Yes thanks MMM. His teething seems to have calmed down finally so I'm hoping he'll start sleeping better again too. Last night wasn't too bad as he did stay in his cot until 8am but I had to get up and feed him at midnight and 4am

Hello Gruff! When do you hear about your PhD?

maxxymoosmummy · 10/01/2010 01:47

thats good then SES
i currently have a screaming DS which is quite unusual for this time in the morning. dont know whats wrong with him but hes had teething gel , calpol , nappy change , dummy , blanket , everything i can think of other than milk and he still isnt settling. hope he settles soon. if he carries on i wont be sleeping for the rest of the night

Kayzr · 10/01/2010 06:51

Morning.

MMM, I hope you got DS to sleep in the end.

I got woken up by a bloody avalanche!! The snow fell off our roof and made a terrfying noise.

Got to go to work this morning. Not looking forward to the trek through the snow.

maxxymoosmummy · 10/01/2010 09:18

managed to get sleep at about 2.15 to wake again at 6.30. it feels like hes cutting his 3rd tooth. so that may explain the pain. hes fast asleep now again tho.

tink2010 · 10/01/2010 09:31

morning = great to have u back bb congrats for alfie sounds like u did realy well

all this snow is annoying it is snowing here now again!!

gingerbreadlatte · 10/01/2010 15:12

MOrning

Congratulations BB! Love the name

Avalanche sounds scary Kay!

Gruff- I know. had weird dream last night that I was with you and the GC (and the SG of course) at a church singing nursery rhymes! I am finding inventive ways of doing mother/baby stuff!

Ses- Re the wipes, I literally just bought 0.4m of fleece fabric from our local fabric shop for about £3 and cut it into pieces that fit inside the pampers wipes plastic box that I got in my bounty pack. Soo cheap and so easy. Better than cotton wool as you get more surface area and it doesnt matter how many you use! Think I've got about 30 which is more than enough.

Initially I made a solution of camomile tea, lavender essential oil and baby oil but I stoppped after the last wave of nappy rash and now just use warm water as I would with cotton wool. I then just chuck them in with the nappy wash at 60degrees. They dry really quickly.

Sorry for short catch up with everyone. Hopefully back laters

Kayzr · 10/01/2010 15:15

I have about 2 metres of bright pink fleece. Maybe I could use that to make some wipes. We get through loads and loads of wipes.

Though I was thinking of making it into a cosytoes for the pushchair if DC3 does end up being a girl.

GruffaloSoldier · 10/01/2010 20:40

evening all

SES - RE the PhD I am currently waiting to hear if I get an interview, the interviews are held at the end of feb so hopefully in the next few weeks should hear. Then after a day of interview selection day stuff, if you are offered a place you are notified by begining of April. This fits in nicely as if I dont get it I can then celebrate GC's first birthday and decide what I am going to do re working and GC and ttc etc I have a couple of mums from my NCT who asked if I would nanny for them so its nice to have that to fall back on. I would just look and see what jobs there are about in my field.

MMM and BB you are now on the FB wagon too I accepted you last night.

Ginger - LOL at doing mother baby stuff in your dreams! If ever your DH is busy at weekends and you're at a loose end would be lovely to catch up. Even if just for a quick cuppa. Oh its hard, I know because you will want to have quality family time at the weekends. Well just let me know if you ever can!

Kayz - pink fleecy cosy toes sounds nice I too am hoping for a girl next time as then there is no pressure to have another I always wanted loads of children but have been put off by the whole c section experience and not to mention GC is bloody hard work!!!But I am feeling broody too. Not all the time, just every so often its sneaks up on me and before I know it, its got me and Im wistfully thinking of baby names... ahem anyway

Tink - I cant believe the snow! (I am a fellow hampshirean (sp?)It was at it again today and DH only just dug the car out this afternoon!

Hello to everyone else.

