Hi everyone

Welcome back pamelat of course we remember you! Sorry to hear your Grandad is very ill.
My DS is 2 next week and sounds similar to your DD, very much knows his own mind and is having wee tantrums when he is frustrated. THankfully he is being kinder to his big sis (she will be 4 in Feb) but maybe that's because she is being nicer to him hmm!

Katnkittens hope your 20wk scan went well today.

I am now 20+5 and have been having some much stronger kicks, DH felt one last night which was great. Its reassuring and helps me bond with the bump.
I didn't get my Swine flu jab again. I was too late phoning the nurse to confirm I was coming in so I will get it next tuesday instead. I am still a bit in two minds about it as I am so worried of something happening to baby if I take it (the Celvapan one).

welcome to everyone new to the thread

pigleychez · 17/12/2009 15:30

Had my MW appointment today and now have a feeling of Dejavu!

I had Sugar in my sample and High blood pressure. Exactly the same as with DD. I had sugar in my samples the whole time yet my Diabetes test came back fine. My blood pressure was high too and I was constantly being sent up to the hospital miles away for monitoring. Would spend an hour or 2 strapped to the monitor then get sent home as all was fine. Fine last time being my first but i really cant be doing that with a 16mth old. If im laying on the bed attached to machines she will be free to do her worst! Nightmare.

I now have to go back in 3 weeks to be checked again and maybe changed to high risk and sent to see a consultant. Everything is much harder with number 2 and no family nearby to help with childcare.

DD got upset when I lay on the bed so the MW could hear the heartbeat so she put her next to me on the bed. DD lifted up her top wanting a go too! Heartbeat was nice and clear and baby was kicking away at the doppler.

Pamlet- I sympathise as DH's nan has been in hospital the past week too. Thankfully shes making a great improvement since having her pacemaker and should be coming out tomorrow!

wibblela · 17/12/2009 15:45

Hi everyone (c: Sorry to hear about your grandad pamelat, hope he is home for Christmas, and that your scan lifts your family's spirits.

Saw my GP this morning, and despite not giving any pain meds (which I guess is understandable), he did put me back on Omeprazole A much smaller dose than before, which was my suggestion, I don't want to be taking too much, but at least the Omeprazole is going to be better than the non-effective Peptac!

ForcesSweetheart · 17/12/2009 16:39

Welcome to all the newbies!

LolaAnn am so that you can feel baby kicking on the outside. I reckon I'll be nearing due before it gets through the amount of flab on my tummy!

Been a busy week here too. Have had my folks visiting from Glasgow, Lola's nativity play, Mess Xmas ball etc. All this while I'm feeling really rotten. Getting a lot of nausea and vomitting and now a rotten cold. Have been signed off work til the New Year.
Had 20 wk scan on Tuesday and I saw the 3 white lines before they had to tell me - so it's another girl (bump henceforth to be known as MollyBump). DH and my family are all over the moon, as they all wanted another girl, and Lola's chuffed to bits coz she doesn't like boys "coz they splash me and hit me!". I wasn't fussed, woulda kinda liked to experience having a boy but happy either way (and it'll be a heckuva lot cheaper as we have everything for a girl already). They couldn't get a clear view of all 4 heart chambers but everything else looked fine. I will be having a detailed foetal heart scan in a coupla weeks anyway because i'm diabetic so they hope to get a much better look then. Got about a dozen scan pics, a couple of spooky ones of her looking like she was staring straight through my tummy at us. Have posted one on profile. Apparently placenta has attached on back wall - dunno if that's good, bad or indifferent!

hobnob congrats on the almost certain girl lol. We asked our sonographers (one was a trainee) how sure they were and they said "we're not allowed to say 100%, but if we were we would - you saw the 3 white lines yourself" (indicating female bits).

ml at the troll! Bet you get them everywhere. I'm sure mumsnet must have its fair share. Good luck for the scan tomorrow. Hope you get to find out the sex.

Sweetkitty we bought a 7 seater a month or two ago when I wrote off our estate car. It's a Ford Galaxy, and takes a bit of getting used to but after a week or two felt fine to drive. Doesn't half guzzle the petrol though!

Re prams, I've bought a Bebe Loola Confort from ebay as I really like the idea of just a chassis/frame that the carseat clicks into. Just need to get a creatis base to fix in the car now and we're all sorted. I also bought a Mamas & Papas entire travel system with in-car base and everything from ebay just coz it was about to end at a tenner with no bids and I couldn't resist the bargain. May end up sticking it back on ebay though if I get on OK with the Loola. All we really need now is a baby gym, a cot and a high chair - but won't need the cot or highchair til Mollys at least 6 mths so no rush there.

congrats on your wee girl katnkittens. Seems to be a lot of us around!

Sorry your grandad's in a bad way pamelat. Must be a really hard time for you all. My grandad's really ill but they got to bring him home and now we're just hoping he holds out til we get up to Glasgow next week to see him one last time. He's got severe dementia and is on high doses of morphine to keep him comfortale so probably won't know we're there, but still..

AnAngelWithin · 17/12/2009 17:08

oh more newbies!!! Welcome!!!

