Forces - weather is terrible here right now, I would plan for a long time in the car, take plenty of food and some blankets. I think the motorways are not too bad but the smaller roads are a nightmare. I am only hoping that Sainsburys manage to deliver the Christmas shop tomorrow. DD2 is the same about her birthday, she has her presents picked out already (train set and a dinosaur!) and her cake. She's a second born so used to sharing us, she is so excited though about having another baby, she hugs the bump and tells me "I'm giving the baby a cuddle Mum not you" typical DD2.

first1 - congrats on having a girl, last antenatal thread boys outnumbered girls 3 to 1.

hormonalmum - oh hope your DD feels better soon and you keep badgering them about the Celvapan

Vicky - hello and welcome to the thread, I am far too impatient not to find out and as we have to pay for a 20 week scan anyway it's too tempting, it's a lovely little boost mid pregnancy and you can argue about one set of names and buy gender specific clothes. Can understand about the surprise too though I think there are 2 types of people those who want the surprise and those who don't, no right or wrong really.

Tomlin - oh scan on Weds how exciting am so jealous must get mine booked. about your radiator it's a pain, we pulled a carpet up in our little donwstairs loo today and the floor is a mess no wonder they put carpet down there a gaping big hole where the wind is coming through.

SquirtsMum · 21/12/2009 21:22

Hobnob - yep the snow hit saturday night and more is expected tomorrow and thursday..... woohoo might just get my first white xmas since 1987 lol

Anyone know of the best place to get a long sleeved cotton top in black? One the washes up pretty good and doesn't go see thru at the slightest hint of some serious norkage? Work shirt pretty much exploded today (thank god i was wearing a vest top underneath!) whilst pulling a pint - customer looked v happy and then notice the bump and the smile disappeared lol

lizzie9442 · 22/12/2009 08:18

morning all, congrats to everyone on their scans.

Sorry not been on for ages, just moved house and currently not connected to internet till 30th.

I had my scan yesterday and found out I'm having a little girl. So happy, as I will have two boys and two girls. Hope everyone is doing ok and I will catch up when I next can xxxx

Lovely to hear all the names and genders slowly coming out. Really rather envious as I'll be about 22 weeks for my next scan.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and the snow is a decorative addition and not a pain to you all.
Swetkitty, thought it might be you, and it's been slightly longer than 10 years I think, DH and I celebrate 10th wedding anniversary 2 weeks after this one is due. I'll never forget DH saying "SK's DP kissed me as well!" as we were leaving the marquee through your tunnel of hands. Lol, the champers and wine was flowing that day.
Miss all you lot so much, we had some fun times!

memorylapse · 22/12/2009 12:59

squirtsmum..try cotton traders..I got a nice plain black v neck top from there for work..Im LOL at the customer getting an eye full then noticing your bump

Lizzie..congrats on your scan and another girl!

I have my 21 week scan tomorrow and am terrified..Ive convinced myself that something awaful will be wrong..because I didnt take folic acid and in the first two weeks I was taking a medication that my gp assured me was safe but then discovered wasnt..appt is at 2pm.
just realised I am 21 weeks today!

AnAngelWithin · 22/12/2009 16:29

aww more newbies!!! welcome!!

18+1 here.

ML you will be fine hun. Honest. Let us know.

Well I have done myself in now! I slipped on the ice yesterday and shook myself a bit, but seemed ok. Then today I have had a right day, cleaned top to bottom, skirting boards, cobwebs everything!! Polished the laminate, cleaned the rabbit out and got a roast beef dinner cooking as I type. I am soooooo tired now!!!! Bleeding a little bit as well. Probably just overdone things? Daresay DH will tell me off later Trouble is, DH is working 14-15 hours a week at the moment and wont have had a day off for 2 weeks by the time christmas eve is here, so its a case of having to do stuff on my own Hopefully in january he will be working less as his work slows down for 3 months.

OP posts:
mollybob · 22/12/2009 16:41

What were you taking ML? There is very little evidence that anything in regular use is unsafe just a lack of research proving that it IS safe iyswim. I understand your fears though - try to be kind to yourself x

HeffaMerryChristmas · 22/12/2009 16:48

AnAngelWithin - you sound so busy! Hope you get to have a bit of a break soon.

Memorylapse - good luck for your scan tomorrow, I'm sure it will be fine

TomlinTowers - nightmare about your radiator! Hope the plumber gets it sorted and isn't too extortionate.