GC is becoming a right little screecher. He screams at everything - it is mainly frustration and really tries to communicate with us. I am hoping he grows out of it when he learns to talk. Anyone with older ones have this? Im finding him really hard work at the moment

SES I can def sympathise over O and trying to change nappies. GC has been like this for opast couple of months - its awful. He just wants to stand all the time so lying down is a complete no no. He is also like it with dressing, being put into car seat/pushchair - anything where he is restricted basically. Its so tough!

Right I am just finishing off thank you cards that me and DH made so I better get back to it! Hopefully will get on tomorrow!

Kayzr · 10/01/2010 20:45

Gruff do you know how pleased I am to not be the only one that is thinking of baby names.

Now watching Most Haunted Live and we just heard a scary voice!!! Eeeeek very scared!!

essenceofSES · 10/01/2010 21:01

Gruff - sounds like you've got your options well and truly open V good position to be in. Your description of GC wriggling and screaming when being changed/dressed/put in car seat sounds just like O. It can be v wearing can't it?!

Kay - you're definitely not the only one thinking of names but that's as far as I get! I can't actually come up with any I like!
Seriously, though I'm trying to be secretly broody but just can't imagine coping with two. Also need O to start sleeping better so that DH and I can have some regular sex
DH and I did agree ttc from May at one point but he's gone all non-committal on me atm and I'm not going to push it. I know we'll ttc at some point and it can't be that long as I'll be 37 next month.

Ginger - that's a great idea with the wipes. There's a good haberdashery shop in Redhill so when the snow clears, I'll take a look!

tink - I'm getting sooo fed up with the snow too! Still got about 6" here.

MMM - sounds like you're having a rough day from FB. Feel free to unload here if it'll help.

I'm really tired tonight and could go to bed early but I feel it's the only "me" time I get so don't want to waste it IYKWIM

Kayzr · 10/01/2010 21:15

I have a huge list of girls names in my diary. They are all over the top, poncey type names but I love them!!

essenceofSES · 10/01/2010 21:20

Kay - at list

maxxymoosmummy · 10/01/2010 21:27

SES - ye it hs been a bit of one of those days. just everything getting on top of me. tired, stressed, upset, got a masive headache, just everything really. think its made it worse the lack of sleep i got last night due to DS being a pain and not settling. i jus feel so urghhh atm. and everything is becoming 10 times worse than it is.

essenceofSES · 10/01/2010 21:30

Aww MMM
Tiredness always makes things so much worse. I really hope you get a better night tonight.
I think I'm going to head off myself now. I've started reading again before settling down to sleep which I really enjoy. I'm re-reading the last Harry Potter book at the moment.

G'night all - hope it's a peaceful one!!

maxxymoosmummy · 10/01/2010 21:49

i know ye always seems to its awful. i started reading aswel :D not read since i was pregnant. so got back into it a couple of weeks back. but dont think i fancy reading tonight with this headache
hoping DS settles down, as he keeps waking every 15 mins screaming. really cant figure ot what is wrong with him
night SES hope its a good night

Kayzr · 11/01/2010 07:26

Morning!!

MMM, I hope you had a better night last night.

I forgot to tell you all yesterday that we are going on holiday!!! We are going to Butlins in Skegness in April. I am quite excited.

Also I started weight watchers again last Monday and I have lost 4lb!!

I hope everyone is well.

maxxymoosmummy · 11/01/2010 10:32

KAYZ - well done on the weight loss wish i had the motivation to loose weight haha. ye had a better night thankd only just woke up. needed that sleep. great about the holiday too

maxxymoosmummy · 11/01/2010 12:41

well thats wasa wasted trip to the shop. went for gas and electric and the machine or cards arent workin :@ now need to try find the number for npower to get someone out to us :@

Rugbylovingmum · 11/01/2010 13:43

BB - good to 'see' you again and huge congratulations!

MMM - glad you had a better night. Hope you get your gas etc sorted out quickly - you def don't want to be without heating just now .

