essenceofSES · 01/01/2010 19:36

Just checking in. We're up in Lake District visiting DB&SIL. Not having a great new year as one of our dogs taken really ill and has been in vets up here since yesterday morning. Vet said she wouldn't have made it through the day yesterday if we hadn't taken her She's on a drip, antibiotics and pain relief. Not sure what cause is yet and she's not out of the woods yet.
Also SIL fell on ice and broke ice.
We're due to drive back down on Sun.

Anyway....
IDOB - what Star has said is quite right. If it were me, I'd take paracetamol and ABs. Paracetamol should have no effect on DD and ABs may be mild stomach upset. If necessary I'd take ibuprofen for pain as well - still nowhere near as strong as what they give after CS.

Star - at going back to work. I think Ginger is about to go back too.

Hello to everyone else and Happy New Year!

essenceofSES · 01/01/2010 19:40

Also meant to say...
Hello MMM! Good to see you back!

Tink - sorry you and DDs were sick at Christmas. Hope your new year much better.

Re: DS moving. I guess I knew that it's just what happens. I've just not come up with my strategy to combat it yet!

IDOBisamummy · 01/01/2010 19:58

Thanks Ses! That's pretty much what I thought before I spoke to the dentist and pharmacist but they did worry me a bit. Luckily it's feeling a bit better so I can ease up on the paracetamol today.

So so sorry about your dog . Thank goodness you took her in. I hope you get some good news about her soon. Poor SIL as well.

maxxymoosmummy · 01/01/2010 20:52

SES - sorry to hear about your dog. hope she is well soon. and you find out whats going on.

essenceofSES · 01/01/2010 21:57

Thanks IDOB & MMM.
Meant to say SIL fell on ice and broke her wrist

maxxymoosmummy · 01/01/2010 22:36

Rugbylovingmum · 03/01/2010 15:50

Hi all,

it's IDOB - I thought it was time for a name change.

We are suffering from a major lack of storage space post-xmas and we have spent today having a major clear out. We don't have much wardrobe space so I'm going to have to get rid of my maternity clothes. I'm not planning on ttc for a couple of years at least so there's no point hanging onto them for now (plus I am just back into my bigger pre-pregnancy clothes but this bad weather is encouraging me to eat more and do less and I'm worried I might be wearing the maternity bits again in a few weeks if I keep them ). I just wanted to see whether any wagoneers wanted them - quite a few bits came from Cant via the wagon. I didn't buy much so they have been fairly well worn and some are a little bobbled but would be fine for at home. The clothes are all sizes 14-18 but mostly size 16. I don't want any money for any of it. I have:

2 pairs of jeans (under-bump, elastic band at front)
2 pairs of black trousers (1 on and 1 over-bump)
1 pair linen trousers
1 pair black cords (over bump)
4 or 5 tops
1 striped shirt - 3 buttons at top, light material and loose fit.
1 grey cardie (bit bobbled)
1 pair purple pj's with robe (not maternity but loose).

I also have a ring sling from Cant and a babasling - DD absolutely hates both and just screams but loves her baby bjorn carrier so we just use that. Please let me know if you can use any of this.

Kayzr · 03/01/2010 16:23

Hello,

Rugby, Love the new name!! I was quite tempted by the clothes but I am determined to be at least a 12 by the time we TTC so will be too big for me.

I have something to suggest to everyone. If anyone is wanting to lose weight and get fitter how about doing this. It is a 5k run at the end of March to raise money for Macmillan cancer support. I am doing it as I am insane but I have wanted to take up running for a while now. It is being done in virtual relays so that it adds up to a marathon. I think at the last count we have enough runners for about 14 marathons.

maxxymoosmummy · 03/01/2010 16:55

hi everyone. sorry im here to moan. as im really annoyed and upset at my DS father. DS went to his dads for the afternoon, and wasnt too well. he was sick a few times. but when he got home he still had the same outfit that he went in on, and really smelt of sick. just feel so mad with him. and sorry for max for having to sit in that same top for a bit when there was spare outfit in his bag :@ just so angry.

