gingerbreadlatte · 17/03/2010 19:14

Hi MMM
Sorry for the bad evening with DS's dad. Does he come around every night ?

I am sending over a glass of wine too. Sounds like you could do with it

maxxymoosmummy · 17/03/2010 19:18

he comes round monday - thursday nights the majority of the time. but doesnt do anything, still expects me to do it all.

gingerbreadlatte · 17/03/2010 19:20

That doesnt seem very fair. (
Hope you can relax after DS is in bed.

maxxymoosmummy · 17/03/2010 19:25

hes in bed now, just put m tea in the oven, and watching elly now, going to download one born every minute, and shameless as missed it last night.

GruffaloSoldier · 17/03/2010 19:29

NJ - sorry to hear that about the house.

Gone a bit pear shaped here too, as I checked out the terms of the mortgage and we have to pay 3% of the mortgage if we repay early! so if we sell up and go ito rent we'll have to pay out more money DH isn't keen on that idea so I don't know what we are going to do!

Playing - I do often look at Petersfield, I look all over the place. However as we are a one car family, DH likes to cycle to work and although I'm sure he wouldn't mind, it just means him getting home later and having to leave earlier which will be pants.so it looks like we might still have to wait a couple of months and see what the market is doing. we may just end up buying a garden flat or something. oh what a nightmare this is grrrr!

GruffaloSoldier · 17/03/2010 19:35

Grrr sorry guys didnt mean to ignore posts! my refresh is crappy! I just dont get it!

MMM - sorry for DS dad can you ask him to do more??

GBL - glad you are happier. mini hampshire/surrey meet up sounds fantabulous!

Playingatmotherhood · 17/03/2010 19:48

Busy having that G&T now and have sent DH out for curry. Fab.

MMM - sorry you're having a tough evening

GBL - good idea on the meet up. As I've been away so long I've never been on a wagon meet up. Would be lovely.

Gruff - I can understand wanting to be closer to work, you could live somewhere where he could cycle to the train station or would that just be too far? We are a one car family too now (had to give up my car to stay at home). DH has the car not me. Luckily although I live in a small town it does have everything we need so I can live without the car and if I did need to go somewhere larger we have the train to Portsmouth, Guilford, London etc. Do miss my car but it is perfectly possible to live without it here do end up spending a little more money by shopping in Waitrose/M&S but its still far cheaper than running a car.

maxxymoosmummy · 17/03/2010 19:49

when i ask him he laughs it off, n says why, or i cant. just never bothers.
i asked him to get him ready for bed tonight, n he just said i cant.
so i did it n jus said to him u cud at least give me a break once in a while, n he just laughed as if to say why do you need a break.

maxxymoosmummy · 17/03/2010 19:51

sorry x-posted PLAYING curry sounds lovely hope you enjoy it

GruffaloSoldier · 17/03/2010 20:25

MMM - thats rubbish

Playing - curry and G&T sounds like a great combo!
Re houses : I think its more the expense of getting the train as opposed to cycling all the way which is free I think we are just going to have to get the flat ready for selling, get it valued and then review what we can afford to do. I think I would just rather pay out the money and get rid of the mortgage but we can only do that if we have made money...if we are in negative equity then we will have to sit tight but we we are still going ahead with ttcing though we will just have to make do with what we have got if it's not doable. thanks for all your advice

FWIW we are in a town too, and def agree that I dont need the car that much. it is somethin we are going to have to weigh up... and I have a feeling it is going to take a while to reach a decision

sorry for all the boring housey talk everyone. maybe I should stop now

essenceofSES · 17/03/2010 21:27

Hello!!

Finally made it on here!

Playing - was thinking about you today. Sorry the outcome wasn't better. Do take it easy over the coming days and if it does all catch up with you, you know where we are.
Hope you enjoyed your G&T.

Gruff - it's all so difficult, especially in the current economic climate. We're v lucky that we've managed to get this house and we plan to stay here. (Excpet maybe for a temporary trip to Oman!)

MMM - something needs to change there but I'm not sure how. Would you consider telling DS's dad that you need to pop out and leave him to get on with it?

Nat - sorry the house didn't work out.

Cant - sorry you've been ill but glad you're feeling better.

Tink - you must be tiny!!!