DH has been v.poorly with what might be swine flu so we've been stuck indoors . Getting very cabin-feverish now - we don't even have any pretty snow, just lots of ice and sleet.

memorylapse · 22/12/2009 16:57

Angel..I know how you feel..DH working till 9 every night then only off 2 days over crimbo then back to work..I worked last night and am working over crimbo and trying to pack..and cooking christmas dinner too!!..stop the world I want to get off!

Mollybob..I was taking Cinnarizine, 2 15mg tablets tds as I have a damaged vestibular system..GP swapped me over to stemetil..but I only took one of those! I was on cyclizine too for the hyperemesis

mollybob · 22/12/2009 17:06

Cyclizine and stemetil used v commonly in pregnancy so are as safe as it gets (no actual controlled studies will ever be done in pregnancy obviously so anything used frequently becomes seen as safe by default - I would take either of these except cyclizine does nothing for me when I have HG and stemetil makes me agitated and anxious.) Cinnarizine hardly ever used by women of fertile age - it's mainly used for, as you say, vestibular problems which are more common in middle age and later - there is no evidence of any damage caused by cinnarizine in pregnancy but the lack of evidence puts it into the category of best avoided through lack of knowledge and the existence of other stuff like cyclizine and stemetil which is more proven. Very, very few things are actually known to be safe - paracetamol is one of these (thankfully as I'm getting mega headaches at least 3/4 times a week...)

memorylapse · 22/12/2009 17:55

mollybob..I looked cinnarizine up in the BNF after I found out I was pregnant and stopped taking it straight away when I had my BFP..so Im hoping Ive limited any potential damage...just phoned my MW and told her my fears..she has tried to reassure me by saying that a major abnormality would have been spotted on my nuchal scan...I hope so

mollybob · 22/12/2009 20:15

There may well be no damage to be limited though so try not to worry - just an unknown quantity rather than a known danger and a fairly odd drug so any big problem would have been found out by now. It's the new drugs that are worth worrying about. I know you have other fears but I would try not to add that to it. x

Sophie2008 · 22/12/2009 20:16

Hi Everyone

I had my 20 week midwife appointment and my 20 week scan today. All was well. Both babies are doing well.

One of the placenta's is low lying, but should not be a problem when giving birth... i hope.

Midwife told me my stomach muscles are shot, and non existant after have my first, so definately need to be wearing the support belt that i got, which she did say was a really good one!
She also scared me a little saying that once the muscles are gone that's it! I'll need to wear a support bandage after giving birth for a few months over my stomach to keep the muscles in. Apparantly no stocmach excersies will help, and she had the cheek to say i could need a tummy tuck!!!

The hospital would not sex the babies at the scan, so booked a private one for middle of Jan. So just under 4 weeks until i found out if boys, girls or one of each!!

I'm also the size of a 28 week singleton pregnancy, at only 20 weeks with the twins. I wonder how big i am going to get....

Yorky · 22/12/2009 20:29

Glad to hear you're doing well Sophie, we must have that coffee before long. I heard Tanya and Wendy sympathising about someone expecting twins a couple of weeks ago - do you know who I mean?
Are you away much over Christmas?

ML, best of luck for tomorrow's scan, looking forward to your post telling how lovely it was.

Sophie2008 · 22/12/2009 20:34

Hi Yorky,

I know who you mean, Tanya does the toddler group. We are travelling to our parent for Christmas tomorrow morning, and back new years day. Then it's time to sort the house out as moving house 8th Feb! Fun times!

sweetkitty · 22/12/2009 20:46

Evening all, great day today with the snow, we went to a little party with DP picking us up, came out to find car half way up hill and DP and this very kind man putting grit under the tyres, it took ages to get the car up the steep hill sliding all over the place and conking out but we got there, 4 mile journey took a 1/2 hours but think it's like that everywhere. On the plus side Sainsburys dame today and between that and me visiting the supermarket today we are all stocked up so can stay indoors for a few days now. Lo kicking away am 21 weeks tomorrow, am very of all these scans.

ML - best of luck for tomorrow as mollybob said they say practically everything is dangerous in pregnancy as they simply cannot test on pregnant women and err on the side of caution.

Sophie - good news about the scan too but about your tummy muscles, I have never heard of anyone with shot muscles well apart from c sections, I think I might need a tummy tuck oh and a new pelvic floor after this one! Have to make sure that I go to the toilet frequently and wouldn't trust a good cough or sneeze these days.

