...now the "Crazy Baby Ladies"!

Had the idea to start this thread because, after getting my BFP on Monday, it suddenly dawned on me that I was going to lose contact with a lot of lovely people. I feel sad every time anyone leaves (though obviously happy for you that you've got your BFP) and thought this might be a nice idea, so that we can continue to keep in touch. After all, we've been through a lot together, haven't we?!

Also, I felt a bit out of my depth on the other threads, where it seemed like most of the members had already had children. There didn't seem to be a "first-timers" thread on here. (Unless I missed it!)

So here goes!

My EDD is 8th Dec.

Sorry but I'm still a little overwhelmed by it all, will try and catch up with all your news soon after easter weekend. Going to see DH's sick auntie this weekend Glad I'm not going to the lakes though as it's pissing down with rain there and the lakes are flooding.

So sorry to hear so many of you are feeling nauseous. When did it start, a few weeks after your BFP?

Welcome Mumnerves here you go(pushes out beanbag and hands out cuppa) and here have a biccy . I'm sorry about your Auntie, I hope she feels better soon. My nausea started around week 5/6ish and is starting to sort of tale off now a bit. I think it's a very indivdual thing, some people don't get it at all some get it really really badly. All I can say is if you do get it, just go easy with yourself and try and rest up as much as you can. Try ginger, sea bands etc to see if they work for you (they didn't with me) and don't beat yourself up if you need to take time off of work. Eat what you fancy and just try and go with the flow so to speak, this is what seems to have worked for me.

Chance That is a very odd dream, naked kids and beehives. You haven't been watching 'My Girl' have you? It's the Clinique Anti Blemish stuff, they've brought out a foundation in it and I'm hoping that it will help with the dot to dot puzzle on my face. I've had problem skin for years and I tried the Clinique stuff before I got married and it worked a treat! I do sometimes dabble with Clarins, but I do eventually go back to Clinique as it seems to do the trick. I didn't manage to get it today as the Lady said it wasn't available until next week. I got a Benefit Playstick to tied me over as thats got spot fighting stuff in it as well. It did take me a long time to find out what suited my skin. I've got oily skin which is over sensitive at the best of times, so now I've found my brands I tend to stick with it. If I can I'll try and see if I can find it cheap on ebay, most of the time I manage but if not (due to being as pale as a white wash wall) I'll just get it in the shops. Good news about the scan and I'm glad work has eased up for you as well. Don't worry, my LO has been a he since the begining. I am hoping it's a boy, otherwise I'll have to change my terminology.

pixiestix · 01/04/2010 23:19

Well done Mumnerves !! And welcome! My sickness started bang on time at 6+0 and then ramped up into a whole other universe at 13+0 just when I was told that it would start fading!

Aly - Glad that your spotting has stopped. I'm another one who had a bit of it at the beginning - it seems on this thread that nearly everyone has experienced it at some point. I'm not surprised about them telling you that 36 is an "advanced mature age". When my mum went in to have my sister at the age of [gasp] 29, the midwife told her "We may have to do some additional tests on you, as you are a mature mother". WTF is that about???

Hermya - I am ROFL at your depressed goldfish, sorry!

You must be feeling better Roses - no posts for ages and then about a dozen in one day! Its good to hear you back on form - although its awful when just feeling really queasy and not actually throwing up is something to be celebrated! I am a little better too. Well, by that I mean that I haven't been sick since Tuesday morning. I am hoping that this is the start of better times!
I feel quite freaked out that colostrum starts being produced at 16 weeks. I am 14+6 today, and was expecting to "own" my boobs for a little while longer! I'm not sure I like the thought of drippy boobs just yet. Thats awful isnt it? I should be over the moon at this new stage of impending motherhood I don't think I'll tell DH about it for a while!
Weird that you said about Lucozade too - I never ever drink the stuff, but when I was feeling sick at the weekend I bought a big bottle and drank the whole thing, and managed to keep it down too. Strange what is good for you in this state!

Yorkshire - glad your appointment went well. I know what you mean about electronic records. I was quite ill as a teenager with an eating disorder. I mentioned it too my doctor, as I don't want pregnancy to trigger it again and he said "Oh, I'll add that to your file - we have no record of it as we only have information from 2000. Thats when we moved from paper to computers". I was that they had just started from scratch and not moved everything over.

