Just fixing list so it's easier for others to add themselves.

Love the name Ava kat, my DDs middle name is Rose too as it's both my mum and Nana's name.

We chose Molly coz it was my Nana's sister's name. She told us a lovely story recently about how and she and my Papa would never have got together if it wasn't for something Molly did to help her sneak out of the house and I thought it'd be nice to remember her. We'll probably go with Maria as a middle name in memory of my aunt who died when I was 10 of breast cancer at age 36 (which I am now so been thinking about her a lot). I really like Poppy too but with our P surname I don't think it'd sound right.

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 19/12/2009 10:32

I'm very jealous at you lot having your 20 wk scans. I'm 20 weeks on Christmas day, then had to find an early morning apt so DH could come to, now got to wait till 7th Jan.
Have already got 2 DC's of each flavour, but youngest is a DD, would quite like another DD so they could be close (and I can reuse pink car seats, high chair, stockpiles of monsoon clothes (my shameful obsession etc!)
We like the name Florence (Flossie for short) for a girl, but think DH would like another DS (he like the name Noah.)

HeffaMerryChristmas · 19/12/2009 12:08

Schipo - I do really love my Bugaboo (not a Bee though). It was worth the money. I loved having DD in a sling as well but I can do a big shop with the buggy so that's helpful.

Can't believe how fast this thread has gone!

Welcome to all the newbies

Lots of lovely names We can't decide at all this time. One of the middle names (my family has two traditionally) will be Anne for DH's grandma who died recently. Assuming it's a girl ofc.

We finally have had some snow here which is great . Had a big shock yesterday when DD disappeared upstairs. I followed her up after a few moments and found her covering herself in Sudocrem . She was completely smothered with a really even layer. Impressively she hadn't got it anywhere else though so at least it wasn't too much cleaning to do.

Thanks for fixing the list ForcesSweetheart made it so much easier to add my details!

We are hopefully, weather permitting off to Cumbria tomorrow to spend Christmas with my mum and dad. So won't be able to post for a while as no internet there! They have just got a computer!

Just want to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and look forward to catching up when we are back.

pamelat · 19/12/2009 14:00

DD's middle name is Florence. Its my favourite name of all time but DH was not as keen, so I got it as a middle name instead

I am very jealous of all you ladies pregnant for the first time (appreciate I have had my turn at that ) as 2 weeks off to relax sounds fabulous. I feel a bit guilty as am not really looking forward to Christmas holidays. DH has to work, my parents go away on Boxing Day for a week, so it will be me and DD (23 months) but without the usual support network of friends with toddlers as they are all busy doing family stuff.

Appreciate am still lucky, just having a minor whinge

SquirtsMum · 19/12/2009 14:14

Sorry forgot to put my age in - 27
August/Sept seemed a very busy month for shenanigans (sp?)... oh well it was free and fun at the time
Have decided on next scan not to find out the sex - as DP says its 50/50, not much of a surprise, now if its a table and chairs from Ikea with price tags on then yep, thats a surprise!
Haven't bought a thing yet and not going to for a while as flying home to see parents in Jan and i know mum will have bought near enough everything i'll ever need (first GC so she'll go crazy!!)
Is it wrong that i'm slightly jealous of the snow in England atm? Live in Belfast and its cold baltic but no snow

xxxx

Updated list!
Squirtsmum - The snow is on its way to you, isn't it? I heard there was a weather warning for Scotland and Northern Ireland!

pigleychez · 19/12/2009 16:08

hiya,

Sounds like snow is getting to loadsa places now. We have no more here (thankfully) but the 4 inches we did have doesnt seem to be going anywhere!
Its very slippy out there now... I nearly went flying earlier when we nipped to the supermarket!

Great to see sure a lovely long list

DD has been such a cutey today. Attempting to her dress herself from the Hats/scarf/gloves box! Came running into the front room with my giant wollen scarf wrapped round her and 2 of her hats on!

