I had my scan on Thursday which was fine - confirmed my due date as 24th Aug so will add myself to the list now. And it looks like another girl which I'm really pleased about (hope I don't get a surprise at the next scan!) The heartrate was consistently pretty high so I need to have that checked out in a couple of weeks but hopefully it's nothing. Have told my other children now and they've taken the news pretty well and my sickness is improving so all good

oooh Doodley - your DH is going to be sorry he missed the last few mintues of the rugby.

Congrats Jenny - hope there is nothing to worry about - I thought heartbeats were supposed to be high>

cakeywakey · 13/02/2010 16:09

Congrats Jenny, isn't it lovely to see them on the screen? Hope you're given the all-clear on the heartbeat front asap.

KayloHalo · 13/02/2010 16:09

congrats on the scan Jenny How good of them to tell you the sex at this stage?

Almost makes me wanna find out myself but we are determined to have a surprise this time around. We did find out with dd and ds.

All these journalists - should we be scared?

How is everybody all in all?

OP posts:
vitapulchra · 13/02/2010 16:16

Congrats on your good scan, Jenny. Hope all remains well.

DCs and I have been furiously baking and decorating heart cookies this weekend, and then Monday is DS1 5th birthday. When asked, he said all he wanted for his birthday was to see Grandma and have a strawberry cake. Awwww.

I still can't believe I'll have 4 DC 5yrs and under come August. I think I may need my own special thread to deal with this! Though I'm usually very laid back and think, it'll all work out fine in the long run, right? The first few months will just be a blur of nappies, spit-ups, purees, sausages and school runs, and the sense of time passing will be enhanced by my never, ever sleeping again. But they do grow up so quickly.

jennycomelately · 13/02/2010 16:20

Thanks, I'm sure the heartrate thing will turn out fine but it's another thing to worry about! I think the gender thing isn't entirely accurate at this stage but she sounded pretty sure, and she volunteered the information so am quite hopeful - they got my last baby's gender right at 12 weeks! (This was the Fetal Medicine Centre btw so it was a very clear scan).

With my earlier babies I didn't find out the sex, and it is nice to find out at birth, but this time I wanted to know. Just hope it's not wrong!

vitapulchra · 13/02/2010 16:33

My dr also said at my 11.5 wk scan that he thought our LO is a boy! Too early to be certain but he seemed to think so. I like finding out the gender because we can pick a name, and think of the LO as who he/she is, rather than "the baby". I really enjoy that, and it seemed to help the DCs when the last one came along.

vitapulchra · 13/02/2010 19:21

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone [passes around heart-shaped cookies, freshly iced]

Aussieng · 13/02/2010 20:08

Booooooooooooooooooooooored. There is a serious risk that I am going to log on to Ebay and start spending money.

Yum cookies....

Vitapulchra did you see the thread about it not being a good idea to have children too close together. You are living proof that it can be done and still spend quality time with them all!

cazzybabs · 13/02/2010 22:05

We told our girls today...well it was OK. They weren't overly excited but equally didn't run from the house screaming.....

now just work.....

KayloHalo · 14/02/2010 11:18

Happy Valentines Day Girlies Aussie I had the same problem last night - so I went and bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans - bargains they were as well!! 2 pairs for £20!!!

Vita Thanks for the cookies - yummy!

Whats this about a thread for children close together? Mine are 15 months apart and it was very hard but also very rewarding. Not a good idea? Bah to them who think so!!

QUESTION
Should I be worried that I can no longer feel lo moving around? I've been concentrating for a couple of days (well...about 4days) and - nothing. Am I trying too hard? It is still early but I'm just worried because I've already felt him/her having a wriggle. I'm scared something has gone wrong and I won't know until the 20wk scan which 3.5wks away.

Have a lovely valentines everyone
xxxxxx

ooops - how did i do that?

OP posts:
Aussieng · 14/02/2010 13:13

DH now asleep after working until 5 am. Grrrr

Kaylo - a sundresses and a jacket

There was a thread on AIBU (which I have to confess I did not read other than the first couple of posts as I felt it might wind me up given that 1) if I want to have more than 1 child they will have to be fairly close together and 2) given my age, I already feel guilty enough that I've been a selfish, career obsessed b*tch who did not care enough to give her unborn children the best start possible in life by ensuring that I met their father before I was 33 years old [in my defence he was in a different hemisphere] and having them when I was 24 years 6 months and 2 weeks old precisely). And breathe....

