Hope you're feeling better soon ABF.

Your DS is a sweetie to be so worried about you. It won't be long now and his little sister will be here and he can start being a lovely big brother too

madmissy · 13/12/2009 14:35

grrr dd2 has a cold and is super clingy today! hope i don't come down with it

not much new here loads of pressure no more show since the morning

will pop along to the clinic tomorrow to see if anything happening

millie any change?

my friend had a emcs last night at 32 weeks shes developed severe PE and my other friend is being induced as we speak! all these babys!

Milliemuffin · 13/12/2009 14:41

I had a strongish contraction at 2:07pm and have had about 4 in the last couple of hours so I'm hoping things are starting but still very early to say. DS is still asleep but he'll be off to his nan's soon, just wondering wether to go with him and say bye or just let DP take him? DP reckons DS will be fine but DS spend fri & sat night with my parents, he's only been home since 11:30 this morning and he'll be spending tonight and tomorrow night with DP's parents, just worry he'll get home sick

madmissy · 13/12/2009 14:50

He will be fine! Its a adventure for him!
Fingers crossed something happens. when do you go in?

Milliemuffin · 13/12/2009 14:53

2pm tomorrow............ sooooooo don't want to..............

off to asda later to buy a very big pineapple.

LaDiDaDi · 13/12/2009 18:51

What a hideous afternoon I've had.

Had hoped for a nice time decorating the tree but it was a total nightmare with dd simply unable to leave the box of baubles alone for more than two seconds at a time leading me to repeatedly point out that she wasn't doing as she was told, was happy for her to help but she was constantly on the point of breaking everything and in general I've been feeling fed up with her inability to not do things when she is told not to iyswim.

Finally got it finished, dp was off to look for string to nail it to the wall when dd pushed past the tree to put snowflake stickers on the window and the whole bloody thing toppled over, cue much crying and general crossness! Not very festive unfortunately.

Tree is now re-decorated and tethered to the wall with fishing line.

Still have the little pink tree to do for dd's bedroom but that will have to wait until tomorrow at the earliest.

Feel like I have a million things to do before next Monday.

Shopping, midwife, buying cake decorations, visiting friend tomorrow.
Visiting friend Tuesday.
Dd's nursery performance Wednesday.
Visiting Granny and great Aunt on Thursday.
Decorating cake and hospital appointment on Friday.
Xmas party at friends on Saturday afternoon then other friends coming around Saturday evening.
?Taking dd to the cinema on Sunday.

Exhausted just at the thought of it all...and dp and me just seem to be constantly irritating each other for no reason.

Bedtime soon...

madmissy · 13/12/2009 19:23

oh dear how old is dd?

GoldenSnitch · 13/12/2009 20:47

Sorry to hear you've had a rotten day LaDiDaDi ..I will be pinching your tree tethering idea though, that's genius! We call it "Van-helping" in our house (I think we'd been watching a Vampire movie when we came up with that one!) When they try really hard to help and actually make things much, much harder!

We were meant to be putting our tree up today but we've run out of time. I've been on a Super-nest and even sent DH out on Saturday to rent a carpet cleaner!!! DH went a bit nuts on the lounge (he wouldn't let me use the machine which frustrated me no end!) and the carpet is still damp so we're waiting for it to dry before the tree goes up. I want it done before I go into hospital though so we've got until Wednesday night - assuming I don't get the dreaded phone call...

So this weekend, we've cleaned all the carpets in the house, I've washed the sofa covers and the lounge curtains and (because the nets fell apart when they were washed) we've bought and fitted new blinds too! I've even dusted and sorted all the bedrooms.

I've pretty much cleaned the kitchen too - all the kitchen sides and tiles and cabinet doors have been done - just the floor to mop and I'm pretty much done I think.

I really ache now but I just couldn't stop. I feel like I'm about to go on holiday or something, trying to make sure everything is washed and ready and the house is tidy...

Good luck to everyone. I'm hoping a few more babies arrive before Catherine as I'm sure those who are overdue are even more fed up than I am! Maybe next week will be a bumper crop for the December thread?

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 13/12/2009 20:58

No news here, due yesterday, so it looks like a CS on Tuesday for me. I am really gutted about it now but resigned to it as I really don't want to go 2 weeks over and then end up with a CS anyway.

Absolutely bricking it about a) having the epidural now although I'm sure it'll be fine and b) leaving DS with MIL but it can't be avoided.

