Hi there

I have been on the July thread, but it moves so fast and as I don't have time (or energy being so sleepy), I can't keep up with everyone who is on several times a day! If anyone else wants to join me in a slower thread to share how your pregnancy is developing, feel free!

Hi JBroRo, I finished at 36 weeks with ds, but had an hour's commute each way to deal with, which was getting to be a bit of a killer. I think it also depends on when you're planning to go back - I had a year off with ds, and plan to do the same this time, so I am a bit less worried about saving every week for time with the baby. Plus this time 5 of my 8 weeks off will be annual leave I have to take before formal mat leave.

I know plenty people who've worked until very late on - some people enjoy the distraction of work to get them through the last few weeks (I don't get bored with chilling!) It really does depend on how you're feeling in yourself, your work circumstance and how you feel about not having lots to do.

ApuskiDusky · 08/03/2010 21:36

X post lifeistooshort, congratulations on the news that it's a boy, and that everything came up fine on the scan!

Twittle · 09/03/2010 16:30

Hi All...

LITS congratulations on the news that you are having boy that's great!

I had my 20 week scan this morning (20 weeks tomorrow) and all is well and it was truly amazing and now I feel a little more like I am having a baby - I could even see his/her nostrils it's incredible! All looks well which I am really happy about as I have to admit that I was quite nervous! I can't believe that as long as everything is going well, the next time that I see our baby will be in person and not on the screen!!

Jbro I think I am going to finish work at least 4 weeks before just so that I can hopefully enjoy the sun and get out in the garden! But I think it is all dependent on how you are feeling, I have got a friend who is due in May and she is hoping to work until about 2 weeks before!

ApuskiDusky · 10/03/2010 17:10

Oh brilliant, the heartburn has started, I'm cracking open the gaviscon as I type (OK, not literally....)

GibbonInARibbon · 10/03/2010 19:30

Congrats on your boy LITS! and so glad your scan went well Twittle!

My bump is huge everyone is saying are you sure it's not twins, are you sure it's not due well before July? Even DH said you look like you are 8/9 months

Am telling myself it's lots of water

Got heartburn here today too Apuski, didn't start with DD till 30 odd weeks. Baby is kicking so much too, keeping me awake at times.

Hope everyone is well

tobago04 · 10/03/2010 20:10

Evening all, glad your scans went ok LITS and TWITTLE,and congratulations on having a boy LITS,how exciting!
I had mine today, had to wait 45mins! not great with a full bladder and a baby that keeps kicking it!
It was great though, they've had a new scanner since i had my last two dds,it was loads clearer, could see all it's fingers, she also gave us extra photos because we'd waited so long
Hope everyone else is ok

lifeistooshort · 10/03/2010 20:31

Hi ladies

Thanks for the congrats

Twittle so glad you scan went well too. I could seen inside the nostril too and was shocked, I couldn't remember seeing this nor seeing the baby this well with my other two

tobago I hate to tell you this, but you do not need a full blader for the 20weeks scan! Glad all went well for you too! It is such a relief isn't it

Well I will join the heartburn crew too. Started this week and I need to go to boots and buy the fruity tablets I had with DS. I think I am started to look huge too Gibbon I saw my reflection in the miror at the chiro and thought "OMG I look like I am 7months already". But then I cannot stop eating unhealty stuff probably to compensate the stress at work and my 14 hours work day at the moment

Hope the rest of you are well

tobago04 · 11/03/2010 10:00

In my scan letter it said to drink 1 1/2 pints an hour before and even then i had to go for a wee before we left for the hospital, also had to go just before the scan, but the picture was really clear so think your right LITS,don't think i'll bother next time!

skihorse · 12/03/2010 10:02

I'm having a boy!

My scan was at 8:30am so I started chugging back water at 6:30am and bitched about it all morning. She started scanning and was laughing, his bum was up in the air and his head, hands and feet all scrunched up underneath him - then showed me my bladder which was as big as my uterus - and told me to go an have a pee.

Why oh why oh why does nobody tell you this stuff?

