Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kateyjane · 24/12/2009 11:37

Hello everyone. I wondered if it is possible to join the thread? I have been lurking on mumsnet for a few weeks and have just plucked up the courage to post on another board. I'd really love to join this thread, sorry if you think it's bad manners to lurk before posting.
Congratulations to everyone on their scans so far. I have to wait until Jan 13th for my next one, which seems like forever.
If you don't mind me joining, I wonder if someone could add me to the list? I'm 32 and this is my 4th DC. I have one DD,7, one DD,4 and one DS,3. I am due on 26/5.
I have just started feeling movements this week, so it's starting to feel real.
Wishing everyone a really lovely Christmas!! and look forward to getting to know you all

there you go

newmomma · 24/12/2009 14:22

hi ladies,
haven't been on in ages - have had weeks of stress but finally now all is ok.

after bleeding a while ago and waiting three days to go to the hospital for a scan to check all was ok - when we got there they only listened to the heartbeat. it was a huge relief at the time but i think i really needed to see the baby moving.

anyway a few weeks later i started leaking amniotic fluid. only small amounts and i think worry too much - tbh i thought it was bladder weakness for the first few days. but it was the wrong smell and consistency (sorry tmi).

i mentioned it to the mw and she immediately said 'scan, now'.
so that was monday - the same day i was diagnosed with a bad chest infection, fever etc. the midwife phoned the hospital who said that they'd call to arrange an appt on wed. i went home to bed feeling diabolical and while asleep the hospital rang to say could i come in over the next hour.
i started freaking that it must be more serious than i realised.

my husband tore home from work - just as the snow started. he picked me up but by the time we'd got to the nearest town it became apparent that we weren't going to make the hospital.

so we got stranded overnight and had to stay at my mil's and then finally made the hospital the next day. we drove in so slowly on tues and after various tests and finally a scan they said that all was well.
you can apparantly lose small amounts of water and it replenishes itself. my cervix was shut so that was the main concern.

and they told me its a little GIRL!!!!!!!!!
and she's well and they did an early 20 week scan as they were so quiet.

really pleased as we already have ds1 - it seems too good to be true just before xmas.

anyway - speak of the devil - he just woke up.

lovely to read of everyone's good news and scans - lots of little girls it seems!!

Merry Christmas for you all tomorrow xxx

kateyjane · 24/12/2009 15:29

Thank you for adding me CornishSAMum.

Glad everything is okay newmomma, sounds like you have had an awful time - hope you can enjoy a relaxing Christmas.

Hobnobfanatic · 24/12/2009 16:05

Wow - so much news to catch up on!
Newmomma - that sounds such an ordeal, but I'm so ppleased all is well.
Congrats on all the scans, everyone. I can't believe how many girls there are. Does that mean the 'surprises' will all be boys, or will there be a national boy shortage?!

I've been toing and froing across the country, visiting friends and family before Xmas and delivering pressies. Have been stranded a few times - but am finally home. It's such a relief!±

memorylapse · 24/12/2009 16:05

Katey..congrats and welcome

newmomma..what a frightening experience for you..glad everything is ok..I had a fluid leak at 26 weeks with dd1 and it replenished, she was fine and born overdue!

well guess what?? our boiler packed up again this afternoon and the crappy letting agent are closed for christmas..we are moving out on 3rd Jan so sod em..weve had enough..we will tell the letting agent that the boiler has died AGAIN and the flaming landlord can deal with it when he moves back in

sweetkitty · 24/12/2009 17:03

Was snowing a little today again we will have a good old covering on the ground though, acid reflux really annoying today will have to take loads of Zantac for tomorrow.

pamelat - congrats on having a boy I have NEVER changed a boys nappy either, would be a shock for me I can tell you. I am SO convinced this one is another girl I even have her names all worked out, just working on middle names now

welcome back CornishSAMum and welcome to kateyjane

newmomma - wow you have had a time of it haven't you, hope everything calms down now and you have a stressfree uneventful rest of your pregnancy

ML - that's shocking don't know what we would do if our boiler packed in it was -6degrees last night, bet you are SO glad you are moving now leave landlord with all the problems

Right off to start dinner, then baths, then get ready for Santa coming tonight then beds, so excited I love this part almost cannot wait to get them to bed so we can start everything off.

If I don't see you all which I probably will as I will be too excited to sleep and am usually up about 6am Christmas morning hope you all have a great day xxx

Have been trying to keep up with the fast pace of this thread but haven't managed to post (this is the 1st Xmas since losing my Mum in the summer and have been finding it hard to cope of late).
Anyway, had 20wk scan today and found that we are having another boy! So relieved that all is well with baby as haven't felt much movement yet. However, have been told that I have an anterior placenta (which explains the lack of feeling kicks) so will be monitored and scanned again at 32wks....sonographer was brilliant and explained everything and said that it is quite common at this stage and there is plenty of time for it to move but in the meantime, just carry on as normal - I may have a bleed or I may not be if I do then just go back to the hospital and they'll be happy to scan and reassure me. Luckily have a few days off now over xmas so will take it easy.

