...now the "Crazy Baby Ladies"!

Had the idea to start this thread because, after getting my BFP on Monday, it suddenly dawned on me that I was going to lose contact with a lot of lovely people. I feel sad every time anyone leaves (though obviously happy for you that you've got your BFP) and thought this might be a nice idea, so that we can continue to keep in touch. After all, we've been through a lot together, haven't we?!

Also, I felt a bit out of my depth on the other threads, where it seemed like most of the members had already had children. There didn't seem to be a "first-timers" thread on here. (Unless I missed it!)

So here goes!

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 09/03/2010 22:20

That's lovely news Hermya, must be a relief to knows all's well and you definately have a fit little bean in there.

November that sounds like pretty unveiled blackmail to me. How's about you respond with "Yes it is entirely up to me and I'll be taking the 6/9/12 (whatever you were planning to take) months that I had planned to, and you'll be keeping my job open for me as you will find it hard to justify to the tribunal if you don't"?

Had a bot of a hectic day today. My best mate's waters broke early last night and she's currently in hospital trying not to leak anymore. They are hoping that she can get through to the weekend before starting labour, as baby is only 33 weeks and they'd like it to get a bit bigger.

I had to skive out of a meeting early and go to M&S to buy emergancy pants and nighties. She hadn't got as far as packing the hospital bag yet! Most of the baby stuff is on order and hasn't arrived yet and the nursery is not yet decorated. They have been caught a bit on the hop. Hopefully baby will be able to hang on safely for a few more days (a couple of weeks would be ideal). All this is successfully taking my mind off my cramps and tweaks.

pixiestix · 10/03/2010 11:39

Yorks - that must be so worrying for you and your friend But 33 weeks is apparently not a disaster of a time to deliver according to all the books I have been reading. The bean will be fully developed by now, just minus all the padding! If they can keep the LO in there for a few days more and get in some drugs to mature its lungs then even better.

Hermya - I'm so glad it all went well! As Ozzie says, once you see a heartbeat the chance of a MC plummets - hooray!

November That is completely illegal!! What the hell is she playing at?! I would get on the phone to the Citizens Advice Bureau if I were you and get armed with all the latest legislation, just so you can kick her ass if she mentions it again! What a cow!

Fudgecat - sorry to tell you this, but I had a scan at 6+1 and I had to endure the dildo! (And that is EXACTLY what it looks like!) It really wasnt too bad - I just gritted my teeth and repeated to myself "I am doing this for my baby, I would do anything for my baby, this is helping it, I am being a good mummy!" It seemed to work and the whole thing was over in a couple of minutes! Good luck!

Pidgin · 10/03/2010 12:43

That's great news about the scan Hermya, it must be thrilling to hear the heartbeat.

I am taking hope from your experience as I've had a bit of spotting the past day or so and mild cramps, so I went to the docs this morning and I have an early scan tomorrow. I was pleased they can fit me in so early. I'm hoping the spotting is nothing to worry about but it's been there on and off for a while now, so most of all I want to hear a heartbeat and put my mind at rest. I know it's very early days though as I'll only just by at 6 weeks tomorrow. So, fudge we could be undergoing the dildocam simultaneously! (I will have my fingers crossed for the external thingymabob though - I'm sure that's the technical term ...)

Yorkshire your busy day sounds pretty stressful, I hope all goes well for your friend.

November I was totally shocked too at those comments - absolutely unfair and borderline illegal!

Nice to hear your DH is being so lovely ozzie - mine's away at the moment and I can't wait for him to get back!

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/03/2010 17:29

pidgin hope everything goes well for you tomorrow, hopefully nothing to worry about and your little bean will be beating away in there!

I had my 22 week app today with the mw and it took an age to find his heartbeat cos he was wriggling around so much in there but she did eventually get it and it was so nice to hear. Everything else is fine too, im measuring good for my dates and my urine is sugar and protein free

Hermya321 · 10/03/2010 18:15

Evening all!! I'm so so tired, I do think pregnancy symptons come in cycles to be honest because thats how I seem to be getting them. I've so far had a week on/week off in relation to nausea and tiredness. Although this week I have the thrilling shooting pains in my boobs as well. It's a rollercoaster of fun. My DH has been beyond fab though, I feel myself getting quite sloppy with him at the moment. I'm blaming the hormones.

