Morning!
Happy Christmas to all the lovely wagoners!

Hope everyone had lovely christmas days/ boxing days and the day after!

Ses- O sounds like he had a lovely day and wow, what a lot of lunch!!

We were really busy with my mum here for thurs night, Friday and saturday. Then yesterday we visited my dad and stepmother.

We had a lovely day and DD also did really quite well at lunch too and seemed to a bit of everything. We discovered a new favourite for her in smoked salmon. She ate loads!! I was really surprised as it as really smokey but she was hoovering it.

Im not sure what we are doing today. DH said lets go out but so far he is still asleep so Im watching a programme about homebirths and eating shortbread.

I go back to work a week today.
I cant believe that my lovely lovely maternity leave is nearly all over!

essenceofSES · 28/12/2009 21:06

BB!!!!!

Of course we remember you - do update us when you get chance!

Ginger - boo to going back to work I still need to work out what I'm going to do - 4 days a week in my old job or ask for another job (probably less pay) on 3 or less days a week.

Had a good few days here. Now getting ready for our trip up to see my DB&SIL in Keswick. We go Wednesday morning. DH is taking his car with the 2 dogs and the luggage and I'm taking my car with O and my parents. Not sure how any of us are going to cope with 5 days of my mum - I may be tearing my hair out by the time I get back!

Moos - hope those gorgeous girls all had a great Christmas.

Anyone heard from Diege? Hope her move went ok and she's just getting her internet set up before updating us!

Hello anyone else lurking!

IDOBisamummy · 28/12/2009 22:13

Hi all, hope everyone had a fantastic xmas .

We had a lovely few days at my parents - DD was thoroughly fussed over, passed around and cuddled and she enjoyed every moment. She finished up with an obscenely huge pile of pressies for a LO most of which play irritating tunes constantly but she loves them. We even had a nice meal with FIL and MIL .

My wisdom teeth are playing up now , my jaw aches and it is giving me a headache and earache . I'm not sure the gum isn't infected so I'm going to have to visit the dentist.

Ses - enjoy Keswick and I hope your mum surprises you . Well done to O eating all that dinner!

BB - great to 'see you'. Congrats and I'm looking forward to hearing some details.

Ginger - boo to going back to work - ML goes quickly doesn't it. The last 10 weeks with DD have flown by.

Moosy - a belated hooray for weight gain, how has the feeding been going since then?

Diege - hope the move went well.

Tink - hope you are all better.

Hi Cant, Star, Lightening, Kayz, Bump and anyone else I've missed.

Kayzr · 28/12/2009 22:30

Hello.

BB, of course we remember you!!! So give us all the details!!

Ses, have a great time. Hope your Mum doesn't drive you nuts!!

Moos, how is the feeding going? Felicity is a gorgeous little girl.

I have the mother of all headaches. Freddie has woken the past few nights and I feel exhausted. Now Dylan is awake and screaming but real screaming. That awful high pitched scream. I've had to send DH in as my head feels like it will explode. Plus I am working all day tomorrow and he is off work so it's only fair.

Ses if you see this before you leave is there anything I can get from the chemist that is quite strong. I have loads of Ibuprofen but it just doesn't seem to clear it.

Hope everyone is well.

Kayzr · 28/12/2009 22:32

I can't believe it took me 15 minutes to write that post.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/12/2009 11:26

morning, still super hectic here!! Can't believe just how busy xmas has been here this year!! Have MIl arriving on thursday am too so still got tons to do before then!!

Hope everyone has had a lovely xmas.

Diege- hope the move went ok and your just waiting on t'internet reconnection!!

tink- hope your still having fun in hull. Sorry i didn't reply to your text- been V.busy- forgot till just now!!

STT- thanks for the crimbo card- again was gonna text but crossed my mind till now!!

Argh- i'm exhausted- best dash and go sort the DC's out... may just stick mary poppins on and be done with them!!

Kayzr · 29/12/2009 17:51

OMG!!!! Can't I am so so sorry!! Your Xmas card is on the window ledge!!! It's got a stamp and everything!! Sorry

essenceofSES · 29/12/2009 18:58

Just posting to ask some advice. DS is getting more & more wriggly and changing him is getting to be one of the most stressful times of the day. He screams the place down if I try and stop him rolling over and crawling around - often either naked or semi-dressed. A few weeks ago I could distract him with a toy or packet of wipes or singing but that doesn't work anymore. Even if DH is here and tries to distract him or hold him down, it's like WW3. Any tips or do I just have to tell myself it's a phase?

Kay - try Paramol (paracetamol & dihydrocodeine) or Nurofen Plus (ibuprofen & codeine) or if really desperate for a couple of days you could try Paramol and plain ibuprofen. Hth

Hi everyone else. Sorry to post and run!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 30/12/2009 09:57

Ses- sorry but it's how it happens!! as soon as they're active you can't keep them still- it's worse when they start walking and they wont lie down!! then you have to learn to do a nappy securely on a stood-up toddler!!

