Moosy · 28/01/2010 10:07

Nat, it seems wrong to be glad about it somehow, but you must be so relieved to have the decision taken from you. I was thinking yesterday (but didn't find the time to post) that you had heavy bleeding with Mikey didn't you? I was wondering if perhaps the same would happen again but moreso IYSWIM. Enjoy your weekend away and I hope you get time to rest.

I'm not sure if I'll get the girls jabbed or not, but I haven't been offered it yet so haven't thought too much about it.

Diege, was it you that had physio for separated tummy muscles? I'm supposed to be getting it but haven't heard anything back yet, when did yours start?

tinksbabyis1 · 28/01/2010 10:13

cnat - poor u hope u get some sleep soon

NatalieJane · 28/01/2010 10:20

Hello, haven't actually moved yet, if I post again though someone tell me off, I really must get stuff sorted.

Tink and Gin, I don't know if I'm happy or sad, just relieved for now I think. And yes, deffo over, getting a bit ouchy again now the paracetamol are wearing off, got a couple of hours before I can take any more, might bring out the nurofen if it gets any worse! Not expecting the pain to get much worse though, it's earlier than my last miscarriage and that wasn't too bad pain wise.

Right, the packing...

NatalieJane · 28/01/2010 10:23

Sorry more x posts but I really must get on with this packing, will catch up properly later xxx

essenceofSES · 28/01/2010 10:49

Nat - I echo the thoughts of others. Seems wrong to be pleased for you but relief definitely seems like a fair emotion.
Hope, despite everything, you have a good weekend. Take care of yourself.

Cant - sorry you've been suffering. Hope you're back to full capacity quickly.

Star - thanks for your advice re going back to work. I actually might ask my cousin to move in for the week as well. She's currently living with her aunt and uncle until she finds a new place and we actually live nearer her place of work so hopefully she won't mind.

swine flu jab - DS is having his tomorrow. In the end I decided if he didn't have it and then got swine flu, I'd feel awful. (I think I may also feel awful tomorrow but hopefully only temporarily!)

Puppy - Nat, we did have 2 dogs but unfortunately one had to be put down about 3 weeks ago. She got suddenly ill over new year with pancreatitis and didn't respond to the treatment. It was all v sad. Our other dog (Lucy) started to get lonely and was whining a lot so we decided to get another.
I have to say she is doing my head in though! She's lovely and cute and absolutely the right thing for Lucy but she refuses to learn toilet training and is chewing everything in sight. DH is going to spend Saturday puppy proofing the garden (ie blocking off any small escape holes) and then they'll be able to run around in the garden to their hearts' content instead of causing chaos inside!

Currenlty watching Andy Murray on BBC2 but meant to be going out to Mum's and then on to NCT group before my (aforementioned!) cousin comes round this evening! Hoe to catch up later though.

tinksbabyis1 · 28/01/2010 12:23

so sorry nat at least you have a desicion
take care of yourselfx
steady packing

Diege · 28/01/2010 13:33

Hi! Oh NAT, what a rollarcoaster you've been on As others have said, a 'good' outcome in the circumstances, but you must feel very mixed up (though relieved) xx
SES that's a bugger about dh and his work on your forst week back - think I might be a bit too.
Well I am a bit peeved. Had a smear test this morning, but when I got the there was a different nurse in the office (the usual one ill - again). I could see her face drop when I said what I was there for, and she muttered 'Well, I'll have a go...' . Not exactly confidence inspiring, esp after my history of abnormnal cells, and I told her so. Anyway, to cut a long story short, she couldn;t find my cervix, despite priodding about for over 20 mins (not fun). She suggested I should be referred to the obesity clinic where the 'larger ladies go' because they have a greater range of speculums . I actually think it was more down to her lack of skill (she admits I was the first smear she's done for 15 years ). Soooo, I've registered us all with a different practice (it was the straw that broke the camels back). Not impressed at all!
Right, better leave now for dd2's school thingy - sorry for the me rant!

Starshinetiger · 28/01/2010 13:37

Diege - I would be tempted to write an official letter of complaint about hat nurser if I were you! Cannot believe how you were treated by her. Surely would have been better for her to rearrange your appt if she wasn't confident?!

largeginandtonic · 28/01/2010 14:25

Diege complain. How very dare she. Tbh i would have run at the first chance.

I had abnormal results and a colposcopy year before last. It makes you a bit phobic i think.