Desperate Awww bless your littel wriggly boy. I bet he was having a right giggle to himself in there.

Pidgin I know it sounds a bit TMI, but are you are your DH/DP BDing at the moment. You get a lot of extra blood to your cervix around this time which makes it extra sensitive and having sex can cause you to bleed.

Yorkshire Yeah it is, I can't wait till the next scan. Hows your friend doing?

Ozzie Your DH sounds a bit like mine, he keeps rubbing my tummy and smiling.

Fudge I had an external scan, I think if you're beyond sixish weeks they don't do the internal. It's very cool even if the reason you're there is a worrying one.

November Seriously thats tribunal material!!! Looks like I need to dust off my soapbox. I can't beleive how mean some work places are to Mums. It's terrible!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/03/2010 19:17

hermya yeah prob like "you cant catch me" haha aw bless, hes awake at the mo, kicking at my tummy, although it looks really low down so must be the way hes sitting lol.

chancewouldbeafinething · 10/03/2010 21:56

despo how lovely to hear the heartbeat, he is going to be an active one

yorkshire hope your friend can hang on, that must be pretty scary for them. You are good to be picking up things for her when you are meant to be working.

fudge hope all goes well tomorrow, fingers and toes crossed for you. TMI warning - Oh and i had both internal and external, they really do not go in very far at all, literally just in. Still that part was not very enjoyable, but seeing the heartbeat totally made up for it

hermya I know how you feel every week is different, its like what will it be next? hopefully it will start to even out soon.

novemeber dont let them bully you, i hate it when people think they can get away with this crap.

ozzie i cant wait until i have a proper bump!

I should have mentioned that they didnt follow me into the loo for a chat, they followed me asking me questions about work! I finally managed to keep something down at 5pm. My visitors were out last night, so i had a good rest.
I decided that i would stop taking the antibiotics, and i feel much better today. It is still coming over me in waves, smells are really setting me off. I ordered the bands roses mentioned, i should have them tomorrow. hopefully they work, i have got some really important meetings coming up over the next few weeks...oh well fingers crossed.

Hope everyone is feeling good xxxx

Ozziegirly · 10/03/2010 22:00

Pidgin hope that all goes ok tomorrow, good luck.

I am so uncomfortable today. I think I just have indigestion as it feels like I have had a massive meal, and feels so bloated and I keep getting on and off pains through my stomach and back, but they feel churny so I'm sure that's what it is.

It's only 8.30 am here and I have to endure a whole day at work as I don't feel like I can justify time off for this!

I need to go out at lunch and buy gaviscon I think, and also some maternity tights as my normal tights are digging in, even though I kind of have them rolled down below my bump.

Wish I was at home laying on the sofa!

Hermya321 · 11/03/2010 07:31

Fudge Good luck with your scan today!!!

fulhamgirl · 11/03/2010 08:17

Morning guys so sorry ive gotta keep this short as I dont know when my boss is arriving.

fudge-hope scan goes ok for you today hun.

her-So glad u could hear the heartbeat must of been amazing.

york-I hope your friend is ok thats only 4 weeks away from where I am very scary.

ozzie- I hope the indigestion gets better I kow alot people who suffered from that. Luckaliy im not one of them but im suffering in different ways lol. Awwww bump !!

nov-looks like we are kinda going through the same thing. Im sick of my work I cry every morning before I come in im so unhappy here. But im not going to let them win.

pid-good luck to you today as well. Will log on later to find out how u got on. Fingers crossed for u and fudge. Your little beans are fine though trust me !!

Sorry to the guys I havent been able to write to just so on edge at this place.

