Happy new year all!!

Welcome Nink

Re hot baths, I can't stand them lately anyway!! makes me light headed!!

Will be 20 weeks on monday. Scan on tuesday. Very nervous. Me and dd1 went girly shopping this afternoon for a bit. We went to a baby shop and I have totally fallen in love with a pram I had seen it online but in the flesh....oooooh.....LOVE IT!!!! DH has offered to buy it for me with his overtime money he gets this month

just been over to the new house to take some stuff over..quite excited about the move now..its a lovely house..took DM and DSD and its had the DSD seal of approval..so it must be ok..(hes a civil engineer)...
very excited as have just taken my first Mehndi henna booking, in just over a week..eekk

pigleychez · 02/01/2010 20:46

Happy New year Everyone! Had a quite night in here with our neighbours round for a few drinks, then spent ages praying that the loud fireworks wouldnt wake DD up- Thankfully they didnt!

Hope everyone suffering with colds etc are feeling better

Congrats on the scans everyone! I have mine on Friday but we arent going to find out the sex.

Happenedagain- I bet that was a scary moment! But glad its all ok.

Heffa- Hope the BP is ok. I too have high BP and will monitored more closely too. No consultant appointment yet though. Interesting to hear about what was said about the tear and section. I too had a 3rd degree tear with my first and was wondering about it happening again, although not sure about a section either.

Angel- What Pram is it you like? I spent soooo long researching prams for DD!

DD has taken to her bed really well. The first few night she was abit unsettled but now seems to be sleeping well and actually sleepin in longer in the mornings too which is fab! We reached 8.30 the other day much better than 5.30am!

Def feeling more pregnant in the past few weeks. Bump feels heavier and bigger! Think baby is having a growth spurt and taking all my energy and goodness, leaving me feeling rundown.
Prob bit of an odd question but anyone else feeling strange downstairs? Think its the extra blood flow making it swollen and uncomfortable, but its most annoying!

ML- Hope the packing is going well

sweetkitty · 02/01/2010 21:15

hi all Happy New Year - we are going to have babies this year

pigley - I had a second degree tear with DD1, nearly a third degree as she came out with her hand by her head, I had a tonne of stitches too, I was a bit scared with DD2 with having a homebirth as well but as I had told the MWs about me being scared of tearing they were really good and slowed everything down as the head was coming out, mde me wait, I delivered a baby that was 3lbs heavier with not even a graze. DD3 was another second degree tear but a straight one so didn't need stitches but it was sore to heal.

On the downstairs thing oh yes feel very heavy and dragging some days, told DP my fanjo was at my knees the other day, poor man. I felt a lot more of the swollen heavy feeling with 2 and 3 than 1 and had BHs never had one with DD1.

anangelwithin - oh which pram, I love prams it's the only new thing this one will be getting

welcome to Nimk

NYE - 12.15am for me, had half a glass of champagne then went to bed, feeling much better today after that weird bug thing. Took down Christmas tree and decs too, we had another few inches of snow again as well

wibblela · 02/01/2010 23:03

Hi Everyone Happy New Year As others have said - we are going have our LOs this year Soooooooo excited

Welcome Nimk ML Glad the new house has DSD's seal of approval How's the packing going?

Still haven't made up my mind whether should find out the sex of LO on Tuesday or not... Kinda like the surprise thing, but on the other hand I'm so excited about it I would like to know now! Bit of a conumdrum!

Got lots of Baby things this Christmas, and one of my sisters has given us loads of clothes - lots and lots!

Has anyone got any recommendations about Gro-bags/Sleeping bags? Been thinking that these are a really good idea but thought I would like to know other's experience of them first before I get one.

memorylapse · 02/01/2010 23:30

wibbela..we are getting there with the packing..slowly but surely

if you are not sure if you want to know the sex..why not get the sonographer to write it on a bit of paper and put it in an envelope..then you can decide to open it or not

Ive used gro bags for all mine..they are invaluable for when they get to that stage that they are kicking blankets off..no worries about smothering either..I think you can get new born ones

sweetkitty · 03/01/2010 11:30

DP felt the baby kick in bed last night first time so he was all gushy, 6 days until we have it confirmed it's DD4, it had better be a girl now I have her name in my head now too just working out middle names now.

I have known the sex with all three so cannot comment on the "surprise" but I do love knowing makes it seem more real in some ways if that makes sense but it's a marmite thing either you want to know or you don't no right or wrong really, it's a very personal choice. Make the shopping easier though

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/01/2010 11:31

Hello folks, hope you're all ok, good luck with all the scans whether you want to find out the sex or not. Welcome to the thread, Nimk.

SweetKitty did you say you were going to find out the sex or not? you're so convinced it's another girl aren't you?? Mind you mother's intuition does count for a lot of these things so you're probably right.

Memorylapse, get some rest where you can, you sound very busy! Tax returns are a nightmare, but the staff on the end of the phone are really good if you're struggling. Good luck with the packing, hope you're getting the kids to pitch in?

