Ladyrabbit I did nothing but sleep for the first 15 weeks of my first pregnancy. Never felt anything like it. Didnt get morning sickness but I was rarely awake long enough stretches to know. Would only get nauseous if I went too long without sleep. I felt like I had been unplugged. On the weekends i would get up have breakfast, go back to bed, get up head out for lunch, back for a nap! Ridiculous.

Has anyone ever had to have any medical investigations done while pregnant? I think all my pain is from my gallbladder but I know I dont have gallstones. Any further investigation would require going to hospital and i am not sure what is safe this early in pregnancy. At the same time I am in constant pain and unable to eat much at all. Doctor was saying I may even have to go in twice weekly for fluids etc intravenously? Anyone any experience of this?

CakeandFineWine · 22/01/2010 21:43

hello all especially the newbies, what a rate this group is growing at, or is that jut my tum?! According to my dates I'm only 7 weeks and 4 days and had to buy mat jeans as I can't do top button up on mine and I've weighed myself and actually lost 1 lb so WTF!!

Jaysfourth · 23/01/2010 10:35

Does everyone work on this thread? Was wondering why it was a bit quiet... or is it that you have got lives to be getting on with !!!

mellymooks · 23/01/2010 12:25

Hi jaysfourth - yes I work part time and have a 2 year old so time is snatched, which is why I already feel like I can't keep up with this thread!!
First time round I managed to post lots more, especially once I was on maternity leave, we would spend most of the day all writing to each other waiting to go into labour, I think it will be very different for me this time round!

hi both inzidoodle and mellymooks. I spent forever on MN when i was pregnant first time round, then with subsequent babies, i had less and less time.... its always good though to be able to check in when you can and have a chat with others in the same boat

i have laptop on all the time, with everything logged in ready to go, so whenever i have five mins i pick up and check in!!

So who will find out the sex of their baby this time round, or indeed first timers?

JodeyLea · 23/01/2010 15:59

Hiya ladies.

As it's my first, i don't think I'll find out the sex, though I can imagine it will drive me insane not knowing!!

Me and my husband told our parents today! They were very excited. Feels so strange, still haven't got my head around the idea that something is growing inside me!

Is anyone else out there doing any exercise? I went to the gym to do a class today and really wanted to go for it but had to keep reminding myself to do lower impact. Felt like a lazy bugger with with everyone else jumping and sweating around me lol x x

bloominnorah · 23/01/2010 18:04

We didn't find out the sex for our first but I'd quite like to this time...I'm not sure if its easier to tell DS what we going to have so he can prepare for it (iyswim) or leave it to be a surprise? He'll be 3.8 when this one is born.

Jaysfourth · 23/01/2010 20:08

we found out the sex of the first two, and as we had had a boy and girl, i ( DH didnt get a say!)decided to wait till birth to find out. This time round DH has said he HAS to know, he cant bear to go the whole hog without knowing...so i am guessing he gets his way this time round!

He also has the boys name chosen, should it be a boy, he has left me with the girls decision....not sure how i feel about that, and will feel bad if i really hate the name!!

Hope everyones Saturday has been good, have a relaxing Sunday xx

MammyG · 23/01/2010 22:04

Expecting my 3rd. Def going to find out sex this time. Have two boys so just want to know. This will be my last baby and am happy with either a boy or girl. But on my first pregnancy EVERYONE was convinced i was having a girl and when DS arrived i was a bit stunned poor DH though I was disappointed! Just want to be sure on the day there is nothing but excitment and anticipation. Will be keeping it to myself tho

MadameG · 23/01/2010 22:10

Can you find out the sex at the 12 week scan? I definitely want to know what we're having so we're familiar with the he/ she aspect and are prepared!

MammyG · 23/01/2010 22:28

Think there would be too great a margin of error at 12 weeks? Im pretty sure you have to wait to 20 weeks and then too late in the pregnancy it can become too difficult for them to see if baby isnt positioned right

Jaysfourth · 24/01/2010 09:19

At 12 weeks it's almost impossible to say what the sex is, even at 20 weeks some sonographers won't 'commit' to an answer or have to get in second opinion! We have had 3D scans with dll of ours which is very clear when it comes to finding the sex. We normally do it around 5 mth mark. That way baby is big enough to see but not so big it just becomes a mass of arms and legs!

Feeling really crap today, first day I hVent actually had any breakfast for fear of it coming back also have a bad back... Ongoing problem from childhood bur three pregnancies have done their fair share of damage! Have Physio on Wed so hoping I can hold on till then

Dirtgirl · 24/01/2010 10:20

Sadly you can take me off your list.