Nothing to report from me other than extreamly tired now and sick of work. They are going to make me work until April 19th because I gave in my MatB1 form to late. !! Never mind I just might have to go off sick as I am really struggling already.

xxxxxx

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/03/2010 08:50

chance yeah I def think Im going to have a very active baby, he was awake before I was this morning, I got woken up to more kicking of the tummy lol.

Can someone give me an idea of what I can do today, my friend has just cancelled our plans as she has a stomach bug, its a grey horrible day today and I really dont have much money to spend. I guess that means there isnt really anything I can do, Im soooo bored being stuck indoors all the time. The only thing Ive done this week is go to my sisters house yesterday, which was really good but thats only 1 day out of 5.

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 11/03/2010 10:07

Hi all,

Well its been all action for the past couple of days. All talk of inducing at the weekend was abandoned yesterday as Nipper decided his time had come and my firend gave birth to a small, but reasonably robust little boy yesterday morning. The medical staff were convinced that the pain she was feeling in her back (from about 6.00am onwards) was a symptom of the infection she had. They gave her antibiotics and paracetamol and told her not to worry about it. At 11.00am the registrar did an examination and decided that it probably was labour after all, as he could see a head! She was whizzed into the delivery suite and gave birth 50 minutes later. All with nothing more than paracetamol and a few puffs of gas and air!

Baby was a good size for 6 weeks early - 5lb 15oz, but they are a little bit concerned about his lungs, so he was taken straight to SCBU. Last night he was transfered to the other hospital in the city, where the neonatel ICU facilities are more extensive and ventilated, as he was struggling to breathe efficiently. Mum is still at the other hospital, but doing ok now and they hope to move her today. Latest update today is that he is breathing unaided now, which is a great relief. I spent last night washing all the small newborn clothes that Dad and I bought on Monday and Tuesday (best load of washing I've ever done! ) and doing a spot of clearing up in their house. Feeling hugely excited and worried at the same time. I'm sure baby will be fine, but it is a bit of an anxious time for everyone and I am trying to be useful and supportive and yet hopefully not interfer too much.

Work is suffering a bit at the moment! last week I was full of giddiness at me own news, this week I have been focusing on the excitement with my friends. Work is a minor inconvenience that has to slot in amongst it all!

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/03/2010 10:14

Aww yorkshire congrats to your friend on her baby boy! I bet shes really relieved everything has gone well and how well did she do on pain relief!

pixiestix · 11/03/2010 10:24

Yorks at labour with paracetomol!! That is seriously hardcore!
I'm so glad that your friends little boy is doing well. I hope that she gets moved to be with him soon.
[whispers] Don't tell Fulham he was six weeks early, she will totally shit herself!!! LOL

Pidgin · 11/03/2010 16:10

Yorkshire congrats to your friend and congrats to you for being a super-friend! It sounds like you're being a real rock. And bugger work!

Well I had my scan and it was very exciting, I saw the little yolk sac and a line the size of a grain of rice which the doctor reckoned was the embryo-bit, although to be honest I would not have recognised it unaided ! No heartbeat yet but the doctor thought that was normal - based on when I ovulated I think I'm 5+3 rather than 6 weeks. So I have another scan at my booking-in appointment in a fortnight and hopefully will get a heartbeat then.

I am so excited and for the first time feel I can allow myself to be excited... might not be a good thing though, I went shopping on the way home in high spirits and now have a too-high pair of shoes...

Sorry to hear you were facing a boring day, desperate, I hope something turned up!

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/03/2010 16:34

pidgin thanks for thinking of me! Something did turn up, another friend was free so I went to town with her for a couple of hours which was nice really glad the scan went well for you, Im sure the next scan will be even better when you see the heartbeat!

fudgecat · 11/03/2010 18:26

good news

scan was fine - one little blob with a heartbeat tucked up in there and we got given a picture to take home

The worst part of it was sitting in the waiting room waiting for my turn. One girl came out of the scan room in tears and i felt so sad for her as it was obvious what sort of news she had been given

No explanation as to what is causing the spotting, its been 6 days now but they didnt seem concerned about it so thats good enough for me.

pigin im glad to hear all went well for you today too

i just want to say a HUGE thankyou to you all for your support this week x

chancewouldbeafinething · 11/03/2010 19:48

fudge & Pigin Yeay!!!on your scans today glad you both got good news. I can uncross my fingers and toes now Shame you didnt see the heartbeat pigin, the next scan will come around quickly though.

