Kayzr · 26/01/2010 18:56

DS2 is 13 months now. He is so big and doesn't look like a baby anymore

I am so so broody but we are waiting until August until we start trying for number 3. Will be fighting
for another homebirth. The HV has said she doesn't think it's appropriate for me to have a homebirth because DS2 was so big.

largeginandtonic · 26/01/2010 19:01

Oh tell her to go jump.

You did a fanatstic job last time. Hugo (ds4) was a 9lb whopper with shoulder dystocia. I rang all the alarm bells but B was 9lb 2oz and his shoulders came out no prob even though he was bigger.

Bluebell was 9lb 5oz and she also came out, bit of a tug the midwife said but at home in a couple of hours.

Stand firm. Read up on the positions for big babies. It will be fine. I'll do it

Moosy you can cancel the jab if you think he is too under the weather to cope with the jab

Kayzr · 26/01/2010 19:05

They think he was just a one off. So I am dieting to make sure I am not overweight when I am pg with the next one. So hopefully I'll have a smaller baby.

largeginandtonic · 26/01/2010 19:11

Hahahahahaha Kay

Sorry but i was smaller than ever when i had the last 2 dc and they were bigger.

It is all about what fits in your pelvis. True cephalopelvic disproportion is a rare thing. A change in position is usually sufficient, getting the baby in a good position before birth is also important.

Worry not

Kayzr · 26/01/2010 19:24

I was told that it was probably my weight that caused his weight to be so big. So maybe it wasn't really.

largeginandtonic · 26/01/2010 19:34

I have never heard such a load of rubbish. The risk with being overweight when prg comes form high bp, difficulty feeling the baby's position and complications that can occur during a section/childbirth.

These things apply to obese women. I have seen you and you are NOT obese.

Large women do not necessarily have large babies. Load of tosh.

How awful for you to have been told that

Moosy · 26/01/2010 19:39

I've had a baby! She's 7 weeks old and is lovely, lots of pics on FB there will be no more Moosy babies though, DH is being snipped soon hopefully.

NatalieJane · 26/01/2010 19:40

Kayz I think the relation of big mum = big baby is a get out clause. It is true that overweight women are more likely to develop GD, if it goes undetected that is the MW's/GP's/Cons etc. fault, they'd never hold their hands up and admit it but they really should offer women more than the one GD test.

Worry not indeed, t'was BFN, was very relieved for all of two minutes, but now in that phase of 'but still no period, shall I just do another little test....' repeat 60,000 times.

If I am not pregnant I will be obviously very very very relieved, no bloody awful decision to make, but I will also never trust my body ever again. Even with the MC I've known when the test is going to be +. And right now, I feel about as pregnant as a pregnant person despite the BFN.

Kayzr · 26/01/2010 19:44

I am actually obese. I am 5 stone over my safe weight. My BMI is in the obese section so my GP has said I need to lose weight for my own safety. So I am being very very strict with myself.

I hope it stays a BFN, Nat.

Moosy · 26/01/2010 19:45

Kayz, I agree about the weight thing, my mum was 7st 2lb before she had my brother and he weighed 9lbs!

Phew for your bfn Nat, what a relief! Hope af turns up soon to put your mind at ease

largeginandtonic · 26/01/2010 19:48

Oh Nat! How do you feel? I agree re the decision making though. Have been there done that

Kay the GD too. You didn't have GD with D did you?

Kids almost all in bed. There will be pizza and beer tonight. I neeed it. DD2 been ill a week now. Am knackered and grumpy.

Kayzr · 26/01/2010 19:52

I had one blood test that came back a bit higher than normal so I had a fasting blood test to check for GD. But it came back normal.

So the MW has said that I could have been just under the cut off for GD.

I am going to see if I can refuse to see the consultant as he was dead against me having the HB in the first place.

largeginandtonic · 26/01/2010 19:55

Kayz i admire you. I am not so disciplined. I am sure that losing the weight will make no difference to the baby's weight but will make a massive difference to how you feel. Pregnancy takes it's toll on the body and being optimal before you start is very sensible

NatalieJane · 26/01/2010 20:13

Yes it is deffo worth losing as much as you can, but for your health more so any baby. I've lost about 2st since we moved, and feel so much better for it, got another one or two to go yet though but the loss has slowed way down to 1-2lb a week, so going to take a while.

Just one more reason why a pregnancy now wouldn't be a good idea.

Gin I feel a bit lost TBH. There are so many reason's why we/I just can't have another baby, the house, the car, money, all the usual suspects, but I can't lie there will always be a tiny weeny part of me that would love another baby, but I think even if I reached your brood number that would be the same. I've said it before, I love the baby stage, and could do it over and over, it's the yukky kid bit that put's me off And of course the pregnancy itself, each one has got pregressivly worse, all the faffing with who would have the kids etc. I don't seem to be capable of a natural start to labour (3 inductions under my belt!)

TBH, it is also that I am/was planning to do a diploma over the next couple of years starting when we move, in readiness for them all sodding off to school. I was really looking forward to getting out of the SAHM rut I'm stuck in, I've been in it for nearly 8 years, I've had enough!

What a load of waffle - sorry!

Starshinetiger · 26/01/2010 20:33

Well done Star, I started looking for the list and couldn't find it on this thread, then something happened (that would be DS3 was on the loose) and I forgot to go find the old thread!