Hope all is well with everyone....have a wonderful Christmas!

kateyjane · 25/12/2009 01:58

Thank you for the welcome.
Sorry about your boiler Memorylapse, it sounds like a nightmare. Hope your new house is problem free and lovely.

Congratulations Haribolicious.I was very shocked when I had my DS as had no experience of boys - however he was a dream baby compared to the girls!

Have finally wrapped the last of the presents and can't wait to see the DC's faces - don't know who is more excited, them or me

Have a really lovely day everyone. Merry Christmas.

memorylapse · 25/12/2009 11:10

merry crimbo everyone!

Welcome haribolicious

the house feels lovely and christmassy..weve lit the log burner as the boiler has packed up and the house feels warmer than with the heating on!

DC'S got up at the very sensible time of 8.30..we are now cooking dinner ready for DM and DSD who are coming over later

HeffaMerryChristmas · 26/12/2009 09:40

Congratulations to all with boys and girls, can't wait to find out what we're having

Welcome to the thread Kateyjane!

Newmomma - that all sounds v.scary, glad everything is OK and congratulations on a girl!

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. We had a really fab time with ILs and then went up to my parents for Christmas dinner which was also great. DD is loving all her presents - she has a dolly who she adores. She keeps kissing it and putting it to bed, v.cute.

Morph2 · 27/12/2009 15:01

Just got back from braving the sales....

20 weeks tomorrow and am still in my normal clothes but jeans were starting to feel tight round the tummy so picked up some maternity jeans from Next. 1 pair reduced to £10 from £22, another reduced from £30 to £15 and two pairs of black trousers £25 each reduced to £12. Just tried them all and all fit with plenty of room for growth!!

Also got some packs of baby body suits from M&S that were reduced to half price and a lovely animal playmat thingie (one of those with the toys that hang down) that was reduced from £29.50 to £9. Everyone i saw walking round the shop seemed to have one of those !!

Was still abit aprehensive about buying stuff as still feels too early. My 21 week scan is on 6th Jan so hopefully will be better after that

nappyaddict · 28/12/2009 10:16

Hi there,

I wondered if anyone could do me a favour if they have any spare pregnancy tests left over? If any of you are 18 to 20 weeks pregnant could you do a test and see if it comes up positive or negative? I haven't had a period since August but have had cycles before where it's been 14 weeks between periods so I haven't thought about pregnancy up to now. I have recently done 2 tests but both were negative but have heard that HCG levels drop as pregnancy goes on and wasn't sure if that would mean a HPT would come up negative this late?

memorylapse · 28/12/2009 11:46

morph..excellent bargains..Ive been apprehensive about buying baby stuff too..but I guess you have to buy stuff at some point and not a good idea to wait until you are about 36 weeks pregnant which is what I did with dd..trudging round shops was not enjoyable.

nappyaddict..fraid I dont have any tests left..but I probably wouldnt be representative of the majority anyway as Im still feeling sick would probably still get a positive...

22 weeks tomorrow and bump is most definitely making her presence known especially at night
DH has gone back to work..and we are furiously packing the house up..move day is one week away

nappyaddict · 28/12/2009 12:26

With DS I felt flutters from 12 weeks but no proper kicks until about week 26 or 27.

sweetkitty · 28/12/2009 16:43

hi everyone hope you are all having a lovely holiday

I got some maternity jeans from Next too, ordered 3 pairs online but am only keeping the one as I already have 2 pairs so they should keep me going, have never bothered with maternity pants or bras after no1, might get a few more cheap tops but grudgingly buying anything maternity as this is my last baby.

nappyaddict - I seem to recall that after 12 weeks when the placenta kicks in proper your levels of HCG can drop even back to that of a non pregnant woman, can't remember where I read that though. I take it you haven't had a 12 week scan then?

ML - think I am a day behind you 22 weeks on Wednesday, will phone and book scan tomorrow. Not bought a thing for the baby yet, if it's another girl she will need very little anyway, plus if I get it all down from the loft I have nowhere to store it all. Just going to use the moses basket to start with then get the bedside cot off DD3 who is two in July as she has a bed up the loft ready for her or I might just buy her a cheap Ikea cot to keep her contained IYSWIM. Only other thing I really need is a double buggy (again) probably wait until about March/April for that.

haribo - congrats on having another boy, I think two of the same sex is lovely.

HeffaMerryChristmas · 28/12/2009 18:11

Nappyaddict - I still have a spare test, I'll go and check in a moment for you.

I desperately need some new maternity clothes, am hoping to get some for my birthday from the sales. Will go shopping on the day of my scan.