I just got my next scan date 1/4 @ 2.30pm..just before the easter break - only 3 weeks to go, i will be 12+5 by then.

yorkshire wow your friend must be made of steel! a friend of mine did the same but admitted it hurt like hell. I am sure your mate will be so thankful for your help...and nevermind about work

pixie i think we would all be shiting ourselves LOL i cant imagine anyone being organised 6 weeks early!

despo ah i never thought of that, i am sure sleeping is hard enough without being kicked too!

fulham poor you, they are really stuffing you around arent they. Just get a doctors note if you want to go early, the baby is more important than them! Do you think you would go back there after you leave anyway?

ooh and my sea bands arrived today...i tried them, not sure i got them in the right spot though. Right i have a long weekend, being tour guide again.hopefully i get a bit of a rest too

I hope everyone has a great weekend xxxx

WhiteRoses · 11/03/2010 19:51

Hi everyone. )

Ugh! Three pages to catch up on! I've been so rubbish lately at keeping up with you all!

Hermya - ugh - horrible old creep at the swimming pool! Poor you!

Fulham - how sweet of your DP, planning to get you lillies on Mother's Day. I'd be VERY surprised if it dawned on mine to mark the occasion. His mum never even got a card till he and I got together! I'm thinking of making up a couple of little cards with our scan picture on for my mum and MIL, from their first grandchild. Not a present or anything, cause Baby's not here yet, but just something to have from it.

What a lovely, lovely dream about your nan...

Horrible story about your friend (shadow on LO's heart) but glad it all turned out for the best.

Spireal - congratulations on your little girl! Have you thought of names yet? We've now told everybody and I can't believe how many people have asked me about names! That and "was it planned?"

Pixie - great to have your scan date through... Not long now! You must be excited. Interesting they said about the 2% risk though in the letter. I really tried to find out what that risk was, cause it had happened to my mum, and no one would/could tell me! 2% is very low though. Lower than I thought. So try not to worry. You've been doing everything else right, haven't you? (Not drinking/smoking?) I'm sure you'll be fine. Didn't stop me having sleepless nights though! It'll be out of the way soon though, and then you'll be wishing you could do it all again. Like I am now! Roll on 20wks!

Desperate - lol! I will defintiely think moving thoughts for your placenta! (Only on MumsNet!)

Hermya - fancy locking yourselves out of your house! About the electricity though - I don't really know anything about it, but it doesn't sound right to me... Odd!

Fudge - that's a horrible thought about the Dopplers... See, I think I'd still get it checked out regardless (I'm quite a worrier) but it would be nice to think I could do something myself in the meantime, rather than just wait... I dunno... As Spireal said, it's not long till I start feeling movement anyway... Might just wait and see... I'm very much in two minds.

Sorry to hear you've been feeling sick and so tired. As for the AF-type pains in the middle of the night, it's easy for me to say but I wouldn't think it's worth worrying about. I've had similar in the middle of the night and during the day. I just think it's all your insides stretching and getting ready for Baby. If you're particularly worried, you could always call your midwife though - that's what they're there for.

Ozzie - how exciting - your first maternity dress! Have you bought much then? You're about four weeks or so ahead of me, aren't you? (I'm 13wks today.) I keep watching you to see what to expect!

Fulham - lol at you eating the chocolate first thing in the morning like that because Lily told you to! And lol at you stretching in your sleep - you must have very vivid dreams!

Spireal - just read your post about names. Unlucky! But thank goodness for Google, eh?

Curly - "I am giving birth to a beer-bellied chimpanzee" - that made me laugh! Great news about the arthritis though. Really hope they can get it under control for you.

