Well I never made it to my foetal heart scan due to the snow. I started out on road to Salisbury but it was just a nightmare so turned back. Ended up unable to get my car back into our estate so had to lug bags of shopping (emergency supplies of milk and baking products I'd picked up at the local garage) the rest of the way home through inches of snow.

ML I'm really surprised you're having the heart scan too. Thought that was just related to blood sugars at time of conception. Do they have any concerns that you may have been insulin resistant pre-pregnancy?

Congrats to all those who've had positive scans. Good to see the boys and girls starting to even out a bit!

wibble sorry to hear your having a hard time with your sugars. There are a couple of us in a similar boat here. I was type 2 diabetic pre-pregnancy and am taking metformin. So far my sugars are doing great, touch wood, but the consultant thinks it's too good to continue much longer and that I'll need to go on insulin eventually. If you've any questions about any of the diabetes stuff just shout, as I've already been through a diabetic pregnancy with DD too so may be able to help.

Congrats on the proposal den26 what a lovely surprise.

tinylion very brave choice. Hope it all goes as you want. I know what you mean about huge boobs. Really noticed this last night. I've lost 10 stone since having DD and my boobs had become very saggy and kinda empty, last night I was getting undressed for a bath and they just looked and felt massive! They seem to have suddenly filled out overnight. Really hoping this is a good sign for bf'ing this time round. Had real trouble last time and lactation consultant thought it was telling that I hadn't noticed any changes in my boobs during pregnancy.

ForcesSweetheart · 06/01/2010 12:27

Radiology just phoned with another appt for next Wednesday. A whole week to wait . Bloomin roads better be clear!

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 06/01/2010 13:02

Happy belated New Year to everyone. been a bit busy here with Chicken Pox, work and constant visits to and from Inlaws!

Congrats to everyone on their scans. Lots of girls, here's hoping that I follow suit. My boys are giving me trouble at the moment!

ML sorry about all you're going through, not easy on top of being pregnant.

Grobags/sleeping bags are fab, DD2 (18m) likes to party all over her cot bed, but stays nice and warm in her grobag. I have the one that you can use in the carseat as well, as we are often over at the inlaws and put her in it to drive home. Just lift and place in bed on return. [need smug emoticon]

SK good luck for the 9th, my scan's tomorrow. The best piece of advice for a shock boy result is watch for the wiggle when nappy changing, and wear glasses for protection. They can fire it quite a way. DS1 got me in the face a couple of times, he'd be horrified to hear me say that now he's 17.

pamelat · 06/01/2010 14:18

Went out in the snow again today - DH had GP's appointment this morning, and then we have an asthma nurse appointment for me this afternoon! Has anyone else noticed that their asthma has got worse the bigger they have got?

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 06/01/2010 15:35

Pamelat, sorry for your news, good that granparents knew your good news before though.

sweetkitty · 06/01/2010 16:07

Just trying to catch up

pamelat - sorry to hear of your losses, never easy is it?

Den - congrats on your engagement and having a boy

Forces - bummer about the snow and your scan, I think we might be the same, have to drive into Glasgow on Saturday which is normally a 20min drive but the car wipers have died, I think the front two tyres are bald and theres a bit of plastic hanging down between them, I think it was damaged when DP got stuck on a hill so it's off to the garage and as we all cannot fit into DPs car anyway looks like if it's not back in time we may have to cancel (oh and it's supposed to be about -8 at the weekend)

5IAABN - the pox is no joke, A and T both had it when I was pregnant with B and we were inside for a week, stir crazy alert and then some.

We also have grobags here, well for 18mo DD3 she has been in hers since a year as we cosleep before that, also prevents the littel chubby legs getting caught in the bars and them waking the house up.

Mummymunchkins - congrats on having a boy

wibblela - congrats on a girl too

and congrats anyone else I have missed, am being summoned upstairs to have my hair done for the second time today, bit of a beauty parlour up there today courtesy of DD2 who is normally a real tom boy but likes to be a bit of a hairdresser on the side she's the boy I will never have.

LuckyC · 06/01/2010 16:18

Pamelat so sorry to hear about your losses. How are you holding up?

pigleychez · 06/01/2010 16:31

Oh Pamlet- I know how you feel.. We lost DH's Nan and my Nan within a few weeks of each other a couple of years back. It was very hard
Glad they knew about their little Great grandson though.