Poor you. Feet up with a i think. I just looked at your profile and oh my word that baby is cute

NatalieJane · 28/01/2010 14:32

Diege I'm with Star, she should have just rescheduled the apt. You have every right to be a bit peeved! Do I remember you mentioning you've had 'issues' with your cervix before? If she'd have read the notes she should never have even tried to do it, as it is you've got your head screwed on enough to put it down to her incompitance, but someone else could have been worried silly about it all. I'd deffo think about a very strongly worded letter, and fingers crossed, your new surgery will be a bit more professional.

Can't, glad you're feeling better, hope you manage to catch up on some sleep today/tonight

Ses, sorry about your dog , I must have missed it. That's really sad. I hope the pup settles down quickly, they learn a lot from the older dog, I'm sure it won't take long, it's that same old mantra 'this too shall pass'. I'm sure you'll know already but chicken wings (raw) and filled kongs are great chewing deterants.

That's two washing loads done (thought I might as well do the school uniforms and DH's work stuff so we're not running round like crazy when we get back), and most of the clothes we'll be taking with us sorted, just got stuff like toiletries and M's bottles etc, but obviously can't do all that till tomorrow. It feels like we're moving house already, you never appreciate just being able to chuck some clothes and bits in a bag and sodding off for the weekend until you've got kids! We're going for 5 days, and we're going to have to take a suitcase, a big full size one, and I've not even packed 5 days worth of clothes, already sussed we'd have to do washing while we're there, it's ridiculous! Then there's the buggy, the highchair, all the nappies/wipes/formula/bottles/toys/all of their xmas, bday and new babies pressies, how on earth we're going to fit it all in, I've no idea! Think we need a trailer the size of a house.

tinksbabyis1 · 28/01/2010 15:30

poor u diege don't blame u reregistering with someone else

you have done well nat!! there is so much stuff when u go away with kids when we went up to hull 4 xmas i thought we were never going to fit in and that is with less kids - they did have a highchair we could borrow and a travel cot so that saved some room we had all he xmas pressies!!

make sure you rest too how is bleeding?
u need to take it easy 2

essenceofSES · 28/01/2010 15:56

Hello! Came back from NCT group early as O was really tired and not settling there. He fell asleep in the car so I brought him int he house in his car seat where he stayed asleep for another 30mins before waking up. I then fed him and he fell asleep again so I transferred him into his cot and he's still there!

Nat - it's a bit like a military operation going away with DC isn't it?!
Thanks for puppy advice. Only thing is that I think the older one thinks she's allowed to behave like a puppy again herself now! The two of them are out in the garden at the moment. Phew!

Diege - Absolutely agree with the others. Complain so that no one else has to suffer this.

Tink - hello! You talk a lot of sense you know!

Did anyone see the GMTV "discussion" on extended BFing this morning? I am so !!! Link here
What gets me is that the views expressed by Claire Byam Cook were promoted as fact by the presenter, even though she has not practised as a Midwife for over 20 years. I don't actually intend to BF Owen until he's 4yo! Maybe until he's 12mo or he doesn't seem interested anymore but I think that mothers who choose to should be allowed to without having to defend themselves and this kind of media coverage is just blatantly inaccurate!
This kind of interview is deliberately provoking to encourage mothers that extended breastfeeding is somehow wrong (in light of the programme's sponsor being Nestle who make a baby formula) and shouldn't be done.

Shall I get off my high horse now?!

NatalieJane · 28/01/2010 16:02

Oh god I forgot about the travel cot and the two ready beds, thanks Tink, got to find the bedding for the travel cot as well.

I'm OK, should probably be rattling, been taking parrots/nurofen every two hours, still a bit sore though, but better while I'm busy. The bleeding is pretty heavy, it's suprising actually considering I was only 5 weeks, but I figure the quicker it comes out the quicker it'll be over (sorry if TMI?).

essenceofSES · 28/01/2010 16:07

Aww Nat, take it easy
< secret blatant hug>

NatalieJane · 28/01/2010 16:08

Sorry x post Ses.

I didn't see GMTV, but I know where you're coming from. The way I see it (broadly speaking) is if whatever someone wants to do, doesn't hurt anyone else, then what has it got to do with anyone else?

Enjoy the peace while they're out!

