essenceofSES · 27/01/2010 20:41

Hello!

Nat - not much more to add to what the others have said but want you to know that I've been thinking of you all day. Hope your chat with DH goes well tonight.
FWIW (and I know every situation is different) DH has 5 siblings and they grew up in a 3 bedroom house with 3 girls in one room and 3 boys in the other. They weren't huge bedrooms either. They managed...

Kay - my younger brother used to get conjuntivitis 3 or 4 times a year but me and my other brother never had it.

MMM - glad M was brave. O is having his swine flu jab on Friday.

Tink - I've had a miniBoden catalogue and I've never even bought anything off them!

O did his hour at nursery this afternoon. It was really more a question of going to fill in a load of paperwork rather than anything else. He was asleep in his buggy for the first 20mins and in the same room as me for all the time except 15 mins.
Two of my NCT friends did the same on Monday and they said they both sat in the car and cried afterwards.
(Spot the crazy first time mums!
It was a bit strange but I think I did all my crying before Christmas when I didn't get the days I wanted with work.
He seemed happy enough and I'm leaving him there for 2hrs next Monday morning.

Spoke to my mum earlier. We were given a 2night stay in a posh hotel in Bath by one of the companies DH works with and plan to take it around end of June (without O!). Mum suggested earlier that she could come with us and get a separate room for her and O. Nice thought but no thanks!! DH and I could really do with some time for just us.

Mum's also getting over excited about my younger brother's wedding. They got engaged last week and have provisionally set a date for 4th Sept. Mum (as usual!) is getting carried away, bless her!

Finally, O now has 6 teeth! I thought his 5th one was coming through and felt in his mouth this evening and could feel a sharp tooth through the gum on both sides of his top teeth! Can't see much so they can only just be through.

Right that's enough of a ramble from me!

essenceofSES · 27/01/2010 20:42

Knew I forgot something...

That gorgeous cute puppy of ours chewed the bottle of anti chew spray today

Diege · 27/01/2010 20:44

Oh Nat, bugger it! You know I had a feeling here that you may get a bfp this morning (pm neg probably die to more dilute urine, as you say). You know sometimes there is no perfect answer, you just have to go with the decision that causes you the least pain, if that makes sense. So if you could absolutely not go through with a termination, then this cancels out any other decisions or worries. Similalry, if you really could not bear another baby (in terms of the effects it would have that you mention) then you'd have to live with the worries you have about termination. I don't mean to sound flippant at all, but it does seem that there's no 'perfect' solution out there, and whatever decision you take there may be regrets (but that you must make the one that is the least regrettable). I'm not making much sense at all! I've also had a t in the past (long time ago, well before dh)and while I have had pangs of great regret, I know it was the right decision at the time for me. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and whatever you decide it will be the right decision at the time. You're only human, these things happen, and between you and dh you'll come up with the best thing for you. I think you need to forget about houses and cars, even dh's work, and go with your gut instinct on this one. A rare wagon hug winging its way to you!
Hi TINKS! I have my boden cat (arrived this morning )
Glad the jabs went ok MMM - please pass on love and best wishes to CANT and RUBY!
Hi LG&T, great advice from you as always

Diege · 27/01/2010 20:49

Hi SES, cross posts! So glad the nursery visit went well. I agree that you reach the point when you just want them to settle well, and the anxiety and tears seem part of another time. I didn't feel tearful at all (well, just a small lump in the throat) when leaving ds on his first day, partly because he did settle so well in his try out days. LOL at your puppy Oh and what is your mum like with the hotel trip

Starshinetiger · 27/01/2010 21:30

Oh Nat, these blimmin tests are not helping are they?! But, not wanting to give false hope, but didn't you have a similar scare a few months ago? Or was that someone else and then came on?

Don't have anything to add to the sound advice/thoughts you've had from everyone else, but am thinking of you.

Ses - glad nursery went smoothly. DD seems to be settling in to her nursery. I haven't even had to do the nursery run this week, as DH's shifts have switched round and he's on lates the days I'm not working. Each evening, he's picked them up earlier than I could and then I've got home to yells of delight of "Mummy" - or in DD's case "mmm mmm" and arms out for a cuddle - 'tis lush!

