Cant, they won't sterlise during CS anymore as 75% of the time they don't work as everything is stretched.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 02/02/2010 13:07

ah poo- thats buggered my plan... well i'm sure i'll still be able to get sterilised very easily, my GP was sure i'd be ok having it done when i'd asked when PG with DD2... good job we didn't take it any further!!

GruffaloSoldier · 02/02/2010 14:10

Afternoon Ladies!

Another poorly here!GC has been bad since Sunday, had the worst night I have ever had with him Sunday night. Me and DH did hourly shifts through the night, as he was up at least once if not twice an hour. He had a high temp of 38.9 at the highest for 24 hours He is really snotty now, but temp has stayed down.

On the bright side, as he is off his solids he has learned to sign milk :-) such a clever boy letting mummy know what he needs. Its so hard to know what to give them when they are ill. He is also saying "duck" at his cuddly toy duck and a duck in a book. Saying mama and dada loads too (although Dada more )

Im enjoying all the snuggles wrapped in blankets though, he usually hasn't got time for them!

LOL at all the baby talk. I want one too so bad. I am waiting to find out about the doctorate any day as the interviews are in March. Then places are allocated by 26th March. If I dont get it then me and DH will decide what to do about DC2 I would like to get a house first though, which means I will have to get a job, even if its just nannying with GC in tow.

Ginger - hope you are feeling better, nightmare about all the illness you have had to deal with already! Have work been ok about it? I hope they have. Fingers crossed you and SG have had your quota now!

Star - hello! ooh exciting talk about DC3, hope you feel better soon. Hope you manage to stay awake snuggled up on the sofa!

well done on the shopping Tinks, that has just reminded me i have next vouchers to use up oooooh!

Diege - I meant to say before, thank you for your kind words re my mum and me coping etc

and everyone else who have offered words of support.Thank you!

Hello Ses, Kayz, Cant, MMM, NJ, Gin,Moosy, anyone else lurking...

tinksbabyis1 · 02/02/2010 17:11

gruff - poor gc glad temp down

good luck spending vouchers

tinksbabyis1 · 02/02/2010 17:18

Rugbylovingmum · 02/02/2010 18:41

Hi all,

sorry I haven't time to catch up properly - just sneaking on while DH has a bite to eat. He is working silly hours just now as they are 'rearranging' jobs in his office. Its a pain but better than the threatened redundancies!

Does anyone have any top tips for encouraging LOs to take a bottle. C was happily taking the occassional bottle before the hols (either expressed milk or formula) but I left my breast pump at my parents over xmas and we didn't offer a bottle for a few weeks. Now she is just refusing to try the bottle - I've been trying with expressed milk, have tried at different times of the day and DH has tried so she isn't expecting me to feed her. I've tried 2 different bottles, warming the teats, before, after or between feeds but she just cries and pushes the bottle away. She isn't sleeping well just now so it would be great if DP could give her an occassional feed so I can get some sleep and I always intended to cut down on the feeds after 6 months. I'd like to just give 2 or 3 breastfeeds and give bottles in between so I have a little more freedom (I feel a bit guilty saying I want a break from her but it would be lovely to have an afternoon to myself sometime in the next couple of months).

Oops - that was a bit of a ramble. Hope you are all having a good week and I'll be back on on Thursday when DP goes to the office.

Rugbylovingmum · 02/02/2010 20:00

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the most important reason I want her to take a bottle . I am going in to hospital to have my 4 wisdom teeth out in March (under GA) so I can't feed for a day - I could put it off but I have had an infection in the gum where the tooth has broken through twice since xmas and all the antibiotics and painkillers twice a month can't be good for either of us.

essenceofSES · 02/02/2010 23:16

Hello!

Rugby - wisdom teeth sounds v painful, poor you! DH tried to give O some formula at the wkend when I was ill and he just pushed the bottle away with his hand
I'm sorry I don't have any hints for you other than a friend of mine who's DS wouldn't take a bottle of EBM or FF eventually did after (literally!) weeks of daily persistence.

Gruff - clever GC!!! I wanted to do baby signing with O but haven't managed to fit in a class before going back to work. Do you go to a class or have you taught him at home?

