...now the "Crazy Baby Ladies"!

Had the idea to start this thread because, after getting my BFP on Monday, it suddenly dawned on me that I was going to lose contact with a lot of lovely people. I feel sad every time anyone leaves (though obviously happy for you that you've got your BFP) and thought this might be a nice idea, so that we can continue to keep in touch. After all, we've been through a lot together, haven't we?!

Also, I felt a bit out of my depth on the other threads, where it seemed like most of the members had already had children. There didn't seem to be a "first-timers" thread on here. (Unless I missed it!)

So here goes!

Hermya321 · 06/04/2010 15:14

It's less than twenty four hours until my scan, very excited and slightly nervous. I woke up this morning to what I think is LO moving about in there. It feels like bubble popping low down in my pelvis. I've had it a few times now, mostly in the morning though.

I've also stopped getting up three times a night to pee. For the past two nights, I've slept right through (gosh I sound like a six month old kid) which has been nice.

I also got my foundation as well today, yippee!! I didn't wear my normal glamour mask as I wanted to get the colour right. The clinique lady wasn't there at first so I hung around the store for about 15 minutes. Seriously I was followed around the whole time, yeah apparently I look like a shop lifter. I wouldn't have minded but apart from the make up counters, the store I went in caters mainly to the older generation. What the hell would I want with a pair of bloomers and a granny coat. All the shop assistants bare the two nice ones who I sort of know now looked at me like I was about to start stuffing items of clothing up my jumper. I mean they work in a store that sells bloomers, so I didn't really see the reason for the snobbiness.

On the other hand, who on earth would I sell a pair of nicked bloomers to. LOL!!!

Siprael Yay! Gadget is a separate entity, thats fab news. I expect piccys of your nursery. I would love to decorate a nursery. I remember my Mum decorating my little brothers, we couldn't fit the chest of drawers in properly so for some reason we ended up screwing them into the wall so that they kind of hovered. Unorthodix but they stayed there for years, my Mum was very handy with a drill.

mumnerves · 06/04/2010 21:37

siprael So envious that you are talented enough to decorate your own nursery! I can't even draw a stickman! I wish I could decorate the baby's nursery!

Hermya will be thinking of you tomorrow

Just to let you ladies know that spanishlady got her BFP

Hermya321 · 07/04/2010 12:05

Well just got back from my scan, baby seemed to be fine. It was kicking about and waving it's little arms and legs and according to the midwife was 'an active little thing'. Dh came with me and was suitably impressed. I saw the midwife as well who took a bucket full of blood from me and gave me a raff of information to be getting on with.

I've got an appointment to have the triple blood test in a couple of weeks as well. I wasn't so sure if I should have it, but I figured I might as well just in case.

I'll try and put up a picture later.

Hope everybody is well!!

SL Congratulations!!

chancewouldbeafinething · 07/04/2010 12:08

Congratulations to Spanishlady hermya good luck with the scan, let us know how it goes Funny story about the bloomers...but good news on the make up!

I have another dream for you - Has anyone read 'what to expect when you're expecting'? well if you do dont read the chapter at the end that talks about the complications - I have been having dreams for about a week now that involve me going to the loo and realising that the umbilical cord is hanging outside of me...now in the book it says get on all fours with your bum in the air and call 999, so in my dream i was in the loo at work on all fours and of course everyone kept walking in and saying what are you doing...I was there for hours...it was weird!

Spirael all the things i have to look forward to...I was a bit upset at first just because I will probably be the only one who can feel the baby, but i guess once it is big enough DH will be able to feel it moving (cant quite get my head around how big i will actually be)
Sounds like gadget is very active in there, hopefully enjoying it so much it will want to stay there for the full 16 weeks.

I am overseeing a refurbishment in my hotel, and i very cleverly did not think about how the stench of paint for 8 hours a day would make me feel....about 50% of the floor my office is on is being painted. So I have escaped to a bedroom to work today, although I am doing a fair amount of staring out the window at the Thames at the moment

hope everyone is having a good week, and good wishes to Aly, hope you are back with good news soon

chancewouldbeafinething · 07/04/2010 12:09

cross posts there - great news Hermya

fudgecat · 07/04/2010 13:19

Congrats to spanishlady and mumsnerves

spirael congrats to you and little Gadget for passing the 24 week mark. I haven?t even given decorating a thought yet you should do some before and after pics for your profile

hermya glad to hear the scan went ok, did you have the nuchal fold measured? My scan is a week on Friday and im having the combined nuchal scan (at least thats what I think im having )

chance that was quite a scary dream about the cord I had a dream that I won the lottery the other night ? wishful thinking

Fingers crossed everything is ok with aly

I had my booking in appointment this morning, what a lot of questions! I kept getting confused and going ummm errrr

Hermya321 · 07/04/2010 14:29

fudge No I didn't, my NHS trust are cheap and won't do it. I did ask, but they said I would be low risk anyway. I'm having the tripple test in four weeks, but when I spoke to the midwife she didn't seem to be that impressed with the accuracy of the results from that. So who knows, I might get more accurate results if I did it myself.

