Hello!!

We're back from our wkend at Center Parcs and you lot have been v chatty!! Not much hope of catching up in detail but and at all the ttc talk!

We had a great time even though O was ill Fri/Sat. He was badly sick 3 times during the night but seemed to have recovered by Sat evening. He's also been v dribbly as he's got a mild cold and has been teething with tooth no7 now through. (Think that deserves a )

Now just got the unpacking and washing to do...!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 08/02/2010 15:12

glad you had a good weekend ses...

I'm tired and wanna go to bed!!!

DH has gone to get DS from school and i'm here with a playful DD2... only mummy's too tired to play!!

DD1 has got home from nursery and her eye is full of gunky stuff- i'm pretty sure she has caught conjunctivitis- which may mean time off just before half term which may result into having her off for almost 2 solid weeks!!!! How am i gonna cope- she's such a chatterbox, never shuts up!!

Diege · 08/02/2010 17:33

Hello! Back from Cardiff and if it's any consolation to you sleep-deprived lot I had (and still have) the migraine from hell throughout the trip so didn't sleep too well. Will try and have a read through now before the tribe get in, and hopefully be back later!

maxxymoosmummy · 08/02/2010 18:56

hope you had a great time DIEGE not so good about your migraine tho hope it goes soon for you. im just going to watch the soaps now that DS is fast asleep.

maxxymoosmummy · 08/02/2010 19:24

SES sorry, gad you had a good weekend, sorry that O was ill. but at least hes over it now

Diege · 09/02/2010 10:22

Morning! Glad you were able to get some rest MMM - long may it continue!
SES, poor O! Do you think it was linked to your virus? Glad he's on the mend. How did you find Centreparks btw? Would it be good for all ages?
NAT, I think your sentence about reserving the right to change your mind sounds spot on. You have years ahead of you in which to change your mind, and things change so rapidly from one week (day!) to the next. Who knows how you and dh will feel in a year or two (even a decade!), but at least you are acknowledging your feelings. I still think it wouldn't do any harm to mention this all to dh, but then you know him a lot better than we do!
KAYZ, sounds tough at home It does sound like dh may be depressed from what you say, which is hard for all concerned. Any news on the job front?
I'm sure there's loads I've missed, so apologies . At work now, but will try to pop in again later x

cantmummyhaveabreak · 09/02/2010 11:29

Morning.

Diege- glad you had a good time.

DD1 has got conjunctivitis, phoned the docs yesterday to see if she could just get drops over the phone or if she had to see GP because of age, but we could just take her to the pharmacy and they diagnosed her there and gave her a prescription. They do it for lots now, even headlice- so whoever (DIEGE?...) it is who's DD/DD's keep getting them, maybe it'd save some pennies to do that? I mean you have to go to the pharamacy for the stuff anyway... i never knew you could get the treatment on prescription till yesterday, we've not been graced with them yet, but at least i know for future, as i expect it wont be long till DD1's hair looks like a nice nesting ground!!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 09/02/2010 11:31

oooh- diege- i now have the ebay bug again... have another 8 items listed... and having a massive sort throguh of more things to sell, we have 2 camcorders, both of which dont actually get used, but one was given to us by DH's grandparents, so i think we're selling our old one, watched one almost the same sell for £59 yesterday!! thats another good chunk towards the dining room floor!!

tinksbabyis1 · 09/02/2010 15:39

hi to everyone else

tinksbabyis1 · 09/02/2010 15:40

off to tesco tonite my adventure of the week food shopping got vouchers in the post

Diege · 09/02/2010 17:11

Hi CANT! I didn't realise pharmacies could prescribe. That's really good to know, and will save a trekking up to the gps for minor things. I must ring up about the swine flu vaccine for dd3 and ds - dreading taking them, but I would feel very guilty of they got it and hadn't been vaccinated. Good going on e-bay - I just don't have the motivation to list at the moment, though I have loads to sell. Not sure if it's still worth selling winter stuff, or are people now looking towards summer?
Hi TINKS - enjoy your tesco shop - don't think I would, although quite like slipping little extras from clothes section into trolley. I do it online now as not my fave sort of shopping at all!
Right, need to get dd3 and ds from nursery. Hope everyone's ok - quiet on here today!

maxxymoosmummy · 09/02/2010 17:18

hey everyone
im sooo proud of DS hes properly mastered standing unaided and now walking with it theres no stopping him now. its all hes been doing for the past few hours that weve been home. hes soo proud of himself too as hes always clapping when hes got to where he wants to be

essenceofSES · 09/02/2010 18:03

The pharmacies being able to prescribe thing is dependant on where you live unfortunately. It's up to the PCT to draw up a scheme and get pharmacists signed up. It's called a "minor ailments service".
Gradually more and more PCTs are doing it but IMHO it would make much more sense if the DoH commissioned a national service! I guess that's why they don't market it much as not everyone does it!