Kinda wishing i hadnt got out of bed today. The hormones have been on overtime!
We are currently redecorating the lounge and have ripped out the old fireplace- which was a huge task. Ordered a new one that came last monday. Only unpacked it today to put it up only to find its broken. The wood has all split and is beyond repair. DH phoned the company only to be told as we hadnt reported it within 48 hours it was basically tough! We didnt unpack it when it was delivered as we knew we werent starting it till the weekend and it wasnt practical with a toddler running about. Also seems I shouldnt have signed for it without checking it over- Yeah cause the courier is going to wait for me to unpack it and check it all! Soo soo cross. So we now have to buy a new one from them. They are "kindly" letting us have it at cost but thats still almost £300! Nowhere else seems to have any in the sizes we need.
When the new one arrives (another 2/3 weeks! ) Im not signing for it till ive checked it throughly and will make the courier wait or im not signing anything!!

Rant over!! Sorry ladies.

Den26 · 19/12/2009 17:05

Hi All

Pigley - thats awful, definately make them wait next time.

Congrats to all those having girls!!! I've no word of my 20 weeks scan yet ,only 17+4 here.

If i girl i really like Ruby but DP doesn't, he's convinced its a boy anyway!!!

Mummymunchkins · 19/12/2009 17:27

Pigley I think you should check that what they are saying is legal as I saw a TV show on not getting conned and I don't think they can use the fact that you signed for it against you. not sure about 48 hour thing but worth checking with Citizens Advice Bureau to try save £300. What appalling customer service!

Hollyoaks · 19/12/2009 18:14

pigley I'm sure there is no time limit to return goods if they are broken, damaged, not working etc... You don't even have to have proof of purchase so I can't see that what the company are saying is legal. I'm sure its under the consumer act of 1972 (or something like that ). Google it, my sil had to quote it once when Next refused to refund a broken bottle of their perfume she had received as a gift as she had no reciept. Worked so worth a try.

Lots of snow here, dd will be out on the sledge tomorrow.

memorylapse · 19/12/2009 18:16

pigley..they are pulling a fast one

As you might expect, the supplier is under obligation to ensure the goods are well protected while they are in transit. The supplier must also make sure the delivery company/courier are aware that the goods are fragile or if they are to be kept or carried in a certain way. If they do not, they will be liable for any damage occurred in transit.

It is common for traders to sidestep liability by saying that you signed for them. A delivery note (as the name suggests) indicates merely that the product has been delivered and not that they have been accepted. If there is a problem with the goods, you may still reject them, particularly if you haven?t previously had a chance to examine them in person. With some items you will be asked to inspect the goods there and then and sign a form to say that they have arrived in satisfactory condition. The law states that you should have reasonable opportunity to examine the goods for yourself, so you could argue that ?there and then? is not reasonable and opt not to sign the form. You should however look at the supplier?s Ts and Cs to see whether they have imposed any time limit on reporting faults ? although in line with the law, this should be reasonable.

It should be pointed out that if you did have the chance to examine the goods while they still in the shop, and you spot something wrong when it arrives that you should have spotted when you examined it, you may not be able to reject it. Although in reality, most shops will show some good will if you simply want to exchange it for another

memorylapse · 19/12/2009 18:58

just in case anyone is vaguely interested..Ive stuck a pic of my 20 week bump taken today on my profile..excuse the mess in the background..weve started packing the bedroom up

HeffaMerryChristmas · 19/12/2009 18:59

Pigley - that's terrible, and doesn't sound right at all. Looks like Memorylapse knows what she's talking about

Pamelat - I know what you mean about relaxing, I can barely remember the days when there wasn't a LO to look after, must have been nice Although having DH around is a huge help.

Hollyoaks · 19/12/2009 19:07

Wow ML, I hope you don't mind me saying but that is a huge bump .

Hello all. Just adding myself to list. Haven't been on for while so nice to hear everyone ok. Got my scan on Monday (20+1) hoping to find out what flavour we're getting this time. Having a rubbish time in RL as dad been diagnosed with cancer (again - third time) this time it's terminal .
Looking forward to seeing him over Christmas - wish they didn't live quite so far away.

wibblela · 19/12/2009 20:02

oh alexw that's awful Wish there was more I could add...

