3 x BFP this morning!

Even bought an expensive clearblue digital test to be sure!

My DD will be 1st September 2010 and this will be my 2nd baby. My DS was 2 weeks late so will def be September not August!!!

Anyone else...?

Jaysfourth · 25/01/2010 08:55

welcome, waytoomuchchocolate. hope your 'buys' are conclusive!

foxyjbro99 · 25/01/2010 13:39

Hello everyone,
Went for my early scan this am (due to m/c last time).
Everything looking good so far. Saw little bean and heartbeat!!
Didn't have to have internal scan, they could see it with normal scan. It measured 8 weeks and 4 days, so about what i predicted.

Swordfishtrombones · 25/01/2010 14:34

Hi everyone

Sorry to hear your news Dirtgirl.

How exciting Foxy - I can't wait for my scan. The 17th seems ages away.

I'm in two minds about finding out the sex this time round. It was a surprise for DD1 and DD2, but DH is quite keen to know this time. The thing is there are very few real surprises in life, and finding out the sex of your baby is one of them which is why I wasn't even tempted before. I feel it would somehow take something away from the whole magic of birth. Does that sound daft?

Right - I'm off to investigate whether 3 car seats are going to fit in the back of my car....!

bellabelly · 25/01/2010 14:35

That is great, foxy I know I'm going to be v impatient for my first scan - trying not to think about it yet as won't be for another 6 weeks at least! Am world's least patient person...

coppertop · 25/01/2010 18:27

Can I join you all too?

I'm not 100% certain of my dates but think my due date should be somewhere around the 23rd September.

This will be our 4th baby.

Our local hospital has a policy of not telling parents the baby's gender so I won't find out until the actual birth.

I have 2 boys and a girl so am fully prepared for all the "I bet you want another girl so that you have two of each" comments.

Jaysfourth · 25/01/2010 20:09

hi and welcome Coppertop

I am in the same boat as you, two boys and a girl, thing is, i WOULD like another girl lol.

This is actually the first time i would like to have power over the decision, obviously i know i cant, and i would welcome either or, but secretly i would like a girl

I am getting more prepared for the , really's , are you mad's, are you sure's etc etc etc from people!

Still feeling icky, but have managed a plain baked potato ( how exciting) this evening !

Jaysfourth · 25/01/2010 20:12

meant to add,

Great news re your scan foxy.It so nice to see the newly forming baby and be reassured things are all going to plan

Jaysfourth · 26/01/2010 08:43

morning all, Hi Skatergrrrrl (hope that's the right amount of r's, i didn't check!) congratulations on your news.

Feel exhausted youngest son up most of the night , i think he has a tummy bug, changed his sheets three times, poor thing,he is never sick so when i went in to him first, he is sitting there, in horror/shock/sadness, looking around pointing and saying 'oh no' repeatedly....i almost cried form him

Still he has managed a weetabix this morning, and is sat next to me watching his fav, Peppa Pig! Thankfully the other two didn't wake through the night they managed to go to 5......5 i tell you! i must of have about three hours sleep...oh well onwards and upwards

Swordfishtrombones · 26/01/2010 10:23

Morning everyone and welcome SkaterGrrrrl!

Jaysfourth - I hope DS is okay today. Those tummy bugs are awful - we always seem to take turns to get them so once one goes down with it.....hope you and the rest of the family are ok!

I have a couple of Peppa Pig fans too. we all feel very sorry for Daddy Pig in this house - he seems to get a hard time!

bellabelly · 26/01/2010 12:55

Afternoon all, got my first doctor's appointment this afternoon, am quite excited! Hoping that the pregnancy will feel a bit more "real" and official. Am really hoping that he'll insist on doing another preg test to confirm but I remember last time that didn't happen. Different doc though, so who knows?! I know it's ridiculous but I just don't quite believe I'm pregnant yet, despite feeling quite nauseous when I got up this morning.

Jaysfourth, hope it was just a one-off for your DS and that you have a vomit-free day!