For everyone on Facebook- Ive set up a group for us all (think ive done it right anyway!)
Search for Mumsnet May 2010 Babies.

Wiblea- Tried looking for you but theres lots of you! Join the group and ill message it to you

Hope that no-ones too effected by the snow. We are forecast even more tonight so have to see if its another snowday for DH. Had a fab 10 mins in the snow with DH and little DD. She found it very hard walking in the thick snow but loved the snowman DH made for her

Hollyoaks · 06/01/2010 16:49

Pigley - good idea setting up a facebook group, but you may want to make it a private group before anyone posts pictures on there.

More snow forcast here too, probably another snow day for me tomorrow. Hope the chinese will be delivering tonight though as no food in and didn't want to risk driving in this weather.

Hollyoaks · 06/01/2010 16:59

Just requested to join, will you let me in. Hollyoaks aka Laura Roberts

Carikube · 06/01/2010 17:10

Pamelat so sorry to hear your news, but good to know that they knew all about the new LO

Pigley - thanks for setting up that Facebook group; I've just requested to join as well so see you on there

Pregnancy heartburn has just started to kick in today; I've got my request in at the GPs for a repeat prescription of the antacid I had when pg with dd as if I have to buy the stuff myself I'll be bankrupt by the time this one arrives given how much I get through....

wibblela · 06/01/2010 17:44

Pamelat I'm so sorry to hear about your losses - I obviously didn't look at the last page when I posted It's good they both knew the sex though.

Pigleychez Have requested to join the group Hope I've picked the right one

Forcesweetheart it's good to know that I am not on my own It's weird not taking Metformin as I have been taking it for a couple of years and was on the max dose - I have PCOS and therefore and insulin resistance. The docs said there was no evidence to keep PCOS sufferers on metformin when they get pg, although I've read that in that case in can lower the incidence of MC.

The asthma nurse said that I need to see the GP - yet another day when DH and I have to go a medical appointment

MoggMum · 06/01/2010 18:14

pigleychez I've just requested to join the group (initials SM) but not very clued up on all things Facebook so hope I've done it right!?

MoggMum · 06/01/2010 18:17

By the way, we had our FIRST snow fall today but only ended up with about an inch which soon started to melt! Hard to imagine being 'snowed in' here in Dorset

AnAngelWithin · 06/01/2010 18:35

Angel- Hope everythings ok.

Hollyoaks- Hope you get your chinese

AnAngelWithin · 06/01/2010 19:05

pain has gone off now, it was really long and lingering right below my belly button. I was sat eating dinner at the time and it scared DH too Baby was laying across my tummy at the scan yesterday, so maybe it was moving around as its kicking low down now?

OP posts:
myfirstbump · 06/01/2010 19:45

My heart goes out to you Den. I lost my grandad 5 years ago yesterday, my warmest thoughts are with you and DH and your families.

Congratulations on everyone's scans. I had mine today, and thank goodness everything's fine! I've been so afraid of thinking positive thoughts as a friend had lost her baby at the 20week mark. Haven't been able to really let the excitement sink in. Feel so much better now.

Baby boy or girl did some brilliant moves for us (hiding its face behind tiny hands for a lot of the time) so we were quite entertained! Hopefully it's not going to be camera shy for its whole life!

Angel, glad you're feeling better!

myfirstbump · 06/01/2010 19:49

Sorry, meant Pamela not Den. To Den I say massive congratulations!

See what happens when I read too quickly? Why don't I learn?

memorylapse · 06/01/2010 19:58

Den huge congrats on your proposal. Forces so sorry you didnt get to your scan, chuffin weather! They think I was an undiagnosed diabetic before pregnancy as there is a family history and I have kidney and thyroid trouble. Pamela so sorry to hear your sad news

itshappenedagain · 06/01/2010 20:19

pamelat sorry to hear yur news. hope you and family are coping well. My auntie was pg with my cousin when my grandad died, was his only sons first child, he was also glad that they found out.

ML hope all settles down with you and that the next few months are plain sailing.

FS sorry that you didnt get to go to your scan, fingers crossed that it will all have cleared by next week.