Tink - lots of sorting needed here, if you get bored come over!

Cant - the rate your timescales keep changing, DC4 will be here this year &

Star - sorry you're feeling under the weather. Thank goodness you could work from home.
I'm with you on lots of conflicting thoughts buzzing round my head about next DC. Sometimes it just doesn't feel like a good idea practically...
O's sleeping has got a lot better though. Over the last 3 weeks he's only had to come into bed once and has woken more than once only 3 or 4 times. He had 4 teeth come through over Christmas and New Year so I think that probably didn't help him and so things are better now.

Kay - Did you fit a GOF in??!

Ginger - the towel idea seems a good one but I hope am sure it will be one of those things that you will work your way through when it happens butI know that doesn't help now...

MMM - hope you feel better tomorrow

Nat - are you lurking? How was the weekend and how are you?

Right, I must go off to bed. O's got another session in nursery tomorrow for 4 hours in the middle of the day. One of my NCT friends has her daughter going at the same time so we're thinking we might go shopping or to the cinema whilst we're on our own.
At the wkend we've then got our Center Parcs trip so I need to get sorted for that too!

maxxymoosmummy · 03/02/2010 07:53

morning everyone. ive been awake most of the night again, dont know wether or not to take max to the little angels group just dont want to pass anything on, but then again wont everybody have a bit of a cold? just dont know what to do. still fairly bad with it myself. but DS hasnt got any worse. so im now dosing myself up on cold / flu capsules, olbas oil and halls all the time.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 03/02/2010 09:12

Ses- i think your right!! I'm super desperate and I honestly dont know how it's come about- after what i went throguh having DD2 i'm sure i should be scared for life- but no, i still want another- even looking at 7 seater cars today online for a rough idea of price...

Rugby- just keep trying, it took me about 3 weeks to get DD2 to take a bottle, but she eventually did and she's more than happy to take one now and again.

DS is going out for tea after school!! The first time ever, we had his best friend over last monday, now he's going to his friends house. He wont be home till about 6.30pm.... i'm already missing him!!

Diege · 03/02/2010 10:22

Hello! Back from London last night. Trip was good, if tiring (shouldn't complain I know after a night away!). GINGER (and any other Londoners) will def give you a shout next time I'm down that way - would be great to have a mini-meet-up!
All this ttc talk is very exciting - I think my money is on either CANT or KAYZ being first, but then we also have STAR, SES, GRUFF, LG&T....and the list will go on!
MMM It sounds like you are really poorly Try and rest up as best you can x
SES enjoy your time off today - cinema sounds a real treat!
Good luck GRUFF with finding out about the doctorate! Let us know asap!
Hello to everyone esle. Boss is lurking in corridor so better go!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 03/02/2010 10:41

Glad you had a good trip Diege... I'd get PG tomorrow if it were just up to me... I want a P&T!! If i wait much longer i'll prob not need one as DD2 will be too grown up!!

Have decided we should get a fiat multipla as it has 6 seats- perfect!! We can get a 10yr old one (we always get older cars as can't afford brand new) with good mileage for under 2k!! Best get saving!!

Diege · 03/02/2010 10:50

Sounds like a plan CANT! So has dh come round to no.4 yet? (like the name btw of your dd to be ) May is dd1's middle name. If I had another dd it would be 'Tabitha' is think (too many friends dds are called Matilda, my first choice). Not that it is ever going to happen!!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 03/02/2010 11:19

erm..... he's coming round to my way of thinking!! Daisy is a name i loved for DD1 & 2 but he didn't like it then... when I said Daisy May he liked it... A DS would be Oliver Andrew

Diege · 03/02/2010 11:27

Hee hee, excellent . Oliver is lovely. Would have been my fave for ds, but with Wood as a surname may have had 'Olly Wood' (ged it? )

Kayzr · 03/02/2010 11:56

Morning,

Cant, Oliver was my favorite name for DS2 but I really can't stand Olly so we decided not to use it. I love Nico for a boy, but DH wont let me.

