Hi there

I have been on the July thread, but it moves so fast and as I don't have time (or energy being so sleepy), I can't keep up with everyone who is on several times a day! If anyone else wants to join me in a slower thread to share how your pregnancy is developing, feel free!

That should have read predict the sex of your baby - sorry I am typing faster than my brain can think or maybe thinking faster than I can type..................

JBroRo · 19/03/2010 16:15

Hi ladies,

Twittle - I think the gender predictors are fun but only that, I definitely don't believe them. I have a couple of colleagues who swear that you can tell the gender of the baby by the sound of the heartbeat i.e. a galloping horse is a girl and a train is a boy. Well, I've heard my little one's heartbeat 3 times now and have had both sounds!

I had a 25 week check up with the midwife today. Nothing to report, I always expect more before I see her and feel a bit disappointed afterwards. I know that that is daft as far better to have straightforward appointment. Basically, she checked blood pressure and urine sample. We listened to the heartbeat and that was about it.

To be honest the most useful bit was getting my Mat1B form for work and the form for the health in pregnancy grant.

Am booked in again for 3 wks time where she will apparently take another blood sample and check that my iron levels are ok.

Sorry for the long post, just thought it might be useful! x

tobago04 · 19/03/2010 22:42

My friend did the ring test on me just before i got pregnant and it said 2 girls and a boy,so we'll wait and see! She also said that her aunty did it on her mum and got it right and she had 2 girls and 3 boys, not bad guessing,
With dd1 the midwife thought it would be a boy going by the heartbeat it's just nice trying to guess is'nt it twittle

mrscrocoduck · 20/03/2010 17:59

don't believe in it no! Trust in science and ask the sonographer?!

stardustsmile · 23/03/2010 15:26

Hi, I just joined here, 24wks, No.3 is due on 17th of July.

Lots of movement, hungry all the time!I had 18wks scan and next one is 28wks which is 26th of April, it's a long way!I'm going to see GP check up this week but no scan. As I live in rep. of Ireland it is different from UK...

My DD9 amd DS6 will have Easter break from this Friday for 2 weeks.I'm working part-time 3 days a week Mon-Wed but it is getting very tiring to go to work. I wish I had an Easter break like my kids!!!

Hope everyone is doing ok.
I try to catch up wiht you girls...

ApuskiDusky · 25/03/2010 14:08

Hi stardustsmile, welcome. It has been a bit quiet on here lately!

Hope everyone is doing well.

I have now reached the 'belly-button' stage - right now I'm borderline between an 'innie' and an 'outie', so not long until I have a protruding belly button to contend with.

mrscrocoduck · 25/03/2010 15:02

good news! You may recall me having a cyst removed that twisted my ovary and caused much agony! Well, just had letter from consultant confirming that it was benign and unlikely to reoccur!

I think DH is even more relieved than me, I'd forgotten about it, but he's quite a worrier.

PLUS the I injected myself with anti-coagulant for last time last night. Double celebrations tonight!!!!!

Fingers crossed for a DULL rest of pregnancy!

Twittle · 25/03/2010 16:01

Hi Everyone!

Welcome stardustsmile you must be an old hand now seeing as you are on no.3!

Apuski funny that you mentioned the 'belly-button' stage as I noticed mine the other evening and I am also borderline nearly and 'outie' I must say as a first timer these are all things that are strange to begin with and take some getting used to, as is the fact that my tummy is growing and is no longer looking like I have eaten too many chocolates but that there is actually a baby in there!

mrscroc glad to hear that you have had the all clear, that's great news to nearly end the week on!

Hope everyone else is doing well, I have got an appointment with the midwife next week and so am looking forward to hearing the heartbeat, and hopefully being told things are going along swimmingly!! Nothing else to report which is a good thing!

mumtoo3 · 25/03/2010 21:11

Hello Ladies

I am new to this thread and due at the end of july, but we under bake by 3 weeks

I have given up with my belly button it is sooo an outie now!!

No idea when or if i am seeing a midwife any time soon! seeing consultant again at 28 weeks, and doppler scan next week, so hopefully someone will tell me!!!!

