It says on the weather its going to rain down here, its not particularly cold though, thats the good thing about living in the south east garden of England and all that!

I like the idea of taking my ipod I never even thought about that. Good idea thanks!

violetbubbles · 03/02/2010 11:50

I'll leave it until Monday then Stac14. Where are you going for your blood tests and 20 week scan? I'm at the New Victoria for bloods and midwife check-ups; but at the Southern General for the anomaly scan on 17th February.

beckyg123 · 03/02/2010 12:23

Wow... you have all been chatting loads!!! not been on for a few days so will take a while to catch up!

Violet I only just got my test results from 12 weeks scan the other day!
Anyone any idea on good/bad iron levels! mine are 13.4 which from a brief google search seem to be great!

I am actually feeling really good and positive at the moment... hope i'm not jinxing it but expecting that glow any time soon!!!

Went to aquanatal last night and loved it! Felt a bit nervous about going in myself but everyone was lovely! There were some HUGE bumps there so scare the crap out of me!!! Think i'm going to go again on friday morning.

Viksam I work full time and am planning to work up to 38 weeks but will keep a couple of weeks holiday aside just incase i want to finish a little earlier. I'm really lucky and wouk for council so got good mat leave benefits and can carry annual leave over to next year. I'm planning to go back full time but not sure i will have the willpower to put LO into fulltime childcare so young! ... watch this space!!! I also earn more than DH so feel pressured to go back! Also don't think i would ever find another job as good as this! lol!

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/02/2010 12:38

Hello everyone Im back from my walk into town and bought a nice filled roll and cake from the bakery which im currently devouring yum!

Going to see my sister this afternoon as its my nephews birthday today, hes 2!

stac14 · 03/02/2010 12:38

Hey violet I cant go to the victoria or rutherglen maternity for my mw appointments as I am under cons care at the royal. I got the initial bloods took at 12 week booking appointment, on monday I had the bloods done for downs and spina bifda, I am back on 22nd for a thyroid check and my anomly scan is 1st march. Wow a lot of appointments lol But the midwife had said the bloods can take up to a fortnight to come through

becky I still havent sorted the overgrown bikini line to be able to go to aquanatal, which pool did you go to? My iron levels are 13.3 but I have no clue what that means lol What results did you get from your 12 week scan?

dh21 wrap up warm hun in case it rains I'm sure you will have a fab day.

I have just spent the last hour on the phone great fun lol xxx

stac14 · 03/02/2010 12:41

becky I put ds into nursery at 5 months to go back to work and he thrived (you got a lot less maternity leave when he was born) Its a pity the new legislation for men to get 6 months paternity leave doesnt come into action till next april, may be something you could look into though xx

OP posts:
viksam · 03/02/2010 12:41

stac i am under the consultant for my thyroid which was checked not so long ago and it was fine however they have upped my thyroxin by 25mg, hasnt seemed to make much differance thought still feeling really tired.
I do think work are trying to help and maybe i should let them but i dont want to seem useless and be put in the corner, kwim?

desperate Im going to the park in a bit when i can get my increasing back side off the sofa, i do have an excuse coz i have doggy to walk but i see loads of people walking alone, i think its a lovely de-stresser u'll feel better afterwards.

becky My due date is 15th July, i thought i might finish end of june, depending on health and size i suppose, is this realistic or should i go for some holiday before? I have no idea to be honest. Aquanatal sounds interesting, how deep is the water? It it hard? were there all stages of pregos there?

stac14 · 03/02/2010 12:50

viksam they upped mine 25mcg too but seems too much too quick, maybe pregnancy just making you tired hun. I am shattered a lot too generally by about 3pm when I have to go to school for ds lol. I do know what you mean about work, can you not suggest they only give the other guy half your duties 1 or 2 days a week until you feel you need more assistance?

OP posts:
beckyg123 · 03/02/2010 13:11

viksam i'm thinking along same timescales as you but i also have no clue how realistic this is!!! We'll soon see!

