fiveisanawfullybignumber · 16/12/2009 09:19

Hi, newish here. Can I join in please?
Due No 5 on 14th May, (although will probs be induced about 10 days early:-)
I'm 37 (I think, have been getting muddled the last few years.) Already have 2 DS's, 17 & 8, and 2 DD's, 15 and nearly 18m.
Yes no 5 was an accident but, hell, whatever, we'll deal with but hubby WILL be getting neutered next year!!!

Hobnobfanatic · 16/12/2009 10:11

Wibblea - yes, I'm glad it's winter. With DD1 I was heavily pregnant during the hottest summer on record in 2003. It was hell - and I hardly slept a wink at night. Really awful!

I have no advice on sickness, I'm afraid. I felt dreadful until about 17 weeks - have felt less nauseous recently.

BRB - I felt jittery before my first Celvapan, too. But I've had none of the side effects that others have had with Pandemrix and now can't wait for the second one. I'm so nervous about getting SF, I just want to be protected now!

So disappointed there's noi snow here yet. We're rural, high up, and often get it when villages even half a mile away don't. It would be a logisitic PITA (no shops etc, visiting people for crimbo), but it would be sooooo Xmassy! Though I'm that I'll be missing any sledging if it does snow... Anyone here got the white stuff?

Hobnobfanatic · 16/12/2009 10:12

And welcome to 5isanawfullybignumber!

Vicky204 · 16/12/2009 10:36

Hey there

Only just found this thread, can I join, I'm due May 15th.

Have 2nd scan on 7th Jan which can't wait for, just to check everything's ok, as so far I seem to have had a very easy pregnancy, which makes me nervous as normally I'm ill all the time, and catch all bugs going, however i've had no morning sickness or over tiredness or anything.

Can't believe I'll be exactly half way on Boxing day - this is my first so very excited!

HeffaMerryChristmas · 16/12/2009 10:40

Welcome 5isanawfullybignumber and Vicky204.

Hobnobfanatic - I'd love snow too! We're just next to Dartmoor so if it's going to snow in the area, it will snow here No sign yet though, although it feels like it might - that sort of cold and a very weird sky. Probably just wishful thinking though! Although if it snows heavily on Christmas Day I'll be stuck here all day with my ILs .

Vicky204 · 16/12/2009 10:47

forgot to day 34, first baby, sex unknown

Divster · 16/12/2009 10:50

Hello everyone. I was on the first thread, but kind of never had anything to write about so have been dropped off the list.

Anyway wanted to ask if anyone else has not felt any movements yet? I am 18+2

schipo · 16/12/2009 10:55

Well just started snowing in central London - nowhere to sledge though even if it does lie which rarely happens. It was funny earlier in the year when it did for first time in anyone's living memory. Everything stopped except for those of us unlucky enough to live close enough to work to walk, and then we had to walk through gangs of teenagers who thought it was fine to throw snow balls at anyone passing

According to metcheck.com though looks like we should expect a white xmas. Think there's a good chance they might actually be right up dales where I'm heading.

Re pushchairs - you don't have to fold them on london buses normally - there's space for two buggies on them all I think but its not a huge space. I'm wondering though if I should worry less about it - I might be in less of a rush and happier to spend day walking when baby arrives..?

Welcome to #5. My SIL has just announced she's having a surprise 5th at age of 44. She has 4 x DS's already - ranging in age from 25 to 8! Of course everyone is wondering if this one will be a girl.

schipo · 16/12/2009 11:04

x post - welcome back to divster and to vicky204 - help yourselves to the list.

Vicky204 - your pregnancy sounds much like mine. I was worried about not being or even feeling sick, but now bump is growing and I've got through one scan I'm less worried. Next scan is on 7th for me too and I'm sure I'll have started worrying again by then

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 16/12/2009 12:36

Divster, don't worry, this baby is positively comatose compared to the others, not even felt a flutter yet, but midwife heard heart so just a couple of lazy babies I think.
Schipo, thankfully I have two of each so nobody thinks we're after a particular flavour, although if I get another hyperactive boy, I've told hubby it's going back, and not in me!!

MoggMum · 16/12/2009 12:42

Welcome to all the Newbies. Divster I'm 18+3 and have not felt any movement either although as it's my first I think this is fairly normal. Looking forward to my scan on 29th Dec to check all is ok. We've decided not to find out the sex although everyone's convinced I'm having a girl for some reason!

schipo congrats to your SIL - will be nice to have 2 LO's close together. My SIL is trying for another and my Sis is trying for her third at age 44. Think I've got them both broody but as this may be my only one it would be lovely for he/she to have cousins of a similar age!

Hope everyone else is ok, my morning sickness seems to be getting better although I'm really tired and emotional at the moment and keep rowing with DH . My new found Xmas spirit is dwindling by the day!

HeffaMerryChristmas · 16/12/2009 14:20

Schipo - if you don't have to fold it then a Bugaboo might be OK. Mine certainly looks smaller than most buggies I see around but everyone here has a travel system (rural market town, we all walk everywhere) so buggies are pretty big generally. When DD was small, she would only sleep in the buggy so I'd be out for hours every day, desperately finding more places to walk. Congratulations to your SIL

MoggMum - sorry you're feeling a bit down.