Kayz - well done on the weight loss. I've just joined Tesco online diets so we can have a mini club n the wagon. I haven't lost any weight since I gave birth (too many caramel slices when feeding ) and I can still only fit into a few of my looser pre-pregnancy clothes. I really want to lose weight before I go back to work in June so I think I need to make a start now. I need to start using the wii fit and my davina dvd and if the snow ever melts DP and I are going to try jogging with the pram.

Gruff - fingers crossed you get the interview but it sounds like you have a few good options if it doesn't work out.

Ginger - good idea for the wipes - we get through loads of the things.

Ses - I'm rereading Harry Potter too. My MIL bought me the new film for xmas and I realised I couldn't remember what happened in the last one so I've dug the books out again.

We had a lovely get together with the NCT group yesterday. It is the first one since xmas so we had some champers to toast our first xmas/new year with the babies and some fantastic spanish food and hot choc (the dad who's house we were at is spanish), mmmmmm . All the babies have changed so much in the few weeks since we last met up and as DD is the youngest I love watching them to get an idea what she will be doing in 4-6 weeks time IYSWIM. We are having a really lazy day today as DD has been very sleepy for some reason but hopefully she will wake up enough for swimming later.

tink2010 · 11/01/2010 14:28

essenceofSES · 11/01/2010 14:41

Hi! O is asleep in his cot and he woke up after half an hour, whinged for 15 mins and went back to sleep
We had an awful night with me in tears at midnight wondering what it was I was doing wrong.

Had 3 of my NCT friends and babies round this morning which was nice.

Kay - well done on weight loss and holiday sounds lovely.

Not sure if I mentioned but we're off to Center Parcs in a few weeks for a long weekend with all our NCT group. We've got 3 lodges booked between the 6 families. Think it will be "hectotic" to use that old wagon word

Rugby - your NCT meet up sounds like it was great!

tink - does your mum want to pop over here to do some sorting and cleaning??!

MMM - glad you had a much better night. Hope it continues!

BB - where have you gone

cantmummyhaveabreak · 11/01/2010 15:55

hello- sorry i've not been on much recently- kids have been snowed off school... more so because i can't push the pram and help 2 kids on the ice thats now left behind. It's been busy to say the least!! I'd been looking forward to them being back at school to get a tidy house again but we've had 3 weeks of xmas mayhem and mess!!

I have been trying to keep up to date but never get time to catch-up properly.

DD2 is now fully sitting unaided, she is still cutting first teeth too.

I have also decided that i DO want a DC4... but maybe not for 10 years or so... DH thinks i'm mad and doesn't see himself changing his mind- but i REALLY dont want him to get the snip now!! ARGH!!! What do i do? he says the only way he'd change his mind is if we had much more money/income than we do now and a bigger house so he felt very secure about our future. He aspires to a job which pays about 3-4x his current salary, and i think he can get that job within the next 10 years. That said we'd then be able to afford a much bigger house, DS would be 15, DD1 13... they'd be almost adults... and i'd only be 34!! I know i'll want another baby!! Such a disaster because having DD2 caused us lots of stress and worry when she was prem, plus the whole EMCS too... we're lucky to have come out fine as a couple and a family. If we had to go through that again it'd be very hard indeed. But i know how broody i am now... i mean if someone could guarrentee me another girl (as the girls room will be the big room when we've done DS's room) then i'd bite their hand off and do it now...

maxxymoosmummy · 11/01/2010 15:58

RUGBY - i know ye its freezing, ive managed to sort something out so were all ok now DS is a little ill today been sick and just isnt himself at all. but his dad is ill so maybe it got passed on yesterday when he was with him. just hope i dont get it and that there ok soon. hope swimming goes well DS loves it

Kayzr · 12/01/2010 05:49

Morning.

It's too early to be up for work. I think I might struggle to stay awake at work. I also can't eat any breakfast as it is just too early.

I am feeling a bit rubbish at the minute. Work is just crap and I am struggling with leave the boys. I missed DS1's first words and first steps because I was at work. Now DS2 is getting to the same age I don't want to miss everything with him too.

tink2010 · 12/01/2010 09:25
