Here wonder, free delivery and 45 days to change your mind. They posted mine the same day I bought them and they turned up the next day

Spirael · 02/02/2010 17:17

Hi all! Hope everything is going ok with everyone. I haven't caught up properly with all the happenings, sorry about that. Been brought down for the last couple of days by the common cold. I'm really missing not being able to take Lemsip right now!

I've been advised that Vicks Vaporub is ok, so I'm currently smearing that everywhere in an effort to try and keep my nose clear! ... It's not working very well.

Anyone got any miracle nose clearing techniques?? I've blown my nose so much that it keeps bleeding now.

flexab23 · 02/02/2010 18:11

Wonderstuff: This site is great for nightwear and actually very attractive bras www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/30DD-nursing-bra.asp.

On sat I ended up having a depressing trip to John Lewis and came away with 2 horrid wireless bras. Then discovered this site so am return the worst offender and awaiting my lovely delivery. I'm now a 38C (17+1 weeks) after being pinched by my lovely wired 34C bras but that is just a rubbish size, I was hoping my cups would increase not just my back get fatter!! Is there still hope they will grow into a fine pair of bazookas I have longed for since childhood I wonder?!

Spirael I was off yesterday and working from home today with a nasty cold and was advised to try steaming to clear my nose, haven't tried it as not mad keen but after 2 nights of no sleep for blowing my nose will attempt it tonight. Or a kiddies plug in decongestant vaporiser but can't find one in the chemists near me. I would never have taken time off for a cold before pg and everyone was looking at me like a slacker when I dashed into office this morning to pick up work to do at home - they'd all be moaning if they caught my lurgies!!

evening all. Had midwife appointment today, which was fairly uneventful. She didn't even do the heartbeat - so non the wiser there! Next apptment not until end of April - which seems like an age away now. Suppose we have a scan inbetween to check baby is ok. Just seems like things are very few and far between...!

WhatSheSaid · 02/02/2010 19:09

Hi, just posting as I haven't for ages, been away for 5 days in a holiday home, there were 14 of us including the two kids so it was quite busy! Just got back yesterday and mil and fil arrive in the country tomorrow for five weeks (NOT staying with us the whole time though!) so I suppose I'd better make an attempt at making the house look less of a mess.

Feeling movements here, usually at night and sometimes nothing for a couple of days then feel them again. Actually feeling quite heavy and uncomfortable in the evening and I'm only 17 weeks! Definitely feel much more pregnant than at this stage in first pg

orangefizz · 02/02/2010 19:30

WSS yeah me too, i feel huge and achy already and last time i actually 'enjoyed' being pregnant, can't say the same this time Also, glad i'm not the only one with intermittant movements, i am getting quite worried at their infrequency, prob silly, given its early days, but can't help it.

re the sex talk earlier - it would be interesting if having a boy makes you up for it in pregs and having a girl doesn't - that would follow with my 1st preg (and this one - that'll be another girl then!!!!)

stac14 · 02/02/2010 20:00

orangefizz if the sex talk is right then I am having a girl this time too, as with ds I was well up for it lol

hi wss how have you been? I too feel quite uncomfortable but I'm not 17weeks till saturday. You looking forward to the in-laws coming? Not so bad your not stuck with them for the whole time hun

kitty I had the same kind of appointment yesterday, was boring lol. I am back in 3 weeks for my thyroid to be checked again so hope to hear heartbeat then

thanks chulita and flexabs for the bra sites. My boobs have just rounded out but think I need to be properly measured.

Just been in a meeting that started at 9.30am, broke for lunch but then was still going strong at 7pm. I was starving hungry (still am - DP is cooking), my bump was aching and I was feeling sick, and I just thought sod this - me and my baby are more important than this meeting. I knew my boss wouldn't mind me slipping out, she was flagging too!

what a day though! Am going to chill out this evening and do very little. The toothache is still bad too. grr.

kkfairybrains · 02/02/2010 20:32

lol at the raunchy woman dreams! i was extremely randy for a couple of weeks there but it seems to have wore off a little bit! much to dp's relief i'd say! he doesnt finish work until 2 or half 2 at night and i was waiting up for him every single night and the poor thing was soooo tired but i wasn't letting up! dh i know what u mean about the tightening i get that too but i dont think its anything to worry about.
tsc glad things are looking up for u. also must be very reassuring to feel movement!
i felt some movement last week but haven't really felt anything the last couple of days and was starting to get a bit worried.just getting a few pains in belly.nothing severe at all but just niggly pains.trying not to worry though xx

Wonderstuff · 02/02/2010 20:49

Thanks for bra links - will order a few and see what fits best - no decent bra shops local to me and so uncomfy.