DD still only having short naps at nursery though, so hopefully that will improve over time. Her favourite game at the moment is to hold on to my thumbs, then I grip her whole hand and swing her up in the air. She loves it, but I feel like I'm going to pull her arms out of her sockets - if I stop, she just tries to grab my thumbs again and stand up, as if to say "again, again"!!

DS is being extremely lush at the moment too - am definitely regularly buying a lottery ticket, as would love to give up work, but no can do as we are reliant on my salary - at least I can do part-time, which helps. Hopefully later in year I can find a role which will be 3 days per week and that would be even better - am dreading March when I have to go up to 4! Sorry Ses, not trying to make you feel worse... at least on Sats, O will be at home with your DH. That's what I think - at least on Weds ams, DH has our two at home before his late shift.

MMM - glad jabs went well today.

Ses - totally agree with Diege - what is your Mum like with hotel?! And did laugh at your puppy too

So, am I officially the one who has to get up earliest for work?! Hopefully, once DD stops bfing, I could get up a bit later, as she wouldn't be reliant on me for that feed first thing and that would give me an extra 15-20 mins back - she likes a leisurely morning feed ... I say this like there's any chance of the boob monster ever taking a bottle or relinquishing the boob

Right, time to call my Mum for her IT support - she should be back from Bridge by now and apparently needs some help with Word... what an exciting life I lead!

Starshinetiger · 27/01/2010 21:36

Ha ha ha ha - kept hearing female screams and wondered what was going on... Thought they were coming from next door - we very rarely, if ever hear noise from there and they say they hear nothing from us (not even the baby crying) - realised the only time I hear noise from there is the football. Forgot the Cup Manchester derby 2nd leg was on... D'oh! (hmm, not really had much time to support my team since having children...)

essenceofSES · 27/01/2010 21:59

AAAaaaaarrrgggghh!!!
DH has come home (at 9pm ) and told me he has to go on a training course in Spain for a week. Just happens to be my first full week back at work. I know he can't help it but I'm angry and upset all at once

Star - what time do you get up? O is starting to get less bothered about BF but always has a feed first thing, last thing and in the middle of the night. Usually a quick one (because I offer) early afternoon. V cute picture in my head of you arriving home to your DS and DD.

Just told DH about my mum's idea for our hotel trip. His response was a snort and "bollocks". I think he put it quite well

Starshinetiger · 27/01/2010 22:10

Ha ha, Ses - your DH's response made me laugh! What a pain about his work - if it makes you feel any better, my first week back the children had had no settling in, 'cos nursery was closed the week before due to snow, DD got ill on her last day in that week and got sent home with temp. Luckily I had asked my Mum to come over for the week to help out, so she collected her. Any chance you can have your Mum on standby? Make sure you have lots of lovely M&S ready meals in so your dinner is nice and easy to prepare once you've got O off to bed each evening and plan to do nothing other than get yourself to work, O to nursery and both of you home again and you'll probably find it's acutally a nice relaxing week for both of you

Don't do what I did when I went back to work after DS - I had a practice run the week before and by 7.30am was a gibbering wreck, saying "I'll never get us both out of the house in the mornings"! Of course, we did manage it when we had to!

I have to be up about 6.10am to allow for a feed and getting everything sorted (although DH drops the children off) - I have to be in work for 8am to do my hours and have a 50min commute. Hopefully will need less time in the morning (and evening for prep) from next week as their menu should be sorted for nursery, so we won't need to provide food.

Your DS and my DD sound very similar Ses, even though O is 2 months younger than DD - she is still a tiddler! She has her evening feed, middle of night feed and morning feed and then occasionally mid-afternoon snack if I'm around.

Right, bed it is... should have been 10 mins ago!

largeginandtonic · 28/01/2010 07:21

Ses lol at the dog and hotel break! What kind of pup is it?

Starshine you are doing well with the nursery runs. It must be horrid to leave them. Playschool is very traumatic i find

Diege! how are things with you? You are on my fb i think. Remind me of your initials.

Maxy how was he last night after the jab?