Schipo, you probably are feeling the baby, I find I feel it the most when lying down quietly, especially after eating something sugary. But they all have their own patterns.

Well, to compliment the wind, the leaky boobs have started! Can't complain though, at least they're not mega tender anymore! Sorry to hear some of you are suffering with uncomfortable bits, I had a varicose vein in mine towards the end last time, it burned and stung all the time! Isn't pregnancy glamorous!!!!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/01/2010 11:32

x-posted with you there, SK! Good luck with finding out, hope they haven't got their little legs crossed!

sweetkitty · 03/01/2010 11:44

James - if it's legs are crossed I will be jumping up and down like a mad woman so it uncrosses them, I'm paying £75 to find out lol

memorylapse · 03/01/2010 12:07

good luck to those with scans this week..I shall be without internet after tomorrow as we are not being connected up at our new address until 7th Jan and I doubt it will be a smooth transition!.

I am very much looking forward to doing my henna booking in a week though as I find it very relaxing

James I normally do my tax return online..so hope my internet is re connected...Im not overdoing it..poor DH has done most of the packing and mum and step dad helped yesterday...DS1 has done very little unfortunately..it seems he got a double dose of hormones for christmas and has done nothing but rip everyones heads off

baby is kicking very forcefully now..last night she spent an hour trying to kick my arm off my tummy as I had rested it there while I was on the laptop

Morph2 · 03/01/2010 12:53

ML remember the filing deadline for paper tax returns was 31 October so you have to do it online now or you still get a fine although you can avoid this if you pay the tax due by 31 Jan even if return not filed

I'm an accountant and have 34 left to do in Jan which is not too bad compared to some previous years

memorylapse · 03/01/2010 15:31

Morph..I always do it online and usually at the last minute! I always get it in time though

kateyjane · 03/01/2010 18:15

Good Luck to everyone having their scans this week! It's strange being at the end of the month - a four week difference seems like forever at this stage!
Wibblela I also swore by gro-bags. They are brilliant, especially for night feeds, so you don't have to keep adjusting temperatures all the time.
Memorylapse Good luck with the move, hope it all goes well.

Feeling quite miserable today, really really don't want to go back to work. Have loved having two weeks with the children Am so far behind with work, think I will be playing catch up for the next few weeks.
Still, have my scan to look forward to next week and have arranged it so I avoid my two least favourite lessons

memorylapse · 03/01/2010 21:51

new something would bleedin well happen..just had a very heated discussion with LL in which he claims he out £1000 worth of oil in the tank before we moved in..what bunkum!..we had to fill it up..hes now demanding we out the same in or he will keep our deposit

I havent stopped hyperventilating since our conversation which Im sure cant be good for the baby

brightredballoon · 03/01/2010 22:00

Oh ML what an 11th hour stunt for him to pull, for goodness sake you are moving out tomorrow! Deep breathing for you, like you say not good for the baby all this stress. Is it written anywhere on your rental agreement about the oil level when you moved in? I hope you get it sorted.

It's a bank holiday up here in Scotland tomorrow so DH not back to work until Tuesday, I have really enjoyed having him off for over 2 weeks, but its flown by!

Anyone else needing to watch their diet now? I know we can't diet to lose weight when pregnant but I feel really yuck, scared to weigh myself so I was thinking of trying to plan really healthy nutritious and as low fat as is acceptable in pregnancy to get me back on track. Cant have helped that I havent exercised for over two weeks either, I only do gentle stuff but am sure it all helps!

sweetkitty · 03/01/2010 22:08

brightred - I weighed myself on the WiiFit tonight and have put on a stone must be all baby though nothing to do with the amount of chocolate I have consumed. My bum and hips definitely have got bigger and are spreading out.

Will worry about it in about 6 months although with 4 children under 6 chances are I won't get the chance to sit down.

DP back tomorrow as he is on English bank hols so doesn't get it off. Will miss him too, I fell asleep on the sofa today and he sent me up to bed for an hour.

ML - nightmare hope you get it sorted

memorylapse · 03/01/2010 23:11

BRB..nothing in the tenancy agreement..I know he is trying it on..the kindly folk on money saving expert have advised me well and it looks as though I will have to go to arbitration to get the deposit back

my mouth has gone all dry and Im still breathless..baby has been really quiet this evening..am tempted tio ring hospital and check that this level of stress cant do any harm..I feel poop

ForcesSweetheart · 03/01/2010 23:14

wibble - I wouldn't be without grobags/sleeping bags. I used them from birth with DD and love them. No worries with covers either being kicked off or ending up over their heads, and you can get them in all different togs for winter and really thin cotton ones for summer.

SK, you were little to start with weren't you? I reckon a stone is good going. I put on 10lbs by 18 weeks then lost 2lb over xmas, but have put it back on since I got home, so I'm now still up 10lb at almost 23wks. I'm really hoping to keep to 1.5 stone overall coz I am obese to begin with. Really hope LO plays ball for your scan, would be so frustrating to pay out and not know!

