Hi all,

Is it too late to join in here?

I've only just seen the antenatal threads . I'm due with my first (DS) on Feb 8 (and it cannot come soon enough!)

woowa · 03/02/2010 15:38

welcome initio, It's never too late to join the fun here! I'm due with first on 11th, and likewise, it can't come soon enough! What's your particular groan? We don't mind honesty about bodily ailments here!!

My feet hurt!

AbsB · 03/02/2010 15:45

Welcome Initio... I'm due with my first on the 25th but this baby is going to be a biggun!

I second woowa on the ailment front - my ankles are SO SWOLLEN! I'm having a pedicure on Monday but what on earth is the point? My feet look like someone has tried to blow them up with a foot pump!

sunnybump · 03/02/2010 15:56

Congratulations Clappedout, I LOVE the name, it's fabulous! Glad you're both well now, together, and home for lots of cuddling. Ooooo I just can't wait to meet my LO but my due date of 18th seems ages away!

Shiregirl is this a late bloom do you think, I never really got one in the second trimester so good to know it could still happen!

Woowa good on you for making in to Aquanatal despite your foot problems. Our pool is being refurbed which means it's cancelled here (and I'm secretly glad blush)

Welcome Initio glad you've found us

Stoofadoof how's the toothache today?

Mawbroon how do you stay so positive? It's inspirational.

IC you're breastfeeding and reading Mumsnet in tandem already, I'm impressed at your multitasking!

Abs I so know what you mean about swollen feet. Mine have improved loads - but not to the point that I fit anything but the loosest slip-ons...

Initio · 03/02/2010 16:09

Thanks all! Funnily enough, I feel OK today, I wonder if it's the calm before the storm?

Yesterday I was right weepy and pathetic, but today strangely alright, apart from what feels like stabbing pains in my lady bits.

I'm thinking the boy must have dropped lower as my heartburn is much better. Also had balloon feet over the weekend, and the were so itchy too. How random is that?

fiziwizzle · 03/02/2010 16:29

Congratulations Clappedout! Glad to hear that Otto is doing well, lovely name .

Hi Initio! I'm due on Monday too. I'm sure I'm going to be late though, my mum's were all late, my sister's were late... As long as it doesn't arrive on the due date itself as I have my driving test on Monday ! As soon as that's out of the way then Operation Baby can commence. Looking forward to the hot curries, not so much the long walks.

AbsB · 03/02/2010 17:01

Fizi that is hilarious that you have your driving test on Monday! Will you fit behind the wheel!!!

I had a job interview yesterday, it went so well, they asked if I could start the first week of March! I said Id love to but I'm due on the 25th of Feb so don't really think I'd be up to it ... so they've agreed to some time in the summer once I have my BFing sorted out.....

I know what you mean about the curry, I can't wait!!!

Initio · 03/02/2010 17:02

Ha, fiziwizzle, best of luck with your driving test! Hope they don't charge you if you need to rebook. Apart from the test, are you good to go do you think - in terms of bag packed and nesting etc?

Clappedout, Otta is such a cool name, congratulations!

Initio · 03/02/2010 17:04

I'm sorry, Otto. Having a row with BT on the phone and not concentrating, I'm sorry.

hannahsaunt · 03/02/2010 17:32

Shiregirl - so holding out for that burst of energy! Has passed me by to date so fingers crossed for a wee spurt before the birth. Dead on my feet today but have organised a manicure & pedicure for tomorrow so will be up and out; maybe fresh air and exercise is what I need.

galadriel77 · 03/02/2010 18:03

scoobyd00 - can you add me to the list - I was due yesterday on the 2nd Feb.

So - I'm 1 day overdue and was actually fine about it this morning but I am so sick of people calling and asking or sending texts that I am now ignoring them all. It doesn't seem to matter how many times I tell them that DD1 was 4 days over and DD2 3 days overdue.

And my husband is being an unusual idiot. He decided not to schedule many meetings etc workwise for this week - he works from home a lot - so yesterday and today he's been hanging around getting on my tits. But he's just informed me that from Sunday evening he is booked for a week of business meetings in Exeter - 2.5 hours away - requiring overnight stays ALL week. Is he stupid??? You would think that by the 3rd child he would realise that I can't deliver to order I'm afraid!! He ahs said that if I haven't had the baby yet then obviously he won't go but even if I had the baby it is pretty shit if he disappears for a week - at least my mum would be here.

Anyway - can you tell I'm getting grumpy?? . My mum has been here a week and much as I love her she is getting on my nerves. It's the lack of privacy that does it for me - it feels as if she is watching me constantly and won't let me do anything - even make a cup of tea. I'm going to KILL her!

