Well, I had my scan today.
All seems well, except they have moved my due date from 27 August to 8 September .
But baby is alive and kicking in there.
I have to go back for my proper 12-week scan on 3 March.

ElusiveMoose · 16/02/2010 22:09

Hi all,

Just a quick post to say hi before I crash into bed. Back from lovely long weekend in Oxford. DS behaved like an angel for my ILs, and DH and I got to spend a really nice and nostalgic couple of days alone. (NB ex-oxers, we did go to Jamie's in the end, and it was fab - didn't have to queue for too long, and the food was great. Quite weird, though - college was completely deserted. Only saw about five students in two days, including in the beer cellar on a Saturday night!! What do students do these days????).

Very glad to find there's been no bad news on the thread in the last few days, and brilliant to hear about some more positive scans .

All the weight talk is a bit depressing, though - I'm feeling so heavy already (and I wasn't exactly in shape before I got pregnant, which doesn't help). Just had four days of eating like a pig, so I'm really going to try to make an effort to be a bit healthier now, I think.

Date updated to 25th August after 12 week scan (meant to do this ages ago!)

girlsyearapart · 17/02/2010 07:41

elusive we went to Jamie Olivers on Monday- though not the Oxford one. Food was nice but though it was a tiny bit over priced.

I have midwife on Thursday- should hear the heartbeat for the first time which will make me happy. God help her if she says I've put too much weight on it was her who banned me from the exercise I wanted to do!

loobyt · 17/02/2010 07:50

Had my scan yesterday and all is well. Baby was sleeping to begin with but started to wriggle around towards the end. I feel properly pregnant now Oh and my due date has been moved to the 21st.

ronx glad your scn went well too

elusive I too am a Jamie fan and have been to his Italian in Bath a few times, the food was fab. Your weekend away sounds like bliss, lucky you!

mrsZaC · 17/02/2010 09:53

morning all hope everyone is well today,

Congrats to loobyt and ronx with your scans

jealous of all your jamie oliver dining, they are opening one up here in Glasgow in the summer, next door to my office, looking forward to having a go!

Finally I got some of my energy back last night, got the estate agents coming round tomorrow to take pics so trying to scrub up the flat, looks like my energy might have come back at just the right time. I even did 30 min of stepping on the wii whilst watching 'one born'

Talking of 'one born' what did you make of it, I may be being a little harsh but I totally thought the 20 yr old was making such a fuss, those poor midwifes having to put up with her screatching! hope I'm not offending anyone to say I thought she came accross as a spoilt brat crying for mummy! They know it's painful, there is no need for telling the whole hospital about it! Althought I might eat my words come August

neenz · 17/02/2010 10:09

Ah MrsZac you make me smile . You never know till you've been there yourself! Yes, I think screaching is a bit much but I am telling you it is like no pain you have ever had. I was determined to have a natural birth with just gas and air and my sister said beforehand 'the pain is not that bad - it's mind over matter'. Well about 30 mins into labour I was having the most intense contractions and thought 'it's not mind over matter - it's fucking really painful!!' I did just have g&a in the end, got in the bath which really helped with the pain, but my mum turned up a few hours in and I sobbed 'mum, it really hurts!' It really did!

Congrats on scan Ronx and loobyt - Ronx you can't leave us even if it is September!

bigmuther, sorry you are having problems with your family, it sounds like they are being very insensitive to you and you're right to be annoyed... familes are crap sometimes

I have started to feel really good these last couple of days too . The sickness stopped a few weeks ago but the tiredness was still quite bad. But I am much more full of energy now, so much so that I wondered if I wasn't pg anymore! I am 14+6. But I listened in with the doppler this morning, found a hb and felt the baby squirm out of the way!

babyducky · 17/02/2010 10:16

morning all

great news on the scans

mrs zac, i agree, she was making it much worse for herself aswell, screaming so much & breathing like that!

I am the biggest wimp ever & even I didnt make that much fuss!

So scary hearing the heartbeat dip like that, thats what happened when I had ds.

Some of your midwives sound awful telling u off about your weight! Mine didnt even weigh me, I had to fill in a form with my pre pregnancy weight on but that was it, my bmi was about 26/27 so I knocked a few pounds off to make it 24!

Oooh hope I get some of your glow aswell vix, Im starting to feel a bit better now, still a bit sicky though.

have a good day everyone

mrsZaC · 17/02/2010 10:18

yeah, sorry if that came accross a bit high and mighty and totaly nieve I'm fully aware that it's going to be bloody painful, but I just thought that she was a bit OTT with the midwives and her poor partner. Sorry to hear about your painful birth neez hope this one will be better for you

Aussieng · 17/02/2010 10:31

Morning all - just popping in to scoop up some of the "glow dust". MS back with a wham yesterday - really knocked me for 6 - welcome to week 19 of your pregnancy. Do feel better today though and last weekend DH made a really sweet comment (half asleep) about how well I was looking [in lurve emoticon].

