Gruff - don't worry about "going on", I frequently do about various things and I don't make as much sense as you! A good BF counsellor is so important and one that lives in the "real" world. I know I can sometimes seem overly pro-BF but at the end of the day the health of the baby is paramount and that doesn't always mean BF.

Proud Mother alert - O has pulled himself up to standing for the first time today. Once on the bars of his playpen and once in his cot

maxxymoosmummy · 28/01/2010 21:59

awwww great well done O there will be no stopping him now haha.

largeginandtonic · 29/01/2010 07:14

I suggest you sit him down quickly

Blue was doing this at 8 months. I kept sitting her down but it made no difference. The horror got up and walked at 10 months. She is balrdy running now

I still havn't got her any shoes The snow thwarted us and then i hurt my back followed by this hideous Norovirus. I must do it next weekend.

I have been up most of the night with her, she is still getting hot and is very unsettled. I am wondering if there is some other infection somewhere. I may take her back to the doc's today. You have to sit and wait in ours, can take hours sometimes.

The children are playing sharks. My front room is covered in a big blanket (the boat) and one of the twins is the shark. It is noisy.

Must get them down the stairs for breakfast.

NatalieJane · 29/01/2010 07:41

Morning

Ses, don't they suddenly seem so grown up when they start standing? But then you look at them and they're still so small and it seems so wrong that they are standing!

Can't, hope you managed to sleep, and if not hope Skins was as good as you were hoping, silver linings and all that!

Diege, I still can't believe the way you were treated. And all the silly questions, they are just ridiculous

Gruff, I think/feel the same way as you, if mum and baby are both happy/able then of course BF-ing is the way to go, if something get's in the way of it, then formula really isn't the work of the devil. You can't win in this country, there seems to be a great big divide re. BF/FF, you're either labeled a bit of an odd ball for wanting to put your baby anywhere near your nipple, and akin to a child abuser to boot, or you obviously don't love your child enough to BF It's the same with a lot of things, lot's of people think it's their way or the highway, why people can't just let others get on with what they're doing, as long as it's not hurting anyone, I'll never understand.

Pretty shitty night, pains/aches/bleeding peaked around 2 this morning, still a bit tender and a bit heavy now but nowhere near as bad as earlier, am a bit shattered now though and we've got 200 miles to drive tonight. Hopefully the worst of it is over now. I just hope my sister/BIL can behave theirselves, I'm not sure I'll be able to keep my mouth shut for very long this weekend, feel like I could explode now, add those two into the picture and it isn't going to be pretty. See, am getting cross at the thought of them, must keep repeating

NatalieJane · 29/01/2010 07:45

Sorry x posts. Hope you get to see the doc, it does seem to have been going on for a while now from what you've said.

Kayzr · 29/01/2010 07:50

Morning,

Ses, well done O!!! Hope his jab goes well.

Diege, You had better complain missus!!! The bloody cheek of that woman!! I hope the new DR's is much better.

Nat, try to take it easy if possible. Just say what you want about sis/bil to DH when you are alone.

Gruff, I also agree with you. Did you hear Clare say that BF was liking giving the baby coca cola???? I was . I do think it should obviously be a personal choice, but MWs need much more training.

tinksbabyis1 · 29/01/2010 09:15

ses - thankyou and well done to o for standing how clever

nat - try and relax sounds like the journey is the last thing you need!! glad the bleeding is better

mornin, had a bad night in gettin DS to sleep. he just wasnt tired, ended up falling asleep around 9.30
he also woke earlier than norml just talking away to himself, and now im feeling rotten. jus hope i can get a nap when DS goes down n hope i feel better after it.

Diege · 29/01/2010 10:23

Morning! Thanks again for all your support on the smear front. Was starting to get stupid last night, worrying that her not finding my cervix meant that there was something 'sinister' going on Stupid I know, but with my track record they're something I dread.
SES, well done on O, though echo what LG&T says - get him back down on his back under the baby gym J isn;t really sitting up as such yet, sort of half way there, but it's all too much like hard work for him
GRUFF don't yoou dare worry about supposedly 'going on'! I was thinking about you at 5.30 this morning when J woke up - not sure why, you just popped into my mind and I started wondering about your mum - how is she at the moment, and how are you coping? Don't mean to be intrusive, so don't feel you have to answer.
LG&T, sounds a rough night you have there, though how you remain so cheerful and actually do things with your children amazes me! I's be tempted to stick them all in front of the box with a 6 pack of crisps
KAYZ, yes will complain I think, not least because I can imagine how that attitude and treament may effect someone else. Honestly, what a nutter...arghh, starting to get cross again! Forms are filled now for new gps, so will drop off today.
Ooh NAT take it easy with the housework! I don;t envy you your weekend, but you've got a good attitude (better than I would) so good luck and it'll be over soon...well, soon-ish
TINKS, are you ok? I didn't realise you were on ADS, though I have picked up on anxiety issues in ther past (sorry, not meaning to sound like I'm stalking you or something ). Hope things settle down for you xxx On a different note, I have just taken in a huge mini-boden box - for next door who are out . Feels very odd!
Hello to everyone else - I'm sure I've missed someone out!