Anyhooo - apparently a psychologist says it is better to have children 3.5 years apart because they get more individual attention and No. 1 is off to school by the time No.2 needs his share.

Re your question: I don't know is the answer but it would seem to me at this age it would be quite possible for the baby to get into a position where you could not feel the kicks (because they are so small). There is no recommendation that you monitor movements until much later and this is probably why. Hope all is well and you manage to relax.

girlsyearapart · 14/02/2010 14:13

aussie yes he is working tonight (exploiting other people's romantic spirit), Sunday night is either a work night or a pub night so don't normally see him anyway sunday night.

Anywy tomorrow I'm going to have a day off from around 1030, going to see Valentines Day film, gym, swim, shops lunch then going out with DH in the evening. Can't wait

That thread is such a load of crap I posted on it. There is an argument for whatever you want really isn't there? anyway mine are going to be close together, for my own sanity II want to get the whole baby/sleepless night thing over in as few years as possible..

cazzybabs · 14/02/2010 14:23

KayloHalo - I have started to feel it move...but certainly not everyday and only when lying in bed. I have probably felt it 2-3 times since a week and a bit ago...and not for a few days, but have heard it hearts beat

LizzieA · 14/02/2010 14:57

Hello everyone,
I'm 14 weeks today with my first baby. I've been lucky enough to have an uneventful pregnancy so far - I had all day nausea which has stopped in the last two week or so (fingers crossed), tiredness and sore boobs but if that's as bad as it gets I'll count myself lucky - after reading some of the other symptoms and problems from the other mums to be I feel positively glowing!

My dh forgot valentines day! Oh well, he did take me to the theatre last night to see what I have wanted to see for ages, BUT that was a wedding anniversary present (v belated!!) but tied in nicely. I was told that after 5 years he didn't think I would mind he forgot valentines day.

I've recently lost all symptoms of pregnancy except a very chubby belly not pregnant looking, just fat...that and sheer exhaustion after walking 2 miles/going to SureStart/eating breakfast. But I haven't thrown up in about 2 weeks and I usually feel really jolly and chilled out. DD's cutting her pre-molars though so that keeps me grounded!

neenz · 15/02/2010 09:34

Welcome LizzieA

Kaylo, if you are worried make an appt with the mw and she will listen in for the hb. I am sure its nothing to worry about.

My Dh didn't get me a Valentine's card either, but I said don't worry make it up to me by hoovering the house. So he did that then made my tea. That was much better than getting a card

Doodleydoo · 15/02/2010 09:35

Damn! mind didn't even load the bloody dishwasher!

mrsZaC · 15/02/2010 10:07

Morning ladies,

Just been catching up on all I've missed!

Welcome newbies & congrats on all the scan results

Had a nice day yesterday, DH made me a lovely homemade card with a hand-drawn picture of our jelly bean on it I made him blueberry french toast for brekkie and he treated me to homemade soup for lunch and roast beef & yorkshire pud for dinner, briliant Valentines! The bonus was I finally managed to finish my photography work that has been piling up that I haven't mustered up the energy to do, full time job + part time business don't work well together when preggers. So all round a cracking day. DH away to work tomorrow for two weeks- boooh! but least I have my scan to look forward to, which should hopefully be next week - woo hoo!

Is anyone else getting an itchy belly and back? I've been bio-oiling up morning and night but somedays I get sooooo itchy, I believe it's your skin stretching - cripes!

growingbump2 · 15/02/2010 10:16

Morning ladies,

This is the first morning I've woke up without ms, possibly since conception! Am going to get out and seize the day ha ha, dont start work till 5 pm. Will have to go to Tesco with ds which will be fun
How sad but I have worked out I have 38 shifts left before I finish work!

isheisnthe · 15/02/2010 10:36

Hi all - Had my combined test results back and apparently I have 1 in 610 chance of the baby having downs - is that good - When I had my first son (may moons ago!) I am sure in was in the 1000's - I guess with age creeping up the risk goes up to.

So - good or bad result????????????

mrsZaC · 15/02/2010 11:16

I have no idea isheisnthe.. sorry, sounds good though

tee hee growingbump2 I've been counting down the days till I finish too.. can't wait!