Still feeling really sick whenever I eat a meal so eating quite small meals and grazing lots, but my diabetes is better controlled than I could ever have hoped for (with pills alone). This gastric bypass has been the best decision I ever made. My blood sugar when I tested after dinner tonight was 4.4, despite having had a couple of belgian seashell choccies right after dinner! At this point with DD I was 2.5 stone up and having to inject about 80 units of insulin before every meal as well as the pills. Seeing my GP first thing tomorrow and gonna ask about anti-nausea drugs. Then got diabetic ante-natal appt. Really excited about another scan on weds too.

LO is kicking like crazy. DH felt it for first time last night. I was lying on the couch and called him over for a feel and he got it after a minute or so. It's still really low down though, feels like she's trying to kick her way out down below.

ML, good luck with the move! So excited for you. at that LL though! Trying it on perhaps?

memorylapse · 03/01/2010 23:41

Forces..well done on keeping your blood sugars down..Im struggling to control mine, my after dinner readings are usually between 9-10..thats with 4 units of insulin...Im supposed to bleep the diabetic nurse if it goes out range again..but Im attributing it to short term stress. Good luck with your clinic appt and scan

Sweetkitty..I hope the scan goes well.and baby displays the goods..you may be pleasantly surprised and find you are having a boy

on the weight front..Im still less than I was when I fell pregnant

Yorky · 04/01/2010 08:14

Well done ML for keeping your weight down, the wiifit keeps telling me off! You sound like you'll be better off out of the LLs way, do you have a receipt for your filling the oil tank - the date on that should help? (On a slight sidetrack, how much would you charge for henna tattoos for an evening at the summer ball at DHs work, and how far would you travel?)
Its a shame you're still feeling sicky forces, hope the Dr can help. Enjoy your scan, mine is on Friday

If you're not all too sick of presents, would anyone be interested in doing a Secret Stork? We did one on my Nov ante-natal thread with DD and it was lovely. Like a secret Santa but an excuse to buy cute baby things!

sweetkitty · 04/01/2010 09:02

Forces - yes I was a size 8 before getting pregnant and weighed the same as I did at 18 note 18 not 28 as at 28 I was a size 12, I have lost nearly 2 stone since having DC, when I think how much I spent on dieting before having DC and there was the answer I am very small framed with narrow shoulders and little thin arms and legs so when I put on weight it goes straight to my bum and hips.

Yorky - secret stork sounds like a bit of fun
it's so exciting all these scans makes it all seem a bit more real

FS - sorry you are still feeling sick but that's good news about your blood sugars. My kicks are still really low down too they must still be head up, give it another few weeks and they will turn and we will be moaning about having a big hard bum underneath our ribs

DP back at work today and it's till very snowy and icy outside so think we are staying in today

memorylapse · 04/01/2010 09:41

ooh a secret stork sounds lovely

Yorky if yu want to email me..with the details about your summer ball..I can hopefully give you some details...We will have internet until tomorrow.
my email is
[email protected]

hardly slept a wink last night..feel really stressed today..just want to get moved out.

wibblela · 04/01/2010 12:14

ML all that stress sounds awful! Hopefully when you're away from that LL you'll be able to be more relaxed and enjoy your pg Well done for not gaining any weight - I am the same I am just under what I was pre-pg, I lost 4kgs to begin with! Mind you being as big as I am no-one was worried (c:

FS Really good about your blood sugars

I have my scan tomorrow! Have been thinking lots about whether to find out the sex or not, ML said about getting the sonographer to write it down and put it in an envelope - thought about that and realised that I would just open tne envelope and find out anyway! DH is not fussed either way, his remark when I told him about this was "why deny yourself?" Excellent piece of advice So, assuming we can, we are going to find out the sex tomorrow I am quite excited! Much more relaxed about it now I have made a decision.

I think we will go the gro-bags/sleeping bag route - sounds so much of a better idea than balnkets (c: Found a thread on the pregnancy forum about having a baby whilst on a budget, and that has given a list of the things you need to get and where to get them - so useful! As this is our first LO was a bit flumoxed! DH has suggested making a list and I think he is a wise man

ForcesSweetheart · 04/01/2010 13:00

yorky count me in for the secret stork, fab idea.

Saw GP this morning and got script for anti-sickness pills and signed off work for another fortnight. Spoke to my boss on phone and she said "we need to start thinking about maternity leave then", I suspect she hasn't consulted HR as the dept policy states I can't be asked to start mat leave early just coz I'm sick. They can't make me start it til 36 weeks, although I wouldn't take the mickey - I had planned to stop at about 32 weeks so will start it by then even if doc is still signing me off sick. Also got referral to physio as my SPD is giving me some pain.

After GP went to hospital for diabetic team appt and all well there, so just to see diabetic team again 2 wks today as well as first appt with obstetric team to discuss birth options. Will have a growth scan at 28 weeks too so only 5 weeks to wait after this heart scan on weds before I see baba again.