maxxymoosmummy · 29/01/2010 10:24

actually thinking about taking DS out on his bike whilst the sun is here. haha. fresh air may do us some good.

Starshinetiger · 29/01/2010 10:46

Sun, you have sun MMM - is practically dark here still!

maxxymoosmummy · 29/01/2010 10:50

ye sun and blue skies first time in months, its nice

Diege · 29/01/2010 10:59

Hi both! Sun here too I am having to take dd3 and ds to the local playbarn after promising all week that we would go . I don;t want to go (tired, lazy) but I know that the consequences of not going will be far worse. Have thought of waiting till after school and taking the lot of them, but know that come 3.30 that would feel very short-sighted!
Right, I'd better get off my arse and get going! Enjoy getting out with ds MMM; the fresh air should help after your bad night . Hi STAR, how are things with you?

GruffaloSoldier · 29/01/2010 11:05

Yeah its yucky here. I have the car today though Had it yesterday and we went to a soft play with a baby area with NCT group - had a great time but GC fell over and now has carpet burn (thin scrape) on his forehead and nose. he SCREAMED his head off. everyone was looking SO embarrassed. What? have they never been there???? although I did say "sh*t" quite loudly which probably didn't help

Diege - I am ok. I have my good days and bad days. I remain positive most of the time but then every so often it creeps in and grabs hold of me without me realising and then I'm "consumed" with it for a while. And then it leaves me be again, until the next time. My sisters are the same, up and down, but we are a great strength of support for each other. I'm very lucky really and DH is always there for me. One family member told another distant family member I was "in denial" WTF?? Two internal messages and she thinks she knows me Of course it would have nothing to do with the fact that I have enough support in my immediate family and dont feel the need to bang on about it in a FB message?? FFS (rant over) If getting on with my life and remaining as positive as I can for the sake of my child is in denial then shoot me now...grrr!

Ahhhh thats better. Thanks for asking Diege
Hope you an apt soon at the new practice to put your mind at rest.

Tink - Im with you on the Friday feeling! wahoo!

NJ - have a good weekend - hope all is ok and youre coping too x

hello everyone else!

GruffaloSoldier · 29/01/2010 11:07

That was supposed to be two internal messages on FB LOL!

maxxymoosmummy · 29/01/2010 12:08

well i still havemt got out yet as DS has jus decided he wants to go to sleep, and has fell asleep in the middle of the living room. bless him. so looks like im doing house work for abit. hope to still get out this afternoon tho.

tinksbabyis1 · 29/01/2010 12:17

tinksbabyis1 · 29/01/2010 12:19

www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Girls-Coats-Jackets/35050/Girls-Jersey-Lined-Anorak.html

will have to get this jacket next month yummy ;p

NatalieJane · 29/01/2010 13:19

stopped to get DS's their lunch an hour ago and now can't be bothered to move again

Still, all the clothes are sorted, toiletries done, stuff for the hotel done, all their pressies are done, got to sort out DS3's bottles and nappies (though was quite clever and got a shop delivered to my mum's with wipes and formula and all the other consumable faff, oh and a box of wine, so I don't need to sort all of that out at least!) need to fumigate the highchair, and the kids actually, just realised their not even dressed yet , sort some toys though not going mad, they've got xmas and bday pressies down there, and last but not least the travel cot and bedding, and the ready beds... not even sure where we "put them away"

We might be ready to go before midnight!

Tink, I'm with you on the nosing at other people's deliveries! When we moved in nearly every day next door but one was having something delivered, toys, not that I nosed , turns out she runs a toy business thing (sort of sim. set up to Ann Summers but with toys, ermmm kid's toys!) and with it coming up to Christmas then, she was obviously pretty busy. It was fun though, hunting down where she'd bought it from, how much she'd spent LOL I do realise I sound like some mad toy stalker now BTW!