If anyone finds anything that works well for colds let me know! Been 3 years nearly since I have been able to take any decongestant, so frustrating when you know lemsip will just really sort you out. Going to try and find dd's plug in karvol thingy in a bit. spirael I read that nose bleeds are more common from the second trimester (and bleeding gums) because of hormones and extra blood circulation and stuff. I'm getting them too (and the bleeding gum thing - joy).

Not sure about the sex in pg theory - was right off sex in last pg, and am again, although this pregnancy does feel v. different to the last one so I reckon its a boy. I just really don't feel myself when pg, generally quite fed up, uncomfy and cross - which is fun for everyone around me! Am going to go and run a bath - have a good evening all.

GlastonburyGoddess · 02/02/2010 21:56

Its interesting to hear what you guys are planning for maternity leave. I?m the same as you spirael, I earn more as such than dp, but he does more hours, I?m planning on trying to work up to 38 weeks(depending on how the spd goes), then hopefully get MA for 9 months before returning to work.

I?m v of how many of you knit etc, I tried to learn years ago but I was always doing the stitches too tight-useless!

Chulita and winter I know what you mean about the afternoon slump, as you say it?s the most inconvenient time of the day as preparing tea, arranging school stuff for the following day etc

violetbubbles haha that?s hilarious, a piglet, bacon rind, lol lol I?ve had a few strange dreams, so I think maybe the hormones are playing a part, although nothing quite like that!!

spirael I feel your pain, have had my cold for about 10 days now and am just trying to shake of the last of it, also having bleeding nose when I blow. Only things to do really are head over a bowl of vapor rub in boiling water or have a good cry-that always releases my sinuses and frees the snot!

orangefizz Interesting theory about sex. I was all over dp with the boys and this time around, apart from the first few weeks (in between being sick!) I was all over him, now I?m just not fussed at all, oooh, maybe it?ll be a girl!

thesecondcoming hows everything with your dd?

Been working a lot this week so I?m glad im not working now till Saturday and even then im just taking my lady to a hospital appointment so should only take a few hours, Im shattered!

In a lot of pain still with my pelvis but also my sacrum, my hips and down my inner thighs still, I?ve got my physio appt on Thursday so maybe she can try me with a bump support or give me a stick! Walking waddling like you do when your 9months gone, so not very attractive at 17weeks. Bloody body, makes me feel 95 instead of 25!
On the plus side I popped in to speak to the chiropractor last week and even though I haven?t seen her in 5 yrs, im still on her files so just have to pay £32 to see her instead of £45.

Haven?t had any ms for over a week now, so v relieved about that-seems to just be trigger nausea now, like the other day I was eating a packet of refreshers in the car and must of got a tiny bit of wrapper in my mouth, started heaving, but managed to breath through it!

I know some of you have said already, but whens everyone planning on going on maternity leave?

GlastonburyGoddess · 02/02/2010 21:57

Oh another tip Ive just remembered for when you have a cold, shake some olbas oil on the radiaters when you go to bed and the heat releases the vapours into the room.

Wonderstuff I was a 30E before pregnancy, am now a 32G. I just went back to Rigby and Peller to be measured, I know is expensive but they are so good in there. So now least I know my correct size and can buy elsewhere. Woman said can still wear underwire as long as it fits properly, those non wire one are just shocking if you ask me!

Re maternity leave Im so piddled off with work I might go asap!

WhatSheSaid · 03/02/2010 07:51

No maternity pay for me, you have to have worked for at least 6 months before the birth to get it here and I have been a SAHM. Dh's job is in jeopardy at the moment too

BUT, my mw gave me blood test results today and the risk of Downs has gone from 1 in 595 to 1 in 27000! Can't believe a blood test can change the odds so dramatically - not that they were high risk before but they are really low risk now.