Worrisome - sorry to hear you've been feeling so rubbish. I'm the same. Had a really bad day today, because I started off on the wrong foot by having a small breakfast. Been throwing up ever since! The Sea Bands certainly make a huge difference but only if I'm a good girl and eat regularly too... Oh well. As you say, not long till we bloom, eh?!

Curly - another girl! Really delighted for you! Poor little Dylan! Lol! The only boy so far!

Hobnob - sorry to hear you've been so sick. I know what you mean about the worrying though - I was convinced I'd be one of the unlucky ones too. Not that I'm taking anything for granted until I have my baby in my arms, mind you. Still..

Really good news that you've warmed to your midwife now too. I'm glad to hear that.

Spireal - I love that you've told us the names. You should just go with whichever you and DH like best and not take anyone else's opinions into account. However, seeing as you did ask... If it was me, I'd go for either Tabitha Mary or Vivienne Sarah, purely because Serafina is unusual. I have an unusual name myself and it's been the bain of my life! No one can ever spell it, let alone pronounce it! however, having said that, I know lots of people who don't like "common" names, and would prefer to be unusual. So either way, it doesn't really matter. Just down to your personal preference.

Ozzie - what a HORRIBLE dream you had. [hug]

Desperate - that's dreadful about your cold. I don't even know what to suggest but I really hope you start to feel better soon. x

Yorkshire - it's ridiculous, isn't it?! You want to be pregnant so much that I think you just expect to be blissfully happy once you are... You don't think about the worry (or sickness/ligament pain/heartburn/tiredness/whatever else!) at all, do you?! Still, we wouldn't go back even if we could, and that's what counts. (So I keep telling myself!)

...Started this reply yesterday (Wednesday) and ended up abandoning it cause I was sick, so now I've come back to finish it off, 24hrs later! Lol! (Thankfully feeling MUCH better today, after eating constantly all day!)...

Drewsgirl - yay! Congratulations! REALLY pleased for you! So when are you due?

Chance - sorry to hear about the UTI, but glad you're getting a bit more rest.

Drew - I wouldn't worry so much about the sandwiches in Asda... The problem with mayonaise is that it CAN be made using raw eggs. But really that's just if you're in a cafe or something and it's homemade. All the stuff in jars (Hellman's, Heinz, supermarket own brands) is fine. So one less thing to feel guilty about!

Chance - imagine following someone into the toilet! Good for you, going home!

Hermya - I'm so relieved that your scan went well! (I actually read that yesterday before I logged off, cause I just HAD to know, but I didn't want to risk replying out of sync and mixing myself up! Really pleased for you though. Was your OH able to be with you at the scan?

Lol at "dildo scan"! Oh, but see how you can't stop smiling now?! Just wait till your NEXT scan, when you might even get a wave, from a proper baby! It's THE most amazing feeling! Was it Tom Cruise who did daily ultrasounds on Katie Holms when she was pregnant? I can totally see why! You just want to be able to see in there all the time!

November - that's AWFUL about your boss! How long were you thinking of having off anyway? You won't change your plans after that, will you? (You shouldn't!)

Ozzie - that's so lovely about your DH. Mine earned a lot of brownie points yesterday. After a really sicky day, I was in tears when he came home. He's never seen me cry like that before! Anyway, he went out to buy me ice lollies, to try and help me keep some fluid down, and came back with a gorgeous big bouquet of white roses for me. (They're my favourites, in case you hadn't guessed!) Anyway. He really IS a good boy, isn't he?!

Chance - really got my fingers crossed that those bands work for you like they did for me. Just make sure you get them in exactly the right spot. Good luck!

Ozzie - sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish.

Fulham - I can't believe that! They wanted rid of you and now they won't let you go! Prats! [hug]

Desperate - sorry to hear you're feeling so fed up. You can have a hug too... [hug]

Yorkshire - wow! Congratulations to your friend! Especially for doing it on nothing but Paracetamol! Baby does sound a good size, considering, and excellent news that he's breathing on his own. I wouldn't worry about interfering either... You sound like you've been an amazing support, and the fact that you have it in your head that you could interfere probably means you're not. Anyway, this'll be great practice for you!

