Morning all! Hope everyone is doing ok today.

Not much to report here at the moment. MS seems to have finally vanished, for which I am incredibly grateful. I made it through the whole weekend without experiencing any. I also managed to stay awake beyond 8pm. I almost feel alive again-!

Is anyone planning on heading to The Baby Show in London in Feb? My parents live in that area, so DH and I are heading down there for the weekend to head in with them. Anyone been to a previous show..? Are they any good?

Albrecht · 18/01/2010 10:35

Wicked Thanks for the dvd recommendation, have ordered it - you should ask for commission!

Gracie123 · 18/01/2010 10:46

Spirael - congrats on finally leaving the MS behind. Wish I could say the same [puky emoticon]

I went to the baby show 2 years ago and it was fab. Tickets cost around £10 I think, but it was worth it because we took home well over £30 each in freebies (I went with my sister). It was a really fun day out with the kids, although fairly crowded. Fortunately neither of ours were walking yet and were safe in their buggies. Not sure how I would cope with a toddler in that environment.

There was loads of stuff discounted there too, so it's definately worth going if you have a large purchase in mind that you need to buy (buggies, car seats etc..). My sis got maternity jeans from mothercare that should have been £60 for about £25 I think.

Definitely don't go if you are suffering morning sickness. It's EXTREMELY crowded and hot. Other than that a nice day though, and we got free photos taken of our kids

TishTosh21 · 18/01/2010 11:17

Morning everyone, I dont know if its the same with anyone else but the start of a new week depresses me. All it means is 5 days trying to think of something to do, im stuck in my flat (ok I have a car, but where can I go on my own?). I literally have 2 friends who are still living in my area but they work full time so seeing them is difficult.

PLEASE someone give me inspiration, what can I fill my days doing??

Spirael · 18/01/2010 11:47

Thanks for the info about the baby show, Gracie. I've been to a few different shows on other topics over the years and some of them have been so small and unhelpful that it's not been worth attending. The Baby Show sounds much bigger though, and freebies are always good!

I'm pleased that Britax have just announced they're going to be attending. I was looking at the B-Smart 4 for a travel system but want a chance to test it. Which I should now get, at the show!

I'm currently 'working' TishTosh, but mostly so far this month today I've been entertaining myself with designing the nursery and researching every single bit of baby kit I can think of. Don't tell my boss!

As well as picking out paint colours, I'm also making lists of everything I think I need and on another page the stuff I'd like to get (good for gift suggestions!). I'm noting down the make/model I've decided on, the cost, where I'm planning on getting it from and now soon it needs to be acquired. Probably sounds insanely organised, but I actually find it kinda fun!

So maybe you could start doing something like that, if it sounds like something enjoyable? Or, take up a new hobby! Maybe sewing or knitting some clothes for the LO, or doing a cute cross-stitch to embroider with the DOB to commemorate the birth. Could be made into a pillow or blanket, or framed and put on the wall.

Alternatively, getting out of the house/flat tends to help with cabin fever too. I'm not sure what the weather is like for you, but it's actually pretty nice here in Leeds today! If you have a park nearby, feeding the ducks is always fun. Especially when you imagine doing the same in the summer with the LO. Take a camera too, might get some nice pics.

Not sure if any of that helps... I might have strange ideas over what is enjoyable or not. My sanity is often questioned-!

stac14 · 18/01/2010 11:50

tish i feel the same, i defo need to do something to get out the house, pity we dont live closer lol. My friends work so i'm at a loss too. Are there any classes at your hospital? I'm phoning today about pregnancy exercise classes, its a start hun. I was trying to find the crochet mag chulita was looking for but to my surprise i couldnt get it, bugger lol

spiral great news bout ms, wish it was me lol. How many weeks are you?

grace how have you been? Is your sickness letting up?

viksam great news bout fil, at least he is on the mend. You'll be knackered with all the traveling, hope you get a lazy day today

Hi all - just popping back to say hello to everyone again.

I have not much news - will be 14 weeks tomorrow - am having lots of headaches - but been using 4head which helps a bit... computer screen making them worse. Anyone considered having an eye test? I read that sometimes eyesight changes... so i was wondering if that might be part of my problem!

CurlyCasper · 18/01/2010 12:14

iggy I read only last night that eyesight gets worse during pregnancy, though I think usually in later stages, but will return to previous levels once you give birth (so not to rush out and get new specs or anything). I'm already really badly short-sighted, so I'm hoping it doesn't happen...

