MMM, it can help to write it down because it sort of completes the process, it's like you've done something about whatever it is that's keeping you awake, subconsiously at least! Hope your head eases soon.

Kay, it's only been two nights, it won't all change straight away, but even if he's not a great talker, you must push it, else you'll end up no better off. Could DH get up with the boys for a couple of days while you're not working?

essenceofSES · 05/03/2010 08:52

Morning! Just stopped off for a Costa whilst driving down to Eastbourne to visit some stores.

Kay - good to hear you're working things out. We often sit in front of tv in the evening. I like Nat's plan of one evening away from tv each week.

MMM - I guess when I can't sleep it's normally because I'm thinking about all I have to do so I'm making lists with the pen & paper. Eg: post x birthday card, pay x bill and so on.

Nat - I have this fantastic image of you screaming and doing a mad jiggy dance thing in front of a v bewildered postman

maxxymoosmummy · 05/03/2010 09:02

ye i understand how that wil help SES, the things im thinking about is family problems, so i dont know. jus cant stop the thoughts goin through my head and stuff.
could perhaps try it and see how it goes on.
thanks NJ and SES again.
costa sounds nice SES
off to get DSweighed this afternoone

tinkstoddleriswalking · 05/03/2010 09:12

morning

dd1 off today has a cough and didnt sleep much

Diege · 05/03/2010 10:14

Morning! Shattered here too - ds up most of the night with an awful cough poor thing And dd2 in and out saying she's worried about being tired at school as she can't sleep . Anyway, nothing a large coffee can;t solve for now anyway.
KAYZ, good to hear from you! I think maybe scheduling in a talk night would be good, rather than expecting it to happen spontaneously. You are like my dh I think, whereas I actively look forward to just sitting in front of the tv and saying nothing - not healthy! I like the idea of getting dh to get up early with the boys - I think he may well jump at the chance to redeem himself in anyway possible.
NAT, I too had a picture of you and postie in my mind, you tugging at his elbow as he scuttled away down the garden path
MMM, sounds like you are very stressed Might it be worth a gp visit to see if they can recommend anything? Just thinking those headaches you get can be so debilitating...is there anyone else you can talk things through with in the family face to face about what's keeping you awake?
TINKS, hope dd is ok with her cough - snap here.
SES, enjoy work! Sounds good (well, the Costa coffee part anyway
CANT, I had a dream about those bleedin gold hotpants last night. You and me were in Oxford Circus branch of Benettons and you produced them out of a vast wardrobe of yours on the shop stairs. I out them on and while they fitted like a dream they were blue and white cotton batik . Not sure what that means BTW on hols in whitby first 2 weeks in august, so can't meet then. I am thinking of taking older dds up to Blackpool for the day soon though - that is where you are isn't it?
Well my bank has stopped my card due to suspected fraudulent activity...some bugger has copied my card details and has been trying to use it, but thankfully the bank twigged. No harm done, but now I have to wait 5-7 days for new card...just when I have a mega shopping trip planned for tomorrow in town with friend . So now have to borrow off dh which won't be ideal if you see what I mean
Back later x

tinkstoddleriswalking · 05/03/2010 10:20

oh no diege!!! about card
shopping tom sounds good

need to get my mums mothers day card and getting an m&s gift card

Diege · 05/03/2010 10:49

In know TINKS - honestly, how do they expect a girl to do her internet shopping...and I do actually need to do some as had waiting till now to order paint in for dd3's room.
BTW, when is mother's day?

tinkstoddleriswalking · 05/03/2010 12:15

mothers day is the 14th of march a week sun

dont panic u have ages yet

receievd all boden bits except coat they are lovely. the cropped light denim trousers are really nice and luv the flower treim on them and the star zippy tops are lovely have red/pink for dd1 and blue for dd2

Diege · 05/03/2010 16:31

YOu get your dh's mums card for mother's day TINKS? You are a better woman than me Thanks for dates, phew it;s not this sun!
Boden bits sound great. My new card arrived this afternoon so back in action

cantmummyhaveabreak · 05/03/2010 16:48

Diege- your dream sounds fun!! ... Yes we're in blackpool... what are you planning to do when you come here? maybe i could meet up with you?...

I also get DH's mum's AND step-mum's cards... and resents too... i think if i didn't they wouldn't get one TBH... DH isn't a big card/present man... are any blokes???

Been at my course again today- been brill- already seeing how i've changed when trying to take on the 'helper' role. really can't wait to get out there and start putting it all inot real practice!!