I am working until the legal limit for this country (36 weeks) - I will probably take a week or two holiday before then depending on how I feel closer to the time. Right now I'm driving to work but if that gets uncomfortable I will have to take the train - so it's really just a case of wait and see.

My little boy does not stop wriggling, morning, noon and night he's jumping around and using my umbilical cord as monkey bars.

HollyFP · 12/03/2010 11:14

Congrats Skihorse! I have my scan on Monday but they don't tell us what sex it is, am happy to be surprised!

My little one doesn't stop wriggling either - whenever i get up in the night to pee it starts playing around again, and i just can't help but see what it does

So good to hear about the lovely scans - it's a nerve-wracking momnent isn't it?

I've had a week from pregnancy hell this week!! WOke up sat am with what felt like trapped wind which then had me screaming around on the floor. OH called an ambulance and we both thought I was miscarrying Got to hospital, given gas and air, pethidine, morphine and told my ovary had probably twisted die to cyst. I was taken to theatre and given an epidural (it was like revisiting all my old favourite labour drugs but without the nice outcome) and a general. They removed the cyst and part of the ovary, stapled up my stomach and 5 days later I came home (yesterday in fact).

My 20 wk scan was scheduled for tuesday and so I got dressed and shuffled down the corridor for it. Unbelievably the baby was fine. To be honest with you, I had been wishing I wasn't pregnant through the pain, but the second I saw her (another glorious girl!) I cried with relief and utter pride. I just thought, "well of course she's a girl! We're survivors!!"

It's odd but I'm thrilled (despite a big stomach wound and some discomfort)because the cyst is gone and I no longer have to worried about it PLUS I've just had a rude reminder of how well gas&air work!! Plus epidurals (was on one for nearly 3 days).

And now we know we have a little trooper in here and can't wait to meet her and tell her how proud we are of her x

iggypiggy · 12/03/2010 16:09

Hello - just wondering if I mgiht be able to join you lot.... I was on the July thread ages ago - but it all got a bit much... but this thread seems less hectic

I already know ski

But for everyone else - I am due my first on 20th July. Have my next scan at 22 weeks on Tuesday.

lifeistooshort · 12/03/2010 17:36

Tobago for us at the reception of the scanning department there was a notice board saying that you only needed a full bladder for the 12 weeks scan. I only wished I saw is when I was 12 weeks!

congrats ski so glad all is well and that you are having a little boy.

Iggy welcome to the thread. It is very nice on here as it is nicely/slowly paced and you do not feel any pressure to post regularly or else be forgotten. It is all in their own time.

MrsCrocoduc poor poor that must have been such a scare, you must have been beside yourself! You really haven't had the easiest ride so far, have you? On the plus side as you said at least the cyst is finally gone and your little daughter healthy. Once you have recovered from the op, you might finally be able to relax into this pregancy and enjoy it instead of being anxious about the cyst. In a way I am pleased for you. Not because of the cyst being painful and the op, but because finally you might have a chance to enjoy what should be such a special time.

I hope every one else is fine

Personally I am ok but very tired after another mad week at work

ApuskiDusky · 14/03/2010 20:35

Goodness, MrsCrocoduc, I've just caught up on this, what a nightmare week, I hope you're recovering well now. And great to hear that your dd is doing well despite all of it.

Welcome iggy, its definitely less hectic here (I have to go looking for it, it keeps dropping off my threads I'm on!).

Hope those with dcs already had a nice Mothers Day.

GibbonInARibbon · 15/03/2010 09:13

Congrats Ski! and welcome Iggy

Bloody hell MrsCrocoduc, you have had an awful week so relieved to hear you are on the mend now and your baby girl is a real fighter!

tobago04 · 15/03/2010 19:30

Poor you mrscro that sounds awful and scary for you, hope your doing well, hope you had a good mothers day too after all that!
Welcome iggy it is a lot more chilled on this thread
Congratulations ski, this whole drinking thing before a scan seems stupid doesn't it?
Not much to report, had lovely cards and flowers from dds for mothers day, then it all went a bit down hill from there,DH had to work and dd2 was sick all over me and the bed, never mind, hope everyone else had a good day

GibbonInARibbon · 15/03/2010 20:30

Aw tobago, hope DD is feeling better now.