Fudge and Pidgin - EXCELLENT news about the scans. Fudge - you must've been SO terrified going in after seeing that other woman... Glad your DP managed to rearrange his hours at work though, so he could be with you.

Anyway, looks like that's me finally all caught up! Need to make the effort to get on more regularly now!

Hermya321 · 11/03/2010 20:25

Evening all!! How are things with everyone this evening? I'm good, I seem to have developed painful hips and back. They were alright before, but they seem to be getting worse now. I ended up crying at work today, I'm all in my health and safety risk assessed bubble (which is well boring btw) and I found out that some of the people I started with are starting some work which I really really wanted to do. I can't do it for obvious reasons but I can't help but feel sad. I love my job and I was really looking forward to doing some of that stuff. Who knows how the next several months are going to go. It can't be helped though.

Yorkshire I am well impressed with your friend, I hope her type of labour is catching (although maybe not baby in scubu) and well done you for helping her out.

Fudge Pidgin GREAT NEWS!!!! I'm so pleased for you both. I must admit Fudge that I've been logging on and off here all day hoping to see some news from you. When it got later, I did get a bit worried. I'm so relieved it's all good though. Isn't it brilliant seeing the little heartbeat!! Pidgin Thats really good that you get another at your booking appointment.

White My DH couldn't be with me as he had to work. He's already taken time out this week for interviews and we both felt a bit hmmm about asking again. I took my lovely friend with me and she really cheered me up. She kept me entertained with the latest gossip and goings on.

Fulham Seriously, tribunal their ass and go off with work related stress! I'll even come and tell your boss how and why she is a top of the line muppet. I will also tell her utilising a system of flip charts and colour coded sticky notes how she has broken the law and then inform her using a neon sign what the consequences are!!!

Chance I still can't believe she followed you to the loo. Silly person!

White Me and my DH are seriously going to end up leaving our poor DC at the supermarket on a weekly basies. We are both quite well educated (still don't quite know how I managed that one?) and apparently I have some common sense. We just have occasional ditzy moments, at that point it was a combined one. Pregnancy hasn't helped our cause at all. I can now see why Tom Cruise would do such a thing, he still freaks me out though and I don't know why.

Hello ladies

This is my first legitimate post on the grads thread - I POASd this morning and got a BFP

It still doesn't feel real - I feel no different other than having really sore boobs, and getting really bloated in the evenings. In fact I was so convinced I wasn't going to be pg this month I bought a load if new clothes yesterday that will most definitely not fit around a bump - I'll just have to try and wear them as much as possible while I still can!

Looks like starting a thread in conception really does guarantee a BFP!

bunny Yipppppeeee! Congratulations, that is wonderful news! Fantastic! And don't worry about feeling normal, I did for about the first 13 weeks, I honestly don't even think I would have known I was pregnant - no escaping it now though!

Really, lovely news to get into on a friday morning xxx

pidgin and fudge that's great news about your scans as well, excellent.

Fulham sorry to hear your work are being so rubbish - I would also consider a Drs note if you feel like you can't carry on, your baby is much more important than work.

Whiteroses that was a mammoth post....your DH also sounds lovely.

Yorkshire that's great news that your friend is doing so well, and that sounds like an excellent birth. It just shows that being ready early is a good idea!

I feel miles better today. Got home last night and had a lie down straight away, then had some dinner and was asleep on the sofa in front of "Property Ladder" at 9.00 and then in bed at 10.30! But it has made a difference, no aches and pains this morning.

Oh and whiteroses I have bought a pair of maternity jeans, a couple of tops (but my normal tops still fit) and three dresses which I can wear for work or casual. I also want a skirt for work and I'll probably buy a couple more things as I progress, but I'll just see how I go really.

I actually feel like I look smarter than normal as I feel a bit frumpy and fat so am making more of an effort to wear nice shoes or put a brooch on a dress or wear a nice jacket. Most unlike me, previously queen of casual. DH keeps saying "You look lovely" with a semi surprised look on his face