Surrey/Hampshire - I know all those places you've mentioned as I've worked as a pharmacist in branches in Godalming, Haslemere and Petersfield in my time! I lived in Godalming for 10 months when I first qualified. I rented a room in house together with a girl that I didn't know before. She was v nice but I always remember her asking me not to use the same duster to dust the skirting boards as the surfaces. I think she should just have been grateful I was dusting at all!

Oman - just to update that there's still no further news! After my current week at work though, I may actually be willing to move out there if DH does get the job! Anyone up for a visit if we go?! A MN meet up in Oman?!

DH is out all night tonight. He's gone out for some drinks for Paddy's Day and decided he'd be better staying away! He's then home tomorrow night and then away Fri-Sun visiting his family in Ireland. I would have liked to have gone to Ireland too but can't get the time off work so soon after going back.

I finally got my work mobile today. I put it on to charge and got all excited only to find it had a faulty SIM

gingerbreadlatte · 18/03/2010 08:11

Morning

Hope everyone is well today.

Playing how are you feeling?

I am working from home today so feeling more relaxed Plus I got an extra hour in bed

Ses- Sounds like you know you Surrey towns well. Useful knowledge to have!

The SG had a funny night. She was a awake several times just chatting to herself. One occasion she was crying but not enough to need to go in. She was very perky this morning.

Had better get some work started.

Will be lurking on MN working very hard today

NatalieJane · 18/03/2010 09:16

Morning all

Playing, hope you had a nice evening?

MMM, DS's dad sound's like a right one Ses has a good plan, would it work?

Gruff, sorry about the house/mortgage. You could have a look here, it is only an estimate, but IME they are pretty spot on (£50 out on what we sold our house for). Might just give you an idea? Hope you can work something out

Ses, you get about don't you?! Hope you have a better day, sound's like this week has been tough.

Lovely day here, it's DS1's bday, I can't believe I have an 8 year old child Going to take DS2 and 3 down to the pond feed the ducks, 'nip' to Tesco (say nip, it's miles away!) get DS1's fav. dinner in for tonight, and some crap sweets, cakes etc. and then come home, sort his room out for him, it's been being looked after by him, on his orders, since we moved in, he tries his best but it's starting to favour a manky teenager's bedroom, and his bathroom needs a bit of a clean up, then, I might just get time to sit down and sort through the big box of samples that arrived this morning, it's huge, am desperate to get my hands on it, but if I open it, the pond, Tesco, and his bed and bath room's will go out of the window!

As for that house, when we were first told about it, I was really excited, but by the time they'd got back to us about the rental terms, had kind of got my sensible head on and worked out some rough figures in my head, if we'd have gone for it (and I know we would have if it'd have been right) we really would have been stretching ourselves. I am dissapointed because that it is the first house to come on since we moved in, and it was absolutely what we are looking for, it was on the pricey side for what it was. And I think it is something about that street, 3rd one we've seen on the same street, including the big one we lost out on that made us move over here in the first place, I don't think we're supposed to live there!

Right, ducks, don't let me forget to take the bread! How many times have we done that?

tinkstoddleriswalking · 18/03/2010 09:32

happy 8th to your ds nat have a great day

maxxymoosmummy · 18/03/2010 09:34

i dont know if the plan will work SES got a feeling ill got to my friends for half an hour and it will be manick when i get back, doubt he will take it upon himself to get him ready for bed, and have everything sorted. :/

gingerbreadlatte · 18/03/2010 09:36

Hello

Nat- HAAPPY BIRTHDAY DS 1!! Hope you have a lovely day!

MMM- sorry for the headache... hope it wasnt that wine I sent over

Tink- Shopping sounds good

Re the car seat- (like someone else said, not sure who it was) hate to be a bore but its important that a child doesnt go into a car seat when they arent heavy enough. Regarding her feet/ legs on the rearfacing seat- her feet and legs touching doesnt matter. You should only move them up to the next seat when they are more than the maximum weight limit and her head is above the top of the seat.

We had DD in her maxi cosi cabriofix until only last week and she is now 23kg and her feet were well off the end, she just folded her legs like a frog.

We have a rear facing seat that will last til DD is 5yrs for my DH's car (not everyones choice i know) so I've done loads of reasearch about the legs/ feet thing as I was worried about this and its really not a safety issue.

gingerbreadlatte · 18/03/2010 09:38

sorry, thats at the maximum weight limit, not more than.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 18/03/2010 09:48

Nat- Happy bday for DS1...