There were about 25 women at aquanatal and they were all at different stages. They sectioned of a part of the pool and you could choose whether you wanted to be at deep or shallow end! It was a midwife taking the class and she did loads of work on pelvic floors and core muscles! My body felt great afterwards!
stac i went to the gorbals and going to bellahouston on fri morning. I was really gutted with the royal as they are not running the exercise class so going to get into this!

stac14 · 03/02/2010 13:16

becky yeah they told me it was lack of interest, pity we dont know more pregnant women lol. Are you going to the partners antenatal sessions? Were you get the tour and stuff? we are hoping too xx

OP posts:
beckyg123 · 03/02/2010 13:47

stac think i'm going to go to the one where you go on your own for 8 weeks and the last session is for partners and a tour. Got MW a week on friday so need to decide and fill in the form to take with me then.
Its all getting so exciting and real now

beckyg123 · 03/02/2010 13:53

stac also ment to say it was just the usual screening bloods at 12 week scan including iron. I also had tests done for clotting as there is a close family history of DVT, results still not back for these.

Apparently average iron levels for women is 11, usually dropping to 8 or 9 in pregnancy. Can't find much info on high levels other than a few comments on it being sign of a very healthy diet!!! Mine is generally good but not amazing!

stac14 · 03/02/2010 13:57

no mine either but the doc once told me i had disgustingly healthy hemaglobin, think it was a compliment lol there are sessions on a wednesday night for both of you, its only 3 sessions, think i will go for them and the 8 sessions your talking about xx

Chulita · 03/02/2010 14:41

we don't have any ante-natal swimming near me.

violetbubbles · 03/02/2010 15:35

beckg123 - I've been to the fri morning class at Belahouston for the past couple of weeks. It's great-I love, love, love aquanatal. It's such a brilliant feeling bobbing up and down and floating in the water. And because it's non competitive you can be as energetic (or not) as you want

beckyg123 · 03/02/2010 16:37

Oh violet thats great! I will see you on friday then!!! i'll be the one looking lost as only been there once before!
stac de-fuzz and come join us!!!

WinterMadness · 03/02/2010 17:26

beckyg with ds I worked full time and finished 5 weeks before my due date (2 weeks maternity leave and 3 weeks holiday) and it felt faaaarrrr too long for me. Bear in mind he's a winter baby so weather wasn't even nice, I was bored stiff playing the waiting game. First two weeks were great then it got dull, so this time I'll probably go on maternity leave at 38 weeks and use my holiday before whenever I want rather than hold it back. As I only work 3 days a week I might be able to swing it so I only put a 2 day week in for the last 6 weeks! Suits me, seeing as though I wish I didn't even have to go back!

I liked aquanatal last time. But here it's a Thursday morning which is no good as it's my day off so I have no childcare. Can't say it helped much so not overly sad I can't go, but the (paid) time off work for it was nice when I worked full time

I've been so busy today, I'm knackered! I swear it's easier to go to work than amuse a 1 year old / get the shopping in / do housework / visit ill relations all day. Now got to go and start tea. See you later!

Chulita · 03/02/2010 18:28

Goodnight all! Not actually off to sleep but I'm knackered after trying to entertain a hyperactive toddler all day. Going to curl up in bed and crochet DH a phone sock - yep, I certainly know how to live it up!

kittykat77 · 03/02/2010 18:53

Know how u feel Chulita. I have 2 pre-schoolers here and I am completely knackered!

Will be offline for afew days as we are going 'down south' for DH's sisters wedding, so will catch up when we get back!

Wonderstuff · 03/02/2010 20:36

Hi all.
I tried dd's calpol vapour plug in last night and slept fine, so it must have helped unblock my sinus' Been a miserable witch all day at work though, snotty and sneezy and telling everyone all about it. So frustrating to be feeling rubbish again when I only just started feeling better after ms.

Aquanatal sounds lovely - there wasn't a class near me when i was pg with dd, will look again soon.

WM it is absolutly easier to work than be at home with a toddler - I enjoy my days off, but I am so pleased to see dh at the end, by 4.30 I'm counting down the minutes. Drives me mad when people remark how nice it must be to have a nice long weekend!

Chulita your evening plans don't sound sad at all, sounds heavenly - I have no idea where my knitting is since the move, we have no decent storage here and no money to buy any till next month at least, driving me mad atm.