HeffaMerryChristmas · 28/12/2009 18:39

Taken a test (one of those cheapy Ebay ones) and still got a very definite positive. I'm 20 weeks today. Hope that helps! Have you seen your GP?

pigleychez · 28/12/2009 21:50

Hope everyone has had a fab christmas break! We had great fun and DD was throughly spoilt by the grandparents! The lounge looks like Toys R Us!!

Katey- Welcome aboard

Newmomma-Sorry to hear about your stressful time but glad everything is ok with your little GIRL!

Haribo- Finally another boy on the thread

Heffa- DD got a dolly too and loves it to bits. So so cute to see thier play developing isnt it.

Morph- I usually do the sales but really couldnt be bothered this year plus DD has a drawer full of clothes she will "grow into" as shes such a wee skinny thing!

Nappy addict- Sorry no spare tests here. Ive only ever bought one twin pack of tests and both times they have been BFP's
Hope you find out either way soon... Must be a nightmare.

SK- We dont need much either as all the bits we bought were unisex as we didnt know DD's sex till birth. whilst up the loft the other day I got DH to dig out the baby clothes to see what we had.... Oh my theres tons of it and we didnt even keep everything!!
I did buy a little white dungaree suit the other day though as I couldnt resist it

We put up the Junior bed we bought DD today. She LOVES it!! Im pretty sure the Peppa pig bedding has helped alot but its def a huge hit. We had planned to do naps in it for a few days to ease her into it but she was eager to get in it tonight so is spending her first night in a big girl bed! She looks so tiny in her bed but yet so grown up(17mths)! Not my little baby anymore!!

nappyaddict · 29/12/2009 00:42

No haven't seen the GP yet. I have had irregular periods before and gone as long as 14 weeks between them so was waiting for that period of time to pass first to see if AF came but it hasn't. Will make an appointment to see GP next week when DS is back at nursery so I don't have to drag him with me.

LuckyC · 29/12/2009 10:47

Hello everyone!

I am back and just checking in after having had a quick look through the last 3 weeks of messages. Very eventful as ever on MN - have not caught up properly but everyone sounds OK?

We had such a fantastic Christmas, my first at home in Zimbabwe for about 7 years. Spent lots of time with family, including my neice Julia, who at 2 and a half is adorable but with terrifying levels of energy. How will I cope with THAT???

My news is that my bump is now definitely a bump and people know I am pregnant straight away - very exciting! (Partly due to my mother feeding her grandchild through me, I'm afraid. Have to do some serious weight-watching. Start next week, honest...)

Also, even more exciting, I am being kicked around like a football. I felt three solid kicks on the plane on the way out there - baby quite understandably less than impressed by Air Kenya's food - and then what must have been a massive somersault. Had me clutching my bump and going 'Oooh!' My first and had no idea what to expect, but felt like the whole lot was about to fall out of me - most odd. But v cool.

Also also, we are off for the 20-week scan today (I am about 23.5 weeks). So touch wood and I will add myself to the list later with a GIRL or BOY....

20 weeks tomorrow and scan is Jan 8th; we're not finding out the sex though.
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas

sweetkitty · 29/12/2009 14:08

I'm feeling awful today, sore throat, cough (which is lovely when you have a rubbish pelvic floor), sore ears and I bet it's only a matter of time before it's in my sinuses. DD3 also full of snot and miserable. DP gone back to work too so on my ownsome. All I think I have done today is sort out clothes/toys/food and try to tidy up a bit. Have left the big two's bedroom until later. They have so many new toys don't know where to put them all. I think I will put some up the loft as theres no space for them all. Wish I could wake up tomorrow and my house had an extension, as if! We are meeting with an architect in January to see what we can do about extending, if we cannot get the space we want will have to move house. We are detached and have a load of space both sides and the back but more to one side, would be quite a big extension and a lot of hassle especially having 4 DC around to but it needs to be done.

Sorry my moan of the day over, no4 still quite quiet but I do feel it.

pigley - DD3 still my ickle baby think it's having the bigger two as well, she so wants to do everything they do though, she just copies them all the time and ignores her toys and plays with theirs, they in turn play with her baby toys, I have given up!

LuckyC - glad you had a good holiday back home, oh come back soon and tell us which flavour you are having

itshappenedagain · 29/12/2009 18:45

hello all!
just abck from my parents and glad to be home, but did have a nice rest at mums dispite having to stay an extra few days as DS was ill...apparently had a viral infection, so was up and down most of the night the whole time we were there...good thing thou is having a sleep in the next day whilst parents or brothers got up with him.

im very excited as i have my scan tomorrow, have been having lots of movement, but down side a bit more bleeding on 24/25, called midwife and she said if i was feeling movements not to worry. So will be every happy to see little person ( who i suspect is a boy) tomorrow. so nice to see that all are doing well.

memorylapse · 29/12/2009 20:35

SK..sorry to hear you are feeling poorly..take it easy and look after yourself.

itshappenedagain..good luck with the scan
