Hi don't worry about the name spelling jaysforth

Feeling very strange as DS wasn't planned and I was shocked to say the least with him and not knowing how I should feel now one was planned. I am hoping for another boy, I always imagine DS with a little brother, playing with their trains

designerjooles & mudandroses I live in a village just outside Brighton although hoping to move back into town before number 4 is born! Want to be able to walk to shops again.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend....

Jaysfourth · 30/01/2010 21:26

was that done on purpose StrictlyKatty....??
Will you find out the sex @ 20 weeks scan?

boring day, yardddddy yar! Are we having babies yet!?

Looks like we are going for the Discovery3. went for a look around today, really like them, although, as with others, not much boot room with back seats up, but we do have roof box, so long trips etc will be ok

MammyG, your youngest three will be close together then..at least you might get some help from the (moody??) teenager?!

My brood are 4,3 and 2, no chance of much 'help' from them, lol!

Stickhasgrownup.... buggerooney about the internal scan, but, all done now and all ok, good to hear

Had a weird nausea time, running the kids bath tonight, poured in the bubble bath....some fruity stuff, and bammmm....hit me like a ton of bricks, had to leave the bathroom and get DH to re run bath....euwww

right off for hot choccie (maybe a cpl of biccies too )

MammyG · 30/01/2010 21:50

Got awful news today that Dad only has 6 months left at most. Family were chatting and TBH he is fading so fast realistically we feel it could be shorter. Today it just really hit me. Usually I am one of those "great in a crisis then bawl crying over something small a week later" kind of people but today between pregnancy exhaustion and everything I am a mess. He will not meet this baby! And over the next few weeks people in our town will be finding out and asking me about him and I cant tell anyone yet that Im pregnant. Just dont know how I am going to manage all of this. HAve my boys, full time v.demanding job, undiagnosed stomach problem that wont go away and now Dad just getting more ill and my mom isnt at full health either. How do I support her thru this? What do I do?

Jaysfourth · 30/01/2010 22:04

Awwwwww MammyG, SO very sorry to hear of your news. You do have such a lot going on at the moment dont you. Was this something you had been expecting, or has it come out of the blue to you. Not that that makes any difference to the situation

First things first, you need to take care of yourself. If you can do/manage this then you will be able to cope with the rest of the issues. Are you in a position to speak to work about taking a bit of compassionate leave? would you consider telling them about your pregnancy ( dont know if you have or not) so that you are able to focus on your family and give you a little time to adjust?
Do you have any other family members that can help share the burden, and i don't mean that in a flippant way...
Are you in a relationship and can you talk to your partner about him doing some things to help out. I dont know what your arrangements are at the moment, i am just trying to throw things in the ring so to speak...

thinking of you x

bellabelly · 31/01/2010 13:18

Oh mammyg, so sorry to hear your sad news. Don't know what to say really, just hope that you can find some inner strength from somewhere. Your dad might not be around to meet this baby BUT he will be able to feel a connection - through seeing scan pics, possibly feeling him/her kicking etc. So sorry, it must be really tough.

rainbowdays · 31/01/2010 15:51

MammyG - sorry to hear your sad news, you have had some good advice here already, I hope that it has been of some help.

stickhasgrownup- great to get some reassurance from the scan.

It is good to see some new folks joining here too, I was wondering if we would end up with a totally split september thread from the other september group growing on the pregnancy thread!

I have another scan tomorrow, to see if the heartbeat has appeared yet. I am 8weeks and there should be something to see this time, but last weeks scan I only measured at about 6 weeks and there was not heartbeat. So I am a little anxious and hope that I have happy result tomorrow.

bellabelly · 31/01/2010 16:50

Good luck for your scan rainbowdays, hope you see a good strong heartbeat!

CakeandFineWine · 31/01/2010 16:55

MammyG sorry to hear your news! {hugs}

I've finally caught up with everyones posts! I'm so wiped out struggling to do anything, my DD 3.7 seems to know something is going on as she wants to sit on the sofa with me and watch a film and drink hot choc

My symptoms are bloody horrible at the mo nausea in waves, shattered, contipated and windy [nice] really sore boobs and last night noticed my nipples have suddenly gone HUGE WTF?!? anyone else? Sorry if TMI!

Catch up soon, hang in there everyone this is def the worst bit of pregnancy! xx

CakeandFineWine · 31/01/2010 16:56

Oh Rainbowdays good luck, sorry i missed that off fingers x'ed all's OK

MammyG · 31/01/2010 21:18

Jaysfourth, bellabelly, CakeandFineWine, rainbowdays - Thanks for the kind words guys. Would honestly be lost without here to vent at the moment. The only people who know I am pregnant are my immediate family and they are going thru so much at the moment.

Jaysfourth - will definately take time off work as Dad deteriorates. Even just to help my mother physically as he is not a small man. DH is a rock and has lost his own dad similarly so would be lost without him.

As Im sure you can equate - being a mother you get so used to doing for everyone else and sorting out their needs that thinking of yourself is the last thing you do. Think that is why I feel totally overwhelmed at the moment have kept myself busy with all the practicalities etc and my family that now that it has hit me I feel winded.
To top it off pregnancy symptoms kicked in this weekend and just feel sick with tiredness.