Playing- Sorry for the outcome, you sound very rational and forward thinking. If it does get too much and you wanna offload- you know we're here!!

hello everyone else- glad it seems everyone is getting over their poorlies!! I'mm almost back on top form- just tired as DD2 has a habit of waking at 5am for a feed- which isn't bad from 7pm... but i can never get back to sleep and i'm not used to it any more after her sleeping through for a few weeks!!

My appetite hasn't returned yet tho... which i'm taking as a good thing still so i can keep the weight off!! Yesterday i ate a sandwich and an almond finger... I just wasn't hungry at all!!

I'm still feeding DD2 3 feeds a day too so will be burning extra calories....

Playingatmotherhood · 18/03/2010 09:51

Hi all,

Had a lovely night with DH last night and still feeling ok today. Just waiting for it all to be over and to get that negative pg test so we can start again. ttcing always fills me with optomism

GBL - DS is still in his rear facing newborn Maxi-cosi car seat at a year old and counting, he still fits (well feet are well off the end but head still fits) so until he is actually grown out of it he is where he is staying as it far safer than the alternative and much easier to transport from car to car. Oh and yay for working from home

Nat - happy birthday to DS1

ses - LOL at the girl with the seperate dusters!

Gruff- of course cycling is much cheaper than the train, that didn't even enter my head. Do you think I can blame pg brain, I'm still getting a positive test?

Right got to go the the HV for DS's 1 year check (only 2 weeks late) so I'll be out for a bit but will catch up later.

MMM - sorry about your headache

Diege · 18/03/2010 09:54

Morning! Sorry didn't get a chance to get back on last night - was tougher than I thought getting back early from work and doing school run - I was still clearing the breakfast things off the table and 20 to 10 at night .
PLAYING, so sorry for your news yesterday - even though you were mentally prepared for the worst, it must still have been a scary thing having it confirmed. Take good care of yourself - I remember feeling really, really tired for some weaks after, but then it did help to focus on getting my energy back etc for trying to ttc again. Not that this is necessarily what everyone want to do!
NAT, happy birthday for ds - sounds like he will be having a lovely day. My 8 yr old will be 9 soon - the years are just flying by and . Make sure you get some time to look through your samples Oh and no doubt I've missed out the whys/what fors, but is there any reason you couldn't buy as opposed to rent? Just thinking you may get a bargain with the market being so slow?
TINKS,I sort of agree with GINGER on the safety aspect - I thought you had decided that B was too little for some time yet to get a 9kg seat? . Your choice of course, but I have heard a few horror stories over the years about pushing it with the weight guidelines (both too small and too big). Second lecture over
SES another busy day for you!
MMM agree that you x may well push it if you went out and it be chaos when you returned - no doubt to make sure you don't expect him to help again...could his mum/dad possibly point out what and arse he's being?

GruffaloSoldier · 18/03/2010 10:56

Morning all,

Thanks for the link NJ - very helpful indeed! its basically 3k under what we paid at the mo. we still need another month or so to finish off our improvements so will get thhat done and keep an eye on it!Happy birthday to DS!

Playing - LOL, no worries. it was a good point that you made re me being in town and not needing the car. DH said we should take it into consideration, but looking at rental prices there isn't that much difference at the mo. There isn't that much choice so we will just keep on eye on all areas we are considering.

Evenong with DH sounds nice

Tink - I agree with everyone else, I put GC in a 9kg+ car seat when he was 9kg. Wouldn't have done any earlier. it is just not worth the risk. plus they are much safer in rear facing because in impact the flow of motion goes with the spine as opposed to against it which prevents serious injury to the spine. ie.paralysis. sorry to get all serious but it really is a serious matter and I don;t want you to think I am being preachy but need to give you the facts so you know what could happen.you can do what you want but just offering advice in case you dont know...

GBL - incidentally if you don't mind me asking, I would really like to get a rear facing seat as the seat GC is in is only rear facing for a little while. how much did you pay for yours and where from??

Enjoy your day at home

Diege hope you have an easier day today!

CAnt - good that you are getting better!

MMM - good idea to get your appointment sorted!

Kayzr · 18/03/2010 11:05

Hello!!

Can anyone give me a summery of what I have missed!!