Re movement: AFAIK it's reasonably normal not to feel anything at this stage, especially if it's your first. If you're concerned then ask your MW, they're probably happy to help.

itshappenedagain · 16/12/2009 14:48

hello everyone!
nice to see more newbies...and more and more people passing the halfway post.

With Ds (1st) i found i knew the exact date for when everyhting was, read ever book, im not like that with this one...has the novilty worn off? or is it just that i have another person to keep track of this time? i forget at time that i am actually pregnant, until i do something such as run up the stairs or try and strap Ds into his car seat. i couldnt even tell you how may weeks/days i am...my friend is due 2 weeks after me and she knows and this is her 2nd too. am i just rubbish? or has anyone else found this with subsequent pregnancies?

Vicky204 · 16/12/2009 15:44

Divster - I'm 18 + 4 and have't felt anything yet either, again my first so maybe it's natural, when they did my first scan it was sleeping so maybe I've got a sleepy baby, that needs a bit of waking up. I'm sat here waiting to feel that first kick but I bet in a few weeks time I'll be wanting it to calm down.

Schipo glad to hear you had similar pregnancy, my best friend has just had a baby and had all the "normal symptoms" and keeps saying have you had felt like this or had this happen, and each time the answer is no, so glad to hear I'm still quite normal. Likewise suddenly gone from having barely anything to quite a distinct bump now, although everyone keeps telling me how small I am, got a feeling I'll balloon over Christmas though!

I like you itshappenedagain almost don't feel pregnany except the breathlessness and I can't run up the stairs to at a time anymore as I think my balance has shifted as I wobble a bit like I might fall back!

Congrats to everyone who's halfway there now and apparently at the best point of pregnancy for Christmas and the New Year!

Mummymunchkins · 16/12/2009 16:09

Hi all

Haven't been on in a little while been so busy packing. On Sunday we are going to my Mum and Dad's in Cumbria for Christmas. They don't have broadband or internet oh no! Will have to catch up on everyone's news when we get back.

Welcome Zarha and myfirstbump sorry about the sickness mine has just started to ease off at 18-19 weeks, but I still wear the sea sickness bands which help. Not much else helped me. except fizzy water with squash and fizzy drinks helped a bit.

Zarha be careful you don't get dehydrated if you really can't keep anything down you should consider the doctor's advice. I have heard that the drug cyclizine is ok to take in pregnancy.

schipo and brightredballoon my bump also getting bigger. my naval has justed started to look stretched too!

schipo would highly recommend Maclaren for on buses I think a bugaboo probably does fit on a bus just, but not as easily as a Maclaren as the bugaboo is wider and has bigger wheels which are spaced wider apart and it is not easy to fit a bugaboo next to another buggy if there is already one on the bus. Also if you want baby to face you the Mclaren Techno XLR has a carry cot that you can attach to the puschchair (although it looks quite small so not sure how long it would last if you had a big baby) or a car seat that attaches to the pushchair. I plan to get the XLR this time it has a lovely soft liner that can be removed for washing and it comes with a cosy toes and it goes back virtually completely flat so can be used for new born. Also the seat on the bugaboo and similar are quite small so don't last a child so long. Hope this helps.

wibblela · 16/12/2009 18:26

Hi

Nice that there are still people being added Welcome

I am at you guys whose bump is bigger now! Mine's not! If I weren't so vocal and excited about it people wouldn't know! You can barely see anything! I am obese anyway, so people just accept the size I am. I want a T-Shirt that says "I'm not fat, I'm pregnant!"

I think I should sign off now, and eat some chocolate - it is a necessity you understand

Den26 · 16/12/2009 20:25

Evening all!! Welcome to those who have joined us or returned!!!

Zarha - Kind of know where you are coming from, i had a miscarriage in july too. I am now 17+1 which is great, is still scary though and don't think i'll ever completely relax

Just to up date you all re 20 wk scan - i spoke to my other MW earlier this week and she said she would look into it for me. She has spoken to my consultant who just said go ahead and book it so just waiting on date coming through - yeah!!!

Re bump - work commented that bump looked huge the other day. Seems more noticable this week. I do however feel pretty uncomfortable like full of air (or ?wind sorry tmi!!)

Just reading post everyone sounds sooo busy!!! My hats off to everyone juggling children, working, moving house and christmas organising!!!

mollybob · 16/12/2009 21:08

Hi all - i'm on 3 drugs re sickness and still puky a few days a week (yesterday and Monday so hope am due a couple of good ones) Hunger and tiredness make it worse and if another person suggests ginger nuts I'll stick some ginger nuts where the sun don't shine (mad, grumpy pregnant woman emoticon)

Having a tough week at work this week but next 2 weeks a bit more civilised - done most of my xmas shopping online though.