SkaterGrrrrl · 26/01/2010 13:28

Good luck Bella. Maybe you could do another home test to convine yourself?

I accept all variations on the number of r's in my name!

Jaysfourth · 26/01/2010 13:55

it would seem that whatever was in his system, no longer seems to be there, touch wood.... no more sickness from him but he is still off his food ( understandably) i think he is having one of those times at the mo!

I know how you feel Bella, it would be nice for the DR to 'confirm' it with a test, just so as another person can have the responsibility, but i understand the home tests are as reliable as anything they would use. Things will become more real in a few weeks time

I D/L an app for my iPhone when i found out i was keith chegwin, its called babybump. It gives youa whole heap of information week by week, measurement charts, birth planner, baby necessities etc etc etc, its nothing i didnt already know but its a fun gimmick for anyone that has an iPhone...

FYI - @ wk 7
BABY SIZE is .51 in
Size of a blueberry

BABY WEIGHT is less than 1.1g

babies face is forming and becoming more defined, with the lenses of the eye!

The middle part of the ear is also forming, and the buds for arms and legs are beginning to 'sprout'

  • just some snipits of info
bellabelly · 26/01/2010 16:40

Skatergrrrl - noooo, I am not going to shell out for more home tests, i did that last pregnancy to the point where it became a standing joke

Anyway, had doc's appointment, not very exciting (he is a charmless man, unfortunately) so the midwife should be in touch sometime soon. Think she covers nearly all the ante-natal appts so only need one more with annoying doctor. Tis such a shame, I had a FAB gp before we moved down here, wish I was still with her! When I asked him for maternity exemption form (for free nhs prescriptions), he got all flustered, then tried to give me a totally different form, then when I pointed out the mistake said "oh yes, I'm not very good with all the Social Security stuff" - wtf?! Gah, anyway, I could rant a bit more but it would be very tedious for the rest of you...

Anyway, starting to feel a bit more real now, I even have an official due date, the 25th, hoorah!

Jaysfourth, I like your iphone app - wondering if I can justify buying an iphone? I used to have a cool book with pictures of dev't week-by-week but must have lent it to someone, can't find it anywhere!

CakeandFineWine · 26/01/2010 18:25

Hey all, Welcome to newbies!!

Had my scan yest and went well I am 8 weeks today and all is well so far heartbeat strong etc. Sonographer was brill remembered me from MC so was v.reassuring gave me pics and booked me in for scan for 1st March but said I can ring inbetween if I'm worried!! Think thatmoves my due date to a day or two later, will update list when I've worked it out!
Foxyjbro Glad yours went well too

JodeyLea · 26/01/2010 18:28

Hey folks

Went to the docs yesterday and I'm not sure what I was expecting (it being my first and all) but it was a real anti climax!! Blood pressure was taken and he attempted to work out my date without asking me my regular cycle days (he assumed it was 28 days). So I have been told the 20th though the internet calendar says the 24th so who knows! Suppose it doesn't really matter.

I know what you mean bellabelly about it not feeling real. Think I will feel like a fake until I see that it is there on the scan.

The doctor said that I'll be hearing from the hospital for a 'dating scan' in the next couple of weeks. I assumed your first scan was at 12 weeks, not before? When have others got to have their first scans?

I have sicky feelings on and off and odd little sensations in my tummy that I can't really describe as they aren't painful, just irratating. Also been getting light headaches. Is this normal? Think I'm turning into a total hypercondriac!! HELP x

JodeyLea · 26/01/2010 18:29

Thats fab CakeandFineWine. Congratulations.

comixminx · 26/01/2010 19:22

Hi all, just chipping in again. Jaysfourth, cool iPhone info, will want to download that app myself I think! Though will hide it on one of the screens that is not the front screen as there are still lots of people I haven't told - actually I have told a few people at work, for various reasons, but not so much people outside of work.