I'm still getting headaches and putting it many down to hormones playing havoc with my sinuses, one of many common headache-causers (again, according to book - what to expect when...)

Glad things more positive for your FIL vik

Chulita · 18/01/2010 12:30

I'm kind of the same tish, we only moved here about 4 months ago and it's an army base which sounds like you'd meet people...but you don't. I've been in the living room all morning, and our house is part of a 30 house circle around a small concrete bit so we all overlook each other, and I've seen one person walk past. Everyone beetles out the back gate, gets in their cars and legs it I reckon. So yea, it's pretty boring all week and DD's just started walking so she want to be out falling in mud but I've still got ms so I'm not so keen. The Sure Start centre is the only thing that keeps me sane, and that's only on twice a week - good for DD though
I'm looking at a new buggy cos I'd like one with a pram bit for a newborn but they're all so expensive! I'd quite like a car seat that clips into an Isofix fitting too, I hate faffing around with seat belts! Argh!

iggypiggy · 18/01/2010 12:41

I know nothing about prams.. nothing... I might have to go a shop and see what they are actually like... either that or stop people in the street and demand information on their prams...

TishTosh21 · 18/01/2010 12:43

Spirael Ive looked at so much baby stuff online i could recite it in my sleep! It never gets boring though dont worry i wont tell your boss!

stac Yeah I dont think you could live further away from me lol. Well in GB I mean! Yeah my Sure Start centre is only down the road Im going there next week to see my mw so will look into what classes they do in a bit more detail. Ive been there before to see my mw but was only about 9 weeks and didnt want to join classes too early.

chulita it doesnt sound like you have much privacy there. At least you have your DD to keep you company.

Im seeing my friend tomorrow on her day off from work (she works in a supermarket) then on Wed seeing a different friend (who also works in a supermarket funnily enough!), then might go to Primark on Thurs. I see my mum on Fridays as she has those off work. Also somewhere in there I need to sort through the clothes in my wardrobe in preparation for the move in a few weeks. In fact I have alot to do really I would just prefer to be on MN all day! ooh its nearly lunchtime

beckyg123 · 18/01/2010 15:30

Well, just getting on for first time since friday. I've been having awful headaches and the screen is making them worse. 4head seems to be making a little difference but had to give in to the paracetemol earlier on - it hasn't done that much! I'm so tired which is not helping the tolerance levels!!!

violet where did you find out about the pregnany yoga? I would love to sign up to a class in glasgow - not good at motivating myself with dvds! found one in the west end but was nearly £10 a class which i can't afford! Did you get the details for exercise classes at Princess Royal? I'm not sure if they are just for those planning to deliver there or for anyone in Glasgow- its worth calling them tho coz they were short on women to participate when i called!

tish sounds like you are all sorted for everything you need for LO!!! I'm very
Although MIL has offered to buy pram- like others i'm worried about cost for her!

curlycasper I only has some similar pain, but mild, a few weeks ago and i thought i was in for a urine infection so i started on cranberry juice and lots of water - it seemed work and didn't get much more pain. But if you are worried maybe you should speak to your Dr?

Viksam thats great your FIL is getting better - like stac says, hope you have managed to get a lazy day today! I'm shattered without the travel and stress!

beckyg123 · 18/01/2010 16:03

Ohhh... ment to say - was asked outright today if i was expecting!!! It was a client i have not seen since october and she asked within first few mins of seeing me! "oh my, look at you! are you expecting?"
I'm so happy to look pregnant!!! Just as well i am or we both would have been mortified!!!

orangefizz · 18/01/2010 16:06

Hello all, just trying to catch up with all the posts!

viksam glad to hear positive news about your FIL
Not much new to report here, dreaded MS still lurking, worse in the evenings, keep hoping to wake up and feel 'blooming'! Am feeling a bit cheated with this whole 2nd trimester thing! Also getting quite a lot of sciatic pain/backache. Sorry, whinge whinge...

I also have a hen night in Feb and wedding in March (can't remember who also did) but bought a nice dress from jojomaman in their sale which will hopefully do for the wedding, but it looks pretty big now, its a bit hard to predict what size i'll be at the end of March, well i'll keep the tags on and then it can always go on ebay if no good at the time, like others were suggesting

TishTosh21 · 18/01/2010 17:34

Sometimes I think I look pregnant and sometimes I dont. My stomach doesnt stick out at all if im lying flat but when I stand up I have quite a substantial bump.