Forcessweetheart thats fab!! Little molly !!!

Sweetkitty, we have got a zafira and its great, not as 'minibus' like as other 7 seaters.

Pamelat, sorry to hear about your grandad.

Seems to be lots of little girls at the moment then!! I think this one is going to be a girl, though I am undecided wether to have a gender scan or not!! I have very little baby stuff left, (i sold it thinking that if i got rid, i would resist the urge to have another...that workd ) but any I have got left, carset prams etc is all pink!!!

OP posts:
HeffaMerryChristmas · 17/12/2009 17:38

Pamelat - congratulations on your move, sorry to hear about your grandad

Pigley - sorry to hear about the high BP. I had exactly the same problems last time (and have high BP already this time). Would you be able to arrange for a sensible agreement so that you don't wind up being sent into hospital all the time?

ForcesSweetheart - congratulations on your little girl, I love the scan pic

pamelat · 17/12/2009 19:57

pigley, sorry to hear about your problems, hope you start to feel better and get some rest soon.

bright red balloon, you have just "reminded" me that I have had the swine flu jab! I had the pandemrix one too, despite swearing I would not. I had it because of hospital visits and becoming a little paranoid about contracting swine flu. I am now worried that there could be an affect on baby bean but my instincts told me it would be ok (not that I could live with myself if it isn't )

If we have another girl we have a lovely name picked out, we like Maisie. I know its a bit Maisie mouse but I love it. Not telling anyone in real life as don't think they will like it.

If we have a boy, we live Alex.

Nice to "catch up" with you all. Congrats on all the 20 weeks scans.

Hollyoaks · 17/12/2009 21:41

Kat & forces congrats on girls

pamelat & heffa sorry to hear your grandparents are unwell, hopefully you get to spend some time with them over christmas.

DD is 2 in January and starting to turn into a terrible 2 already. She has a tantrum when she can't get her own way and has started telling strangers in cafes to 'sit down now!' in a very loud voice if they dare to stand up. I'm sure thats quite off putting for strangers but we can't help but giggle.

No news from 16 week bloods which I'm assuming is good news, mw said she would contact me within a few days if I was in the high risk catergory. Blood taken on monday and nothing yet so think I'm in the clear.

Felt two definite kicks tonight in the same place, so think thats my first real movement felt at 16+3. Second baby though, didn't feel dd till about 19 weeks.

Welcome to the newbies, I think we need an updated list to add everyone and their babies genders on. Hope everyone is well.

Hollyoaks · 17/12/2009 21:45

Namewise, at the minute its Matilda, Milly or Grace for a girl and William or Joseph for a boy.

pamelat love maisie, we're finding some peoples reactions slightly annoying as they're not afraid to give their opinion and although it shouldn't affect our decision it really puts us off.

Hobnobfanatic · 17/12/2009 23:07

Forces - what three white lines? I'm being very dense, I'm sure, but do spell it out!

Pamelat - i love Maisie - and all your choices, Hollyoaks! Love Molly too. We're opting for something Welsh, but need to wade through some books to find something unusual but pronounceable to any non-Welsh speakers.

Pigley - sorry to hear your news. It's a nightmare when you don't have close family nearby. I'm of those who live with family close to hand - must be a godsend. All my lot are at least a two-hour drive away... `i did have to laugh at your LO lifting her top, ready for her turn with the doppler. Aw, bless!

SweetKitty - I have a Zafira. It's a great five-seater with a huge boot, or a comfy seven-seater with no boot. Very versatile and great for lugging buggies, shopping, dog etc, as well as passengers. Also very handy at the moment, as I'm obviously the nominated driver for any crimbo nights out - you can pack in a lot of people!

I have an appt with the obstetric physio in the New Year, as I've felt the beginning twinges of SPD. I really, really couldn't cope if it returns with the full force I had last pregnancy. I spent the last couple of months in tears and was quite crippled. And I'm back to Pilates in Jan, too, with a fab teacher who is very pg-minded. Hopefully it will all help to keep the pain at bay - during the pregnancy and after.

TomlinTowers · 17/12/2009 23:32

Hi everyone and welcome to the newbies! The new list will be huge!

Really lovely to hear everyone's names -we have a Harry Joseph already, and this little one will either be Sophie Elizabeth/Sophie Mae (haven't quite decided) or Jack William. Have always loved the name Jack, but DH wanted to name firstborn son after his father who died when DH fairly young. Can't really argue with that!

Pigley - sorry to hear that the same issues are cropping up again. Will they make any allowances for the fact that you were OK the first time round, so chances are you will be again?

Mollybob - your appointment sounds like a nightmare!

Sorry to hear about relatives who are ill, particularly at Xmas, it always seems worse at this time of year for some reason, but hopefully it will mean you can get to spend some time with them.

We have snow here! Really hope it sticks around for tomorrow so DS1 can have a play in it. DH tried to build a snowman outside earlier to surprise DS1 with in the morning (he has been out for a drink with mates) but came in because it was too cold - wimp! Last day at work tomorrow as well and then have two weeks off for Xmas - cannot wait!!