Is everyone else enjoying this stage?

mt3 x

MelissaM · 26/03/2010 10:04

Hi All. Can I join in too?
DC2 due 14 July. DD1 will be 3 on 8 July

mrscroc - glad to hear all ok.

My belly button never turned into an outie last time, so am hopeful again. Oddly it gets deeper in 1st trimester!

Craving any food, but mainly sweet things at the moment. Haven't suffered too badly with nausea this time round, but been more sick than with no 1 Feel for anyone still suffering though. Haven't been ill for a few days, so hopeful now past me.

Had a consultants appointment this week and seeing midwife next week. Had both my 12 and 20 wk scans, so no more scans unless they want to check anything out later on. Seeing consultant again in couple of weeks, and am sure that won't be it! DD1 had suspected early onset Group B Strep (GBS) so having to see consultant to find out options. Local hospital currently reviewing its GBS policy, so am hopeful that might be able to influence some of the policy making and still get my homebirth.

Better go do a post in the right area for info on GBS and antibiotics at home.

Hope everyone has a good day

HollyFP · 26/03/2010 11:34

Hi everyone, loving this new warmer weather! My belly button has suddenly popped out, so that it even shows through my tops it's quite funny though, i quite like it. my belly seems to have grown quite a bit over the last week or two, am definitely filling my maternity jeans now
The baby is having a great old time kicking away, sometimes it's even so hard as to make me sit up shocked...i guess more of that to come though .

Scruffers · 26/03/2010 16:43

Hello all, my belly button has also popped. DH is always trying to poke it back in which feels so wierd as it is skin which has never really been touched before. Does anyone else get a really heavy bump sometimes so much that it feels like the whole baby could just drop out?!

HollyFP · 26/03/2010 16:59

yes Scruffers sometimes my bump feels so enormous and bloated that i feel about to burst. kinda worrying to think what it'll feel like in a few months!
Weirdly I'm also going to the loo more now than last month, although not as much as in 1st trimester thank god.
anyone started shopping for baby stuffs yet? not sure where to start!!

tobago04 · 26/03/2010 21:24

Hi all, welcome to all the newbies
You've all made me feel so much better, was getting a bit panicky about the size of my bump but it's reasuring to know i'm not the only one with a big bump and nearly sticky out belly button!
Good news mrscro, hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy now
Also nice to know i'm not the only one on no.3
Hi melissa,i will also be treated for Strep b,dd1 had it [only found out after labour],my midwife said i could have the anti-biotics at home but you have to have it in your bum with a large needle and she said it's very painful, but probabley worth it if you really want a home birth.

FlowerBee · 29/03/2010 14:01

Hi everyone, glad to find a slightly slower thread as am not that consistent with my posts. Just like to catch up occasionally. Due 1st July though as it's my first who knows!

Apuski et al funny you mentionned the belly button thing.... have been observing my ever-expanding-stretching belly and wondering how much longer my poor belly button will cope!

Not sure i really enjoy being pregnant apart from the thicker shiny hair. In hindsight would have been very happy for a stalk to deliver a baby.....is that still available....would i have to ring Interflora?

Twittle · 30/03/2010 10:17

FlowerBee if you find the stork's contact details can I please have them too - that sounds like a much better idea, as yet I am still waiting for the 'bonus' side effects i.e., shiny healthy hair, glowing skin to happen!!

Have got a wedding in a weeks time and tried on some different pre pregnancy dresses last night which was disastrous, not even a shoe horn could squeeze me into some of them.... anyone have any ideas about where I can buy a maternity dress that is not really expensive but that is young and fun and not too dowdy, I still want to try and look good reasonably attractive if at all possible!!!!

FlowerBee · 30/03/2010 13:17

Twittle Monsoon do a few empire line dresses that you might be able to squeeze a bump into. Otherwise most "maternity occasion dresses" do seem a little pricy.

If ur feeling adventurous how about making an empire line maxidress. I did that for my recent holiday to Mauritius where i really wanted a maxidress but didn't want to fork out a fortune. Got a pattern for the bust bit and just gathered the swathes of material for the skirt. Worked quite well.