Good luck everyone.

I am a bit of an intermittent poster. I work (but self employed so work at home in preference to my office quite a bit). Getting v. busy workwise so may go quiet for a while, but I do read others' posts. Struggling, like the rest of you, to stay awake. Exercise helps when I can squeeze it in.

MammyG · 24/01/2010 11:45

Dirtgirl - so sorry. Take care of yourself. x

CakeandFineWine · 24/01/2010 11:53

Hi all

Sorry to hear your sad news dirtgirl Take care of yourself x

Re: working: I'm working full time with a 3.6 yr old DD and DH on nights so I grab a catch up when I can! So knackered at the moment so its not as much as I'd like but once I get over that I'll def be on here more!

Sex of baby, we found out with DD and although I'd quite like the surprise DH feels we should treat it the same so pretty sure we'll be finding out at 20 weeks. Luckily I'll get extra scans due to severe pre-eclampsia with DD so between all the scans they should have a good idea by then
And second or more timers on here had compliactions? I'm being referred to consultant soon!!

Curlylox · 24/01/2010 14:15

Dirtgirl how sad - so sorry.

Maitri thanks for the prune juice tip, back to being regular now pinned down what I believe made me irregular - rice milk in my porridge - will go back to my oat milk.

I work 3 full days a week, am tempted to visit MN in my luch hour but don't want anyone tagging on to my "condition" by peering over at my pc. Way too tired to log on when I get home after work, so mainly Thurs to Sun in between housework, shopping, school run and chauffeuring my DD to ballet and swimming.
We did find out sex of DD with 4D scan and kept it to ourselves and told my GM only. This time we'll wait and see. Ooh am off for a small nap, yawn

Love2Dance · 24/01/2010 15:03

I wanted to find out sex first time round but DH persuaded me to leave it as a surprise. At 12 week scan DS' appendage was visible so I sort of guessed when sonographer said right at that point: "do you want to know the sex?". It was still kind of nice not knowing until he came out.

Re complications CakeandFineWine: I was fine until about 30 weeks when I found out I had oligohydramnios (insufficient amniotic fluid). Went from sailing through pregnancy to stress and worry right up to birth as it got worse the further along I was. All turned out fine in the end but it would have been nice to enjoy the few weeks at the beginning of my maternity leave prior to birth (had fantasies about wafting around galleries etc.). Hopefully this time eh?

LadyRabbit · 24/01/2010 15:18

Dirtgirl really, really feel for you, I'm so sorry. Please take care of yourself.

Work for myself and sometimes from home, of late my time management has been somewhat compromised by daydreaming about babies....

Jaysfourth · 24/01/2010 19:31

Dirtgirl, so sorry for you and your partner. Stay positive x

Prune juice....its not bad at all, i have mixed it with a bit of innocent smoothie and so its quite palatable! Although i have yet to see any results....!

My sickness tends to be mornings till about 11/12 then it goes for a bit, where i manage something to eat, then returns about 4 and prevents me from eating bleugh bleugh its awful, never really had it in the other pregnancies so its a new experience for me! - they do say all pregnancies are different i guess.

Still very tired also, so tired i managed to wangle an hour back to bed this afternoon while youngest was having his nap...something i very rarely do

hope everyone is well x

MammyG · 24/01/2010 20:51

I work full time and opposite hours to DH so we are either at work or home alone with the boys. Must say find it trying at the best of times when I am behind work etc so might be a bit mad adding to the mayhem!

Only 6 weeks and already having a complicated pregnancy. Am getting on phone tomorrow and demanding consultant sort me out but taking me into hospital and figuring out what is going on. Once I have my health back the rest shouldnt be too bad . . I hope!

Jaysfourth · 25/01/2010 08:38

i never had sickness in the other pregnancies so i dont know if it that going on with me?

havent been sick, but cant face any food at all, its the third day now, i have gone from constipated to the complete opposite ( sorry for TMI)i am having hot and cold flushes...my mouth feels so dry and tastes all 'metallicly'
and really just want to close my eyes till it all goes away. I feel unusually weak and very lethargic, just not right at all

I guess i am wondering if i have a tummy bug and should i be concerned if thats the case, or s this it, the dreaded MS ? Anyone got any opinions?

sorry for such a rant so early on a Monday morning!

waytoomuchchocolate · 25/01/2010 08:46