Heffa - hope your DH is feeling better soon

fiveisanawfullybignumber - told DP he was laughing I think your wedding was the last time he danced in public as well, he's practically teetotal these days being a serious running machine, he has a place in next years London marathon (v rare) but it's the week before my due date so he cannot go. I agree it's been about 12 years I reckon and remember I used to say I wasn't go to have children and here I am pregnant with no4!

lizzie - congrats on having a girl, now where are all the little boys? Not here obviously

memorylapse · 22/12/2009 21:31

sophie..lovely news..not so good about the tummy muscles though..I guess what she means is that theyve seperated..mine have been knackered for years..thats probably why I show so quickly.

SK..cant beleive how many people are holed up due to snow..we have none in north wales.

Mollybob..thanks for the reassurance..I am working myself into a frenzy..Ive thought of every conceivable abnormality that is incompatible with life..I know Im driving you all mad..but my last two pregnancies ended in late losses and I struggle to accept that nothing will go wrong with this pregnancy..that coupled with my slightly weird gender scan on friday where the sonographer was unusually quiet..Ive got a horrible sense of foreboding

brightredballoon · 22/12/2009 21:48

Hi everyone

Alex really sorry to hear about your Dad, will be thinking of you.

SK agree the snow is delightful but when its starting to get dark I find it all quite eery and encroaching. We have finished work now though so we can enjoy it as much as we want without HAVING to go out!
We didn't find out at the scan but we both feel we are having another boy, I agree this thread is a pretty pink colour at the moment!

Sophie really of you getting to your parents, we were supposed to be going to mine tomorrow but its a 450mile drive and the snow reports have put us off, we feel our journey is too dangerous to venture out with more snow forecast.
Glad to hear your babies are doing well. Try not to worry too much about your muscles just yet as my sister also had really separated muscles and had to wear the support and the post natal tubigrip type thing but after following all their advice and doing the gentle excises now she is 10months postnatal and the gap has reduced to 2cms.

Heffa Sorry to hear about your DH being poorly, hope he makes a good recovery soon.

ML good luck for your scan tomorrow, I am sure it will all be fine. Are you finding out the sex?

Vicky if I wasn't having an elective c-section I would probably find out the sex this time round, its our third child and the last two we didnt find out but with the birth being so planned and medicalised I am looking forward to discovering the sex and weight at the time.

Forces you will have left on your journey now , I hope it is going well. I will also be a CS in April so we can sit and run a "book" on who will pop next together!

I am off to bed, feel quite exhausted after our run up to Christmas activities (I am sure you all have had the same, party after party, Santa visits, Carol Services etc).
I was supposed to get the Celvepan vaccine today (first dose) but scared myself by something I read so I need to read more to counter balance it, also the Dr at the surgery did nothing to reassure me.

memorylapse · 22/12/2009 22:03

BRB.. had a gender scan on friday..its a girl

mollybob · 22/12/2009 22:30

ML - You're not driving me mad - I'm just trying to point out the facts. Of course you're scared after what you've been through but if at all possible try to torture yourself less - there is nothing more you can do right now apart from wait.

Oh and I'm huge too - don't think I still possess stomach muscles!!!

memorylapse · 22/12/2009 22:32

I know..you are completely right Mollybob..Ill probably have a very sleepless night tonight..just want to get tomorrow out of the way

mollybob · 22/12/2009 22:36

will be thinking about you - I'm not looking forward to tomorrow either but only because I'm meeting my v judgmental brother for lunch - he lives in US and I haven't seen him since got pg and he doesn't like children and will be going on and on about why I shouldn't be pg and other comments on my life choices. Git.

memorylapse · 22/12/2009 23:03

tell him to bog off! how dare he tell you what lifestyle choices to make..I have that with my aunt..who never wanted children so cannot understand anyone elses desire to have them

AnAngelWithin · 23/12/2009 08:56

morning all....sniff sniff....croak croak....my eeeeeeeeeeears.......my throooooooat.....my heeeeeeeeeead.......OUUUUUUUCH!!!! Well after a day doing everything yesterday, i didn't actually sleep a wink last night seeing as this cold seems to have come from nowhere and hit my like a train! I finally dropped off to sleep on the sofa about 2.45am, only to be woken up by our smoke alarm blaring at 3am!!! no reason for it to be doing that!!! Then dd2 this morning said that someone was crying in her room at the end of her bed last night...SO strange!!

At least I haven't got much to do today, just a some washing, all the cleanings as done as its going to get. My grocery shoppings coming between 10 and 12 and i've got loads of visitors coming. Hopefully they won't stay too long through fear of me being contagious lol
