OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
augustsun · 01/02/2010 14:16

I feel so sorry for Littlemiss and the other ladies that had to leave, hope they will recover soon, maybe joining another thread.

I had my scan last Friday: all good so far, a big relief. I could hear the heart and see the little one moving.

Anyone started thinking about names and when starting the maternity leave??? I know, a bit early still

Missus84 · 01/02/2010 14:37

I called our local children's centre today just to enquire if they had a waiting list for the baby room, as a friend warned us that they can be long. Was shocked to hear it's 12 months so they're not even taking new children on to the list!

12 months is actually when we'd need a place, so might try to persuade them to put us on the list anyway. Apparently it gets so full because middle class parents from outside our area use it as we're really close to the city centre. Not really what the children's centre was set up for if locals can't access it!

mrsZaC · 01/02/2010 15:06

good luck for tomorrow vita

dibbydab sounds like something my mum would say! what did you buy? I got a mamas and papas catologue through yesterday, think DH nearly died at the price of the stuff, especially the furniture

getting well into my tired slump now.. need some nibbles to keep me awake!

congrats on your scan august and whomever else I've missed with recent scan results.

Was looking into maternity leave today actually, think I'll go off officially 4-5 weeks before and then take holidays for the rest of the year before that, so hopefully about 8-9 weeks before due date - woo hoo can't wait!

littlemiss72 · 01/02/2010 15:08

Thanks for all you kind posts, appreciate it.

Wasn't meant to be this time, makes you realise the how hard it all is from the minute of conception. It's my first time trying and first pregnancy, sadly reading some of the other posts on this site it's not uncommon.

I'm taking some time out, off work and glass of wine as soon as 6pm comes.

Take care of yourselves girls, I'll pop in and say hi when I feeling better and see how your all doing.

Take care x x x

mrsZaC · 01/02/2010 15:10

enjoy your vino littlemiss hope your feeling better soon, all the best for the future sweetheart xx

Doodleydoo · 01/02/2010 15:37

So sorry for you littlemiss, I just want to say something to all the ladies to give you a bit of hope - my sister had a mc in her first pregnancy, 3 months later she was pg again and now has a rather boisterous, stroppy teenage daughter! So I really hope we see you on another thread soon. Thinking of you.

Dibbydab · 01/02/2010 15:55

MrsZac we got a sleigh cot bed in Babies R Us and a Gracco Quattro (?) travel system. Both in the sale. DH has had his eye on that cot bed for ages - we ordered it and the girl said, oh, Katie Price has got that one in white (we got it in the dark wood) - DH nearly changed his mind!

The travel system, well we're a bit about the whole thing to be honest - if it has wheels and carries the baby safely, it'll do the job for us. We read loads of reviews on the £600/£700 prams and they all had good and bad points, so we've gone for a mid price £300 jobby. I must have a gene missing, because it really doesn't bother me having the latest Bugaboo/Quinny/iCandy, I just don't get it.

starshaker · 01/02/2010 16:12

Ive bought a couple packs of vests and babygrows but thats about it so far lol

Dibbydab · 01/02/2010 16:12

Going to have a go at my first ever link

Sleigh cot bed

Matress was another £70 on top - I'm sure our bed didn't cost this much!

Just adding myself back onto the list.

I haven't posted for a while, but I have been lurking and reding all the posts.

I am so to all of you who have lost your little beans. I have been really wary of posting because this thread has been so sad.

I am a little worried myself, I have my scan on Thursday and I'll be 12+5, but I was suffering from really bad sickness up until about 10 weeks and then it seemed to fade away, suppose I am just anxious that I will go to the scan and there won't be anything there . Boobs still sore though, so I'm holding onto that.

cakeywakey · 01/02/2010 19:07

Evening everyone, sorry to hear your scan result LittleMiss - I've been there too and it's just heartwrenching. Take care and good luck for when you TTC next time.

Girlsyearapart my previous m/c is why we're leaving it so long to tell people - although I'm starting to show now, particularly towards the end of the day. I lost my first pregnancy at 10 weeks which was picked up at an EPU scan. I was pregnant again within 3 months with DD, but it's always a worry in the back of my mind. Once I've had the scan I think that both DH and I will be able to start enjoying looking forward to our new arrival - we're keeping a bit of a lid on it at the moment. Roll on 12 Feb!

Congratulations to all the ladies with good scan results BTW

I told my boss today and she was really lovely about it. Phew!

