i'm dreading waking up to a sheet of white again!!

waiting for DH to let me know he's set off so i can put tea on... think i'll just stick it in if he doesn't call in 5mins so i can feed the DC's and bath them before bedtime.

maxxymoosmummy · 23/02/2010 17:25

SES sorry didnt refresh before sending, soft play sounds good and cute image of O at the bouncy castle very cute. but with you on not being long till he will be the one doing the bouncing
NAT same with DS here, he doesnt do cooking / cooling just the eating haha