My poor DH tried to steal my thunder this morning by having a teaspoonful of menthol and eucalyptus INHALATION medicine, which he said tasted disgusting, but is actually poison with a 'DO NOT INJEST - MAY CAUSE DEATH' sticker on it! I made him vomit then called the on-call doctor who called an ambulance. He's fine but it was very stressful this morning - and even that didn't bring on the baby! grrrr

peumahue · 13/12/2009 22:50

hello everyone!

Good news from me - our little boy was born on Monday morning! 10 days overdue but only weighed 7lb (rather glad about that to be honest!).

So, the story...

3am Sunday morning, waters broke, a few contractions but nothing too bad. Woke up DH at 8am to tell him "I think we'll be having a baby today" and call the hospital.

9am: had a shower before going to hospital. Noticed the waters were a bit green - apparently a sign of poo in the womb. Went to hospital. Bumped to front of queue for induction because waters going green is a "grade 1". Yikes!

3pm: hooked up to syntocinon drip to start contractions. But baby's heart rate drops massively every time I have a contraction which is a sign of stress (and apparently very rare to see a baby react so negatively so quickly), so they start talking about emergency C-sec and prep me for theatre.

3.30pm: syntocinon turned off. Am 1cm dilated.

5.30pm: syntocinon turned back on to try again. Baby's heart rate doesn't drop as much this time so they turn up the dosage and stop talking about c-section (they want to get him out the natural way if poss). Contractions start in earnest and come on massively quickly (bearing in mind I really haven't had any major contractions yet!) so I take the first opportunity to ask for an epidural as I don't think I can take the pain for what could be another several hours! Epidural not as unpleasant as expected and the pain only lasts a couple of minutes before...

7.30pm: epidural kicks in. I was obviously feeling fine at this point as I demanded to watch the X Factor semifinal! But the telly wasn't working so I had to follow it on Twitter on my iPhone (and ended up tweeting details of my labour while I was at it)!

10pm: 7cm dilated. Contractions start to get really painful again and have moved to my bottom. Feels like I need a massive poo! Have a top up on the epidural and soon feel OK enough to have 40 minutes' kip. But the doctor and midwife are now talking forceps and ventouse, which I'm less happy about!

midnight: fully dilated. They say I will start pushing in an hour, but then baby's heart rate decreases AGAIN and at 00.35 the doctor goes "Let's do this", gets my legs up in stirrups and gets the ventouse out. I push (without ventouse) for half an hour, then the doctor COMPLETELY without warning shoves the ventouse up my fanny and starts sucking the poor little thing out! Luckily it only took two contractions for my to push him out with the aid of the sucker, so the whole pushing phase only took 40 minutes or so.

We had to stay in hospital for five days while they put DS on antibiotics in case of infection (he had a high temperature and was breathing a bit fast), but it wasn't anything too serious and it was actually fantasic to have midwife advice on tap 24/7 as I think I've cracked breastfeeding and I'm sure I wouldn't have done so on my own.

So that's it! Here I am with a six day old baby boy, a slight case of hormonal overwhelmedness (just looking at his gorgeous little face makes me blub) and several woman's bits that aren't quite as they used to be........

Hope everyone else is well, look forward to hearing more news soon!

xx

peumahue · 13/12/2009 23:06

PS didn't mention his name, he's Frederick James.

Hopefully now I've popped I will be able to to spend some more time on here getting to know everyone - I feel like I've been all take take take so far!

sparklycheerymummy · 13/12/2009 23:12

Another baby born here!!! Toby ALexander, 1.30am Saturday 12th December. Weighing in at......wait for it 10lbs 11ozs!!! Had my waters broken at 5.15pm after waiting a full day for a bed as hospital labour ward was busy and i needed a room straight away as for anti bitoics for strep b. After waters went i was 3 cms..... got to 6 cms without realising, was hooked up to a blue tooth monitor so had no wires and could walk around. she hooked the syntocin drip up and i decided i needed a wee first..... didnt get as far as loo as contractions were so strong all of a sudden so she scrapped the drip idea. labour lasted 3 hours 40 mins and no time for an epidural as contractions too close. so i delivered 10lbs 11ozs naturally with gas and air but nothing when it came to pushing other than biting the end off the gas and air tube. he came out with his hand and shoulder together so i did tear and need stitches but they feel fine now. got very excited when i dared to do a poo this morning..... sorry if tmi but anyone else having had their babies will understand i am sure!!! breastfeeding is gong fine but big baby who sucks very hard so despite having a good latch it still hurts quite a bit..... any tips for a hard sucker appreciated. He is so so so cuddly and i feel great.... had lots of support form a fab midwifery team who had very obviously all read my notes about previous PND..... they checked on me lots and made sure i was eating as i went into shock with dd and didnt eat.xxxxx going to bed now with my bundle of joy!!!!!!!