Sorry to those of you with families which bring you down. Mine have been fab and I know I would be really upset if they were anything less than appropriately olverwhelmed and excisted about impending grandparenthood. Probably helps having no siblings though (in some ways - as an only child that is definitly not a choice I would make for my own children).

Mrs Zac - Sam got on my nerves too (especially guzzling the gas and air like that) but at the same time I was very concerned that I may be that terrified and pathetic when my time comes. Also given how much she calmed down after the pethedine was given makes me think that she really was in a lot of discomfort previously. There were some interesting posts on the TV addicts thread about people having very difficult first stage labours and the MW's not taking the pain seriously enough until they were at least 5-6cm dilated. Either way - what a super cute baby.

CherryPie - is there a story? [nosy gossip monger emoticon]

bigmuther65 · 17/02/2010 11:30

I also think that she was being a drama queen, her mum was great, the OH looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights.Do get wound up though by young non working families having children so more of my hard earned money can go to support them.
Trying to have a chilled out day ,also a fan of my wii fit love trying the yoga moves not very good at them my balance is rubbish.

CherryPie3 · 17/02/2010 11:42

MrsZaC I'm a screecher!!!! Well I was with my first - and my mum was there! It really does bloody hurt, lots!!!

Labour with DS was better tho as I knew what to expect and was able to better prepare myself - thing is with your first you're facing the unknown. Doesn't matter what advice you get given - everyones experience is different and is no indication to how yours will be.

I was totally petrified when I went into labour with dd as she was 5 weeks early and didn't feel prepared at all - although even if she had been overdue I still don't think I would have felt prepared!!!

Congrats to all successful scans!!!! Ronx you must stay with us - pretty pleeeeease

Aussie No story I'm afraid - someone posted my real name on another thread (only first name but still) and I got a bit freaked so changed my nickname. Chances are they still know but not a great deal I can do.

I never have gossip do I???

CherryPie3 · 17/02/2010 11:46

Oh - and pethidine was horrible for me!!!! Yuk Yuk Yuk!!!

Then again don't like the taste of g&a either just no pleasing some people!!!!

vix206 · 17/02/2010 11:51

Just went to get re-fitted for my bra because I was bulging out of all my current ones. I have been putting it off because I am still growing, but as a trained bra fitter myself I know how important it is to get the right support. Anyway, I was really shocked at how much I have grown! I've gone from a 30E to a 34F which is 2 cup sizes larger, god knows how big they'll end up at this rate! I'm just thankful for Freya, I can't recommend their bras enough, pretty, supportive and sooo comfy!

Think I'm gonna watch one born every minute on my computer over lunch time, see what this screeching woman is up to!

bouncingblueberries · 17/02/2010 12:04

Oh, I love Freya too! Best bras ever for those of us with generous boobies

vix206 · 17/02/2010 12:06

OMG just watching One born....got to first ad break. Sorry but Sam is really annoying me!! (so far!)

ronx · 17/02/2010 12:17

I don't want to leave ;-)

Knowing my luck, this baby will make an early appearance. My DS was a week early, and I was 6 weeks early

CherryPie3 · 17/02/2010 12:25

I really need to remember to watch 'One Born...' I have no excuse for missing it either with sky+!!

Is it just on on a Tuesday? Any idea if there are any re-runs of it? I want to see this Sam screeching I want to know what I looked/sounded like

vix206 · 17/02/2010 12:44

We don't have a tv so I always watch in on channel4.com/4od on my computer.

vix206 · 17/02/2010 13:02

PS I agree Sam became much less annoying once they gave her drugs

mrsZaC · 17/02/2010 13:31

yeah she totally mellowed out at the end, and was perfectly pleasant!

vix I need to go bra shopping desperately, I currenltly only have 1 bra I can get into (luckily white) I was a 30FF so god only knows what I'll end up with. Do you end up having to buy a few different sizes during pregnancy? and do you know if you have to get the wireless ones at this stage?

Chulita · 17/02/2010 13:46

Is it just me or so far do most of these ladies take it lying down? I only survived with DD by pacing like an idiot for 6 days. Yea, it hurt like hell but sitting/lying down just made it unbearable! I think you're either a screamer or you're not. I grunted more than anything else and squeezed DH's hand harder than I probably should have He didn't complain once though, good man!
mrsZac, I find after a day in an underwired bra my boobs really hurt so I've retired them for now and am living in my nursing bras already