Last time I planned to work until 38 weeks, figured an extra week at work would be less stressful than prowling round the house, but was actually sent home at 37 weeks hormones got a bit much and I was too much of an emotional wreck to deal with my classes - it was an intense time.

I don't have to work with such challenging behaviour now because I only work with small groups but still planning to leave at 36 weeks - am so looking forward to having some time out for me (dd will be in nursery 3 days a week) planning to knit and watch dvd's of West Wing - as its summer may even get in some walks and stuff, how many weeks to go?

My tummy exploded yesterday, can't believe how much I've grown all of a sudden, lots of people at work have commented - most of my boys haven't noticed a thing - if its not about them or computer games they ain't interested.

Anyway Daily Show then bed I thinks..

beckyg123 · 03/02/2010 20:46

Good night guys! yeh, i'm sleepy too...off to watch some junk on TV.

Winter - I was thinking about the waiting time before hand and don't particularly want to be at home too much. I'm in glasgow so the chances of good weather even in july are slim to none!!!
My work are so supportive and will let me do desk work for as long as i need too.
Yeh, the paid time off work for aquanatal is part of the fun!

Hmm... winter chulita and Kittykat* you have all just about persuaded me to go back to work full time- are toddlers really that much hard work??? think i have a lot to learn

Emster30 · 03/02/2010 20:49

There are no aquanatal classes round here - I've been to standard aquafit at my gym a couple of times and just adapted the exercises, but a special preggy class sounds good. Went for a swim this lunchtime, knackering as ever.

I am public sector so get tons of holiday - 6 weeks, plus I have carried over an extra week. Even allowing for 2 weeks between now and then it still gives me 5 weeks, so I was planning to go on AL at 35 weeks and start my mat leave on my due date. I wanted to check with HR what happens to my AL if the baby comes early - hopefully I can carry it over.

I can't imagine being too bored for 5 weeks at home (though I guess it could be 7) - sounds blissful! Better than squeezing myself onto the Victoria line every day at the height of summer...

stac14 · 03/02/2010 21:17

becky and violet what time is the class? I may well de-fuzz and come meet you's. your not super fit are you cos I'm rubbish lol

I dont have to worry about maternity leave and the lo is coming during ds's summer hols so means I have time to get a routine sorted or thats the plan lol

winter chulita and kittykat i had totall;y forgot how hyper toddlers are, ds was really good but it was non stop, no wonder you are so tired ladies.

curling up in bed sounds good, dp was working late tonight and struggled to get home due to the snow and i have another headache so early night is defo on the cards xx

There is an aquanatal class near me Im thinking of joining sometime after 20 weeks when im a bit bigger and its a bit warmer.

Had a lovely time today with my sister and her kids, they grow up so fast! My niece (who is the eldest) is 9 next Sat I cant believe it I still remember holding her at 3 days old

Hope you all had a good day today, seeing my friend tomorrow for lunch which will be nice, then my mum on Fri which will take me up til the weekend which I can spend with DP

DeeLite · 04/02/2010 07:32

Hello everyone,

I haven't been here for ages so struggling to keep up.

Started pregnancy yoga this week which was I really enjoyed. Lots of lovely bonding with LO. Nice to see lots of other people with bumps too and do some bump comparing! It was also great to see some girls there at 36+ weeks, looking great, feeling great and full of energy.

My bump has suddenly popped out so I told work this week. I hoped they would get cover for me but they are just going to split my workload amongst my three teammates. They are going to really resent me - it's not very baby-friendly where I work. I'm also worried that there won't be any work for me when I get back. We work to targets so I'll be first in line for redundancy if I fail to make targets a few months after returning.

To make matters worse, one of the few senior women there with kids told me that "it's easy". She worked up until the day before her LO was born and returned five weeks later. She seemed to be suggesting anyone who took longer was a wimp. She only had one kid too. Wouldn't want another to interfere with her precious job.

Anyway, that's my rant for now. I could have done with my yoga after my work meeting and not before as I need some de-stressing right now!

Still haven't felt LO move yet. Ah well. I know it can take longer with first babies so hopefully soon. Dead chuffed with my little bump though. I thought I'd feel really strange with a bump but I'm actually feeling totally overawed by it Bring it on!
