Morning all, and welcome to all the newbies. DS had a lovely lie-in until 7am this morning, so I'm feeling a bit refreshed, though still could have slept for another couple of hours, I reckon. The tiredness is really hitting me now, which is weird because I thought it was supposed to get better the closer you got to 12 weeks??
driedapricots to clear up the pate question... You are 'supposed' to avoid all pates (except home-made non-liver ones) but for different reasons. Liver ones should be avoided because they contain lots of Vit A which is bad for the baby. Other ones should be avoided because they carry a risk of listeria (along with shop-bought coleslaw and potato salad, apparently). But TBH I'm slightly about the whole listeria thing, because the trouble is you can get it from so many things. There was an outbreak near here a couple of years ago where the culprit was ready-made sandwiches (from a hospital cafe, FFS). So I think any ready made food generally carries a very small risk, but for some reason pate is a bit higher than other things. But still tiny, so I shouldn't worry about it.
Quick question for all you second-plus timers: when are you planning on telling your older DC about the baby? DS is currently 2.4, and we weren't planning on telling him for quite a while, but he's going to have to come to the 12 week scan with us, and I'm wondering whether he'll work it out himself - either from that, or when we start talking about it to other people, so I'm now wondering whether it's better just to tell him sooner rather than later. What are other people doing?
