Hi everyone. I have just had a quick read of everything I missed on here yesterday, so congratulations to ktpie, and good luck today to GuernseyFrench.
I had my scan yesterday. For some reason I thought my placenta had been low lying, but it turns out I was in for them to check an anterior placenta. The good news is that it has since moved, so that is one obstacle to a VBAC out of the way. Baby has been lying in some crazy positions for the last while, but he managed to get himself into a decent head down position for the scan. I don't know if he is going to stay that way though. He is still pretty wriggly and I often get the crazy shaped bump with the huge hollow in the middle. I think this is when he is lying sideways. I see the consultant on Friday, but I will probably be none the wiser. I am guessing she will say, just wait and see..... oh and there is no doubt that it's definitely a boy.
While I was at the hospital, I went along to get a new plaster. The old one was feeling loose and like it was hanging off the top of my ankle and rubbing on the surgery wounds. The new one feels much better. I guess the swelling has maybe gone down a bit, and the muscle wastage will have made my leg a bit thinner too. Naturally, obstetrics and ortho are at completely different ends of the hospital, so I had to experience a hair raising wheelchair ride courtesy of DH.
I also had a physio appointment and he gave me some exercises to do, just to try to keep the strength up in my thigh and to check I was using my crutches ok. They run a self referral drop in clinic there, and I wasn't there as early as I had wanted because of the snow (we got about an inch and a half overnight) and the receptionist said that he already had his quota of patients for the day, and come back tomorrow. I must have looked like I was going to burst into tears, and I said but I am heavily pregnant with a broken ankle, I can't come in here every morning on the off chance that I might get an appointment. So, all of a sudden, she found an appointment for me.
I have made up my own exercises to do in the event of having a c section and a plaster cast. Lie on bed, curl up into a tiny ball, pull the duvet over head and hope it all goes away. Repeat as often as neccessary.
I have quite a quiet day today, only one trip out to the library if the ice has melted. I will also prepare the tea and do a load of washing and clean up the kitchen a bit. I am able to get around with one crutch now (until evening time when I am tired) so having one hand free makes it far easier to get on with stuff. Tempting as it is to sit on the sofa all day, I think just getting on with it is probably the way to go.