MMM- i'll text you in a mo... you can't say that and not text me for a chat?... you know where i am!!

Diege · 05/03/2010 16:53

CANT, d'you think that's 'and resents too' is a Freudian slip? . My reasoning is that I have 4 kids already and he's a grown man with his own lunch hour in which to get stuff, so have always been quite principled on that behalf about NOT doing it...same with xmas stuff too...I know I am probably in the minority though!
I'm thinking about the fair...now, I've not been for years so not sure what to expect. Is it something the locals avoid like the plague? We could maybe meet you after for fish and chips, or the fair itself maybe if it's up your street?

cantmummyhaveabreak · 05/03/2010 17:01

fair? pleasure beach... i think it's way too expencive to take my DC's to yet... they can barely go on any of the rides.... how old are your older DD's... my DC's like sealife centre/sandcastle (swimming place)/blackpool zoo.... but then they are 5 & 3 yo!!

the pier with all the rides on (can't remember which) is pretty good, i went as a 'youth' and it was fun... waltzers etc...

Meeting for fish n chips sounds good tho... what with paying for the dining room floor to be done in a few weeks we're saving every possible penny!! The kids'll be lucky to get more than bread and butter for the next month So chippy would be fab!!

Actually that reminds me- i was naughty this morning and spent some pennies... but it was for easter tho... i got the girls matching outfits!! red cord dresses with lovely tee's underneath and grey leggings- they look very swish!! Can't wait to get em in them!!

Diege · 05/03/2010 17:07

ooh that's good to know CANT about the 'Pleasure' beach... I think a run around the beach and a go on the pier would be better actually as we are counting pennies too and, as you say, they're probably not tall enough for a lot of the rides (8, 7). I'm thinking either easter or end of May hols, so will let you know Meeting for fish and chips would be great.
Outfits sound very sweet. I used to dress the 2 of mine the same, or similar, but it sort of dropped off when dd3 was born and now they have very different taste!

tinkstoddleriswalking · 05/03/2010 17:07

wow card came quickly!! i received dd1s coat now 2 really nice i am guessing that age 5-6 with boden is more like 4-5 years as they dont do age 4-5 years. coat is age 5-6 years and doesnt seem that huge.
going to send back capris tomorrow that i ordered a mnth ago i have decided they are nice just abit too patterned to go with the patterned tshirts.
going to exchange for clam diggers in pink and aqua

hi cant good shopping

the reason i am getting dhs mums pressy and card is he isnt going into town he hates shopping!!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 05/03/2010 17:13

Argh- DD1 just called me 'mum'.... since when did she grow up?????

Diege- we do have some plans over easter, but let me know if you are coming then and we can see if we're free. We're off to a friends for easter weekend, then have the builders in doing the floor mid-week, then have DD1's bday on the 9th...

Dh doesn't normally let me buy matching outfits as it scares him... they already look the same !! But as usual i get my way!!

Oh i'm not going ahead with plan no4... dunno how/why but my broodiness has just vanished!! I want to see these 3 become proper little people and grow up, i want a nice nappy free holiday sooner rather than later, i want to get myself a carear... lots... and they'd all gone out the window when i felt so broody!! I'm actually re-considering surrogacy... giving the gift of life before i get on with mine... dunno- sounds appealing still!!

Diege · 05/03/2010 17:23

TBH it'll more than likely be the may hols as easter seems so soon now and it is still so cold! We get last week may first June off, for some bizarre reason that I've still not worked out. Can see your reasoning about no.4, though remember you don't need to decide anything yet - you have years ahead!!! Is it hairdressing you do/did?
I've sort of gone off no.5 too, though I suppose for me I need to decide in the next 2 or 3 years before my eggs dry up...One minute I'm dead keen, ready to start this month, the next I think it's the maddest idea I've heard of...so for now get me off any list, real or imagined
TINK, yes, think you're right with the sizing. Plus for some reason I think summer boden seems to come up a bit smaller (esp the dresses). I think they do 4-5 in some styles. Yes, card did come quickly - I think they cottoned on to the money they would be losing if I was cardless for more than 3 days

cantmummyhaveabreak · 05/03/2010 17:27

May would be better for us... but not sure of holidays yet... will try and find out soon though as i'll need to know myself. Our's will only get 1 week off tho.