MMM - clever Max

Cant - hope the conjunctivitis clears up quickly for her.

Kay - just looked back at your posts about DH. It is really tough for anyone out of work but I think a dad really feels it as he sees his role as bringing in the money and supporting the household. I guess it's hard but he needs to start opening up to you more. DH did this yesterday about a problem he had at work and it made the world of difference - I understood why he spent the afternoon on his laptop and I unloaded the car and unpacked. If he hadn't explained, I'd have been a bit resentful.

Rugby - great that C has started sleeping better. Hope this phase lasts a long time!

Diege - I also end up looking at clothes if I go into Tesco. I generally get my groceries delivered as it controls my spending!
Center Parcs was just great and I'd say definitely suitable for all ages. They had different playgrounds for different age groups, great swimming pools, cycle hire with baby carriers, spa, about 5 different restaurants as well as a Starbucks and a open plan bar with tv for football & rugby and just about every activity you can think of from water sports to archery to golf to badminton, ten-pin bowling, climbing wall and loads more. The supermarket on site was good to and not marked up v much.
O also loved the creche he went to on Sunday morning. I got a little report card (he settled immediately; he ate all his snack; he slept from 11.20,etc. Also got his first piece of art to put on the fridge door - a sheet with 6 of his footprints and a little ryhme about his stay at Center Parcs.
Can you tell we liked it??!

DS is definitely over his stomach bug but now has a streaming cold. Almost constantly needing to wipe his nose which (obviously!) he hates.

We had a breakthrough last night though. I put him to bed as normal and was then meeting friends in Crawley for pizza. Within 5mins of driving down the road (onto the M23) DH phoned me to tell me he was awake. He said that if he told me to come home, he knew I wouldn't be happy so it was up to me! With that, the motorway infront of me was closed due to an accident so I had no choice - I was stuck! I talked DH through taking DS up to his room in dim light, standing with him on his shoulder, talk or sing quietly to him, expect him to cry for 10mins or so and he should drop off.
DH has never wanted to try before but as he had no choice, gave it a go. First time, O woke up as he was put in his cot, second time it worked a treat
All obvious stuff I know but just pleased DH has done it now, so can do it again!

essenceofSES · 09/02/2010 18:03

Sorry - that was back to my v wordy and waffly best!

Kayzr · 09/02/2010 18:17

Just getting ready to go out. Friends birthday so we are out for dinner. Mum is having the boys which is nice.

Ses, glad centerparcs was good. MIL is taking DS1 there in March. I hope he will enjoy it. Going to miss him so much though.

GruffaloSoldier · 09/02/2010 19:29

Evening all,

Diege - sorry for the migraine when you were away, hope youre ok now!

Cant - Good going on ebay! I have got some bits and pieces to pu t on there but never quite get round to it!

Enjoy Tesco shopping TINK, I went this morning on my own, it was quite nice

Ses - glad weekend went well, and yay for O settling for DH, lets hope it has given him a confident boost!

MMM - yay for Max, he will soon be there!

GC is walking non stop now, he is definitely there. He does it with his arms waving in the air sometimes and its so fuuny! I'm still going to hold off on the proper shoes though as he isn't even 10 months yet!Dont want to cram his feed into shoes until I really have to.Going to wait a couple of weeks and will then think about getting his feet measured, his feet are enormous aswell!

Two babies born at the weekend, 2 little girls on the same day. My cousin and a friend. Makes me soooo broody

My Dsis is due at end of April

Right I must go and get on with my chores as DH is at work over night tonight. Hello to anyone Ive missed!

GruffaloSoldier · 09/02/2010 19:30

maxxymoosmummy · 10/02/2010 07:51

mornin everyone,
earliest i have been up in months, but i woke at 6.50, and went back to sleep but now im stayin awake as if i go back to sleep it will probs be a mad ruch again to get to 'litle angels' with max for 10.
he is still fast asleep.
anybody upto much today? hope everyone has a good day.