Kayz- dont worry about it- i've been really bad this year and didn't write a single card out for family and friends- i spent a full evening doing school and nursery ones and kept forgetting our own... until xmas day!! Too late then!!

Kayzr · 30/12/2009 10:44

Ses, Sorry but Cant is right. Once they can move that is it. I have now mastered changing with one hand so I can pin DS2 down so he doesn't crawl away. But once they get to DS1's age they normally lie still if you ask them too.

I am stupidly broody. DH has said we can start trying now if I want but I would really like the next baby to born between June and October so I have a birthday in March, one during the summer and one in December. But it is driving me mad!! I want to come of the pill so I can start working out my cycle but I am worried I will just go and get pg.

Blooming babies and hormones!!

About to watch Frost/Nixon. I hope it is as good as the hype.

FollowingYonderSTAR · 01/01/2010 09:48

Happy New Year to all you lovely Wagon ladies! Hope you all had a good evening.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. We had a lovely time, spending 6 days at my Mum's with my family. DS had a brill time - was totally hyper for most of it

Happy belated birthday to DS3 Lightning - hope you all had a good one.

Can't believe I'm the first one to post on here this year/decade! You all obviously have lives!

Trying to figure out what to do today - really would like to get out and do something.

Tomorrow off to airport to wave my DB and DSIL back off to Oz 'Tis also only 10 days 'til i'm back at work

Ah well, 3 more days of family time yet though and another week at home with the children - yay!!

DD did not deliver requested present of sleep through the night, but more and more of her nights are waking just for one feed, it is the getting to sleep in the evenings that is the problem, ah well.... is getting better. Last night she went down at 8.15, up at 2.35 for nappy change and feed, disturbed at 6.30am - think she just needed a blanket, and slept 'til 8.15am - woo hoo. I got up with DS at 7.45am. Today we're just going for one nap after lunch and see if she settles better in evening.

Right, enough of my waffle. Hope you all have great starts to the new year!

IDOBisamummy · 01/01/2010 10:23

Morning all and happy new year .

I'm after some advice if anyone can help (Ses - are you about?). One of my wisdom teeth has come through the gum and the gum is now infected. It is really really painful and is giving me earache and a headache. I went to the dentist yesterday and she gave me antibiotics (cefalexin) - they were the best ones to take when breastfeeding but she said that they would probably still 'upset' DD and I shouldn't take them if I thought it could clear up on its own . When I picked them up at the chemist I asked abut the effects on DD and they said very little got into the milk but it's always a very bad idea to take medicine when breastfeeding and she wouldn't recommend it. I mentioned I was having to take paracetamol to deal with the pain and she tutted and said I shouldn't really take them if I could help it. Now I'm a bit worried about the effects of the pills on DD but I'm in so much pain I can't just do nothing. DP pointed out I had to take loads of pills after the c-section and they encouraged me to continue feeding. What are the antibiotics likely to do - is there anything I should watch out for? Am I okay to take paracetamol (at the recommended doses) for a few days?

Star - glad you had a great xmas. It sounds as though DD is doing really well and is almost sleeping through. Enjoy your last few days with your DB/SIL and your final week off work.

FollowingYonderSTAR · 01/01/2010 10:50

IDOB - am no expert - you really need Ses, but I do know in general that antibiotics upset the natural bacteria in the gut and therefore leave the gut more exposed to bugs than normal. This is generally with everyone. So, one thing you could do (if you're into natural remedies), is get some acidophillus from a healthfood/homeopathic store and take this yourself to maintain your good bacteria. You can also get it for your DD - the osteopath I took DD to as a baby offered to get some for me for her - DD was on antibiotics after her surgery. I didn't go for it and just let breastmilk do it's work - after all the bm is the best stuff for baby's gut. So, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think it was silly of the pharmacist to worry you about taking paracetamol - it's fine! If DD does get an upset stomach (in my very unexpert opinion, I think this is the most likely side-effect for her?) then you could get the acidophillus for her - only thing is, i think you have to mix it with some milk or water (guess she's more likely to take milk) for her to take it. Anyway, as I say, my very unexpert opinion, but hope it helps. Would in any case help you to take the acidophillus while you're taking the antibiotics as it helpe maintain your gut bacteria (I do remember it says on bottle to consult your gp if pg or bfing, but mine said it was okay - she was just not very impressed by it generally, as it's natural not medicine!)

maxxymoosmummy · 01/01/2010 11:32

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! hope everyone had a great night. i was in bed asleep by 10.30 haha, but was woken by my mum at 12.10 to wish me happy new year. was half asleep though haha. hope everyone has a good day. think its a day in for me and DS as got nothing else to do.

IDOBisamummy · 01/01/2010 12:48

Thanks Star - I'll watch out for her having an upset tummy and maybe try some acidophillus just to keep myself healthy.

MMM - happy new year. We made it to 11pm then gave up and went to bed .