I am a trained hairdesser, but i dont wanna do that... thinking going down the NHS route for something breastfeeding related... as long as a job was there for me.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 05/03/2010 17:45

Right i'm off for this evening... DH and DS have set off for the wrestling... wont be back till late- probs about 10ish by time they've driven home too... DS will no doubt fall asleep in the car on his way home. I intend to be in bed before they're back- Bath then bed with the soaps i think once the girls are tucked up.

will most likely be about tomorrow- no school runs/DH off etc!!

Diege · 05/03/2010 18:27

Enjoy your evening CANT - sounds relaxing. You may well find something that suits in the NHS, esp in next few years (I have a friend who works as a bf adviser as part of Surestart initiative it fits in perfectly with family life - she has 5 Los).
Off here too I think. Putting ds up now as he's shattered, and then waiting for dd2 to get delivered back from party at 7ish before the rest go up. Want to catch the soaps too, and the final part of '5 days'.
See everyone tomorrow

GruffaloSoldier · 05/03/2010 22:28

Evening all!

I wrote a huge post last night and lost it so going to attempt again now!

I didnt get the doctorate! Didnt even get an interview. I knew it was competitive though, 30 applicants per place was going to be hard! However with a degree and a masters degree and 7 years experience I thought I would at least get an interview. Anyway I was kind of disappointed but at the same time I am over the moon that I don't have to wait over three years before DC2 and also a full time course for 3 years would have been hard with DS not to mention a 33,000 word thesis! and DH having to either relocate or long commute.

SO I am throwing myself into this Education Law course I am doing for my volunteer work and am hoping this will lead to oaid work at some point down the line...for now I am SAHM and enjoying time with DS (and planning when to start TTCing DC2 )

Anyway! Have been lurking so pretty much am up to date.

MMM- with sleeping I had this prob recently. Things keep going over and over in your head and you cant stop thinking so lay awake for hours! I had 1 hour sleep on my worst night. I try to go to bed before 11.30pm so I am not over tired (IME it made it much worse) and then try and think of something to look forward to like an outing with DS, a holiday,a nice memory from the past. Something that is positive and relaxing. Try hard not to think of anything else.It works for me. Otherwise you could try some calming classical music?? Not tried it but might work?? warm bath with lavender? milky drink, maybe all of the above! hope you sort it soon I def know what you are going through!

Tink - great shopping! and wow,DD1's reading sounds fab!was she an early talker??

NJ - how exciting about the course! hope stuff gets there very quick!

SES - glad work going ok. you sure packed a lot in to Wednesday! SES = supermum!

GBL - glad to see you back on here!Hope you enjoyed your two days off with SG and she wasn't too ill and is over it now in time for the weekend!

Kayz - glad you and DH are giving it a go. I really hope things get better from here for you!

Rugby - good luck on the weight loss. I have lost 1st 3lb between Sept and Jan. Found loads fell off after I started eating dinner with GC before 6pm as you burn more off to if you eat later. I have dessert later on in the eve to keep my hunger at bay

Diege - good going on the weight loss!meet up sounds nice with CANT in fact it made me ask DH if we can get fish and chips soon

Cant - hope course is going well. I thought it lead to a job at the end?? interesting that you don't want DC4 but would consider surrogacy still. amazing thing to do aswell!

Hmmm I think i will stop there as its quite big post! Hope everyone is enjoying there Friday eve! hello to anyone I've missed!

smithylovesme · 06/03/2010 00:46

Hi everyone, remember me??? Formally Mommy in the middle or 2beautifulgirls?
We are now across the pond and settling in slowly.
Can't believe DS is nearly 10 months old, seems like yesterday that i was talking with all you guys about EWCM and POAS?
Any more wagon pregnancies to report yet?

Diege · 06/03/2010 09:50

Morning! Welcome back MIM!!! (SMITHY!). How are things? Was it the US you moved to? How are things going? No wagon pregnancies to report, though there have been talks in that direction and think a few of us (SES, Gruff) will be trying again soon. What about you?
GRUFF, sorry to hear you didn't get the doctorate. I know it was a 'win win' situation with ttc-ing on the cards, but still must be a bit gutting. Didn;t realise it was so competitive! The course you're doing sounds great though, and with ttc-ing on the cards it's an excting time for you
MMM hope you slept better last night. I slept 11 till 6, rare for me, and feel much better for it. Meeting frined in town at 12 and shopping til we drop Then friends coming round for tea. When they've gone (well, they'll have to go before 9 )I'm watching the Simon Cowell interview with Piers Morgan, and also have to fit in Final Destination 4 before bed!
Hope everyone's having a good weekend xx

tinkstoddleriswalking · 06/03/2010 12:21