Chance - Awwwww that is so sweet that your DH is taking an interest in breast pads! My DH would look like this - if I mentioned anything of the sort - and he already has two children!
That is the coolest due date!! If you give birth at 10.10am you'll be in all the papers!!
Ouch at feeling like there is glass in your boobs though

I've had a good day today. Not been sick at all. And suddenly I have an urge to start buying things for the baby! It must be all this talk of cots. I'm trying to hold off until the 20 week scan, when I knew that I will go mad, but it has been two and half months since I got my BFP and I really feel like I should be entitled to buy some bits and pieces now! Mad broody feelings are so much nicer when you are actually up the duff, aren't they?

bunnygirl80 · 02/04/2010 00:04

chance you have the best due date I really wanted a 10/10/10 EDD but my cycles just didn't work out that way. I'm now hoping I'll pop a week early and get a 12/11/10 baby!!

I'm glad your scan went well. We keep referring to LO as him as well - don't know why as I really want a girl!

Yorkshire that sounds like a nice booking in appointment. It does seems strange that the NHS is so behind the times with computers, but I have a feeling you'll be a granny before the electronic patient record happens

mumnerves I hope it doesn't take too long for the shock of the BFP to wear off. And I hope that DH's aunt enjoys your visit as much as she can.

pixie I'm glad you're feeling less sick. I am finding myself strangely drawn to the window of any shop selling baby things. And I keep eyeing up people's pushchairs as they walk down the street - I saw one yesterday that should have had 4 wheels but one had fallen off so they were trying to push it along on only 3 Still way to early for me to buy anything though.

Can I join the strange dreams club please? I've been having quite vivid but generally mundane dreams all week. But last night I dreamt that I was put in charge of building a new bridge, with shops and hotels on it as well as pavements and a road. While it was being built I was on it alone at night and I was chased all over it by a guy I went to school with, who had turned out to be a crazy axe murderer (he's not crazy in RL btw, he's an accountant!). I managed to escape, but noone would believe me and he was still hiding on the bridge after it opened waiting for victims

I'm feeling much less sick again now - for the past few days when I felt really ill I was also really constipated and bloated. TMI but the constipation is now resolved and since then I've felt much better. I'm now wondering if it wasn't ms at all, but just a congested digestive system

aly323 · 02/04/2010 00:10

Hello everyone. I'm just going to post the same note on each of the threads, but things are looking shaky for me. I'm probably going to go into hiding for a bit until I know either way. Please send me all the good energy you can.

bunnygirl80 · 02/04/2010 00:22

aly I really hope everything turns out OK for you. I am sending you and your bean many many sticky thoughts.

pixiestix · 02/04/2010 00:26

Oh Aly, I am sending you a massive massive > and lots of sticky bean vibes. xxx

Pidgin · 02/04/2010 07:30

thinking of you aly, hope you're OK.

Hermya321 · 02/04/2010 09:36

Oh Aly, sending you sticky bean vibes!! Hope you're ok.

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 02/04/2010 11:45

Oh Aly so sorry too hear that things are looking bad. Really hoping and praying that everything stays put and your little bean hangs on. Take care of yourself. xx

chancewouldbeafinething · 02/04/2010 12:49

Aly wishing you lots of sticky sticky thoughts. Hope you can rest and take care of yourself over Easter

chancewouldbeafinething · 02/04/2010 13:05

Hermya I know it is weird, and no i wasnt watching my girl, if i had it would have explained at least something...cant remember the one i had last night, but when i woke up i can remember thinking, how strange.
Bad luck about the make up, but i guess you get to buy 2 now I am trying a bobbi brown one now, i dont have spots so much a blotches of red, charming isnt it? I wonder how much Danni's make up people charge per day?

Bunny Have you seen this guy lately? I a guessing not since you are in Oz, that is a weird one.

pixie I know what you mean about the boobs being your own for a little while longer...since i read white's post i have been dreading looking down in the shower Well done for not being sick in days, fingers crossed thats it for you now

I know isnt 10/10/10 so cool? my niece was born on 9/9/99! i think the chances of it happening though are pretty slim...but i am still crossing my fingers

Lots of good vibes for Aly xx

NovemberAli · 02/04/2010 21:20

Just wanted to send positive vibes out to Aly, really hoping things work out for you.

Hermya321 · 03/04/2010 09:56

I've been having the occasional fluttery wriggly sensation down in my tummy the last few days. I can't quite decide if I'm feeling the LO or just my intestines processing stuff.

A couple of stressful days as well, we're starting to struggle a bit financially and work is getting a bit stressful as well. My role isn't really defined at the moment and there are things that I can't do due to health and safety. Thing is, no one really knows what I can do which causes me to flounder a bit when someone says 'can you do such and such?' Very annoying and confusing. It makes me wish I could start my maternity leave now.

Pixie I'm glad my depressed fish brought you some amusment .

Bunny I've been eying up baby things for weeks now, I can't wait until I get some funds and the all clear, it's going to be so much fun. Did people start crossing the bridge in the end?