Wow guys!

peumahue well done you! bit scary on the waters front! glad that you are home and well

sparkly OUCH lol my induced labour was very quick too with dd2 so was gas and air. what a monkey he has been from start to finish!

devon don't feel too downhearted think of it this way tomorrow is 'the' day!

snitch my god girl you are nesting!!

I'm completely freaking out about tomorrow and the pain to come.

Terrified of another placenta problem

jesus this time tomorrow i will be in...

AmazingBouncingFerret · 14/12/2009 08:49

Congratulations on the new arrivals!!

There should be some sort of law against severe braxton hicks when you are overdue.
Its mean, like dangling chocolate in front of a child and then taking it away.

LaDiDaDi · 14/12/2009 10:53

Congratulations to peumahue and sparklycheerymummy !! Some more babies at last.

I'm feeling really nauseous and not quite right today though it could just be tiredness as I had a crap night's sleep. Been shopping, just need to put it all away then get to dd's nursery for 11.40 for a Christmas service, then lunch, then midwife then.....

Will check back for more news later .

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 14/12/2009 12:18

Congratulations to new arrivals, great news!!!

I had my pre-op appointment today and the midwifes were brilliant and have made me feel more happy about things. I still hope something might happen today but I guess that's stupid now.

ABF I agree about the law against severe braxton hicks but remember every contraction helps now, and it might be just moving baby down a few mm or softening up the cervix but it still counts.

I've got a frigging cold now - not the best thing to happen a day before having major surgery and a new baby to look after. Oh well can't do much about it except flop in front of the telly with DS and enjoy our last afternoon together for a while. Blimey, this time tomorrow I'll have my little one with me all being well... eeeek

x

Scorps · 14/12/2009 12:22

Congrats to all new arrivals lovely!

I'm 38+3 today, would be happy going overdue TBH.

Going for SF jab today.

OP posts:
GoldenSnitch · 14/12/2009 12:36

Really not feeling well today. Keep feeling all faint and woozy and my heart is racing.

The pain in my pubic bone is horrible too!!

Think I might ring the midwife...

theGreatPumpkin · 14/12/2009 13:28

Congratulations all who have had their lovely babies, I am very jealous. Due today and not even a twinge. My first baby was 8 days early and now I am going overdue, grrr. And the midwives never return my calls. Double grrr.

GoldenSnitch · 14/12/2009 13:44

Midwife wants me to go to the hospital to be monitored.

DS is going to the PIL....

Will update you all later - hopefully!

Milliemuffin · 14/12/2009 14:04

Another arrival for the list... Jasmine Ann arrived in hospital at 9:50pm on Sunday 13th 14days early weighing 6lb 8 and 47hrs after waters went.
Contractions were every 9mins lasting a minute for abt 3hrs but one didn't stop, rang for Comm midwife to come but were all out already, felt pressure near bk passage like baby was coming, amb turned up 5mins later, arrived in delivery suite and 30scs later she was born with one big push. God knows what would've happened if we'd not rung for amb. Still in hosp trying to get feeding going but hopefully going home at 3.
Congrats to the other arrivals xx

Mybox · 14/12/2009 14:26

Millie, Sparkly & peumhue - Many congratulations xxx

1petshortofazoo · 14/12/2009 15:25

Oh my gosh!! Congratulations to all the new little bundles!

Good luck snitch hope your feeling better soon

I am so sick of all this rain we are getting, I spend most of my day mopping the kitchen floor of muddy foot prints why cant dogs wipe their feet???

its DS's Christmas play tomorrow morning so as much as I want this baby out I now want it to wait atleast til 10.30 tomorrow

LaDiDaDi · 14/12/2009 15:28

Congrats Milliemiffin!!

Hope you are feeling better GS and that you are fine on the monitor.

I forgot to tell the midwife that I's been feeling rubbish this morning! I am feeeling better now though .

Fed up with feeling so achy when I walk. Am I a bad mummy if I just let dd watch Cbeebies this afternoon or should we try to bake the decorations for the tree??