I feel a bit rubbish almost as if I'm getting a bladder infection. Midwife said my wee is clear so it's not that - I'm just very sore. It's probably stuff kicking off down there but I'd quite like to get on with it now and get this baby born before the end of the week!!

So far - no shows, no twinges, no nothing. Apart from the odd hour or so when BH seem stronger - that's it.

Bored now. Fed up of weeing. Fed up of being uncomfortable at night. Fed up of the lot. Sweep booked for 41 weeks so next Tuesday if nothing has happened.

AbsB · 03/02/2010 18:26

Good rant Galadriel! You sound fed up! I can't imagine having anyone to stay for a week, even my mum... and yes it does sound like your husband's also got pregnancy brain, poor luv. I hope you feel better and that your baby shows up very soon!!! Cheer up!

bethylou · 03/02/2010 20:52

Congrats Clappedout - must have been a very scary time for you - make sure you talk about it lots with those close to you (and obviously us, if you feel so inclined).

Today the baby has barely moved again but I didn't really feel I could go back for more monitoring after it went mad on the monitor the other day - they'd think I was mad. I'm keen to get things moving now so that I can have my mind put at rest that the baby is okay.

Had an argument with the joiner today who has finally finished our built-in cupboard to our specifications, rather than his own (so jobs list is pretty much finished ). He picked on the wrong woman and I even got an apology!

Looking forward to the next set of announcements (and guessing GuernseyFrench has finally been kept in today as no post).

FluffyCoo · 03/02/2010 21:47

Welcome Initio nice to have you on board!

at Fizi with the driving test on Monday - that's bonkers, love it! Surely your examiner will be too scared to make you do an emergency stop in case you are jolted into labour?! Good luck cherub!

Know what you mean about the foot and ankle swelling ladies - looks like i've been given a foot transplant from a cabbage patch doll... sigh... Anyone found anything that eases it apart from the old chestnut of putting your feet up? (torn between elevating feet for swelling and sitting forward for baby positioning emoticon)

Galadriel I totally sympathise, the behaviour of our menfolk is just so ridiculously inappropriate at times... good job we're not spiders/praying mantises or we'd have ripped their heads off by now!! They don't know how lucky they are!

stoofadoof · 03/02/2010 21:53

Clappedout congratulations on the safe arrival of Otto! glad to hear you're home and doing well...

welcome initio

and Galadriel i'm two weeks (in to 12!!!) of my ma being here.... aaargh... love her to bits, but aaargh!!

DH off work today so he, Ma and DD have headed out for the day - i'm excused cos i've got to go to the dentist... really, REALLY hope he can put me out of my misery! feel like i can't hear out of one ear now.... grump

galadriel77 · 03/02/2010 22:12

It's so tough with your mum around. What would be lovely is if she lived down the road and came all day to help and then went home in the evening so H and I could have some peace!!

Her help is invaluable already so I feel so ungrateful by ranting. She's helped me cook a load of cottage pie and bolognese for the freezer, folded endless washing, ironed H's shirts and generally kept DD1 and DD2 (4yrs and 2.5yrs) off my back. She really is helping out. But I want to be able to sit and relax without her talking at me constantly, and have a snuggle with H whenever I want, or get up and clean without her telling me to sit down. I feel as if she is watching me like a hawk as if she expects me to give birth on the sofa!! Every now and then I bend double and hiss and watch her hit the ceiling - then I just moan that the baby is on my bladder. It's really mean but I can't help winding her up!!

Just had an hour of strong braxton hicks coming every 10-15 mins so was keeping an eye on them - without mum noticing of course but they seem to have died down now. Never mind. I feel better for a rant on here though!

stoofadoof · 04/02/2010 00:36

oh galdriel hehe... am SO glad it's not just me!! DD is loving having her about, and she's been busy baking, and washing etc too!

am just back from the dentist - think i've fallen in love... he was ace, and has done a root canal with me barely noticing! got to go and get it finished in a few weeks, but hopefully shouldn't have any more pain! hurrah!! right childbirth - BRING IT ON! (well, maybe let me get a decent nights kip first!)

was in dentist chair for 1.5 hours! LO was fine - bout of hiccups part way through, then really seemed to object to the slow drill - you know, the one that feels like it's vibrating your jaw - felt like he was trying to get out sideways for a while! I know i'm still waiting for the anasthetic to wear off, but i feel like different woman already!!

threeplusone · 04/02/2010 07:41

Congratulations Claapedout on the birth of Otto..
Welcome to the newbies..