Does that mean its fat and not the baby?

stac14 · 18/01/2010 18:31

becky thats lovely, I keep getting told I have lost weight, bloody ms lol

Anyone getting to dinner time and feeling shattered then when you go to bed your wide awake?

tish you seem like you have loads on this week, we wont hear from you lol, meant to ask before how did your friend get on at the docs last week?

iggy I am the same about prams etc as ds will be 11 so its been a while since I have had a pram lol

spireal sounds like your on the right road, I may just start doing lots of online shopping

orangefizz we have a few things on in the next couple of months too, as you say its hard trying to figure out what size we will be by then but some of the bargains online are fab just now

Hope everyone is well xx

Just a note re: eyesight. I was already shortsighted before LC and it went downhill in the pregnancy and didn't come back, which was mucho annoying. I guess it will happen again this time .

stac14 · 18/01/2010 18:43

carrots do you think that could be causing the headaches?

I have had lots of headaches too, try to avoid using anything but think I might go buy 4head as it seems to come highly recommended

TishTosh21 · 18/01/2010 18:54

stac my friends DP got her AF the next day so they didnt go back to the docs, they took a urine sample to check her hormones but my friend hasnt mentioned it to me so not sure if they know the results. He felt really really upset and down that day though, they started trying at the same time as me (last Sept/Oct) so it must be getting very frustrating now. Thanks for asking, its v kind of you

stac14 · 18/01/2010 19:34

tish it took me 2 years with polycystic ovary syndrome but they say it can take up to 2years for a healthy couple to conceive so try to reassure him everythings fine. Its hard when your pg and know someones who's ttc. I feel bad just now with my niece but we are entitled to our happy time x

Hello I've been feeling ok My husband got himself in a bicycle accident just before xmas, so had to forget about the pregnancy for a few weeks. But back on track now I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl next month;)

kittykat77 · 18/01/2010 20:25

Evening everyone.

Not much to report here.

Orangefizz we have DH's sisters wedding at the beginning of Feb. I have decided that I am not spending loads on an outfit I will definately only wear once (well presuming I don't get pregnant every again!). Am making do with a top I bought in the next sale and trousers!

Tish one of my friends has been trying for years to get pregnant - here I am on baby no.3, and she still hasn't got caught. It does feel a bit awkward though, and I always feel really guilty when I have to tell her that we are having another baby.

On the front of meeting people - I think its really hard to meet people other than through work. We moved back to Lincolnshire, where I grew up, the year before we had the kids, and I didn't really know anyone apart from people at work. I have found that since I had the kids I have met lots of other peeps with kids. So hopefully once you have your baby you will find lots of other mums though baby groups ect.

Hi,
Re TTC Its really difficult and I do feel qualified to comment as it has taken us 5 and a half years to finally get to this stage but only through IUI. Its different for everyone but I only ever felt bitter when scummy doleite people would plop out another kid then throw themselves on the state to be looked after(harsh I know) But if it was a friend or member of the family I would feel genuenly happy for them. It would make me feel worse if people pussy footed around for my benefit. As I say though its different for everyone and stories like mine would give me hope, i feel so so lucky now to be on the other side of things and Im so appreciative, but also very paranoid and anxious, double edge sword or what!!
Got on my soap box i think there, sorry.

So I went looking for maternity clothes yesterday in exeter, but didnt have much luck. A-i didnt really know what I was looking for and B-I felt a bit of a fraud as I dont really need anything yet. I have only put on a pound or so and I naturally have a bit of a pot belly, always have, so i think baby is just growing into the shape! Where does everyone shop at the real shops?(as apposed to the virtual shops)
I havent had a day of rest at all today quite the contrary and the rest of the week will be full on by the looks of it too, not good!
Hope u all had a good Monday.
XX

berberis · 18/01/2010 23:32

I've been having really bad headaches the last few days, and I do work at a computer screen, but was wondering why worse. Do headaches get worse at this time, is that why we're starting to get them? It feels like a hangover....

wicked it is making me laugh about the yoga DVD, as it's now so popular! funny to think there are loads of us out there with our hearts opening like lotus flowers!

My maternity jeans I ordered online finally arrived today, now I have four outfits to wear, hooray! still only two dresses for work though.

midwife coming to house tomorrow, must make sure it looks tidy (though friend and mother of two told me don't make it too tidy as it won't look natural!!!) why am I still up and not in bed?