Rugbylovingmum · 26/01/2010 20:43

I'm very impressed with all this weight loss. I really want to lose 3 stone - I am sick of only fitting into my 'fat clothes' or my maternity jeans . I was trying to eat a bit more sensibly and do some exercise after xmas but DDs bad sleeping drove me back to the sofa with the caramel slices and lots of sugary tea . Now she's doing better I must get back to it! We got a little bonus through this month so I have put some clothes shopping money away as an incentive .

Nat - glad you got the result you wanted (I think) and fingers crossed AF turns up soon to reassure you.

Kay - stick to your guns if you want another HB. The docs are so keen to get you in hospital - after I had the CS the consultant came to 'check on me' but rather than ask how I was she just told me how they would organise the next CS .

Gin - enjoy the beer and pizza.

maxxymoosmummy · 26/01/2010 20:58

sorry for the 2 birth posts, i put mine in the wrong place so just edited it.

Starshinetiger · 26/01/2010 21:37

Sorry MMM - don't think you were ever on the list (apologies for not noticing though ).

Rugby - Ooh, when DD was 4 months old there was no chance of me thinking of weight loss or exercise, give it some time lady, once she's moving there will be no more lolling sitting on the sofa, so make the most of it And if you go for more DC, you don't get the chance for lolling sitting around again, as you're running around after the older one. Moral of the tale - make the most of now!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 26/01/2010 21:43

Hi all, sorry been awol for so long, the leap to two kids has been taking its toll. Don't know how long it is since I last posted, I was dx with PND and my drugs have been increased so things are settling down again...

DS1 is being challenging to say the least. Toilet training is 100% on hold with total regression . He's now 3.2, is clearly totally capable, I'm fed up of listening to advice from loads of different people - so I called the HV who said that it sounded like we were in a power struggle and to stop everything, no reminders, go back to pull ups, and just back off. So that's where we are now. I have no idea how we move forward from here and the HV is surprised that he hasn't asked for his pants back yet - instead he's happy with pull-ups and resists changing them (regardless of fullness or what the contents are). Its such a nightmare.

I'm fed up with 'hiding' so am outing myself again - and think after this will revert back to my old name. If anyone who knows me is interested enough in my mundane life to stalk me, so blinking what. I never slag anyone off, its just about how much of my personal life goes on display I guess...

Hi LG&T if you're still about, long time no see - have missed you, NJ good to see you're back about too. Wish Sorky would come back too.

Diege · 26/01/2010 22:02

Hello! Oh my goodness what a day on the wagon . NAT, I quickly skimmed through the posts before leaving work, and have been thinking you were pregnant all the way home, so now am a little disappointed! (I know you are not though..well, maybe a tiny bit...so a happy ending I suppose!)

SES, good luck for tomorrow. As regards the nap dilemma, I've put J in his sleeping bag for all naps, including nighttime sleep, from about 8 weeks. They also have a high summer weight one at nursery that they just put over his top and vest (it's so warm in there). I'm sure that all the signs are there for O that nighttime is the 'big' sleep, though maybe you could try without the bag if you think it may help?? You may find that O's 'routine' changes with nursery anyway, so might be worth adopting a 'wait and see' policy?
Hi LG&T! Great to hear from you again, and sorry for the poorlies - that must be a nightmare, and you fully deserve some r&r tonight! Do I detect a hint of no.8 there sometime in the future?
GRUFF so sorry that I haven't asked after your mum in a while. Things are only coming back to me slowly after my enforced break over xmas! I really hope you get some good news, and that the wait is bearable xx
STAR, I am with you on the nursery rush - I always panic that I won;t get there in time because of the trains, but been ok so far. Don't envy your early start. My alarm goes at 6.30am, so not far off, and I will say that knowing you are up then will help!
TINKS, will have a think about the sheet thing for you.
KAYZ, weight thing didn't follow here either, as ds quite a whopper and I was no different weight wise than with dds. LG&T is right when she says true pelvic whatjamacall it is very rare, and if anything a hb would help with optimal fetal positioning. They said my c-section was due to a genuine pelvic thing (from the moulding on his head, and also that funny thing on my cervix that they saw - arghh I'm braindead today! - bandeel's ring or something) but we'll never know for sure, and it's an easy get out clause for them.
Right, I know there's loads I've missed but I must go up to bed as I feel rotton and have an early one tomorrow.
Speak tomorrow! (oh and NAT you never know, your body could be right and that test wrong! - not to worry you, but it would be exciting ).

essenceofSES · 26/01/2010 22:33

Nat - phew! Hope it remains a BFN for you

STT - sorry for PND and pants toilet training (bad joke I know!)

We need to put a call out for BB (recently posted), Sorky (last seen on FB), LB (last seen on FB), LBOT, Kooky, Playing and Teuch!

Diege - hi! Thanks, will do the wait and see approach. Everything is a phase anyway

largeginandtonic · 27/01/2010 05:29

Thank you for the roll call! Was very useful. There have been LOADS of babies.

Congratulations

STT you do sound like you have had it rough Are the meds picking you up now? I know they can take a few weeks to work.

For those of you doing nursery dashes after work you have my full sympathies. I often have nightmares about the dc being left at school all alone It is a fear of mine, ridiculous i know.

Nat well done on the weight loss! I lost a stone before dh came back from sea last November. He had been gone 6 mths and i desperately wanted to have lost it all by the time he came back. Pretty sure xmas has seen a lot of it go back on

Still the beer and pizza was nice

The girl is still pooing. Big B is pooing now too. Didn't want to go out anyway I mean who needs the outside world and adult company...