Beau was sick AGAIN last night. He does not seem ill though. I think it might have been his rubbish gag reflex. He coughs and can be sick sometimes. In fact i have seen him throw a tantrum and be sick (his dad used to do it as a child) GAH!

Bluebell seems much better, tollerating toast and rice cakes. She even had rice and chicken last night and no POO! Huzzah!

I have the twins home today (teacher training) They are 12 this year. Horrific. I am not OLD enough to have 12 year olds

NatalieJane · 28/01/2010 07:49

Morning,

Will catch up with the chat in a bit, I am rushed for time at the moment, but wanted you all to know that I am bleeding, don't know really if I'm , , or just , but I am so relieved.

DH and I had a long talk last night deciding that we would probably keep it despite all the problems that would bring, I did get a proper BFP last night, and as soon as I saw it I knew I just couldn't terminate, but it was far from the joy we'd felt at finding out the other times.

It sounds really bad of me but I'm not really sad that it's ended, it's going to be tricky over the weekend with being at mum's but I think we need the break after this week. I've taken paracetamol and the pain isn't as bad as it was in the night.

So it's all over . Have decided I am going to go on the pill just for a month, see how I feel on it. I didn't realise until I stopped taking it how bloody moody it made me, so will be looking out for moodiness if I'm OK then I'll carry on taking it, if not then it shouldn't take long to get out of system after just a month.

Can I just say a really big thank you to you all (especially Gin and Diege, I am sorry if I dragged up old memories, but really appreciate your input) obviously it wasn't something I could talk about in RL incase we did t, so being able to warble on on here really did help.

Right I really must shoot off, DS1 isn't even awake yet, I'll be back at 9 to catch up properly

Kayzr · 28/01/2010 07:55

Morning,

Nat, I am relieved for you too. There are different pills available. The first one I took made me really moody and I told the DR and he changed my pill and I was fine on the new pill.

I have now come down with the boys cough. I have to go blooming shopping today so I am hoping that plenty of medicine will keep me from looking half dead in Morrisons.

maxxymoosmummy · 28/01/2010 09:08

morning everyone. off to one of my cousins houses today for DS to play with there Little boy. hes 2 but they play really well together. so its good.
GIN - max was fine last night after his jabs, thankyou. you would have never known with it not bothering him / affecting his sleep. hes only just woke up 5 mins ago.

Kayzr · 28/01/2010 09:10

Is anyone getting the Swine Flu jabs for their DCs?

We've been sent a letter about it but when DH asked the GP on Tuesday he said he wouldn't let his children have it.

Not really sure about it.

NatalieJane · 28/01/2010 09:18

MMM, glad Ruby is better and that Glask is on the mend

Kay sorry about DS1's gunky eyes, bless him, DS2 always gets it with a cold, none of the others do, DS1 had it once, DS3 never (Actually have a partial memory of him maybe having it once, when he was a few weeks old, but might be mixing up memories with DS2?) Sorry about your cough as well, seems to be loads of cough and colds going around at the moment. Hope you're all better ASAP.

Ses, glad the nursery visit went OK. LOL at the pup, when did you get him/her? Haven't you got 2 dogs already? You must be brave!! Star's plan for the first week back sound's like a good one

Star, I am up with DH at 5am most of the time, sometimes we have a lie in till 6, and then both regret it because we rush round like blue arse flies trying to get showered etc.!

Gin, hope you find the light at the end of the tunnel before too long re. the poorlies. It's exhausting when these go down with a bug one after the other, can't imagine how it feels with 7 of them!

Right, I have to go and sort out what to pack, do any last minute washing, and ring the doctors. Am thinking they'll want to do a smear (not had one since I was 17 ) before he'll give me the pill so if I book an appointment for in a fortnight, I'm hoping the bleeding will have stopped by then, and I'll have the pills ready to start with my next period, think I am remembering rightly that you have to start them with your period, is that right? Can't remember, it was nearly 8 years ago the last time I started them!

What a bloody week hey? Will be so pleased to see the back of it!

maxxymoosmummy · 28/01/2010 09:23

well DS has now starting the 'stripping' phase. just been to get him out of his cot, and his pj pants was off and one arm out of his top. haha.