Chance That is a very cool due date!! I want it! I don't think our dreams lend themselves to any sort of logical explanation, sometimes though it would be nice if they did.

Aly I hope you're doing ok.

Ariesgirl · 03/04/2010 10:29

Hello Graduates. Hope you're all doing well. Don't get too excited - I've no right to be here but wanted to ask a question. Who amongst you had a negative test result and you then went on to be positive? I've just peed on a stick this morning and the negative appeared very quickly but I'm now a day late and there's no sign of AF when usually I'd be spotting by now. And you may have seen that monstrous hangover after a pathetically paltry amount of wine the other night if you've been lurking on the Frolicker thread. So am just wondering! Cheers luvvers.

luckyseven · 03/04/2010 14:01

Hello, just popping over to see what it is like on the other side of the first time frolickers fence!

Please could you add me to your future grads - luckyseven? Expecting AF (or hopefully not from Thursday)

Congratulations on your BFPs and Happy

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/04/2010 15:12

Hi all just dropping by to say Im still going strong at 25 weeks now!

We bought the travel system yesterday from babies r us and put it all together, also DP picked up the cot from his sister earlier today and we've cleaned it up and DP will be putting it together sometime this weekend.

Feeling LO kick and punch and squirm and all the rest of it every day. He seems to be a very happy chappy in there at the mo!

Hope everyone is well and will keep checking in with you all to let you know how things are.

Only 11 weeks (ish) til my next scan too!

Pidgin · 03/04/2010 18:26

Aries haven't had a -ve then a +ve but just to say have got my fingers quietly crossed for you.
How many DPO are you? & what test are you using? (because FR worked for me when Superdrug weren't showing anything).

Ariesgirl · 03/04/2010 18:46

Am on day 30 of a normal 28/29 day cycle. I usually get 24-48 hours of spotting before AF arrives but haven't had any. Boobs feel "stabby" whereas usually they ache. Did a Tesco's cheapie this morning with concentrated wee! Negative showed up really quickly. I suspect that it's not a very sensitive test though, but at same time don't "feel" at all pregnant (though wouldn't know, never having been pregnant!) Yesterday I had the hangover from hell after only 2 1/2 glasses of wine, including full on puking . Aaargh! Thing is I don't exactly know when or even if I ov-ed this month. I'm not charting or anything, but the previous month I had very clear signs. Anyway we S-edWI on day 9, 11 and 13 (too much info I suspect). Can't buy a FR or Clear Blue until Monday now anyway...

addie81 · 03/04/2010 21:24

Aries - I was still getting negatives with cheap tests a week after my positive with first response (now 13 wks pregnant). If in doubt, buy a clearblue or a first response. I am very sceptical about the cheap tests. Good luck.

bunnygirl80 · 04/04/2010 01:25

Aries I'd test again with a FR on Monday, that way you've given it a good 48hrs for hormone levels to increase. Good luck

luckyseven you're already on the list!!

chance I haven't seen the guy for about 2 years so I have no idea why he would suddenly pop up in my dreams!! How's your MIL doing? Hope she's recovering OK from her surgery

hermya I hope your finances get sorted soon. Has your DH found more work yet?

desperate I hope you're practising with the travel system - make sure you can work it all one handed

We went out for dinner with another couple and their 3 month old baby last night. I got totally busted within 10 seconds of turning down a glass of wine!!!!!! They saw straight through my "giving up wine for lent" excuse so we've sworn them to secrecy for now. It did mean that we spent the whole night talking babies with DH looking more and more terrified as the evening wore on

Hermya321 · 04/04/2010 10:48

Hoppy Easter everyone!! I hope you're all enjoying your chocolate! Mine will be eaten tomorrow as I have to spend the day at work today .

I'm watching Juno at the moment and the moment when she was shaking the pregnancy test made me laugh at the chemists comment 'it's not a etch a sketch you know'.

Bunny Nope he hasn't found work as of yet, but he's working on it. I did ROFL at your DH looking more and more terrified. Mine doesn't really do terrified, if anything he's making ever more and more complicated plans as to what he's going to do with our child once it is out of my tummy. I wonder if I can get a restraining order that comes into effect once LO is born.

Ariesgirl The internet cheapies were rubbish with me, the clearblue idiot proof digital ones worked for me. I'd recomend one of those or a first response with FMU.

Luckyseven Hi there!!! We have biscuits saved for you! You'll be here before you know it.

Ariesgirl · 04/04/2010 10:54

No need for ClearBlue, girls Knew it would be too good to be true. Makes me angrily baffled about why my body should taunt me so - three days late? Moi? Must be pregnant! Ha ha ha - don't be daft...Anyway, enjoy your Easter Sundays everyone.