Was at antenatal clinic today and met horrid, horrid midwife who went on and on about how I should only be seeing the consultant as I'm for consultant led care (only because I'm fat, I'm otherwise healthy and 2 normal deliveries with no antenatal or postnatal complications - except puking++++ albeit a few years ago - 1998 and 2001) I was given the sodding appointment, had to get out of work which is a huge hassle as work bedlam at the moment and I knew everything was fine - hardly my bloody fault I was there. I hate hospitals and antenatal appointments and really want to hide from it all - stresses me out so much. Then the dozy cow couldn't find baby's heart as she was too high up - you'd think she'd know the size of a 17 week bump. I can access a doppler at work (really good quality one) and have found the heart every week from 10 weeks no problem. So we had to get another midwife in to do a quick scan - baby fine. I know I should be pleased to have an extra bonus scan but I hate the invasiveness of it all (Baby looked cute though )

pigleychez · 16/12/2009 21:12

Zarha- Welcome aboard
No tips here. Ive been getting very random sickness which is most anooying!

Happenedagain- We already have everything we need for bubba from DD. Do feel abit sad though as I really enjoyed all the buy last time. I did buy one little white dungaree set the other day that I fell in love with though!

Firstbump- Welcome
I didnt really have a clue with DD and dont really have any ideas with this one either. Dont mind which sex though so im easily pleased.

Schipo- No idea about London buses. I have a Cosatto Mobi which I think is now called Budi.
Was one of only a few that faced rearward at the time and had the carrycot I wanted. Quite wide wheels with the wheels though.

Im loving my over the bump jeans with this cold weather! Keeps bump nice and warm!

Five- Welcome
Theres quite a few of us on here with a LO around the 18mth mark. Must be something about thier first birthdays making everyone broody again. Heffa,Sweetkitty, and I all have July 08 babies and were all on the same antental/postnatal threads on here

Vicky204- Welcome too
My first pregnancy was like that too, pretty plain sailing, but i seem to be making up for it this time round!

Divster- Welcome back!
Im 18 weeks too and have only felt movements the past few weeks.

Moggmum- Im with you on the feeling over emotional.

Have my 16 week check up tomorrow although im actually 18 weeks this week. My MW is always so busy!

Had a few snow flurries here today but not enough to settle. Weather forcasts suggests we will get quite a covering on Friday though. Ventured out today and it was soooo freezing!

katnkittens · 17/12/2009 01:22

Hi guys,

Long time no chat but I pop in sometimes and am pleased I haven't dropped off the list!

I had a private gender scan 3 weeks ago and found out I am having a GIRL! I already have a DS and 2 DDs so poor DS (aged 13) is a bit mortified... he'll get over it!

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow which I'm both excited and nervous about. At my gender scan they confirmed I have an anterior placenta which I was relieved about as I haven't felt much kicking. I have definitely felt a few actual kicks but more often it's more like squirming. I'm hoping the proper kicks start soon!

It's reassuring to hear a lot of you haven't felt loads either... plus I have a little more 'padding' this time round which may be affecting things!

HeffaMerryChristmas · 17/12/2009 08:27

Den26 - congratulations on getting the scan, that's great

Mollybob - sorry you had a rubbish appointment, I hate it when people make a big deal out of weight . Nice to get a bonus scan though!

Pigley - hope your 16 week appointment goes well today. It is so cold outside at the moment, it almost puts me off going out.

Katnkittens - congratulations on a little girl Is your DS the oldest? Then he'll have lots of little sisters to look up to him.

pigleychez · 17/12/2009 11:08

Must of x post with a few of you.

Den- Yay for getting the extra scan.

Molly- Theres always one horrible midwife isnt there. Sadly I experienced mine on the postnatal ward after having DD. Hoping not to see her again this time!

Kitten- Congrats on the girl

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 17/12/2009 11:41

schipo, Bugaboo Bee would be better for your needs than the cameleon. It's as small as a maclaren but you can keep bubba facing you as long as you want to. I find them a bit low down compared to most prams, but for London busses should be great. I work for an independant nursery goods retailer so get to see lots of different prams etc.

pamelat · 17/12/2009 12:45

I am so sorry for the 2 weeks or so that I have not posted on here. Basically for anyone that remembers me we moved house and had internet problems. We bought an internet dongle but we do not have a very good reception. I am normally a mumsnet addict but it currently takes 20 minutes (!!) to log on and its incredibly slow. Will have to resort to BT in the New Year.

I have not been able to read all of the posts. A lot happens in here in 2 weeks but I hope you are all well?

I have my 20 week scan next Weds. Convinced having a boy, slight preference for another girl but really really does not matter. I think its because I can not "imagine" having a boy.

DD is playing me up a lot at the moment. She is 23 months so I guess its to be expected. She is driving me crazy and is very strong willed/assertive and always making a mess. I am sure that I would be coping better with her if I was not pregnant. Poor girl.

My grandad is very ill with cancer so its been a traumatic few weeks really. Am hoping that our scan next week gives everyone in my family something happier to think about. At the moment our evenings are just hospital visits, bless him. We really want him home for Chrsitmas but I can't see it happening as he is on various drips.

Mummymunchkins · 17/12/2009 13:15

Den26 congratulations on getting your scan thst's great news.

Pamelat sorry to hear about your grandad. Know what you me about your DD I have two DS who are 3 and 18 months and they drive me carzy too and I am sure I would have more patience and tolerance if I wasn't pregnant!