FollowingYonderSTAR · 03/01/2010 21:01

Oh MMM - sorry for you and Max. Sorry that he is ill and that he sat in sicky clothes. Sounds rubbish - hopefully his Dad will get better at parenting as he goes on . Btw - saw photos of Max on Cants fb profile - he is a cutie.

IDOB - know what you mean about needing a clear-out. That's the good thing trouble with having a loft - it just all gets thrown up there - I've put my maternity clothes up there even though we're not having any more (... whistles ... sticks fingers in ears ... no, really DH has said we're not...). Just boxed up all DD's 6-9 month clothes as she's over 9.5 months now and has a really well stocked 9-12 month wardrobe curtesy of hand-me-downs from friends, her DB's old clothes and some lovely Christmas pressies. How do our children's wardrobes always rival our own?!

Ses - so sorry to hear about your dog and SIL. Hope your dog is on the mend now.

Kayz - yay for ttcing this year - how exciting!!

Right, should be doing plenty of other things....

essenceofSES · 03/01/2010 21:49

Hi all!

Back from Cumbria. Jessie (dog) is hanging on in. We picked her up from vet yesterday afternoon so we could bring her home today and I'm taking her to our vet tomorrow. She's on 3 lots of tablets which is a struggle to get down her and they think it's a problem with her pancreas.

SIL is frustrated but fine. Will be in plaster for 4-6 weeks.

On top of all that, mum has been annoying us all so much! All little stuff but it got to the stage where SIL took herself off to town to go to the pub get some milk. We also started a sweep stake on how many times mum could ask one person if they were ok in half an hour! Also (bearing in mind we were in The Lake District) when I pointed out the stunning view of mountains with sun shining on the snow, she said "yes, they go up and down like hills"!!

MMM - that's rubbish about DS's dad. Hopefully he'll learn.

maxxymoosmummy · 03/01/2010 22:28

ye hopefully he will learn will probs take him a while as DS is nearly 1 now. just wound me up and got me annoyed that i had to let it out somewhere. thankyou STAR think he would have changed alot from those pics. so grown up now time flies by too quickly.

tink2010 · 04/01/2010 09:50

morning

so glad school back peace @ last!! so cold though!!! grrrrrrr

any tips on introducing cows milk to bracken?

maxxymoosmummy · 04/01/2010 09:56

im not expert tink but with my DS the past 2 days ive tried him with a cup of cows milk in the afternoon. but also been mixing it with his foods before this for the past few months. not sure if this is a good way to go about it. but jus started and he has drank it both days. if anyone knows if im going the wrong way about it please let me know. as i just dont know with being a young first time mum.

Kayzr · 04/01/2010 12:36

Tink, I have just given it to him. He has drunk straight away and we haven't had any fuss.

Moosy · 04/01/2010 13:15

When I changed my two on to cows milk I did it gradually over a few days - mix it in with their normal milk in their cup/bottle/whatever. Start with a small amount then increase it over a few days until it's all cows milk.

HV came this morning and weighed F again, she's not been growing well On day 5 she was 5.5oz below her birth weight, on day 15 she was still 3.5oz below, day 17 she was up 2oz. 8 days later she'd only put on 3oz and now after 4 more days she's lost those 3oz again and is back down to 2.5oz below her birth weight She sent us to the Dr who checked her over and said she's healthy, there's nothing wrong with her, he can't see any reason for her stinky watery green poo, and to carry on doing what I'm doing (BFing on demand) but to top her up with formula too just to get some more calories into her. I'm annoyed that I have to as I was SO determined to BF her but I have to be sensible and not starve her! DH has just been and bought some formula

RuDiegetheRedNosedReinDiege · 04/01/2010 13:22

Hello!!!!!! This is the first time I have been able to get online (first day back at work) as we're still not connected in the new house . I have missed you all so much and can't wait to get back to it all. I know I will have missed so much (MOOS and the baby!!!!)but will try and pick things up as I go along.
I'm fine, though a bit about returning to work. The new house is great, so much better for us, and while we had a share of the poorlies over xmas, touch wood everyone is as well as can be expected with this weather. Dare I ask anyone for a mini summary of the last month??