WinterMadness · 03/02/2010 08:10

That sounds really promising tsc, very pleased for you

Gosh, I feel huge all of a sudden, over the last few days I've definitely expanded! Feel chubby with it though. Mental note to stop eating so many crisps. "No need to eat for two" is so conveniently forgotten when you know you don't have to watch your weight isn't it? Or is that just me? Lol

Have a nice day everone x

Chulita · 03/02/2010 08:17

Oops! I meant this one too, guess I found a new shop! This is the one that gives you 45 days to return stuff. I got some HotMilk ones but they seem to be a cup size too big, not sure whether I'll send them back or see if I go up a size...
wss, good news on the blood test
and tsc, hope your DD does settle back in even if she doesn't admit it, well done for sticking to your guns.

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/02/2010 10:01

Im getting out the house today, even if its just a walk along the beach, Ive been stuck in the flat for 2 days now and im going out of my mind. Is it sad to go walking alone though??

Chulita · 03/02/2010 10:07

Nope, I'm thinking of going to the cafe with DD (who's only small so it counts as going alone!) Not sad at all, more sad to sit at home watching daytime telly! not that I did that all of Monday...

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/02/2010 10:15

haha I did that all of yesterday! I really dont want to stay in,although I should be packing for the move as its this time next week
So far ive packed 2 boxes of dvds and thats it lol.

violetbubbles · 03/02/2010 10:23

Great news about your blood test results Whatshesaid. I'm stil waiting for mine. Had tests done two weeks past on Monday - is it normal to have to wait so long for the results? Maybe I should phone them?

Winter - I've totally expanded over the last week. It's shocking really, to grow so much in seven days. Have had to wave goodbye to my normal jeans until after the baby is born...

About bras - I was a 32E before becoming pregnant, now a 34F. Best bra purchased so far is an Emma Jane one for Figleaves.com. Cost about £20 but worth it. The M&S bras are okay to wear around the house but too saggy to wear outdoors!

DesperateHousewife - I go walking by myself all the time. Not sad at all. I take my iPod with me. At the moment I'm skipping along to the lovely Lenka album

viksam · 03/02/2010 10:43

Hi Guys,
I have made a vague attempt at catching up but this thread moves so fast i really cant keep up. I have been so tired lately cant even be bothered to boot up! Had my MW app last week, she was really nice, felt bad that i didnt have any questions, they listened for the heart beat, took her a while to find it but did in the end. Regarding finishing work, those who work full time, when are u guys thinking of finishing? Those of u that are on your second child, did any of u work full time first time around, if so when did u finish? I have staturatory mat leave i think so thats 6 weeks at 90% then down to SMP but i also have 4 weeks holiday to take. Not sure what to do really but need to decide asap for works benefit so they can get someone sorted. I was in a meeting for another aspect of my job and they already had another guy there ready to take my place so i have to share my work load with him from now on.....not sure how i felt about it so soon. Im capable of continuing untill i finish, felt like i was being a bit shelved, i also have another extra responsibility which i get extra pay for and the boss talked about handing that over too....Hmmmm, want my mat pay to include this, i have been doing it for almost three years so it would be really unfair to take it away before i go off. Moan, moan, moan........thats all i ever seem to do at the moment!!
Hope all ur colds and tooth ache etc are better.
Its eggy bread day for me so hopefully that will shut me up for a bit.
xx

stac14 · 03/02/2010 10:57

Hey ladies

dh21 not sad to go for a walk alone gets you out of the house. It is freezing here so I am being the saddo who is stuck with daytime tv. Going to the shops later then to school. Still have to get sorted with something to do.

I got my afp test on Monday violet and was told it would take about 3 weeks for the results. Maybe give it another couple of days for the post then give them a ring. I only got my blood results back for all the tests they do at your 12week scan yesterday lol

viksam sounds like your work have moved pretty quick, but maybe they feel like they are helping you. Have you had your thyroid checked again? My cons said I was to watch out for tiredness as this can be a sign your levels are dropping, during pregnancy it can decrease dramatically and quickly. My problem is the cons seems to have upped it too quick which could mean I am over active at the moment but have to wait till my appointment on 22nd to get a clear picture of what my thyroid is doing. Worth getting it checked anyway

wss thats great news about your results, did they retest you or something to make them change the result?

Hope alls well xx