Chulita · 01/02/2010 20:02

Mmmm! Minted lamb burgers and couscous Deelicious, although I had to get DH to mix the meat, I couldn't face garlicky hands for the rest of the night!
It sounds silly but I feel so much more excited having heard the heartbeat, I didn't at the 12 week scan. Well...that and chatting to a lady across the road with a little 6 week old Summer can't come soon enough!
Any news bigmuther?

driedapricots · 01/02/2010 20:45

hi allcan someone add me back on to the list, can't work out how to copy and paste from this laptop!
aug 8th -dried apricots #2 surrey. aged 34. 12 week scan fine

also, i see some of you have started thinking about prams...don't suppose anyone wants a mamas and papas 7 in 1 travel system.i had it with my first so it's 2 years old but in v good condition..i just need to replace with a double now i'm gonna have 2..actually i think there are forums to sell things on here aren't there?? i'm a bit of a MN novice still! anyway, if anyone is interested perhaps we can hook up offline to sort out.

it's wierd but since the scan - which really put my mind at rest - i actually keep forgetting i'm pregnant..isn't that awful. does anyone else with more than 1 already do the same??!

oh, and back to names..DH came up with Layla the other day...i'm not sure. no offense to anyone called Layla but it sounds a bit cheap to me! what do you think?? I like Phoebe, much sweeter!

neenz · 01/02/2010 20:48

So sorry for the losses and worrying scans .

I have really itchy skin. I had raised bile acid levels at the end of my last pregnancy indicating cholestasis but surely I haven't got that again this early? I;ve read that the skin can itch because there is more blood there, so hope it;s just that. Got my scan wed so can ask them then.

Plant, my sickness tailed off at about 10 weeks too. It comes back when I am very tired (which is a lot as I have 21mo twins to look after) but it is totally normal.

neenz · 01/02/2010 20:50

Driedapricots, what on earth is a 7 in 1 pram?! I keep forgetting I am pg - since I heard a hb with the doppler I have got really relaxed about it and it's really strange as I was stressing out constantly before!

driedapricots · 01/02/2010 20:54

ha ha..its an amzing feat of engineering wherby it turns into 7 different things...2 of which are all you need!! no, it's a pram (carrycot) pushchair, car seat..and then an extra stand means it can transform into crib (carrycot on stand) highchair (pushchair on stand ..which you never use) and something else..actually maybe it's 5 in 1??/ dunno, but it's good!!

bigmuther65 · 02/02/2010 08:21

Every thing at my scan was fine, got my appointment for my 20 wk scan on the 1st April.sorry this is a short post but i am feeling really rubbish at the moment over the moon that every thing is fine, but fed up with feeling so sick and lifeless.

girlsyearapart · 02/02/2010 08:39

mrsZaC · 02/02/2010 09:11

morning!

there we go driedapricots back on the list I quite like Layla, reminds me of the Eric Clapton song

Dibbydab nice cot bed! jealous that you've been buying things, if all goes well with my 13wk scan then I'll celebrate by buying something I think... another 3 weeks to go before that to Who is getting/has crib or moses basket, can't decide which is better.. or do you just use a cot? confusing!!

Fab news on your scan bigmuther glad your bean is doing well

Feeling a bit worried today... woke up with a mega sore lower back, like I do when I get my period, and (sorry if TMI) but my discharge this morning is kinda brownish looking... but was only a little bit, think I'm just being paranoid tho. I'm sure jelly bean is doing dandy, will keep and eye on it during the day and see what happens. Can't wait till my scan!!

Alicetheinvisible · 02/02/2010 09:59

Morning

MrsZac i am sure it is nothing, but perhaps ring your mw? you may get an earlier scan

Saw my mw on friday, and she seems ok. I am feeling a bit more relaxed about vbac/elective cs choice now. My scan is on friday and really looking forward to it. Even though most of our friends and family know, i can't wait to make it public.

Sickness is much better and i am not so tired now, i am getting dehydrated very easily though, probably from the constant weeing!

NichyNoo · 02/02/2010 10:08

Hi everyone - so sorry to hear your news littlemiss

I should be 13+3 today!!!! Had a bit of a panic last night - not sure if any of you ladies can provide the answer? Basically, as I live Belgium the doctors are very cautious about toxoplasmosis (which you catch from eating undercooked meat, salad that isn't washed, cat poo etc.). I am sure that my GP told me that pregnant women can eat steak that is medium/rare as long as it is frozen (and fully defrosted) beforehand.

I had a rare steak last night that had been pre-frozen then got worried and thought I'd best check on the Internet that it is indeed OK. However I can't find anything, anywhere to back up the frozen theory. Now I'm starting to doubt whether the GP told me this at all or whether I picked it up from somewhere else....

Got really stressed last night - can't phone my GP to check until tomorrow. Please tell me I'm not mad and that this is OK or have I made a stupid mistake???!

babyducky · 02/02/2010 10:12

Glad your scan went well bigmuther

mrszac- last time we had a Moses basket, swinging crib & a cot! Hardly used the crib though, this time we will just use the Moses basket for the 1st few months then into the cot.

I agree it's prob nothing to worry about but maybe call the midwife anyway

have woken up with a cold this morning, feel awful!

Have a good day everyone x

Alicetheinvisible · 02/02/2010 10:13

I believe it is ok as it is 'whole' meat iyswim? It is much more likely to get nasties from processed meat (salami, mince, pate etc)

babyducky · 02/02/2010 10:13

Love that cot dibbydab!!