NatalieJane · 28/01/2010 16:10

I'm OK honestly, thank you

maxxymoosmummy · 28/01/2010 16:12

hi everyone, back from my cousins house, and DS fell asleep in the car back, so hes still in his car seat fast asleep atm. he had lots of fun playing tho :D and bumped his head so has a nice purple bruise, and a bump poor boy.
DIEGE - i agree on the complaining front.
NAT - it is hard work packing for DCs i only have one but feel like i take 'everything' with us to go away for a few days.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/01/2010 16:20

Nat- with you on the packing!! It is some sort of military operation- i hated packing when we went on holiday in oct- having to take enough clothes for the holiday, plus extra for when we were at MIL's the few days either side of the holiday!! The car was literally bursting at the seams!! and it took a good couple of slams with both mine and DH's weight to shut the boot!!

not managed any actual sleep but got a couple of hours rest and peace while the girls both had naps this afternoon. I think i'm in for an early night... but it's the new series of skins tonight- and i dont wanna miss it!! may have to sky+ it, but i've been waiting for tonight for so long!!!

Cosmogirl · 28/01/2010 16:39

Hi all not had chance to catch up but just had to say grrrrrrrrrrr!! Ses - just watched that GMTV clip.

I've not long completed the La Leche League Peer Supporter Programme and am now part of a local Breastfeeding Support Group. How can this 'bfeeding expert' sit on national tv and spout such nonsense.....?

Diege · 28/01/2010 18:00

Thanks girls for your support about my smear! Looking back it was a really crap experience all in - she even said to me at one point 'are you obese'? I looked at her oddly as I'm 9 stone and a size 8, and she said, 'well, we do have to ask' Maybe she had just wondered in off the street or something... So 6 forms to fill in tonight for the new medical practice - a small price to pay, plus they are just down the road!
Ooh NAT I feel your packing pain (as does CANT by her account!). Dh has this environmentally sound plan to go on hols this year without a car ; I mean, can you imagine all 6 of us on the train - we'd need to book a whole carriage just for the luggage . How are the tummy pains now NAT?
SES, will have a look at the GMTV clip - the media are notoriously crap at anything to do with bf.
LG&T thanks for the comments about J! I must say J looks very hard-faced in those piccies (only a mother's love eh )so will post some new ones I think!
Hi to everyone else - have to dash as tea nearly ready for dds. Back later hopefully!

largeginandtonic · 28/01/2010 18:57

Diege i loved the pics! I like the little frown You area size 8 and 9 stone

You lot are packing lightweights We went camping when dc6 was 9 weeks. All of us in toyota Previa AND the tent.

Nat hope you are not working too hard. It will catch up with you.

largeginandtonic · 28/01/2010 19:00

Cant you poor love! Hope you are managing to rest a bit. It is easy to get run down again.

largeginandtonic · 28/01/2010 19:02

Cosmo how cool that you are doing the BF courses. I would like to do it eventually.

I have not watched the GMTV rubbish but have seen them in action before. They are just incredibly insensitive and misinformed.

tinksbabyis1 · 28/01/2010 19:36

take care njxx

GruffaloSoldier · 28/01/2010 19:56

Hello all.

Have been trying to catch up since this morning, but had a busy day too. Have just finished reading the last couple of days posts

Nat - hope you're ok now. Terrible thing to have to go through xxx

Diege - please complain. I have just about had enough of these incompetent idiots we have who are supposed to know what they are doing. It really does not fill me with great faith in the health profession. A friend of mine is having an awful time at the mo and some of the things she tells me about what consultants etc have said to her. Makes me and

Cosmo - nice to see you back - great about le leche. one thing I like about le leche is when I was struggling with GC due to all his feeding issues I went on their website and their fundamental advice was FEED THE BABY. Where they were basically saying that if you have to give formula it doesn't matter as long as the baby is fed. This was so different to my BF counsellor who made me feel like absolute shite because she said there was no reason why anyone could not BF and basically formula was evil. This basically set me up for a fall and made the last 3 weeks (of 10) of BF Gruff Cub (which was a complete struggle) the most horrific, guilt ridden time I have ever felt. But as soon as he took that formula my life changed - for the better. My child was full, content and happy and I will never regret stopping, despite how I felt about it at the time. I wish there was more support like that. My BF counsellor ignored my emails at this dreadful time

Ohh sorry I went on a bit there

Hello to everyone else, sorry for useless catch up but has took me ages to read up to date and now I really must go and do some chores as DH isn't here tonight.