Diege · 10/02/2010 10:18

Morning! MMM Max sounds so cute esp with being so pleased with himself
SES, that's interesting about pharmacies. I assume it's an issue for pharamacists re: work pressures/wages etc as with most jobs that have added responsibilities. See why the NHS are keeping it quiet - will have to ask my lot quietly! CPs sounds brill - like the idea of a creche too
Hope your night out went well KAYZ, sounds lovely.
Hi GRUFF, do I sense you will be on the ttc list soon?
Anyone see 'One born every minute' last night? Have to say it did temper my broodiness a little!
Marking and more marking planned for today - migraine has set me back, but they are sooo difficult to mark, not to mention a very boring read.
Oh and ds fell off the bed this morning for the first time. Felt very as I was faffing about in the bathroom with my new Liz Earle face stuff (v.nice). I had forgotten he is now mobile!
Back later x

tinksbabyis1 · 10/02/2010 12:04

afternoon jus

enjoyed tesco last nite snuck in a playdoh fun factory 50th anniversary toy for dd1 and feeding bowls and spoons for dd2

bracken stands up on her own for a few minutes is so close to walking

sounds like u had fun last nite kay

hi diege

cantmummyhaveabreak · 10/02/2010 12:58

Diege- i watched 'one born every minute' this morning (via sky+) and i was sooooo broody, but i also know just how the lady felt after her section with not being allowed over to see her baby... thats kinda how it was for me, they just couldn't get me over to see her.

GS- wow on GC walking so soon. I'd say if he has big feet you should be able to get some clarks curisers, i find the girls ones are very loose and ideal for around the house.

DD1 seems much better with her conjunctivitis, but today she's very warm and sleepy... wonder if she's picked up something aswell, gonna keep an eye on her as she's really wanting to be abck at nursery, she has a chinese new year themed open morning for doing activities with parents, and she wants daddy to go with her, he's never managed to be off for an open day with her yet, so if she's well i'm staying home with DD2. He also then has the same themed afternoon with DS in reception.

Then i start my BFN course on friday!! wuhoo!!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 10/02/2010 13:00

oh also diege- was going to say, i think most people are swaying towards spring/summer items now, but it may be worth hanging onto the bits you have and list them during the summer hols sort of time as thats when they'll start buying for winter. I had 3 coats listed, all beautiful, and only one sold- for 99p... i'm gonna keep hold of the other 2 and sell at the right time as they are stunning!!

Kayzr · 10/02/2010 13:26

Hello.

We had a really good night out. It was so nice to go out without the boys.

I really enjoyed that one born every minute. It's good to see how maternity wards work.

I have no idea what is going on with my cycle. Apparently I haven't ovulated and I have got loads of brown blood(sorry tmi). I am quite confused.

essenceofSES · 10/02/2010 15:21

I didn't see One Born Every Minute. From what you've all said I wish I had!

Kay - glad you had a good evening out. DH and I are going out for our first "date" since O was born on Saturday night. Nice meal somewhere. I'd better get on the phone and book!
Don't know about your cycle unless a) you're pg or b) you've had a cycle without ovulating which I believe happens more often than we think.

Gruff - I'm with you on holding back from using shoes too soon. I've put O in some Babux soft "unstructured" shoes though just to keep his socks on.

Cant - hope DD1 picks up for her event at nursery tomorrow
Yay for BFN course

Tink - good shopping at Tesco

Diege - good luck with the marking. Doesn't sound fun.

The thing with minor ailments is that to be able to provide the service, pharmacists have to attend the training and do some CPD. That's to be expected but we don't get paid any extra for attending any evening training. GPs always get extra payments for training and so this is a bit of a bone of contention. I sit on our Local Pharmaceutical Committee which helps negotiate payments for services and it's amazing how much GPs get (probably deservedly) whereas we don't get anything. It's one of many services that we can provide and they are generally v well received because of how accessible pharmacies are.
I'll get off my soap box now!

O is not having a good day. So far he's banged his head, got a v snotty nose, is coughing, bit the inside of his mouth so that there was a fair bit of blood for a couple of minutes and finally been sick (due to his cold I think). I've given him some paracetamol and he's now watching Fireman Sam (sure to cheer him up!) and he's doing a bit better.
I hope he's better tomorrow as he's got another 4hrs settling in at nursery.