Gruff, hope GC's head is OK, bless him, bet it stung like mad. And big grrrrr to certain family members.

MMM, we had sun and blue sky until about 15 minutes ago, it has suddenly gone cloudy and the sun is going, I'd get out while you can if it's on it's way up to you!

Diege, ummm, enjoy the playbarn... not sure if that's the word I'm looking for? I don't know how you do it on your own, I've tried taking DS2 and 3 while DS1 is at school, DS2 won't go off on his own, I can't go with DS3, can't leave him behind obviously, DS2 ends up either tantruming, or playing in the baby bit with us, whistfully looking at the 60,000ft high, 300 mile long, yellow red and green, wobbly slide with a look of pure lust in his eye, but still won't go on his own Bowling works though

Right I really had better start again hadn't I? Need someone to pull me up

Kayzr · 29/01/2010 14:28

We have bloody snow!!!!! It better bloody stop soon.

maxxymoosmummy · 29/01/2010 14:56

didnt go out as when DS woke up and had dinner, it was cloudy so just stayed in. hoping to get out tomoro as need a few bits from the shops. so have my fingers crossed it isnt raining. altho theres been snow for a little bit not so far away. hmmm hope this doesnt mean its back.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/01/2010 15:27

Afternoon... Dh is off work today, and over the weekend so trying to catch up while i can (he's gone to get DS from school)

I'm feeling a bit cheerier and less poorly today- even though i was up till gone 11pm watching skins (yes it was good nat) then DD2 had me up 3x finally waking me at 5.30 and i didn't get back off to sleep.... however it was for a good cause as she has cut her first tooth!!!! wuhoo!!! She's been teething for about 8 wks, and finally we have one!! the one next to it looks like it'll pop up any day too, and the two front top one also look just under the gums!!

Nat- hope the pains are easing for you.

Tink- chin up luv!! you've got boden shopping to get done!!

LG&T- we've plenty of shoes here that were DD1's that DD2 hasn't got into yet... what size will blue be in? i could post some for her if i had any that'd fit her till you got out?

Diege- eco-friendly travelling with 4DC? Thats why we went for freey crossing for disney- plenty of room for all our stuff- no way i'm doing planes/trains till they're all completely out of nappies and can eat/drink out of anything (ie glasses in a bar abroad etc) rather than juice cups etc...

We also have sun and blue skies, went to get the food shopping and there was the teeniest bit of snow on the way home... nothing since tho.

tinksbabyis1 · 29/01/2010 15:32

excatly cant;p

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/01/2010 15:33

oooh, oooh, oooh- i did come on to say somethign else aswell as tell you all about the peggy!!!

I start my BF councellor course in 2 weeks!! i'll have my qualification for it by the end of march!! Then i can go on to do another course after that which means i can then run BF sessions/groups etc!! I'm sooooo excited- been waiting for ages and it's finally happening!!

essenceofSES · 29/01/2010 16:38

Can't - that's great The more decent advisors out there the better

Tink - sorry you're still a bit up and down. I guess if you've been suffering with diarrhoea, it will make the ADs less effective. Hang on in there and as Cant says, shopping is a great help too!

Diege - playbarn sounds like it could be fun but could be hell. Hope you all had fun there today!

Gruff - poor GC! How's his bruise today? As for other people commenting on "how you are coping" behind your back....Grrr! How do they think that will help?! Sounds v tough but also that you are doing really well. It must help to have your happy (and v mobile!) GC to keep you busy

Gin - lovely picture of the DC playing sharks

Hello Kay, MMM, Star and anyone else I've missed! No snow here - bit of rain earlier.

O was fab this morning. I had nothing planned so decided to go into town and stock up on nappies, wipes, etc. I also got him some clothes at Boots (some reduced and staff discount v useful!) I got a few tops and 2 pairs of dungarees (one green and one denim). Then treated myself to lunch at Costa and sat O in their highchair and gave him some fruit which he munched on v happily whilst I ate my panini It was lovely!

Then took him for his SF jab. He was v brave and cried for less than a minute. Brought him home and he had a sleep for 45 mins. Good job as I had a quick bought of d&v Think whatever it was has passed through now. Hope it wasn't my panini...

Right, I'd best get O's tea. Pasta with tomato sauce and mushroom and sausage today I think!