WorrisomeHeart · 07/04/2010 18:59

Fantastic news re the scan Hermya! Looking forward to seeing the pic!

Spireal brill news about the 'viability' of Gadget!

Congrats to Spanishlady! fudgecat I know exactly what you mean about the booking in - they really shouldnt put us baby-brain-befuddled gals through it!!

chance hope the smell wears off soon!

Am knackered and nauseous again today - Mr Teeny was obviously lulling me into a false sense of security with the nausea-free days! Very much looking forward to the weekend when I can sleeeeeeeepppppp!

Hope you are all having a good week.

WorrisomeHeart · 07/04/2010 19:00

God just realised how many exclamation marks were in my post... it looks like tweenager wrote it...

chancewouldbeafinething · 08/04/2010 10:56

hermya my NHS trust are cheap too, I was actually having a dilemma whether to have the test at all. Because even if the results are high, would I have a amnio and risk a miscarriage...i am not sure. But we decided at least you could be more prepared that it was a possibility. So I am also doing the blood test but not until 4/5.

fudge I think i'd prefer your dream too

worrisome hope you are feeling better, at least it is only a short week this week. I am already looking forward to the May bank holidays though

SO today I have paint and glue smells (laying carpet underlay), i have retreated upstairs again...I could get used to this

I went to ante natal yoga last night! it was ace loads of preggas women, bumps of all sizes, and everyone stays for tea (herbal of course) and cake afterwards. Only problem is it starts at 6pm, and unless i leave work early i wont make it in time, so i am going to aim to go every other week.

Hope everyone gets to enjoy the sunshine today!

bunnygirl80 · 09/04/2010 05:35

chance hope the renovation gets finished quickly so you can avoid the horrid paint smells Glad you enjoyed the yoga- I can't wait to get started on it but my local class won't let you join until you're 12 weeks.....only 4 more weeks to wait then!

hermya I'm glad your scan went well. And lol at you being considered to be a potential bloomer thief!

worrisome I'm imagining Mr Teeny spending his days plotting the best way to lull you into a false sense of secuirity and then deciding which symptoms to bring back with a vengeance

Not much to report from me. Still feeling sick all the time, but still no actual vomiting. I'm now holding my jeans together with a hair band as they all dig in too much when they're properly done up. I was feeling so bloated when Iwent to bed last night that I undid the ties that hold my pj bottoms up, but when I got up this morning the bloating had all gone and they fell straight down and I nearly tripped over them

fulhamgirl · 09/04/2010 09:44

Heya guys got some big news! My waters broke Monday night! They stopped my labour still in hospital and having contractions! Baby could come ay anytime now but will be induced on 30th April so my edd has changes!
I'm not going to tell u what the pain feels like lol! Still in hospital x xx

bunnygirl80 · 09/04/2010 09:49

Oh no fulham I hope you and baby Lily are OK.

On the bright side - you will have the first Frolicker baby!

Good luck

chancewouldbeafinething · 09/04/2010 10:47

Fulham WOW!!! Hope you are doing ok and resting, that little Lily just cant wait to get out and meet you. Take it easy, I hope they can get you to keep her for a little bit longer.... and that they are giving you pain relief. Good luck xx

Bunny did you try the sea bands, i found they did help quite a bit. But you are doing well not to have any actual vomits! Although i am guessing (from my experience) that your DH would give you more sympathy if you were actually sick rather than saying you felt sick. Have a good rest on the weekend, and go shopping for some new jeans

Was our wedding anniversary yesterday, DH took me out for dinner at my fav restaurant. it was a vertible mine field trying to pick something to eat (chefs do not seem to plan a menu based on pregnant women), but was a really lovely night.
I think Spring has finally arrived in London (about time the temp stayed in double figures)

Hope all having a good day

Spirael · 09/04/2010 10:47

Oooh, does sound like we'll be getting the first frolicker baby soon, doesn't it?

Hope everything goes well, fulhamgirl! I believe you're far enough along now that baby Lily should be just fine, even if she does come into the world a little earlier than anticipated. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Did you have your hospital bag and such packed already? I was starting to think I should probably get mine sorted soon. Given how early things can kick off, I'm now thinking that getting packed soon is definitely a good idea.

Hermya321 · 09/04/2010 18:51

Fulham Wow, I hope you're doing ok. Gosh you might get to meet Lily sooner than you thought.

Bunny I'm sorry you're still feeling sicky, I tried most things and they didn't seem to shift it. I just ate when I could, little and often worked for me. Try different things and see whats best for you.