Galadriel and stoofadoof, I am with you but it is my FIL who is still here.. dont get me wrong he is being a real help but on a night when I want to do a bit of nipple tweaking.. or trying to get DH upstairs..(or downstairs!!) for sex.. just isnt happening as his room is next to ours so we have to wait for him to go to bed and sleep before we can do anything! But i musnt whinge too much as he only came over to help me out with the children.. he takes DS2 to creche for me and looks after him whilst I am at the docs/Mw or Hospital. He is here till the 19th Feb, MIL comes on the 10th feb till the 19th. And my mumm phoned to say herself her twosisters and 4year old neice are all coming on the 18th feb-21st. Just hope little man has made an appearance so they all get to see him... Told them though cant do orders.

Galadriel (think it was you if not sorry) your DH certainley isnt thinking hope he has changed his plans,

Fizi good luck with the driving test on monday you are one brave lady.

Had a few contractions last night. TBH had a few this morning.. nothing to bad just enough to make me think Ooooo thats one.. maybe he is moving down some more..

Only had 3hours sleep last night so off to bed in abit to catch up.. DS2 decided to wake up as we went to bed and that was him till 3.45am.. but as DH was at work and FIL had said he would take him to creche and wait for him thought it was only fair that I went without the sleep.. and with the little contractions I was getting wouldnt have slept much anyway. Have told DH to keep his phone on today..
When everyone asks DH how I am getting on he says " she is fine but she is TOO TIGHT to give me my Son" Still got 10days togo.

Have a good day everyone.. sending lots of labour vibes to those who want it and lots of goods luck and best wishes to everyone. xxx

flyingcloud · 04/02/2010 09:04

welcome initio galadriel I think I could have written your post! My mum is off today, as nothing is happened and then she we will wait and come back in two weeks. She is great, and trying really hard, but I feel a bit guilty now on DH that she is here because we really don't have any time to ourselves and it's constant chatter and questions. DH does a very good job of hiding it but every now and again I see an exasperated look cross his face!

Although in saying that she has been bringing me breakfast in bed every morning - so I am really not very nice to complain!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 04/02/2010 09:13

Good luck with the driving test, fizi! I remember I passed my test and lost my virginity in the same week - what a week that was! Can you top it by getting your licence and giving birth in the same week??!!

Glad to hear the toothache agony is sorted, stoofa, at least you can concentrate on one source of pain at a time now (!)

Welcome to the February bump and baby club, Initio

My LO takes AGES to feed because her suck is so gentle - hence the MNing at the same time! One handed typing is a bit laborious, mind! The best thing is nursing her in the wrap sling (oh god, that is SUCH a sanity saving device!!) with two hands free to sterilise bottles, make myself a cuppa etc. etc. now that really IS multitasking!!

bethylou · 04/02/2010 09:40

Very funny about the driving test - sure the man (I assume it will be a man? How sexist of me!) willpanic when he sees you and pass you in record quick time Fizi!
Galadriel-just lock your husband in and say he can't go under any of the current circumstances. My DH is even doubting a night out he's planned with some mates next week (and I'm not even due till 17th!!) Keep an eye on the bladder thing - as an expert (unfortunately) in UTIs, yo can still have an infection without it showing up the MW's stick things (very technical description). She did mine last week, said it was fine but had to send it off anyway (as I don't get symptoms) and I have got an infection (for the fourth time this pregnancy). You'd need a clean pot to send off (rather than washing out an old one - which I find a bit bizarre really).
Off tor relax with some friends and to check that baby is moving. Have a good day one and all.

watercress · 04/02/2010 09:59

Hello all.

Stoof, glad your toothache has resolved. Fizi can't believe you are doing your driving test at a time like this!

After a GP appt yesterday, I am going to see a consultant at the foetal monitoring unit tomorrow and if all is well I will be booked in for induction asap. Bu I'll believe it when it happens!

Galadriel, I feel your pain on the DH front. My DH went into a massive panic yesterday at the prospect of early induction, saying that he didn't know how he'd manage his work. He's been so preoccupied with his job (very high pressure and he doesn't like it at all) since November now, and I've been (IMHO) very supportive, so thought maybe I could seek out a bit of emotional support and reassurance from him last night. His response to me saying "I'm scared at the thought of another induction"? "Never mind". I kid you not.

Men.

stressheaderic · 04/02/2010 11:20

Fizi - good luck with the driving test. My mum passed her test at 8 1/2 months pregnant in a Mini!
Good job, as my brother came early, my dad was working away and she had to drive herself to hospital in the end!

flyingcloud · 04/02/2010 11:36

fizi good luck! Hope labour holds off until after the test - and hope you pass, as stresshead says you may need to drive yourself to the hospital.

IC you sound so capable and make it all seem to simple

stoof hope the tooth ache holds off.

watercress poor you on the DH front, they just don't get the physical and emotional support that we need sometimes.