Am thinking of starting a thread for things i wish i'd known/know vs Things i'd recommend/warn about! See the Preg forum...

randomama · 30/03/2010 13:23

hello please may i defect join too? everyone on the main july thread is lovely but it's got the point where the thought of catching up on so many posts gives me a panic attack. plus i'm not very prolific myself. this seems more my pace.

i'm due 8th July with number 2, whom I've been told is a little girl.

my belly button (to join in with the navel gazing) is just getting deeper and deeper. it did the same with the last pregnancy too. it's like staring into the abyss. even the thought of it makes me feel sick.

other than that i'm blooming. if skin so dry that it's actually flaking off and massive weight gain on the hips and arse counts as blooming?

emotionally i'm a complete wreck. So angry and aggressive and defensive all the time. My poor DP, this pregnancy has turned me into a less reasonable version of Valerie Solanis.

and in other news i don't like my midwife, live in a rural area and am considering using a cork or something if this baby starts to arrive while she is on call for homebirths...

despite all this i'm beside myself with excitement about meeting my baby. only 14 and a bit weeks (yeah right) to go, YAY!
hope everyone is well.

HollyFP · 31/03/2010 11:55

welcome randomama - you made me giggle. With you on the hip/arse trauma. Hope you're ok though.

I've had 3 people tell me in the last week that my bump is big. am sceptical enough to ignore them though and let my bump do what the hell it wants
i'm 5'3, so i reckon it would look big, right?!

am going to brave the shops this weekend to look at prams...eeeeek! anyone else ?

Buckler · 31/03/2010 20:45

Hi can i join? I'm almost 23 weeks with my first still so nervous as miscarried twice last year in the early stages. I have felt the odd flutter and something stronger at times but no kicks yet, trying not to worry the midwife says everyone is different and not to worry when she came out last week, she listened in to baby's heartbeat and all was good. I feel really impatient though want to feel her kick. How about everyone else, when did you feel the kicks start?

FlowerBee · 01/04/2010 18:46

Rode a bike round the block for the first time in a while today. Was quite pleased i could keep such a load balanced! Tires got a it deflated though! My 17 yo brother was bemused/slightly horrified (as he is with the whole concept!).

GwennieF · 03/04/2010 20:31

Hi Ladies,

Can I join too please.... I'm due on the 6th July, but as DS1 had to be forced out at knifepoint 15 days late am not expecting much activity until much later in the month! Be prepared for lots of moaning about never-ending pregnancy.....

Am 27 weeks now, so theoretically only 13 to go.... On the homeward stretch!

Re the belly buton thing - mine is just getting flatter and flatter and is starting to go numb!

mrscrocoduck · 04/04/2010 17:02

buckler try not to worry too much, sounds like you're getting the first fluttery movements! It won't be long till you'll see elbows and feet rippling across your mammoth bump and till you're getting thumped in the bladder (still makes me gasp!). But I love feeling movements and I'm getting a bit impatient for the really big ones to get started!

Belly button popping out?! Not thin enough this time round (er... or first time come tot think of it!). My scar won't close up near my belly button though so I guess that could be equally cute if I ignore the oozing!

skihorse · 05/04/2010 16:24

Buckler I think I'm quite unusual in that I felt him moving from 17 weeks - I'm now 24 and believe me it goes from "oooh he's kicking, OMG OMG!" to "oh give it a rest son" quicker than you'd think! No reason though why you can't get your partner to try and listen for the heartbeat to reassure yourself? If he can't hear it with his naked ear then try using an empty loo roll to tunnel the sound.

Twittle · 06/04/2010 10:44

Hope everybody had a good Easter and 'Hello' to those who have joined recently !

I had the shock of my life last night when I went to bed, the most almighty kick that I have every felt, as a first timer I have to say it was quite a shock! Think I could be harbouring a karate champion!!

I am also not very good at sleeping on my side, I start off that way and then wake up on my back, but can't complain as at least I am sleeping!

I agree with you GwennieF it is nice to be on the home straight even if it is another 16 weeks (for me) until the finish line is in sight!!