NatalieJane · 03/02/2010 12:33

Hello everyone

All this baby talk, it is exciting Sorry for all the poorlies, there are so many things going round at the moment, you'd think all of the frost and ice would kill a lot of the bugs off, but it seems not.

Diege, glad you're trip went well

Can't, we're doing the car hunting thing again, have decided I really don't like ours, I just can't get comfy in it, DH is off today so he has rang the place where we got it from (Evan's Halshaw) and they've said they'd take it back as a part x for £5500, we can make that up a bit, probably £6000-£6500, so it's whether or not we can find anything for that. FWIW, we always bought brand new cars, and lost so much money on each of them, it just got ridiculous, now, unless we had so much money it wouldn't matter, I'd never buy new again, we tend to go somewhere between 2 and 3 years, but the milage bothers us more, I'd rather have an older car with less miles on, than a younger car with more miles IYKWIM?

Weekend was good, bit busy on Saturday (22 people for dinner, and then all the kids it was favouring a zoo for a while!) the twins are absolutely gorgeous, like little tiny dolls, DS1 and 2 were heartbroken coming home. Had a very overdue heart to heart type conversation with my mum about a load of stuff that went on when I got married, felt like we'd put a lot of it to bed, it was anyway, but it was just nice to finally get some answers, nothing earth shatteringly exceptional, just to lay the last ghosts down! And DH and I had Sunday night at the hotel, the kids were fantastic bless them! Deffo doing that again!

Right DH and DS2 just got back - end of peace, will be back properly tomorrow xxx

tinksbabyis1 · 03/02/2010 12:41

hi ladies

hi nat

glad u had a good time diege

rugby - good luck with bottles

enjoyed jolly babies

maxxymoosmummy · 03/02/2010 13:29

Been to the little angels group this morning with max, but still feeling drained and drowsy. DS is having a nap so im just relaxing on here. as cant sleep.
also nee dto do the housework but id rather get that done inbetween playing with DS when hes awake as i dont get to relax so much when hes awake.
its only a cold i have but its really taking it out of me this one. just hope it goes soon.
all this talk about babies and TTC is making me want another. but i know it just isnt possible.

Kayzr · 03/02/2010 13:49

MMM, I am sure you'll have another baby in the future. Remember you are our Wagon baby!!! I saw on FB what happened to your straighteners.

maxxymoosmummy · 03/02/2010 14:29

i know i hope so, i do really want another and if i could id have one now.
and ye im sooo gutted. cnt afford anymore atm either

Diege · 03/02/2010 14:45

MMM agree with KAYZ, you are very young and I'm sure you'll have more babies!
So what happended to the hair straighteners then?

maxxymoosmummy · 03/02/2010 14:53

i ended up standing on them my own fault as left them on bedroom floor. was in a rush to get DS up and ready. and forgot they was there. they still work and heat up, but there snapped so arent useable

and ye maybe i will, just dont see a future with more babies atm. so will just have to wait and see

well the weather forecast was accurate today, said there will be snow around 3pm, and guess what ... its just started snowing slightly.

essenceofSES · 03/02/2010 17:48

Hello!!

Nat - glad wkend went ok

MMM - they're right, plenty of time I started to think I'd never have any DC but then I suddenly met DH and everything fell into place.

Tink - jolly babies sounds good!

Diege - glad trip was ok. We'll definitely have to arrange a mini meet up next time!

LOL at discussing baby names I really like Esther atm for a girl but have no idea for a boy.
Cant - my DH has the same name as your DS and DH's middle name is Oliver!

My parents have caught norovirus from us. I feel v guilty and when I spoke to my mum she just enforced my guilt. I feel it's my fault they're ill and she's blaming me. Not good as I should primarily be feeling sorry for them and sympathetic.

O did another 4hrs in nursery today from 10.30-2.30. He seemed ok when I picked him up (although he'd spilt his water all down his top!) He'd had a little sleep and ate lots of lunch. When I got there to pick him up, they were all singing nursery rhymes!
Whilst he was there, we went and saw the latest George Clooney at the cinema and I bought a pair of jeans and a purple jumper from Next.

maxxymoosmummy · 03/02/2010 18:03

DS has jus stood up from sitin down for the first time without holding onto anything :D sooo happy.