Thanks everyone.

StrictlyKatty · 31/01/2010 21:35

Hahaha Jaysfourth not at all, I look like a spelling moron now!

Wont find out no, didn't with DS but DH did.

MammyG that is really sad news Maybe when your Dad finds out about the baby it'll give him a little boost?

Jaysfourth · 31/01/2010 22:03

Rainbowdaus, vvvv good luck for your scan , let us know how you got on

mammyG - hugs, feel free to rant whenever. I am always here !! Little steps at a time OK

night all xx

OhFuck · 01/02/2010 10:17

So sorry to hear you're going through this MammyG. As others have said, do your best to look after yourself - you'll be much more use to your parents if you do that. Sending strength and positive vibes.

I too have morning sickness this time around, except it's Random Time Of The Day Nausea. Boak. Hope everyone else is feeling well

coppertop · 01/02/2010 12:56

Best of luck with the scan, Rainbowdays.

Sorry to hear about your dad, MammyG.

Swordfishtrombones · 01/02/2010 15:07

What a lot to catch up on!

Sorry to hear about your dad MammyG - I'm sure you'll find the strength to get through the next few months but keep posting here as often as you can.

Hope the scan went well Rainbowdays.

Well we feel a bit like we're in medieval times at the moment with a big red cross on the door! Last week DH was really ill and has suspected glandular fever, then DD1 got impetigo followed closely by appalling chicken pox, and then I was ill in bed with some mysterious virus all over the weekend. Yuk. My MIL has come down to help us out which is fab of her. DD2 is fine so is a bit bewildered by everyone wanting to be in bed, and she's not having any of it!

Anyone got any brilliant remedies for easing chicken pox? We're using calpol for her high temperature, an oral medicine for itching (allerief?) and calamine lotion. It's a horrible thing. I've heard that running a bath with porridge oats can ease the itching - can that work? I'll try anything!

bellabelly · 01/02/2010 16:57

swordfish - during my last pregnancy I had an itchy rash that was driving me crazy - I found that Aveeno oatmeal stuff in the bath really helped. Think I bought it at Boots or Superdrug, not cheap but worth it if the itching is really bad!

Hope you're all on the mend soon...

Thanks all would be lost without ye and somewhere to blab. My DH has taken to calling this my counselling circle!

Swordfishtrombones - Can sooo sypmathise we have had chicken pox in the house all of january. Aveeno do a colodial oatmeal pouch - put half in the bath for a child. I also put in a cap full of E45 childrens bath to keep their skin from drying out. Found calamine cream better than calamine lotion. effect seems to wear off once the lotion is dry whereas is longer with cream. Use Phinergan (spelling?) anti histamine and it was brill. Just two 5ml a day. I gave it to them before bed as it will make them drowsy so helped a little settling to sleep. Loads of baths and loose clothing,

Hope it clears up soon. DS1 was destroye with them and spots still healing. DS2 ran around the house telling everyone he got his chicken pox with a big grin on this face - he was feeling left out!

rainbowdays · 02/02/2010 10:34

Just an update on my scan yesterday. I had only an external scan, so not as clear as having an internal. Gestational sac measures 6 weeks, which is exactly the same as last week. So that was not what I wanted to hear. I am not giving up on this pregnancy yet. I will just wait til next weeks scan to see what that one says. I am not easy to scan and I know that early scans can be very variable in dating. So I will keep hold of the slight hope that this might still work out ok.

Rainbow, you are being very positive and i think you are right to see what next week brings for you. scans at this very early stages sometimes can reveal 'not alot' - keeping fingers crossed for you

Nothing much to report really, seems the sickness for me has subsided, bad or good? who knows.... i still have wind, slightly sore boobs and has anyone else noticed their gums bleeding when you brush your teeth? Mine are quite bad. I know its all related as Dentist told me (during one of previous pregnancies) just thought i would see if anyone else was experiencing it?

Have to have bloods taken on Friday morning, the MW i saw last week didnt do it and i had to arrange another time..seems the MW team where i am a re quite overstretched at the moment

Waiting on scan date, oh it just seems like forever to go !

Monstermuncher · 02/02/2010 14:50

Rainbowdays, I hope all is ok - fingers crossed for some positive news next week.

I have got my scan date thru and have 3 weeks to wait by which time I will be 12wks. I will also have my booking in at this appointment as well, I've had no MW contact at all yet so I'm looking forward to it feeling official IYSWIM.

SkaterGrrrrl · 02/02/2010 15:03

Dental problems are meant to be common when you're pregnant... which is why the lovely NHS gives us free dental care!

I've cracked and booked a private scan for round about the 8 week mark. Im nearly 34 and want to be sure of viability before telling parents & siblings. Plus I want my dates confirmed - my GP says I conceived in Dec but I had such a light peiod (TMI) in Dec that I think it might be November. In which case Im going to miss my sister's wedding.

bellabelly · 02/02/2010 15:49

Right Skatergrrrl, you have just inspired me to get cracking and a)register with a dentist and b) phone up and make an appointment to get this toothache that I've been ignoring my teeth looked at .

Rainbow - really hope you get some good news at next week's scan. Fingers crossed for you.