NatalieJane · 28/01/2010 09:23

Sorry x posts, MMM glad M was fine last night

Kayz, sorry, I haven't taken any notice of the jab's TBH I don't mean to sound flippant about it but normal seasonal flu will have already caused more fatalities and serious illness this winter than bloody swine flu, and there is no hype about that, plus we've all already had it/been exposed to it. I have noticed there is a thread on here (think it's in IABU) maybe there is some info on there?

NatalieJane · 28/01/2010 09:26

...Sorry the AIBU thread is about the jab, obviously there are a few AIBU threads! Will try to find a few brain cells in the washing pile.

maxxymoosmummy · 28/01/2010 09:28

KAYZ - i havent had a letter about the swine flu jabs, but ill be in 2 minds wether or not to get it. also DS has already been treated for it so may stop him from recieving the jab altho not certain.

tinksbabyis1 · 28/01/2010 09:31

oh nat - sorry for bleeding i bet u dont know whether to feel happy or sad. is it heavy is it definetly over?
glad chat with dh went ok!!
good luck packing

hi kay - sorry for cough

hi everyone else lots to read

having a quiet day

largeginandtonic · 28/01/2010 09:36

NJ Glad you are pleased about it all. Is the bleeding heavy? Are you sure this is it?

I have been on various pills in my life. I have hideous crippling periods so they have (sort of( been controlled by the pill since i was 13.

The combined pill is better imho. You get a 12 hour window to take it and it controls your cycle better. I am currently on Cerazette (mini pill) that youhave a small window (3 hours) to take. It is progesterone only. I have been on it for 3 months and pretty mch bled the entire time. I have just been back to the docand he has told me to take 2 to see if that will override my cycle. I am dubtful and have sen no change in the bleeding. It has till the weekend and i am stopping. I will be crippled with pain and heavy bleeding but at least it wontbe all the fricking time!

Re Jabs. None of mine will be having the swine flu one. Too many GP's not letting their own children have it for my liking. I am dubious.

Maxxy glad that he was ok and HOW THE HECK do you get your baby to sleep so well? Not one of mine has slept in! Clearly you are magic.

What are you all doing today. Shopping Tink?!

tinksbabyis1 · 28/01/2010 09:43

large - we are thinking the same about nat

well i bought 2 newspapers, small tub of minieggs and a hicken sandwich for lunch in tesco
buying dd1 books from amazon tomorrow and boden bits next tues
i am not taking girls for swine flu jab either!!

maxxymoosmummy · 28/01/2010 09:52

really i havent done anything, hes kind of done it all on his own, from about 6 week he went from 8 - 5 but went back to sleep after some milk. till about 8 ish. hes been really good from day 1, the first night only waking every 4 hours for feeds.
then the older he got the later it was. now i hardly see 8 am haha. more often it 9.30 - 10

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/01/2010 10:04

Morning- my eye's are half shut but i'm gonna try and re-cap my catch-up...

Nat!! Happy for you that things seem to have come to and end, I'd have felt the same way 6mths ago!! Actually i did when we had that scare last summer... and glad to see you back on the wagon with us!!

LG&T- hello!!! long time no 'see', glad to hear all is well in your home- i half wish Dh would come round to the idea of lots more babies- i'm starting to get really desperate for a Dc4... How can that be? afterthe hellish time i went thru with DD2, her being prem, getting ill, and now still only being a tiddler despite being 1 in 23 days!! Argh- i'm confusing myself!!

Kayz- i'm not getting the jab, have been offered it for DD1 & 2, DS and Dh both had swine flu and were fine, i'd rather run the risk of them catching it than the jab TBH.

Ses- puppy and anti-chew sounds very funny!!

Diege- Hello... no progress on DC5 then ??? haha!!

Tink- Hi

Hello anyone else.

Thanks for the 'get well' wishes. I started feeling much better by yesterday evening, but then after a bad night from DS (woke at 3am and wouldn't go back to sleep for ages) and not getting back to sleep i lost another half-night of sleep lastnight again... so i'm running on about 4hrs sleep a night and coping with an ill baby, ill myself and school runs!! Argh- i feel like shit still!!

Kayzr · 28/01/2010 10:06

Sorry you have the poorlies too Cant, Hope you are all better very soon.