As for me, I think I told you a few weeks ago that I was having trouble with anxiety and feeling quite low. Well it didn't really go away and so after a week of not really coping. I trotted off to the Docs who had referred me for some councelling and told me to take some time off. I feel very relieved to finally be getting somewhere with this. On the plus side he told me that I wasn't psychotic. Theres always a silver lining isn't there.

fudgecat · 09/04/2010 20:30

chance how much longer is the decorating going to go on for? The glue they use to stick carpet tiles down with is horrid, we had some in one of the offices in my building and it was like something had died in there!
Happy anniversary for yesterday

bunny sorry you are feeling sick why not try some of your Turkish toast? DP tried some and said it was very yummy

fulham wow that is big news indeed. How are you feeling? Are they looking after you ok? keep us posted

hermya sorry to hear you haven?t been feeling great but its good that you have been to the GP and that things are getting sorted. I have had anxiety problems on and off for years so I can understand how horrid it can be.

Has anyone heard anything from aly? I?m starting to feel a bit worried about her now

Not much news from me, have been getting quite painful tummy cramps this week but I guess that just thing stretching? Oh and I had my first ?baby dream? ? it was a baby girl and we had to pick her up from the local Travelodge type hotel she was very very heavy to pick up and then poo can out the side of the nappy

fulhamgirl · 09/04/2010 22:50

Lily ann furze born 9/4/2010 at 4lb she is perfect x x x

Hermya321 · 09/04/2010 22:54

Fudge How weird, my DH had a dream where he had to go pick up out LO which happened to be a girl as well. I've been having the tummy cramps the past few days as well. I'm approaching the twelve week mark and apparently at this point the uterus starts to raise up so to speak and starts the squishing process of all my major organs. This could explain why I couldn't physically eat all of my tea.

I think Aly was going to keep quiet until she knew what was happening. We haven't heard from Drewsgirl in a while either. I hope they're both ok.

bunnygirl80 · 10/04/2010 00:20

Congratulations fulham. 4lb sounds like a good wait for an early baby. Hope Lily's doing well and she can come home with you soon

chance Happy wedding anniversary. I know what you mean about restaurants not catering for pg women.

I haven't tried the seabands yet - I can't have anything on my wrists at work so don't know how much use I'd actually get out of them. I reckon I am lucky not to have actaully been sick yet, and DH is still giving me lots of sympathy. I think part of my problem is that I still try and eat regualr sized meals rather than smaller portions more often.

Hermya I'm glad your doctor's getting you sorted. You've got alot going on in your life right now, so having someone to talk to about it all should be helpful.

fudge just think in a few months poo coming out of a nappy will be a big part of our daily lives And I reckon it would be much easier just picking our LOs up from a hotel rather than having to squeeze them out of a small hole

I finally plucked up the courage to tell my mum I'm pg last night - I'd been worried about how she'd react for a while. The good news is that she was really pleased for us and very excited so it looks like I had nothing to worry about after all

aly323 · 10/04/2010 02:54

Thanks for worrying about me ladies. I have no real news yet. My diabetes is a little out of control, so I have to have a visit with a team of people Monday to decide what to do about that- it seems I could be on insulin soon. The diet they put me on is really, really strict, but it isn't keeping my sugars low enough. It isn't fun, but is necessary. Even if things don't work out with this pregnancy, I guess it's good that I learned about this. I had no idea this would be a problem for me, especially since I'm pretty active and healthy and have a BMI of about 21. I asked if I could have already been a diabetic and not know it, but everyone seems to agree that it's my hormones causing this.

The hardest thing for me right now is that the diabetes serve as a constant reminder that my baby is at risk. My HCG levels never improved much, so there is only about a 15% chance that this baby will make it. I'm definitely an emotional wreck. I fluctuate between hoping and grieving. Unfortunately, the grieving seems to win out since I'm scared to allow myself too much hope.

I stopped monitoring my levels for awhile, but will check them again at the end of next week. I have a scan on the 19th and feel that it'll help to know the levels beforehand. Assuming nothing happens before then, the 19th will be a very telling day.

Although I'm not posting, I am lurking. I'll be keeping an eye out for Fulham updates(so exciting!!!) and want to say congrats to Spanishlady, Mumsnerves, and Lucky!! This is a nice place to be... I hope I get to stay.

Ok, back into hiding...

Hermya321 · 10/04/2010 09:02

Aly I hope they get you sorted soon, I'm sorry that you've had such a time of it. I'll be thinking of you and I hope the ninteeth is a good day rather than a bad day for you. I hope you've got lots of support around you, but you're always welcome here no matter what.

fudgecat · 10/04/2010 09:28

welcome to the big wide world Lily you are a very special baby indeed! Give your mum a huge hug from me