ML I agree with Hollyoaks your bump is impressive I've hardly started showing yet, but this is my first and not my fifth!!!

Pigley It really does sound like you are being conned by the company! Memorylapse has given some really good info and advice - you should definitely talk to an independent body like the Citizens Advice Bureau.

DH and I are staying at home this Christmas - decided that the long journey to London would be too much for me. Really feel for those about to embark on plane journeys - have lots of admiration for you girls!

I was so certain when I found out that I was pg that we wouldn't find out the sex but I am severly waivering now! I am so impatient that I want to know... Is anyone else waivering?

ForcesSweetheart · 19/12/2009 20:46

Alexw so sorry to hear about your poor dad. Hope you get some time with him over christmas.

ml I'm SO glad you posted that pic of your bump. I was really getting concerned that mine was huge for my dates but as we're due same time yours is very reassuring lol. I'd say that under all my fat mine is probably about the same size as yours.

TomlinTowers · 19/12/2009 22:34

Schipo - they are good names !

Prams - I have a travel system from Mamas and Papas, it is about two years old, but was in the cream with red spots. I bought mine and then Laurel had on on Emmerdale - I had to keep telling people she was copying me! Never saw another one like it. I will be dusting it down again this time - it does pram, chair etc. The only downside it is big to fit in the car, so you can't put it in a run-around car.

The only pushchair I would steer clear of would be the Silver Cross Pop - we got one when DS1 outgrew the M&P, and it has been terrible. The wheels just don't go where you want them to!

Pigley - you have 28 days under the Supply and Goods and Services Act (I think) to return faulty goods. If the goods are in OK condition then it's different, but you have statutory rights to return faulty goods. Have a look round the web, but I'm pretty sure that the supplier has a duty to supply goods that are fit for purpose, and if they don't, then you entitled under law to return them within 28 days. If there's nothing in the net, then get down to the CAB asap, and in the meantime, ring the company and tell them you are taking legal advice about your rights, and that you don't accept the goods (to prevent them arguing that you accepted the faults). Hope that helps (and it's right!).

TomlinTowers · 19/12/2009 23:27

PS That doesn't count as formal legal advice (just in case it's wrong so no-one can sue me!)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 19/12/2009 23:51

Alex, so sorry about your bad news, how awful to have that diagnosis just before christmas too. Hope you're ok.

Memorylapse, that's quite a bump! Mine feels quite compact underneath my fat tummy. I may post a pic of me at 38 weeks last time - I was enormous but no-one ever guessed I was pregnant!

Feeling lots of round ligament pains at the moment, aching in the bump when I walk etc. Dp has started fussing over me a bit which is nice.

memorylapse · 20/12/2009 00:00

Tomlin..your pram sounds like the afternoon tea design..I have admired that one on ebay.

Forces..Ive seen your profile pic and you look fab..Im sure I have more layers of flab than you

Pigley...by the way my advice is gleaned from DH who is in retail management and can therefore recite the sale of goods act in his sleep

Alex..Im so sorry to hear about your dad..what awful news to get just before christmas.

Just got back from DH'S works do and lost count of how many said.."ooh you cant have long to go"..then looked when I told then how long

ForcesSweetheart · 20/12/2009 11:08

ml thanks for saying it but I wouldn't count on that! My pics are very deceptive. I carry ALL my weight on my tummy where I've been left with a huge apron of fat and skin from my weight loss - I try to wear clothes that disguise it well. I'm only 5ft 3in and currently weigh 13st 7lb (bmi 33). I've gained exactly 10lb so far in this pregnancy (which I'm trying not to stress about as baby corner's pregnancy weight gain calculator says that's bang on target for my bmi/dates. I'd be really proud of a neat bump like yours Can't really show mine off because the apron is hanging directly below the bump and just looks vile.