Carikube · 18/12/2009 08:34

Morning everyone and welcome to all the newbies,

Haven't been around much recently to post as it's been a bit of a rubbish week. DD has now developed a hacking cough that is keeping her awake so I'm taking her to the GP this pm; I'm just hoping she hasn't got a chest infection but the noise she's been making in her cot has been heartbreaking.

I'm loving the names that are being mentioned on here. We won't be finding out the sex but have already decided on William Frederick (left over from when I had dd!) or Jennifer something for the name this time round. People in RL are getting fed up of me refusing to tell them what we've chosen but it just doesn't feel right telling them iykwim....

ForcesSweetheart · 18/12/2009 09:24

hobnob 3 white lines is what u see between legs on a scan to indicate girly bits. I researched it all with dd as was so keen to know. Looked at sample scans oonline so i knew what to look out for.

ForcesSweetheart · 18/12/2009 09:30

itshappenedagain · 18/12/2009 11:18

some of you are so prepared thinking of names already. Im conting down the days until i go to my mums she hasnt seen me in a few weeks so will notice the difference asnow have a definite bump compared to last time i was just a bit flabby!
hope all who have illness in the family get better soon.

we have had a bit of snow here, which seems to have frozen overnight so will be a bit more carful when taking Ds to playgroup today.
wil be finishing the alst of the wrapping tonight nad the final blitz of the house so all will be sorted! just ahve to put the bits into the bag befroe monday then.

is anyone else so excited about christmas? DS just makes me more excited as his face lights up everytime i talk about it!

must admit i am starting to waver on finding out the sex if possible...i amy even just find out and not tell.( well in RL anyway!)

hormonalmum · 18/12/2009 13:01

Hello!

Can I join the May thread? I have been wondering about joining but as I had 20 week scan this week its about time I did!

I will be 34 when this lo arrives. have a dd (4) and ds (2) Due 3rd May

memorylapse · 18/12/2009 13:33

I cant keep up with this thread!

welcome to all newbies and congrats on your pregnancies

no snow here..thank goodness..as am going for a private scan this evening..Dh doesnt want to know the sex so has threatened to sit outside the scan room

is anyone else in maternity clothes? Ive posted a thread as I cannot find over the bump trousers anywhere as everywhere is sold out..and my existing trousers are struggling to cope!

we have officially taken over the tenancy of the other house and are now slowly moving stuff in..I cant wait to move now.
anyone else working over christmas?? I will be..even new years eve

pigleychez · 18/12/2009 13:41

Forces- for your baby girl!

Thanks for the comments- If they star wanting me to go for monitoring I shall trying to arrange something else with her thats more practical... even waiting at the surgery for an hour and having my bp done at intervals would be easier.
I obviously dont wanna risk this bubba at all either so its finding a balance.

Hollyoaks- yay for feeling kicks

Hormonalmum- Welcome

Have had heavy snow here overnight. I was up at 2am with DD as she finally has her 3rd tooth coming through. Bout time really at 16mths!! Its a top front one so looks really cute poking through.
DH thought I was crazy taking pictures out the window at 2am.
By morning we had reached 4 inches. DD and I went for a little play outside. She liked the snow but wasnt keen on actually touching it!

Re names- I think we would still go with our orginal boys name choices as we didnt use them last time, so boys would be Matthew George. Matthew is DH's middle name.
Girls is more tricky. We both like Emily but a friend has just called her newborn that. The other name we both currently agree on is Holly.

memorylapse · 18/12/2009 13:46

pigley..sorry missed the bit about your bp..im guessing you will need frequent MW visits now?

BTW I have a Matthew and an Emily

I have not even thought about names....

SquirtsMum · 18/12/2009 13:47

oooooo may i join please

due 4th May 2010, this is baby #1

cheers xx

Has any one else had tonnes of snow? Had our work Christmas party last night and went on my own as DH hates social events. 30 min journey there, took me over 2 hours to get home in blizzards. Had to detour round 1 jacknifed lorry and queue past another stuck one. I didn't get in till about midnight, (and seriously thought I might have to spend the night in the car on the A505) and the road I was stuck on for so long was officialy blocked by the time I got up at 7am.
DH was v worried, and kept ringing me every 15mins, and was also v cross that I stayed for pudding (but it was so yummy)after he rang and told me to leave cos of bad weather.

Cith · 18/12/2009 14:47

Hi everyone,
Wow - not had chance to get on MN since Monday and this thread has been very busy!
zarha, myfirstbump, 5isanawfullybignumber, hormonalmum and squirtsmum - welcome to you all

Has been manic here (as for everyone else on this thread it seems) with Christmas functions etc.. and trying to get ready to fly home to Australia tomorrow morning - yipee [dgrin]. Feeling very disorganised. A friend who has recently had a baby told me today that you are supposed to tell the airline when you are pregnant and take a medical certificate! It thought it was just when you were past 26 weeks! EEEK no time to get med cert now! Should I just keep quiet? Am 19 weeks2 days but still don't really have a bump so people probably wouldn't know if I didn't tell them...

Exciting to hear about all the scans and suggested names! Am really looking forward to the 20 week scan (at 23 weeks!) as haven't really been feeling anything and not really showing properly so would really like to know that everything is ok!