I'm not aiming to find out the sex of the baby beforehand - keep the element of surprise with the first one at least, I think!

Like you, JodeyLea, I feel a bit hypochondriac sometimes, though actually it's settled down quite a bit now and feels much more real as the weeks have been going on. 8 weeks plus, yay! And I have a bunch of appointments coming up so that too makes it start to feel even more real. I think that just knowing that others have also had similar things going on with them definitely helps!

comixminx · 26/01/2010 19:25

Blimey - just looking at the BabyBump app on the iPhone app store - "First and only pregnancy app with Twitter and Facebook sharing!" Er - no!!! Do not want that bit of it - certainly not now, possibly not ever!

Jaysfourth · 26/01/2010 19:32

lol comixminx......i had to doubly make sure i didn't accidentally share info on my FB, and then check again!!

BBL xx

OhFuck · 26/01/2010 20:06

Hi folks, can I join you? Had my positive test last week, and it was a bit of a shock! We already have DS 2.5 and hadn't quite planned another yet, as DP is out of work. Having said that, I am quietly delighted I think. DP is taking a while to come round (but he will).

I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow (asked the receptionist if I couldn't just book in directly with the midwife but apparently not - don't see what the doctor's going to do, I can't even remember when my last period was!) and then I have to tell my boss. This isn't a good time for me to be pregnant so really not looking forward to that.

No spewing so far - I missed out on morning sickness last time around so hoping same again - but eyewatering trapped wind and constipation, poos like Maltesers so back to a diet of Weetabix [sigh]

Roll on September, and all the best to the rest of you!

MammyG · 26/01/2010 20:48

Hi all
Saw the tiniest little bean on monitor today. Am only 6 weeks so was v. early scan to check things - doc seemed happy all was as it should be for this stage so booked in again for 23rd of Feb.
I have to travel 2 hours to see the doc so was bit of a trek - am shattered. DS2 broke out in chickenpox yesterday morn too so have had a max of 4 hours sleep each night since last tue!
Other good news is after a bit of wrangling my doc is going to twist the arm of another doc to figure out what is going on with my stomach/gallbladder. The HSE is Ireland is a disgrace - if you are not actually dying they dont want to know. The nurses and docs are fab its the system itself. I am reduced to crippling pain for 5 days every 2 - 3 months but pregnancy has made it constant. Would you believe 2 doctors told me its something I might just have to live with! Which is hilarious cause I have yet to be diagnosed so I dont even know what I am living with yet!!
Ok sorry rant over.

Jaysfourth · 26/01/2010 21:59

MammyG - Thats great news about bean bit of a poor show that one Doc has to twist the arm of another Doc though, but glad that something might be being done about it, poor you

Feel free to rant away, sometimes its good to hear about others 'problems' makes me put mine into perspective!

'Oh' welcome and congratulations

Jodeylea, unless theres a reason for an earlier scan, your first one will be around the 12 week mark

My Mum asked me today

'your kids are growing up way to fast, are you going to have any more?'

my reply

'i cant stop them from growing up Mum'

was tempted to say something else but bit my tongue

jbakedbean · 26/01/2010 22:19

Hi peeps, Need a moan, pregnant with dc2, ds1 is 9 months old, this one due first week in sept and unplanned but very much wanted.
I stupidly sent my DP off for a week skiing so he can get his head around his fourth, our 2nd child coming along, plus he needs and deserves a break as he is fab,

BUT... at 8 weeks pregnant and just returned to work and DC1 just going into nursery and catching every bug going I am shattered, after cleaning up vomit, seeing doc about conjunctivitous, etc etc.

Plus I am the most impatient person on earth and there is only so many times I can check to see where I am on pregnancy times lines, and what is happening each and every day. Can't wait til my 12 week scan.

Thanks for letting me moan, x x x

ArcticFox · 27/01/2010 09:43

Said I wasnt going to add myself till 12wks but had scan today at 7+4 and all well/heartbeat strong so thought I'd take the risk.