Nothing much to report here either, still tired the whole time, have resigned myself to the fact that I am not going to get that elusive burst of energy [sigh]

Hope everyone else is feeling well

HollyFP · 16/03/2010 11:01

Hi all, had my 21 week scan yesterday - i was soooo excited to see my little baby again you don't need a full bladder for this one, so thanks for the heads-up!

the sonographer was very efficient, to the point of not getting a great scan photo...it looks like a frog! i should've insisted on a better image, but i was just so happy that everything was fine i didn't think...if anyone is yet to have a scan, make sure you get a good photo!

otherwise feeling pretty good, although having increasing trouble getting up stairs on the tube!

Can't believe we're all over half way there!

iggypiggy · 16/03/2010 13:29

Thanks for the welcome everyone

I've just had my anomaly scan at 22 weeks - everything was fine - so lovely to see how much the baby has grown

holly I too had trouble with the stairs on the way to my appt!

Twittle · 16/03/2010 14:50

Hi Everyone seems like it's been a busy couple of weeks for everyone!

MrsCrocoduck I really hope that you are on the mend now and feeling better, what a nightmare you have had but to echo others congratulations on the news that you are having a little girl - and you're right she is a real trooper by the sounds!

Congratulations ski on the news of your baby boy, its seems that at the moment baby boys arriving in July have the monopoly!!

I'm glad all the scans seem to be going well for everyone!

My eczema seems to be really flaring up at the moment and I am just a big itchy mass but I guess it's payback for having an easy ride so far i.e. no morning sickness etc!!! I'm still not feeling many kicks and flicks either - I am hoping that perhaps this means I have good stomach muscles rather than anything untoward........... although can't actually see any muscles these days as I appear to be expanding by the minute!!!

*Holly haven't they got any moving stairs at the tube not that I am encouraging you not to participate in exercise of course!!!!

Apologies for the awfully long post.........

ApuskiDusky · 18/03/2010 09:52

Hi all, I'm 'working from home' today after coming back from an overseas work meeting yesterday, I feel so knackered and achey, I'm not sure I can keep doing this. I'm supposed to have two more trips in the next month, I don't know if I can get away with saying I don't want to do it anymore. Threats of redundancy loom, so I'm trying to be as useful as possible at the moment.

Sorry, just having a whinge, hope everyone else is well.

skihorse · 18/03/2010 09:54

tobago Drinking water when you need a pee could replace any form of torture method the CIA could come up with!

twittle I know, any girl born in the summer of 2010 is going to have her pick of the boys when she grows up!

My ms has come back this week unfortunately and I've had more dizzy spells, puking & general shitness. I found myself in the bathroom yesterday morning wishing I were putting on ski trousers instead of effing maternity jeans and I swished side to side taking big sweeping turns down the mountain... On the plus side, unlike twittle my eczema is actually improving - so it must be time for the coldsores to come back!

tobago04 · 19/03/2010 13:36

Hi all,

Whinge away apuski thats what we are here for ,hope you get some rest,
sorry to here your not too good ski, what a nightmare that your ms has come back
I'm feeling pretty good but my bump has grown loads this last week,i'm sure i look about 6mths!

Twittle · 19/03/2010 14:11

Hi All... hope you are all enjoying the spring weather - I am so glad it has warmed up, I think I even smelt someone barbequeing yesterday - perhaps a little keen!!

Just a quick question really last night a friend did the 'ring test' over my hand to find out the the sex and number of children that I am going to have.... turns out I will apparently be having 3 boys (my eldest sister already has 3 boys and my other sister 2 boys so we could be overrun soon.....)!!!!!

Anyway my question is - does anyone believe in these old wives tales and does anyone know any other tricks and tests that can predict the test of your baby???
